If you call to place an order, they answer the phone like they're genuinely annoyed that it rang. Then they tell you your order will be ready in, say, 20 minutes. My advice? Add another 15 minutes to whatever they tell you. It's almost automatic. When I say the service is bad, I don't mean the employees are overwhelmed or having an off day. They often talk to customers as if you're inconveniencing them simply by ordering. It's consistently curt and surprisingly rude. Then comes the twist... You slide your credit card into the machine. It asks if you'd like to leave a tip. You make your selection. Then--like someone flipped a switch--they smile, hand you your food, genuinely thank you, and wish you a nice day. And somehow... it works. Five minutes ago you were annoyed. Now you have your food, you're relieved the ordeal is over, and you're walking out smelling the pizza! It's like a customer-service Jedi mind trick. They don't convince you the service was good--they just make you so happy to finally have your food that you momentarily forget how you were treated. I've watched this happen to me--and to plenty of other customers--for years. And yet... I keep going back. Because the food really is that good.
