Just a good little pizza spot. No frills. Great bar seating! Great outdoor seating! Quick service and the guy with the huge gauges slinging slices was super cool. The gal at the register taking orders could use a refresher in customer service but overall she was ok.

Stopped by for a quick lunch and ordered 4 slices of pizza plus a drink, which came out to around $21-22. Prices are definitely higher than they used to be, but I do have to give them credit for how fast they are. My food was ready almost immediately. The pizza itself was pretty good. The slices are thin with a crispy crust, and they don't overload them with toppings. Nothing mind-blowing, but solid pizza that hits the spot. They had some music playing during lunchtime. The restaurant has a casual vibe with both indoor and outdoor seating, and I like that you can grab individual slices instead of committing to a whole pie. It's a reliable lunch stop with quick service and decent pizza.

Everything we tried here was great! Definitely superior that the other NY-style pizza places we have back in Washington. I thought the White Girl and Capone pizzas were true standouts! The famous Crime Scene pizza was very unique with the ricotta cheese as well - super creamy with a good, flavorful bite. My kids DEVOURED the cheese pizza. We'll have to come back next time to try Sports Bar which sounds delicious as well. Service was great - the guy managing the counter was very friendly and provided us with lots of great restaurant recommendations in the neighborhood. Swing by to get your pizza fix here - you'll be glad you did!

Was so excited to come here after being in the area for a work training. I have had their Donatello pizza and it was delicious (I actually dream about this pizza often but none of the locations are in an area I can get to easily so it would still be hot) but I digress. I had thought about calling ahead and ordering a whole pie but I thought that was a bit excessive so I decided to see what awaited me when I got there. Parking is impossible. I was there after the lunch rush, there is construction in the area, the parking lot was full so I had to drive around and park quite far away. After hiking to the restaurant and seeing all the pies on display I decided on a slice of Donatello (Ricotta, parmesan, and garlic. No sauce) and a piece of pepperoni with bacon, onions and jalapeños. Two slices was $9.70 with tax. I decided to get them to go as it had taken so long to drive there and find parking my lunch was over and I was expected back in office. I noticed as I was hiking back to my car that the pizza did not feel very warm (I had ordered, went to the restroom and by the time I came out the slices were ready. I was in the bathroom 4 minutes max). I hoped that maybe because I was walking quickly or it was a warm day, perhaps I just did not notice that the pizza was not warm but alas when I got to the car, the pizza was barely lukewarm. I was hungry (no breakfast) so I snarfed Donatello down while I drove and saved the other one for work. The pizza was very crisp (crust like a cracker) which is not how a whole pie tasted so I assume it gets stale from sitting out or being reheated. It wasn't terrible but it wasn't great. If I get a hankering for this place again I will have to go in person, order a whole pie and have a few slices while there to see if this is just a one off or if the 1st time I ever had pizza from here (hot and delicious) was the one off.

Luigi's Pizza in Golden Hill has really good flavor, especially the sauce, it's rich, well-seasoned, and honestly the best part of the slice. I'm giving it 4 stars because the pizza can get a little soggy pretty fast and can be pretty oily at times. That said, when it's fresh, it definitely hits the spot and satisfies a classic pizza craving. The staff is always really nice, which makes the experience even better. I also love that the Golden Hill location has a small outdoor patio. I take my lunch out there every once in a while, and it's a great little spot to sit and enjoy a slice. Overall, a solid neighborhood pizza place that I'm happy to keep coming back to.

Recently ordered from here and the pizza was huge and pretty good, but what really surprised us was the wings--they were amazing, even better than the pizza. I'd definitely go back just for the wings. The pizza, not the best I've had.

My nephew, Joey, just back from 2 months in Italy, recommended Luigi's as being as close to NY pizza as you can get in San Diego. Still, he had to drive 25 minutes each way. The three of us (Joey, me, and my best friend Tenderfoot Tony) are all originally from NY, so we consider ourselves pizza snobs. We ordered a large one w half sausage, half pepper and onions. Luigi's stood up to our taste test. Thin crust, generous toppings, slightly charred undercarriage which held the toppings well. Overall, ranks right up there w pizza from NY. 4 and a half stars

I love pizza by the slice and Pizzaria Luigi has some of the best slices around. Always consistent in their flavor, dough thickness, topping quality, and variety in options. The cooks are putting out fresh pizza constantly so you know you'll always get a slice of something you like. The staff are quick and make sure the line is moving. I'll never turn down a chance to come here.

This pizza joint is underrated for sure! They have great deals for their slices which are HUGE. I ordered the Mona Lisa and it had the perfect crust undercarriage.

$51. 9 slices. 3 drinks. Got there around noon on a Friday. Not busy. Pies were displayed in the case. The decor reminded me of a college town pizza parlor. Placed the order at the counter. Within minutes our slices were reheated and ready - at the counter. Grab those and whatever else and have a seat. Bar seats and two tops are inside after that you are outside. The benches outside were of various heights. One side normal. The other was low and your shoulders were table height. The table top was a wee bit sticky. We had 9 different slices. One that i tried was a meat lovers. After reheating, there was no grease and the crust snapped when bitten. Wanted lasagna or a sub but was told there's a 25 minute wait on those. Everything tasted fine, flavors were prominent as needed so no issues there. Also, appreciated the price point. Solid spot for sure. Better than 3 but no way a 4. I'd say these are New York-ish style pizza. In the sense that it's a thin crust with simple, light toppings. But that's where it ends. The slices are more modest, not as wide, and the crust wouldn't bend like NY style is supposed to. Oh, I also wanted lasagna or a sub but was told there's a 25 minute wait on those.

    Yummm!

Loved this pizza spot! A whole in the wall/Secret local pizza spot! I had never tried that deep dish here but it was worth the review! The service was great thanks to Neil for having my family and I try the Pepperoni Deep Dish that had just came out of the oven. We loooved it!!! The dough was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The pepperoni, basil, cheese, marinara with the hint of honey was cooked to perfection and tastes delicious!!! We will be returning next time we're in SD again.

    St.nick pizza

This time going to Luigi's I was really disappointed. I love this place hands-down. But unfortunately, my experience tonight was ruined due to a rude register/server that was on the closing shift. I asked her if the draft beers were closed off for the night. She made a remark saying "well yeah it's close to 11 so the beers are off". I didn't say nothing I paid for my food and as we're getting ready to leave I see the woman pour up a draft beer to another customer. Completely unprofessional she was extremely rude throughout the whole night. I was observing her being rude to other people it's just not a good environment. I'll just go to the other location if she continues to be rude like that it was a woman that was wearing a black shirt doing the closing shift on August 2 and I'm doing this review at 10:40pm this is for the managers if you guys wanna know who this lady is so you guys can check the cameras to check her customer service.. I ordered the St. Nick. My pesto was burned on top damn near black mind you she was already being rude at this point so I was not enjoying the meal. DO BETTER

    Han L.

The only good slice I had here was the cheese slice but most enjoyable cheese pizza I've had in sd.

    What size(s) are the pizzas?

I've seen their pizza pies and they are pretty big! Slices are a decent size too. 🍕

Do they deliver on to military base?

No. Uber Eats/ Door dash and the like cannot get on to base as they do not have the correct credentials.

Anyone know if they are open ? Tried for days. No answer

They're open now! Their Facebook page is where they update their hours. All 3 locations are open. 🙌🏽

I'm thinking abouta date night at the pizza shops my almost 3 hr drive worth it is the pizza that good?

The pizza is super good. I loved it. I don't know if it is romantic kind of place maybe sitting outside would be a good choice.

Are you guys open? I've tried calling a couple times and it goes to an automated message system?

dude, this is asking the community questions about the restaurant, not asking the restaurant directly. also, they're busy af all the time because the pizza is bomb. I'd skip the phone call and just get your butt in line.

We were dressed casually but were treated by Luca and his team as if we were dressed to the nines. I want to state this- the place was packed on a Sunday evening and although it appeared Luca was the only waiter, he had a great team helping bring bread, water, dishes, etc. This team works great together! And the way that Luca interacted with all of his customers- amazing! Our family felt as though we knew him forever. The appetizer and salad were very good. And our main dishes of carbonara, bolognese and red sauce rigatoni were delicious. I really didn't think any of us would finish them but we couldn't put our forks down. It's a lovely place above a pizzeria - we literally passed by once and missed the entrance. Once you get up stairs, the seating area is well designed so that everyone had room enough to not feel cramped as in other restaurants. Great place for family or romantic dinner! Thank you, Luca and team for giving us such a great experience while on vacation in San Diego!

We came across Nonna's, and since I had always wanted to try it, we decided to give it a chance. The hostess was very sweet and seated us quickly, which was a great start. We ordered the calamari and two pasta dishes--one with truffle mushroom sauce and the other with braised pork. The calamari was okay, but it mostly tasted like breading and didn't have much flavor beyond that. The truffle mushroom pasta had a good sauce, but the pasta itself was very bland. Honestly, the pasta tasted like something you could buy at a grocery store and heat up at home. My boyfriend's pasta was okay as well, but neither of us felt like the dishes had much flavor, and the portions were on the smaller side. Unfortunately, the service was probably the biggest disappointment of the night. Our waiter came over, dropped off the water, and shortly after came back to take our order. The restaurant wasn't particularly busy, so we were surprised by how unfriendly and rushed he seemed. There was no smile, no attempt at conversation, or even a general sense of warmth. What really stood out to me, though, was watching him interact with another couple who were seated outside on the patio. He was completely different with them--smiling, laughing, chatting, and being very personable. At one point, my boyfriend politely asked if he could order a whiskey sour. When the waiter brought the drink, he literally slammed it down on our table, which honestly caught both of us off guard. I then watched him bring the other couple two glasses of wine, gently place them on their table, and do so with a smile. After that, the only other time he came back to our table was to rush us to take our plates. I completely understand that everyone has bad days, and I'm not someone who expects over-the-top service but I have worked in the food industry myself for many years so I do expect at least basic friendliness and hospitality--especially when you can clearly see that the same server is capable of providing it to other guests. For reference, our waiter was bald and wore glasses. He never told us his name. Overall, I'm glad I finally got to try Nonna's, but unfortunately, neither the food nor the service left us wanting to come back. There are so many other restaurants with better food, portions, and hospitality that I would personally choose somewhere else for our next special occasion.

Our waiter was so personable and had all the answers to our inquiries. He suggested items and even answered honestly when needed. I got a Le Pécora Nera Sangria (fizzy blackberry with lemon). Tasty, but too many blackberry seeds coming up the straw. I'd get another one next time. For the appetizers: RISOTTO ARANCINI (a MUST get) - these were absolutely delicious. Four good size bread crumbed fried balls of risotto sitting in the restaurant's own tomato gravy. It's right in the heart of Little Italy on India Street in between all of the other wonderful Italian restaurants. When we walked up. They have patio seating as well as inside dining. We decided to do inside dining as it was starting to get chilly outside. We were immediately seated by a wonderful hostess, and that made a positive impression upon us. The whole hostess staff had great smiles on their faces and they were very welcoming. After about two minutes of sitting down, our server came to ask us if we needed time to look over the menu. We said yes but that we wanted a Foccacia Bread table starter. She smiled and immediately went to put the order in. A few few minutes later she came back and we ordered our drinks for dinner: Raspberry Italian Soda, Orange Crush with Fresh Cream on top, and a non-alcoholic spritz. After we got our drinks and sip on them, it took us a bit of time to decide what we wanted. We all know that the burger here is fantastic! However, this evening, we decided to try new things. We ordered: Pappardelle Bolognese with Added Meatballs, Pappardelle Bolognese as it is normally prepared, and a Caesar salad with shrimp added. Our food was out within about 10 to 15 minutes and everything was prepared perfectly. I have to say that we really enjoyed dining in this location and we may need to come back here more instead of traveling to the Del Mar location sometimes. Our server was super customer service oriented and we appreciated her. She went above and beyond to get the orange crush drink to be unique like an Italian soda for my daughter. We were super stuffed and could not do dessert, but we did promise to come back to enjoy the lava cake at a future time. Overall, this was an excellent visit and we appreciate the staff in the great energy that we received at this location. I do highly recommend it.
