    Wood fired oven!
    Chris O.

Had an amazing sausage pizza, would love to come back for more as well as try one of the pasta dishes. Service was great! Was fun sitting by the pizza oven and watching one perfect pizza after another come out in minutes!

Sunday Afternoon visit. Cool little spot. Not too busy. Open Kitchen setup soon as you walk in. Cant remember my waiter name but she was cool. Party of 6. Everything we ordered was good. Well made pizza. Gem Salad was 5 star in my opinion. Definitely would try again.

The food was amazing. The octopus was very tender. The rigatoni was delicious. The Tartufo was amazing with the egg yolk. The customer service was great. Love the ambiance. Highly recommend.

Came here to dinner with friends Saturday night. They have a little one and they had been there before and felt comfortable going to dinner there with her. We ordered the romaine salad, rigatoni allá vodka, pepperoni pizza and sausage pizza. The service was good, the food came out very fast and overall, the food was delicious.

I highly recommend the "Bella Rachel" vegan pizza! The Rigatoni is great for children. The martini and lemon cello spritz are good alcoholic beverages.

I was pleasantly surprised by the menu options here! I was expecting it to be pizza only and to see a good amount of options for pasta too makes me definitely want to come back and try those! My fiancé and I both got the sausage pizza and it was really good!! I would definitely come back for the same one, and to try a new pizza flavor. It's cute and spacious inside and a great place for a casual dinner.

Met up with some friends who love it here and I see why! It was my first time and I had a great experience. The food was very good. The service was fast and the server was very friendly and knowledgeable. All of food we ordered had great flavor. All in all this was a great experience and I do plan to return!

We had a great experience tonight! I started my night off with a limoncello spritz, which was excellent. They use limoncello mixed with a rosé for a sweet not too sweet taste!! we went in for a family style experience by ordering a variety of different plates, the whipped ricotta was insane. Good, we had the meatballs, which I highly recommend, and the rigatoni vodka was just everything!!!! we finished off with the sausage pizza and everything was amazing!!! The atmosphere was fantastic, it's like old world style pizzeria, where they make the pizzas right there in front of you!!

We were visiting Philly for the Navy and Marine Corps 250th anniversary celebration. Came here due to a recommendation from some locals. Everything was amazing! Arancini balls were great! Beef Bolognese with pappardelle was the best! My wife had the ravioli which was also amazing. We liked it so much we went back the next night for a delicious pizza. If you've never tried olive oil gelato it is a must. Delicious!!

Ordered on DoorDash. Food was packaged well. Olive oil gelato was one of the most ordered desserts. was not my favorite but people have raved about it so if you like an ice cream that is not so sweet, would definitely recommend. Everything else was to die for and can't wait to try more.

The pizza was very good, the tomato and burrata was also excellent. Server was very attentive, and the place was clean. Overall, great experience!

    Margherita San Daniele

Ordered an appetizer of Brussels & Burrata that was delicious as well as 2 pizzas, Margherita definitely our favorite. Low light setting was great for Valentine's Day dinner! Would come back!

My husband and I received a Stephen Starr gift card for Christmas and were excited to try Pizzeria Stella. It has been on our list for a while so this felt like the perfect excuse to try it out! First of all, Head House Square is one of my favorite neighborhoods in Philly. Most of the city is super walkable, but this area has it all as far as shopping and restaurants go. We always look for a reason to visit this part of Philly! As a starter we shared the whipped ricotta and bottle of red wine. It was very filling since it came with focaccia bread. We were also craving pizza so ordered the marinara and wanted to try something different so went for the pistachio. We are so glad we did because it was absolutely delicious! For dessert we tried the fried doughnuts which were actually underwhelming. Our server was friendly and attentive and the restaurant's vibes are great! Giving the restaurant a 4/5 simply because the wine was not that tasty and we were disappointed in the doughnuts. But as far as pizza is concerned, I highly recommend it, especially the pistachio!

I actually celebrated my birthday here last year and this place is always a hit, never a miss! We started with the cucumber and tomato salad and the country bread, and what a delicious combination! We also ordered a side of olive oil, and they seriously have some of the best olive oil I've had in a while. I definitely recommend getting some on the side to dip your country bread in. Trust me! We paired everything with a pitcher of sangria, which gives you about four drinks and was much more economical than ordering individual cocktails. I finally tried the chicken Parmesan, and boy, am I kicking myself for not trying it sooner! The chicken breast was thick, juicy, moist, and perfectly crunchy. Some places make their chicken Parm so thin that it barely feels like you're eating chicken, but this was an actual substantial piece of chicken with the perfect bite. Our waitress told me I could swap out the pasta and sauce that normally come with the chicken Parmesan, so of course I did! I got the rigatoni with vodka sauce, and it was DELIGHTFUL. The portion was massive, so I took leftovers home and yes, I absolutely ate them the very next day! My fiancé got the branzino and wanted something lighter so he could help me with the rigatoni. His plate was beautifully presented, the fish tasted incredibly fresh, and it was exactly what he wanted. Overall, we had another wonderful experience. This restaurant will always hold a special place in our hearts, and we'll definitely be back! A special shoutout to our waitress, who was absolutely delightful and told me I could change the pasta and sauce with my chicken Parmesan. You changed my life! You have no idea how happy you made me. I wish I had gotten your name, but truly, everyone there is always so lovely. Thank you for another amazing experience!

The arancini was so decadent and the garlic bread came with a head of garlic confit - both were perfectly appetizers. We also got the shrimp pasta and lobster pasta and both were delicious! The lobster pasta was very filling, so I recommend the shrimp pasta if you want something on the lighter side. The service was good, but there was a wait both times we strolled by (Sunday and Tuesday), so would recommend making a res. The only caveat is that I would not recommend coming here with a party larger than 4 people, the restaurant is very small and rustic and can't fit a larger party. It was fine for us as we were able to push some outside tables together (and it was a beautiful evening), but I do wish we could have sat inside.

Our server apologized for a delay in taking our drink orders. She was attentive the rest of our meal. I ordered a Charles deGaulle whiskey cocktail. Lemon, aperol and simple syrup added a refreshing twist. For entrees, my wife ordered the pacherri; a simple pork ragu with tender broccoli rabe, Parmesan, stracciatello and basil. The dish was delicious. I enjoyed my plate of sea-inspired tonnarelli nero. Bay scallops in crab ragu with fennel sofrito. Served with squid ink pasta that imparted a slight brininess. The pasta was cooked pangrattato style-- coated in panko bread crumbs and garlic. The dish had many flavors but they all came back to the theme. The restaurant has a great two-level layout: a bustling coffee bar and small Italian market on the lower level, and a wine bar restaurant upstairs. It was a beautiful day, so outdoor seating was available, but after the hostess explained that the full menu is served on both levels, we opted to sit upstairs in the wine bar. Our server was fantastic--friendly, immediate, and quick to offer sparkling or tap water while handing us all the options. They offer a main lunch menu, a specials menu, and a great lunchtime deal with a limited $20 per person fixed menu. We started by sharing the mussels in a white garlic sauce. They were delicious, and the table bread dipped into the leftover garlic juices was absolutely delightful! For our main courses, my daughter got the spaghetti carbonara, and I ordered the chitarra pasta with red chili. Both pastas were cooked perfectly al dente and came in very satisfying portion sizes. My daughter's carbonara was even served with a savory bacon-flavored gelato on top! My only minor critique of my dish was that the pork was a bit fattier than I prefer and wasn't cooked as crisp as I'd like, but the flavor was still great. We couldn't leave without dessert, so we both got gelato. I had the amaretto and salted caramel, while my daughter went with dark chocolate and salted caramel. Both were insanely good--super creamy, rich, and full of flavor. Overall, the bill was surprisingly reasonable given how much quality food we enjoyed. I'll definitely be back to try more of the menu, but especially for that unbelievable gelato!

I've never seen it like this before and it was extremely tasty. Very tender I would certainly get that dish again. And since I am not a pasta eater, I ordered a side vegetable of broccoli Rob.
