Delicious food. Huge portions and super filling! One of the few nice places to go it feels in UCity that don't break the bank. I was impressed with the richness of the flavors. Specialty cocktails are a nice addition to the evening.

    Buffalo chicken pizza
    Alan S.

I got the Buffalo chicken pizza and the broccoli rabe through delivery, which arrived pretty quick and hot. I was craving some simple pizza and while it scratched the itch, it unfortunately didn't taste like much. You mostly just tasted the hot sauce and the broccoli rabe was underwhelming as well. None of it was bad at all, just not what I was hoping for

    Chicken parm panini

I ordered the chicken parm panini, eggplant starter, and a side chicken cutlet for delivery and it was all delicious! The portions were large and there were plenty of leftovers. My only complaint would be that the food was cold. I was also surprised to see that the chicken parm panini was dry and no where near the saucy expectation the menu had set. I would highly suggest asking for a side of marinara, but otherwise it was delicious! Their fries are also to die for. Be sure to get a side of them.

    Rigatoni Vodka with chicken

Soooooo delicious!! We ordered this on a whim because they had a buy one, get one free deal on UberEats and it was the best decision we ever made. I got the rigatoni vodka with chicken, and it was so good. Portions are amazing. I ate this and still had leftovers for the next day. Definitely recommend everyone giving this spot a try!

This place is on South Street. And I'm really glad that it opened up because we need more solid businesses here. I come here after work when I need a carb meal. The prices are really good. They do have lunch specials and I highly recommend the chicken Parmesan.

Cheese with a side of crust?
    Ann V.

Gave it another try... shame on me. Ordered a stromboli - the outside had no flavor and of course too much cheese on the inside. Ordered plain french fries to be cooked well done and guess what? They gave me CHEESE fries that were cold and soggy. Back to cheese overload.

    Soggy pizza

I think some of those reviews about great service, and the businesses description about cocktails is for LaScala Fire on Chestnut Street. This site is the pizza place called LaScala Pronto on South St. It has about 7 tables but is really like a take out place. The pizza tasted ok, good amount of cheese and sauce. However, the sauce was a bit sweet. Too much sugar. Not enough spice. Also, it was way undercooked. Soggy. I looked at a picture on this site that someone uploaded and it seems their pizza was soggy too. I really don't get it. If you are the one cooking it, just look at it, check the bottom, keep it in another 5 minutes. It really made it way too hard to eat. If I try it again, I will most certainly tell them I want it crispy. So, considering the over sweet sauce and the soggy way they gave it to me, I can't give more than 3 stars. The search for excellent pizza in Philly continues.....

Order from this place if you want a stomach ache. The pizza is so greasy. They must use lowwww quality ingredients to let off this much grease.. This is worse than a 10$ college football pizza.

I was craving a truffle mushroom pizza and found this place on here and I also have been craving tiramisu so I ordered from here on doordash, going in blindly. After I placed my order I came to yelp to read the reviews and was so worried that it wouldn't be good upon reading all of the recent negatives reviews. My only complaint would be that the tiramisu could have more espresso flavor. Other than that, this place nailed it, I will be ordering again

I wanted to get there soon after they opened so we wouldn't have to wait a long time, but we slept in and didn't make it until around 11:40 am. We waited in line less than 10 minutes and we placed our electronic order. We requested two traditional cheesesteaks and a pepperoni pizza. Then we left and walked around the neighborhood a little. We found a place nearby to sit and waited for the text message indicating our food was ready. Not long after, we got the text message. I headed to back to the restaurant and stood in a short second line to pay. Once I paid, we grabbed our food and drinks and went back to our spot. Lots of people were sitting around eating and raving about the food. The sandwiches were large and heavy. The first bite was incredible. The flavors of the bread, cheese, and steak hit you. They were very rich and decadent. It was a delicious cheesesteak. The bread was of the highest quality. I don't think the sesame seeds were necessary, but they do convey quality from the housemade bread. The cheesesteak was incredible and very filling. I only ate half of one, since they were so big. The pepperoni pizza was also incredible. It's one of the best that I've had. The undercarriage of the slices were crispy and thin. The flavors were excellent. The quality was excellent. I wish I had this pizza in my neighborhood. The system they have set up is quick and efficient. They serve a massive amount of food in a short amount of time. There were a bunhc of employees cranking out sandwiches just behind the counter. Very well run. Very well done.

Reservations are a good idea since it can get busy. To start, we shared a fresh goat cheese salad along with the following entrees , including short rib over polenta, mushroom pasta, grape leaves, and an octopus salad. For dessert, we had the salted caramel boudino, which was a perfect way to end the meal--rich, smooth, and not overly sweet. While I might choose another place for takeout, when the goal is a night of pizza, wine, great atmosphere, and authentic neighborhood vibes, this is usually where we end up. The space is bright, industrial, airy, and thoughtfully designed but unforced. White walls, warm wood, considered lighting, and a floor plan with real breathing room. The vibe recalls Bucktown, Wicker Park, Williamsburg, and Greenpoint: design-forward but genuinely local. There's a great bar, and booths near the kitchen with glass windows that let you watch the staff. Our three-year-old was mesmerized, and the staff was warm and playful, smiling and waving while they cooked. A small detail, but memorable. The crowd feels local. Good music, friendly people, hip but never pretentious. It's just a fun place to be with great service, too. The food is outstanding. We usually order the chicories caesar with grana padano and breadcrumbs, and the lettuce salad with shaved vegetables and creamy oregano dressing. For pizza, we love the arrabbiata (the Angry pie) and tomato pie with sausage and pickled chilies. My wife enjoys the ice cream. A note on bringing kids: I don't think this is a family restaurant, but if your kids are curious and well-behaved, it's absolutely worth bringing them earlier in the evening. We've gone around 4:30 or 5:00 on weekends and always felt comfortable. One time, our daughter had a full meltdown, and we were mortified, but the staff couldn't have been cooler. They packed everything to go, kindly and without any judgment. That kind of grace is hard to fake, and it genuinely stuck with us. Pricing is fair for the quality of the food and the experience. Places like this can seem overrated or overpriced, but this one doesn't. It offers real value for a memorable night out. The whole restaurant feels like a microcosm of Philadelphia's progressive, creative side. There's real ambition behind it, but it still feels human and grounded, nothing sterile, nothing corporate, nothing over-engineered. Just smart people building a cool neighborhood place that others actually want to spend time in. Oh, and make a reservation. Great spot, Joe. We'll be back soon. Thank you!

The hostess took our coats (a nice touch!) and then a rotation of two servers explained the specials and we ordered. I love that the menu is on the shorter side and they rotate the pizza offerings, so even if you're visiting on a regular basis, you'll always be able to try something new. Additionally, when a menu is only about 2 pages, you know everything on those two pages is top notch, as was the case at Pizzeria Beddia. This evening we got the meatballs (didn't take a photo, was too excited, but they were HUGE and excellent) and the beef, pork and veal balls with a rich red sauce was outstanding. Came in an order of 2 but one was plenty for each of us. The Pizza we got had potatoes on it, and we added sausage per the servers recommendation, and it was cooked perfectly and all of the flavors blended so well together. We are so lucky to have an amazing (and nationally recognized!) pizza spot in the neighborhood and it's always nice when you can walk in without a reservation from time to time.

EXCELLENT LATE-NIGHT STOP! MUST TRY!…read more We walked in about an hour before closing on a Thursday night--never an ideal entrance. You know the look. The polite smile that says "it's fine" while the eyes say "it is absolutely not." Totally understandable. No one loves a near-close order. I even acknowledged it out loud--apologized, explained we weren't from the area, and that we were just trying to grab a quick bite because it was one of the few places still open. She said it was okay. Her face said otherwise. Fair enough. Here's where it turned around. The pizza came out hot, fresh, and legitimately impressive. Not "good for late night" good--just plain good. Every bite was fresh, the ingredients tasted clean, and the pizza clearly hadn't been rushed or phoned in despite the timing. Hunger probably helped, but even factoring that out, this was a standout. Honestly, I was kicking myself for not ordering an extra one to go before leaving the city. That's how good it was. We did try to get drinks, but were told the soda machine was down. The nozzles were off, so I'm guessing it was a cleaning/end-of-night thing. I won't ding them for it--though let's be real, tossing nozzles in sanitizer isn't exactly a marathon. Still, not a deal-breaker. Restaurant was clean, but of course, they were near closing. I tipped her a few bucks for staying late, and left genuinely satisfied. Bottom line: the food carried this experience completely. If you're visiting Philadelphia and need a reliable, fresh, late-night bite, &Pizza is absolutely worth the stop. Sometimes the places you expect the least end up delivering the most. I plan to 100000% return (and it'll probably be near closing time again, too)
