Our server was very nice and friendly, but the service was very slow. My husband ordered spaghetti and meatballs, but it came with angel hair pasta instead. The angel hair pasta was over-cooked so it was a bit mushy. I ordered the Fettuccine Bolognese and although the sauce was very good, the fettuccine was under-cooked. So it was tough. We also ordered the Margherita pizza as an appetizer, but it turned out to be nothing more than a plain cheese pizza with just a few slivers of basil. I had 21 people for lunch on the 18t of May and had made reservations weeks in advance. I asked to be seated on the covered patio so we would have shade and also asked if we would have more than one waitress for our group and they said, Of Course, we would probably have 2 or 3. When we arrived they had us set up on the brick patio with umbrellas on a long table. The umbrellas did not provide shade for all and of course, the sun moved during the time we were there and more people were forced to be in the sun. The patio was empty when we arrived and I stated that we were supposed to be seated on the covered patio and they refused telling me that if I didn't agree to be seated on the brick patio with umbrellas then I could go somewhere else - very rude. During the lunch, we asked for more shade and she provided another umbrella in a stand that was broken and the umbrella tipped at a 45-degree angle. We told her that the stand was broken and she assured us that it would be OK and this was used all the time. About 5 minutes later the umbrella crashed to the ground barely missing about 3 diners. We let out a scream and angrily told her that this is what we were worried about. She did not apologize but said that a gust of wind came up and that was the problem. She should have realized that this was going to happen, but instead brushed it off as if it was no big thing. This was a potential lawsuit waiting to happen. in conclusion, I was lied to about the accommodations and was subjected to an unsafe conditions. DO NOT GO THERE read more

Great food and friendly environment. The pizza here has different crust (not sure I can explain the science, so I won't) than most are accustomed to, but you leave feeling great and not bloated. Very disappointed... I'll start by saying we never actually got to eat at the restaurant so the food may be amazing... but we were treated so poorly by the hostess that we never got that far. First, we had a reservation made via Yelp (we normally use Open Table so this was new to us but we had the confirmation). She informed us that the reservation had been canceled by the customer so she couldn't help us. We said that wasn't the case, we hadn't cancelled, here we were. She said that's what I show here and I have no tables. She literally walked away. It was almost as if she got pleasure saying she had nothing... we just stood there and the others around us looked at us saying they had made reservations on Yelp as well and commiserated. We walked away, there are a million other restaurants around to eat at, but oddly enough we were able to make a reservation for 15 minutes later on Yelp. Oh and when we immediately canceled we got an email saying we had canceled... it's not about who was right or wrong. If she would have just said it shows you guys canceled but if you just wait a bit, we'll get you in, we would have had no issue! She was downright nasty! read more

First of all, if you haven't had pinsa, you must try it! While visiting my friend in Cave Creek we came across this place on Yelp and headed there on Friday night, taking 2 seats at the bar. The two bartenders/brothers, Michael and Benjamin, were quite the team; and Federico, the owner who brought this lovely pinsa straight from Italy, gave us the whole explanation. He's a wonderful host and the owner of this tiny, but quaint restaurant. We had the spinach salad and had to get extra balsamic dressing because it was fantastic (and save some to dip your pinsa in!). Ordered the Atomica and 4 cheese pizzas and both were delicious, but we preferred the 4 cheese. Had a glass of Montepulciano to go with it and we were both blown away. If you don't like the bloated and dough-filled, heavy feeling after eating a lot of pizza, then try pinsa at Pizzacata. Its light and crispy crust is not to be believed! We went back for lunch today and when I'm back and frozen in Minneapolis, I'll be dreaming about it until can get back here to eat it again! read more

Don't ever order a delivery from here you won't get your food! If you call to ask questions or complain they will not let you talk to a manager and then will hang up on you. I have never experienced such bad customer service in my life. After reading other reviews about this place, it seems many people have had bad service from rude employees! We ate here for lunch today. I must say the outdoor seating area has such a lovely ambiance it was really very enjoyable. We are vegan so there wasn't much selection. My family and I had dinner Monday night. We live in Cave Creek and have been to Pizzicata numerous times before and had positive experiences. Unfortunately, this time I had the Fettuccini Carbonara and became sick about 8 hours after our meal. Without getting too graphic, I've had five different visits to the toilet since 3 AM Tuesday morning, and it is continuing again today. Everything I'm eating is going right through me. I know it was this dish that has caused this issue because everything else I ate on Monday was part of my normal routine, and the ingredients in that dish (egg, cream, meats) would cause this if not handled and prepared properly. The thing that is most annoying about this and the reason I'm putting it out publicly on Yelp is that I reached out the restaurant early yesterday morning through their published email on their website and heard nothing from them. You don't ignore contact from customers who have become sick eating at your restaurant!! If you're going there, DON'T order the Fettuccini Carbonara. read more

I was amazed how bad the food was ! and they are still in business . I ordered Caesar salad. Aweful- chopped iceberg lettuce not romaine, commercially made croutons Yuk and commercial salad dressing. They should be embarrassed to charge $15 for this garbage. Also got a small pizza for $12...beleive me it was small. maybe 7 inches in diameter. My boyfriend and I went here tonight and this place is phenomenal. When we arrived the place was packed, but we were lucky enough to be seated inside within 5 minutes. Unfortunately, it was a bit too loud for us inside and when I asked the hostess and the owner about being moved outside, they were so accommodating and understanding that we were sat right away (again, we were lucky lol). We ordered the calamari and shrimp to start and it was delicious. I loved how light and "delicate" it was compared to other places (heavily breaded). For our main dishes, we ordered the Caesar salad, ravioli lobster, pepperoni pinsa, and lasagna. I know...we ordered a lot of food for two people, but this is homemade and authentic! Overall, we were extremely impressed. My boyfriend loved all the dishes, but lasagna was his favorite. I felt the same, but the pinsa was mine. We just dropped into Pizzicata for the first time and had a late lunch. We were both pleasantly surprised by the outstanding pizza. We had two pizzas. The pepperoni was very good, but the Atomica was outstanding. It is one of the best pizzas we have ever had. Can't wait to go back and try some of their other dishes. This is really a 3.5 stars. We had a reservation last weekend and if you go I recommend making one as this a popular place. We were seated outside and like others we saw the owner walking around and talking to people which is a good sign. He came to our table early in our meal but not again when we would have liked to talk to him. We had two servers- the first was friendly enough but got one drink order wrong. The second server was spunky but wow- the attitude. We started with the meatballs for an appy- which were really tasty and in a great sauce. For dinner two of us had the tortellini which was superb! Presentation is lacking but the taste was fantastic. Maybe some bowls rather than a sterile small white plate would freshen this up. One person had the chicken parm and it was okay. Another had the carbonara which was a recommendation of our server. Apparently it was quite bland and he did not eat it. When he told the server this she said "well your tastebuds need to be checked" HELLO? She took his meal away and never offered to get him anything else or to take it off the bill or even a free dessert! I get that they are a good new restaurant in a small town so right now they can get away with this attitude but it is offensive and this kind of service won't serve them well over the long run. It would have been nice to have the owner check on tables at the end of the meal, but again we did not see him. Maybe he should be bringing the check and talking to patrons then...The tortellini was $22 which is a little high in my opinion, but it was delicious. What a hidden gem nestled at the entrance to the courtyard of the Carefree Spanish Village. The food is authentic and feels like you are eating at a restaurant in Italy. We ordered 2 pizzas (personal size @ $21/each) and chicken Alfredo for $25. The pizzas barely had any sauce. The chicken alfredo tasted like a frozen dinner. We are an Italian family from Lake Como and this is the real deal. I'm so happy that we have a goto trattoria/pizzeria way up in northern Scottsdale. Federico is from Perugia and he has left his cucina genuinely Italian and has not attempted to americanize his wonderful food that would only be damaged by americanization. The pizza is just like what you would get in Rome and the pastas are homemade with delicious authentic sauces. Also, I love the atmosphere. You can eat out on an adorable veranda or eat cooly on the inside which also is a lovely and casual location. We will be once-a-weekers here. When we first started going to Pizzicata, the food was excellent as was the service but things started going south thereafter. Most of the seating is outdoors with a few tables inside. We had a group of 5 and were seated inside with a server who clearly was in over his head! We placed our orders and everyone's meals finally came out except mine. We addressed it with the server and his manager and they admitted they forgot to put it in!!!! They then tried to rush the order and the pasta I received was literally only half-cooked. We then had determined we were going to order a dessert and instead of offering to take the cost of my inedible meal off the ticket, they brought out some cannoli's that one of our guests couldn't eat due to a food allergy and that none of us had wanted. All they would have had to do was offer to remove the cost of my meal and/or ask us if we wanted a particular dessert. We did not go back for sometime but decided last night to give it one more chance by ordering takeout. We placed an order for two pasta dishes - fettuccini alfredo and fettuccini bolognese - NO protein added. We ordered a caesar salad and one lava cake. The order was $80! When we got the order home, the bolognese dish was so dry, I was tempted to add my own tomato paste or water to it as there was no sauce to speak of. The taste was mediocre and our caesar salad was a small bit of lettuce and a few croutons. No parmesan cheese and the alfredo dish was mediocre as well. No bread accompanied the order either. It was clearly another disappointment for which we were heavily charged. This restaurant is no longer a "go to" for us! read more

I can't wait to go back in a few weeks when they have their systems down. Happy to see a full restaurant after only being open a short number of days. I realize they just opened and everything won't be perfection. But the lack of service and communication was unprofessional. We got sat in a back room, and got ignored by all staff until we waved someone down (along with the other 3-4 tables that got sat after us). There seemed to be a common reaction of confusion and lack of training from most of our encounters with the wait staff. Never at any point did the management come to rectify what was going on. We remained patient. But after an hour, we paid for our wine and left. Can't wait to visit in the future with high hopes of excellent service and even better food!
