Very disappointed in our 15" pizzas we got for take out and cost $30. Taste was just ok, but value of food was extremely poor. I should be able to feed 4 people with 2 15" pizzas. Based on the photo when I opened the box, that wasn't possible. Picture shows one 15" margarita pizza for $15 next to my hand for size reference. I made a reservation for a party of eleven for Mother's Day dinner on the patio. Our table was ready upon arrival and the service was absolutely incredible! There was a threat of rain that evening. The owner of the restaurant came over to our table and said they had established seating undercover for us just in case it rained. This might not sound like a big deal but I can assure you it was no easy task considering the restaurant was packed and every table was taken. Now let me share the good stuff. The food was delicious! It was all very authentic. You can trust me on this as half of my guests were from Italy! Make sure to save room for dessert. We ordered one of everything and there is no way I could possibly choose a favorite. My favorite pizza place now! Absolutely delicious!! There were six of us and we got the Misto Fritto di Mare and the Piatto Misto and the big, BIG pinsa Romana to share ( Italian sausage and mushroom). Good was amazing. Eggplant was one of the best I have ever had. The appetizers are too pricey for the quantity. Outdoor dining was great. Unfortunately the server left a lot to be desired. I hate looking at dirty dishes on a table and there were 3 of them. Finally a customer cleaned the table in his line of sight. I can understand when it's busy or you have a big top but 4 tables with 3 couples and one person on the other... that's sad. We were in once before and the service was not very good. If you don't mind waiting a long time the food is worth it. Will pick up and eat at home next time then give it one more try to see if they have improved the service. read more

What a fantastic find in downtown Carefree. True Italian food and exceptional service. We were in Carefree for the Empty Bowls Charity event and ended up here for lunch. Menu was simple but with great authentic choices. I had the Pumpkin Ravioli and what a delicious dish. The sauce was smooth and light and the pumpkin filling was some of the best I have ever had. A great fall classic and done perfectly. The other person with me had the Margherita pizza. They were very happy with the offering. Perfect for single serving and everything from the bread, sauce and cheese was spot on. The service also was very good they even accommodated our dog with a bowl of water and great seating in the patio. I would recommend this place to anyone who enjoys real Italian food. Well this little place really delivers. The owners Federico and Viola are a young couple straight from Umbria region of Italy and doing this the right way "is in their blood". This food is straight from Italy! The menu was excellent and quite large. Good wine list, and the restaurant itself is very simple and nice. Salad portions were large and the ceaser was great. My Lasagna was perfect and very Italian, in that it wasn't humongous, overdone portions like we do in America. The pizza's were the hit of the night and they know it when you are ordering. Nobody has this blend of thick and thin crust. This meal was "the bomb"!!! Can't wait to go back this week. And they do "to go". Saw somebody leaving with 10 pizza's. We just returned to the area from being gone for the summer and were very pleasantly surprised at the new Pizzicata. We ordered take out and LOVED the pizza....love that the ingredients are all natural, from Italy and obviously the owners and chefs have taken great pride in doing something different from the normal pizza. The night we got take out the place was jumping, and every place was filled...love what they have done to the outside patio and we can't wait to try some of their other dishes. We really like the patio area, so quaint but could definitely use a mist system for the summer weather. We've done both dine in and take out. Fettuccine Bolognese and Fettuccine Carbonara con Salsicca are delicious. Polpette al Sugo (meatballs appetizer) and iDelicata pizza are both good too. We've dined in once and had take out once so fat. Dislikes: 1. They do not serve Italian bread or garlic bread. When I requested bread, waitress just says they do not have bread. Didn't try to offer options like bread we got with the meatball appetizer. 2. Got chicken salad to go..the avocado was blackened on half of outer part and it just did not look appealing. We ended up throwing it out. 3. Requested "el dente" on pasta and did not get. I'm thinking perhaps they do not make to order. We will go back but wanted to share the good and the not so good. I do recommend the restaurant especially in the area of Cave Creek. read more

Although I haven't tried everything on the menu the Pinsa (version of pizza) with prosciutto is terrific and same with the fettuccine Alfredo, we found out they make their own noodle in house which is rare these days. This brand new Italian restaurant was highly recommended by the local shop keepers when we were searching for lunch options in Carefree one quiet afternoon. We were delighted with the service, selection, and flavors, and will return next month when we are in town again. We both had pizza, and were impressed with the light, crispy crust and ultra fresh, authentic toppings. Such good flavors! The crust is a work of art, and as one of the owners described it, is quite unique in the States with a combination of soy, rice, and wheat flours. Service was excellent, with the owners stopping by to say hello and check on the quality of our meals. Just listening to their beautiful Italian accents was a pleasure! We heard from them that the restaurant is very busy, and they have to hire a bunch more people to accommodate the crowds for dinner. Good for them! The outdoor seating looks out on palm trees and a lovely fountain frequented by thirsty, happy birds. Excellent all around! read more

Well Pizzicata is my favorite place to eat Margarita Pizza with a nice Pino.. Heaven on Earth! It has ruined it for me as I cant eat anywhere else in the valley now.. does not measure up. I have a rentals in Carefree The Casita and Mini Estancia :) and I always recommend this place. My tenants have thanked me for recommending this place so will continue to do so. read more

We had a delicious lunch and desert. We love their menu and food. Bravo! The service and atmosphere are excellent. However, one important complaint which can easily be rectified. The manager uses a very loud voice when on the phone and with delivery men. She would be no more than 5-10 feet away which made it difficult for us to chat and visit. Please be courteous to your customers and use your discretion when speaking in front of them. read more

What a gem! I was invited to go and check out this new pizza place! Pizzicata!! Well, being an Italian myself, this dinner - by far -exceeded my expectations! The dough is made with non GMO wheat, soya and rice; it is much easier to digest, due to its different hydration. It is called Pinsa Romana! All the toppings (prosciutto, Buffalo mozzarella, tomatoes, to name a few) tasted delicious and fresh! The tiramisu was simply divine, so were the espresso and the Pinot Grigio Delle Dolomiti! Four of us went Saturday night and had a fabulous eggplant Parmesan appetiser, soooo good. We also had the atomic pizza which was delicious. Just the right amount of spicy and the crust was very light and delicious. We had a chance to taste some of the homemade pastas, like the raviolis and tortellini with red sauce. So light and flavourful. Oh, and the calamari was crispy and light. Highly recommended! There is a very nice outdoor patio with lots of seating. The inside is small with a good size bar. This place is family run and the chef and owners take pride in everything they serve. I will definitely return! read more

My wife and I are both retired, we consider our selves foodies, settling into a nice life in Carefree, we went to Pizzicata on Saturday and had a wonderful experience, although busy our server was apologetic (regarding food wait time) and attentive to our needs, the food was excellent and the wine fantastic. The thin crust pizza is some of the best I have had in a while, it is not heavy and felt healthy. The gnocchi was light and fluffy and the pesto seemed home made. I will mention that the restaurant seemed understaffed and a little unorganized (not to a detriment). Our waiter was the talk of the restaurant, a tall, dark, handsome man (wifes observations ;-)), who spoke Italian (it seemed, although we can not verify ;-)) he brought some character and spice to the restaurant experience and we enjoyed him as our server. Looking forward to our next Pizzicata experience. read more

This lil cute restaurant brings me back in time. It reminds me of a pizza spot down the sandy road at our family lake cottage in Canada where I grew up going to. Pizzicatta has a hometown, very casual, quaint excellent Italian food spot. They offer indoor and outdoor seating. Their pizzicata is my favorite pizza. It has sweet honey and arugula on it. Who would have thought to put honey on pizza. It gives just the right amount of sweetness and with the peppery arugula it's such a great combination with all the other toppings. It's like no other. The owners are from Italy and have been sharing their family recipes with locals, snowbirds & visitors for many years. Another important fact to share is the dough they use for their pasta dishes and pizza it exactly what they use in Italy. All of the unhealthy ingredients that are used in United States restaurants are eliminated from their ingredients when making their pasta and pizza dough. Every time I eat here I leave with a satisfied belly. I never feel stuffed and uncomfortable. It's so satisfying to eat excellent food and feel great when finishing your meal. Sadly, I write this review. This has been my go to place for pizza for the last 5 months. At least 10 visits with out of town guests. Always a table of four. Sadly the last two visits have been regrettable. The food was still good, if it arrived, but they have serious staffing issues. Either no staff, or poorly trained staff with little or no experience. it has been hit or miss on the hospitality side. It ranges from excellent service to down right rude behavior. I had hoped to discuss with the owner rather than write this review, but on both occasions, was told the owner wasn't available. Current staff and management does not care, if you don't like it here, "Go somewhere else"! The news media has been telling stories of restaurants having staffing problems. Sadly this restaurant has a management problem, lack of management experience, absent owner, and finding and training staff. So I will do what the last manager suggested, "Go somewhere else". Hope your experience is one of the good ones, if not, you may want to go to one of the many good restaurants in Carefree and Cave Creek. read more
