We heard good things about this place, coming up from Phoenix, and they have great reviews. We ordered the pizza so that changes things, but it arrived cold and extremely floppy and soft... there was no undercarriage whatsoever. No crisp. Just dough. But the flavor was fantastic so I want to give them another shot, perhaps dining in next time. Definitely worth another shot for the flavor! This has been on my list for years - finally made it! Customer service was meh - we were stopped outside and asked where we wanted to sit before even coming in. The inside is quaint - a community table and a bar. We ordered the pizza special with tomato sauce, shallots, onions, and speck - it was thin and delicate and delicious, excellent flavor combo! The gelato flight was also fantastic! My favs were the olive oil and the chocolate sea salt - it was so creamy - homemade, and great! Our waitress tried to take my silverware and napkin away in the middle of the meal. The pizza came with 4 big pieces, it was all enough for 2 of us to share. Pizzicletta is a tiny restaurant squeezed into the tip of an old building at the cross streets of W. Phoenix Ave. and S. Mikes Pike St. in downtown Flagstaff, Arizona. It's in the area with lots of popular restaurants, so parking and seating will be difficult if at busy times. My daughters and I drove by once at dinner and it was just too busy so we found another spot. Yesterday, Monday, it was a bit after noon and the street was quiet. Perfect time to try this spot. We found free parking right away, a minute walk away, and were seated immediately at the end of a long galley-style table. There was a group of three at the other end of the table (seats maybe 16 people), and a couple out on the patio, near the takeout window. The long table has a stand traveling the table so food can be set there, above, and doesn't take space away from the diner's plates. This place has excellent Yelp ratings for their wood-fired Neapolitan-style pizzas and simple fare, inspired by cycling through Italy. Even their wines are natural and/or organic. The gelato here is Housemade with a new special flavor each week. Dough used for the pizza crust is a leavened sourdough that they make in-house. I noticed and loved all of these high quality, healthy details. Our server was the greatest! We took a lot of their good suggestions while ordering. We ordered: - Bottle of Mexican Coca-Cola - Warm Olives to share - Burrata Caprese with Focaccia to share - Diavola Red Pizza - House Mozzarella, Pepperoni, Honey, Pecorino, Chili Oil, Parm-Regg, Oregano to share (comes cut in four pieces) - Amore Oi Mari White Pizza - Mascarpone, Pecorino, Prosciutto, Arugula, Lemon EVOO to share (comes cut in four pieces) - Housemade Gelato Tasting Flight of 4: 1. The girls said I'd think the Diavola was too spicy but, no, it had great flavor and balance. I finish a slice no problem. I think this was my favorite of the two. The girls weren't as crazy about the pizzas for the same reason I loved them - too simple. They wanted more toppings and sauce, probably similar to pizza they are used to. Every time my wife and I drive up to flagstaff we love stopping at Pizzicletta. Flavor wise, I absolutely love their pizzas! There was one that we ordered that we thought lacked flavor, but that was more based on subjective preference than objective truth. This last visit was a bit different as we took our puppy with us for the first time. They were quick to seat us in the pet-friendly patio and give our pupper a water bowl. We received great customer service here on Saturday night. We stopped by for dinner and quickly checked in with the host. She was very welcoming and let us know that we would get a txt when our table was ready. In total, we waited about 20 minutes for an outside table. Once seated, menus were dropped off and so was water. Our server was super friendly and attentive throughout our entire meal. We ordered one shot of the crema de limoncello and one Margherita pizza + pepperoni. The shot came out right away and pheww was this thing strong, but it was good. The pizza came out not long after and it looked and smelled delicious. I took my first bite and was quickly disappointed that my slice was lukewarm and not hot. By the time I grabbed myself another slice, it was cold. Not sure if our pizza was left out for a few minutes or so but it was not hot when we got it. This place was very courteous considering we accidentally went without knowing it was graduation day (for a high school, maybe?) so it was slammed, but they put us up at the bar, and the pizza was great. It has a handmade feel and it's in a brick oven like you'd hope for from a good Boston pizza place, a pleasant treat in the middle of northern Arizona. The special was a pizza with arugula, balsamic vinegar, and sliced tomato, which is actually a pizza I make at home so my bar was pretty high. They did a great job for a US restaurant. The worst thing about US pizzas with sliced tomatoes is they're usually these tragic watery, flavorless, light pink nomatoes grown for trucking but terrible to eat. They must have a better source for their tomatoes because they were clearly closer to heirloom in size and color. Better than most US tomatoes - not Italy or home garden good, but good. They had a nice selection of local beers on tap, and some good wines, so it was a nice all around experience. It's also impressive just how much they can fit in such a small angular space. The only thing you might not like is if you searched "pizza" and were looking for a standard place with sizes like Medium, Large, this is not that, and it's going to be more expensive than that kind of pizza place. The pizzas are all one size and serve about 1.5 people, so if you grab 2 for 2 you'll have some to take home and look forward to. read more

This place is one of the best rated pizza places in the area. Hmmmmmmmm. The pizza may just not be my thing. Very chewy. Undercooked and burnt at the same time. The crust tasted like a pastry. In my opinion the pizza was sub par at best. But wait it doesn't end there. Whatever you do not ask to sit inside. You'll be escorted to a cafeteria community table with limited personal space. If you like to hear other people's conversations all throughout your dining experience then this could be a catch. Quaint, very much like a New York diner or pizzeria. I love it! Service was excellent. It felt like it was instant that the food came out once we ordered. We ordered 2 pies, the warm olives, & a burrata. A little disappointed (for me) that they did not have any more of the salted caramel gelato (vegan). Price point is perfect! This was my second visit and am so thankful for such a delicious spot! We had tried it years ago when visiting, and had insisted my friend go with me on this trip. Did not disappoint at all! They have outside seating as well as inside and given the gorgeous day we sat out. There are several small tables under a canopy so it is very stroller and dog friendly. The special was amazing - a white pizza with garlic and basil and not sure what all else. I ate every last. It's! The crust is thinner but chewy and flavorful with the perfect rise. It also had just enough toppings to be perfect and the flavors popped. I love that they have vegan cheese and toppings and have some alternative gelatos as well. If you are looking for a spot to grab a good pie close to downtown Flagstaff, look no further. Pizzicletta is a tiny little pizza shop that is a must try. It is quaint, intimate, and rustic in size; yet mighty in flavor. The staff were incredibly knowledgable about their menu items and were able to answer any questions that my party had. The menu is simple and their pizza's are categorized by white sauce and red sauce. Unfortunately, since the restaurant itself is so tiny, it felt very crowded and got really loud with just a few parties dining inside. It felt a little awkward because a job interview for Pizzicletta was happening at the table next to us and not in private so most patrons heard the interview. Everything we ordered was delicious, fresh, and visually appeasing. Depending on how hungry you are, the pies feed 1-2 people. The pizza reminds me of classic Italian pizza; ingredients well thought out and paired but not overwhelming the simplicity of a basic pie. Thin undercarriage and an airy/light crust is Pizzicleta's method of operation. We did not try any of their homemade gelato but it seemed to be a fan favorite amongst other patrons. There is just something special about small little spots that offer a simple menu with fresh ingredients. You can taste the difference in their pizza because its made with love and care. The Margherita had absolutely no taste at all and the crust could barely support the toppings which were only three; sauce, cheese and basil. I would have been better off just eating the box that it came in. The Daviola did fare better in that it had chili oil on it. But again, the crust was barely able to stand up to the toppings. Oh my goodness. If you have one meal in Flagstaff, it should be this. The pizzas are absolutely perfect. The most similar to Italy that I've had in the states. The gelato is so extraordinary, it's hard to pick a favorite. They even have vegan items for us lactose-intolerant losers, but I recommend bringing your lactase pills, because the EVOO gelato is not to be missed. (And go to Foret down the street to get it in the affogato.) We also got the cheesy flatbread app, which is basically just pizza without sauce, and I would absolutely recommend it. The quality of cheese here is unparalleled. I can't wait to go back again. However, so be aware it may be quite difficult to get a table. There's almost nowhere to sit inside. I recommend outside anyway, it's so hot inside. We went at a non-mealtime and still got the last free table. We did see some people walk up and order to-go. Particularly the gelato. read more

Caught Pizzicletta's truck at Tap & Bottle in Tucson. My friends and I got a pizza each to share. I got to try the Bees Knees, Margarista, and the pepperoni. All of them were great and the Bees Knees was my favorite. The Bees Knees is pizza with sausage and honey. It was sweet and savory. All the flavors were well balanced. Pizzicletta calls themselves naturally fermented. I was curious and asked what that meant. They get their yeast from the air, similar to sour dough. The service was fast and friendly. Great find after hiking the Campbell-Mesa Trail nearby. The place was getting quite busy for dinner and a line was forming in front of the restaurant. Make sure to confirm with the person taking your reservation that the number they entered is correct. You will be instructed that you would receive 2 texts from the restaurant, the first to confirm your number and a second to let you know your table is ready. I decided to explore the streets nearby and several minutes passed by before I realized I never received the first text. I decided to head back to the restaurant to confirm that the number they entered was correct. They acknowledged that the number they had for my reservation may have been entered incorrectly but that my table was ready. Despite the misunderstanding, service was quick and responsive. I opted to dine outside as it was a pleasant day. The patio area is a bit cramped but cozy and super pup friendly. I ordered the margherita pizza and a coffee gelato. The pizza was not as crispy as I would have liked and was a bit more chewy than I expected but the flavor was great! Beyond the Margherita & pepperoni pizzas, the remaining few pizza choices are rather odd. The salad selection looked good & seemed popular. My husband & I ordered a couple of pepperoni pizzas and they were the worst pizzas I've ever tasted. Granted, I'm an Italian New Yorker but my tastes & expectations have seriously re-adjusted after living in Phoenix for 25 years. Both pies were ridiculously salty (probably from the excessive combination of cheeses used). I literally scraped the entire topping off the pizza. I was then left with a very bland doughy tasting crust. The dough is definitely over processed & under cooked. The philosophy here seems to be that as long as you have a bit of charring from a wood fired oven, you can throw any combo of any and everything on top and all is good. I make wood fired pizza at home & I truly believed that it was impossible to make a bad pizza. This place proved me wrong. We arrived thirsty & hungry after a day of roaming around Flag & Sedona. We actually left leaving beer & pizza on the table and it wasn't because of the quantity food and drink. I've separately reviewed Dark Sky Brewing since drinks are provided by a separate restaurant. Overall, this was a very disappointing lunch featuring a couple of salty doughy tasting pepperoni pizzas & a few terrible tasting watery beers.
