You have to really pay attention to find it but worth the hunt. My boyfriend and I think it is the best seafood we've eaten. I had the Lobster boil and he had the Louisiana boil. Plus lobster Mac and cheese and corn bread. Yum! Way more food than we could eat so come hungry. read more

The first time I ordered from here, the food was plentiful and great! The second time I ordered the same thing and it was like my order it was cut in half and charged the same price! The fish was very small and the price really wasn't reasonable. The potato salad was nothing special - tasted like supermarket potato salad! The only redeeming thing was the cornbread, which I can tell was homemade. Jury is still out on this place. Hopefully I'll have a better experience if I try it again. read more

I really don't know where all these 5-star reviews ate at, my family hardly had the experience with these glowing reviews. We looked forward to our meal after reading these amazing mouth-watering reviews. We ordered their "famous Soups." We had the Crab soup. The flavor was pretty good, but where was the crab? We looked, searched, and examined. A small amount of crab was found. It was expensive, so I would think there would be more crab in the crab soup. Ok, the flavor was good. Let's get to the"entrees." My wife ordered the New Jersey Boil. Oh dear, what an underwhelming gigantically expensive miss. First, the seafood was so SMALL that it's easy to consider this restaurant purchases the least expensive seafood ingredients. The mussels were half a pinky finger size, the clams were super tiny, and the snow crab cluster was so tiny that Chinese buffets have double the size if that were possible. The Scallops were thumbnail size. Like really? Where are these huge portions reviewed by others? We want that! But the most egregious error was the total lack of ANY flavor. ANY!! Maybe it was because there was maybe a 1/2 ladle of Garlic and butter sauce? It was dishwater. We didn't taste the butter and certainly not garlic. Just dishwater. thin flavorless moisture. Each of our guests ordered the New England boil. Oh, my word! The Lobster tail was probably 3oz. The Shrimp was a decent size. The Mussels and clams were ridiculously small. Cheap. The corn was a joke. They cut the cobs into, my guess 4s. Plus, the Corn was not sweet, like other summer corn. Really? What are we, toddlers? The sausage was another insult. Come on... it's an inexpensive ingredient. They slice the sausage into slivers, like the coin, or quarters. I don't think there were more than 10 slivers of sausage in each 1/2 empty tin. Now, here is the crusher. It comes with potatoes. POTATOES!! Hello!!! They dice the Potatoes into very small squares. So small and so few of these ingredients. Plus, because they are so finely diced, they begin to break down in the very little flavorless broth. So..after this underwhelming, very little value, we went to another restaurant to get something to eat. We really were looking forward to this meal, only to be extremely disappointed with both value and taste. We were embarrassed that we talked up this place with our guests. Never again. read more

As I waited 45 minutes with no offer of any appetizer or anything to keep us somewhat patient. Then for 20 Takeout Drivers came & went with gigantic bags. None of the patrons on outside tables got their food. Our server tried his best was apologizing then the owner came out and made himself the star "We're Best in NJ" "We got slammed, Would you like to be on our email mailing list for specials?" It may be considered small with only 3 tables inside and 4 tables outside but they make up for it with a healthy portion of seafood mixed with kielbasa or egg. After reading a number of glorious reviews one mentioning that you haven't been to the shore until you've eaten at this place we decided to give it a try. It's a no frills tiny hall in the wall with a few tables inside and some outside. Which I guess is fine being you are at the beach. The menu has a number of boil offerings and appetizers as well as sides. We got the Jersey boil as well as a crab cake and crab roll. The food took a little while to come out but when it finally did it was not spectacular it was average. One thing that really disappointed was the amount of salt used in all the dishes. The crab legs in the boil were almost inedible as the meat was so salty. The crab cake was dry and also very salty. We wanted to order a lobster roll but the person who took our order highly recommended the crab roll which was just ok NOT the best thing on the menu as he suggested. Freshly prepared seafood in my eyes doesn't need a ton of salt. If you are one who prefers to taste the seafood you may want to try a different place of perhaps ask for them to hold the salt. read more

I don't even like seafood but I tried (and loved) everything that we ordered. The owner was incredibly friendly and hilarious. He made you feel like you were an honored guest in his home. Had some food delivered to our hotel while spending the weekend in AC a few months ago. The lobster tail was spoiled in our seafood boil. Good thing the smell was pungent enough to stop us in our tracks before taking a bite out of one. The mac and cheese tasted good and so did the potato salad (which we tried before discovering the rotten lobster tail). Unfortunately once we all got a whiff of the lobster tail we couldnt proceed with eating anything else. When we called to let them know they were apologetic and refunded our money with no hassle. It's a dive which could be a good thing but wasn't. Started with the lobster bisque. A cream of cream soup that barely had lobster flavor, certainly no "bits" or traces of real lobster. If you're a seafood place - make your own lobster bisque or don't offer it. Truly takes away from the meal. Then had the air-fried clam strips - not sure if there was any clam in there, just tasted like breading. Yuk!!! Main course was the Jersey boil with blue crab. I have never been served a crab with so little meat. I know prices are rising due to COVID but again don't offer it if you can't deliver. The scallops were very small but tasty The shrimp was a good size and also tasty. Mussels and clams were ok. The staff was overwhelmed and it showed. Had to laugh that we asked for a wet nap and were given ONE tiny one each. But the manager did say we could wash our hands if we wanted to. Sad. I got a single serving of the Maryland boil, so good! Lots of flavor & huge portion for 1 person! The corn bread is so good, it was still warm. Horrible experience, we knew they'd be busy on a holiday weekend so we made sure to order early, 2:00 asked to pick it up at 7:30, no problem, paid (over $400), told to come back at 7:30, it'd be ready. Came back at 730, was quite obvious that not only was our order not ready, it hadn't even been started yet. Was told it'd be ready in 10 minutes. 45 minutes later staff are getting nasty with my wife and I as we asked how much longer it'd be. Eventually get order home and to find the shrimp terrible, almost inedible and one boil missing scallops. PJs is a new casual seafood restaurant in Ventnor. The food, mostly shellfish, can be ordered with various spices including Cajun, NJ, Maryland, Carolina and New England styles. You can also build your own dish. All the food was fresh and delicious. I would stick with the shrimp and king crab. The crawfish don't have a whole lot of meat. While the food was tasty, not enough portion for the price! (Corn and potatoes are cheap, they could have added more of the vegetables if they didn't want to add seafood). We ordered the N. Jersey boil and the online menu and menu at the restaurant said it included scallops and clams...there were NO scallops or clams!! Also, most of the mussel shells were empty. Such a fun night at PJ Buckets for dinner. We were greeted by Paul the owner. Super friendly and funny. A few tables inside but the night was perfect for outdoor dining. Super casual. It's BYOB and they were so great to provide a bucket of ice. (There is a liquor store down the block if you forget or need seconds!) We ordered two doubles for a party of 4 to try the different flavor boils they offered. We also tried the lobster bisque and New England chowder. Both were so tasty and you can tell it was homemade. We had the Jersey Shore and The New England. So much fresh seafood and cooked perfectly. You will not be disappointed. The clams were sweet. The shrimps had a good bite. Lobster tails were meaty. Mussels were plump. The King crab legs were succulent. Scallops - wanted more! Sweet Jersey corn hit the spot. The cornbread-yum. We stuff ourselves and still had leftovers!
