They take reservations... they just don't hold them. We arrived exactly on time for a 7PM reservation and were told that it would be a good 30 minutes because because they had just seated guests at all indoor tables. I would recount the conversation but suffice it to say it felt like the airline with David Spade in Tommy Boy. Came for restaurant week. Owner was very personable and the food was delicious. For the appetizer, I had an amazing lobster bisque with huge chunks of lobster and the extremely fresh and tasty mussels in the NJ sauce. My entree was the Crawfish roll in their animal style which was with butter and garlic. I have been to AC dozens of times since I was a kid and I can honestly say I never had a reason to go into Ventnor City, now I do. Located directly after the Dorset Ave bridge is my new go to for a great seafood boil. Pj Buckets Seafood is situated in a small house like structure. We were welcomed by Austin and Joan and instructed on the different seafood packages. Austin explained the menu like a school teacher, and coincidentally he told us he was a school teacher. The menu was varied with multiple choices to customize any selection. The owner Joan, was welcoming and her home made corn bread with the secret family recipe was spectacular. The seafood was fresh and not overly seasoned. I've had seafood boils that were over seasoned and overwhelmed by the spices. The seating is limited and consisted of picnic tables and small tables that can seat a small group. Go early and beat the crowd. It's BYOB but they are more than willing to give you a bucket and ice to chill your drinks. I definitely recommend them, I will be returning. Thanks again for a great meal. read more

Just tried this seafood boil restaurant for the first time. WOW WOW WOW! We selected our own ingredients and had the Louisiana seasoning. Shrimp, Crab, scallops, mussels, and clams were tender and full of flavor. We also tried the lobster bisque and fried clam strips. If I could give 10 stars, I would. Great place to get a great deal on fresh seafood and support a small, family-owned business. We wanted something off the beaten path on a recent trip to Atlantic City, and we found this place in Ventnor. It's tiny inside, but there are plenty of tables outside during warmer weather. We showed up on lobster boil night and were treated to a lot of food for a small price! The only drawback was potatoes--they were practically raw.
