So we were wandering around The Domain and wanted to grab a bite for a mid afternoon snack. We got 8 oysters, the fish tacos, the crab cakes, and the roasted brussel sprouts. The oysters and the miso roasted brussel sprouts were quite good. The crab cakes, in comparison, were lackluster. They (two patties total) measured about maybe a touch under 1cm in height and about 4cm in diameter. They were also a bit overcooked and ended up being a bit on the chewier side as well. It was paired with a sour cabbage slaw and sour chipotle looking cream sauce beneath it. At $22, it was really disappointing (especially coming from a place that supposedly specializes in seafood). The fish tacos, at close to $20, comes as 2 tacos and fries. We had the blackened (rather than fried) version, and again, for a place that specializes in seafood, it was just.... Ok. For a total of about $90 pre tax and tip, it was a significant amount of money for simply mediocre food. Service was also quite disappointingly slow at 2pm on a Saturday when the place was only perhaps half full. What you're paying for is the "Domain tax". It was a nice ambiance, and the dining views were upscale; however, I'd rather look at dreary surroundings with excellent food rather than the other way around. read more

Had the absolute pleasure to get to dine here during the soft open on Saturday, March 27. I do not have enough vocabulary to describe the outstanding service and delicious food. From the moment we arrived and were welcomed in, everything was a delight. The drinks - amazing - my personal favorite is the Island Hopper - a unique twist combining gin, IPA, and pineapple for the perfect refresher. The yellowtail sashimi was perfection. We enjoyed pickled shrimp, calamari, bbq okra (so delicious!), and brussels sprouts to start the meal. The youngest and pickiest member of our party was not disappointed with his bento box style kid's meal, complete with fresh fruit and gummy snacks. Our mains were incredible. Plank boasts its wood-fired components, but they really shine through in the delicious salmon and coal fired beets. The scallop dish took the cake with beautiful golden caviar and tasty pasta and even those in our party who ordered a simple burger or soft-shelf crab sandwich were highly satisfied. For me, the sleeper that stole the show was the Thai Clam Chowder. DO NOT MISS THIS! I savored every bite. It's a wonderful combination of flavors with the perfect amount of spice. We ended our meal with the chocolate terrine - decadent and perfectly paired with the peanut butter ice cream. I cannot wait to go back. The service provided by Ken and the rest of the team was absolutely exceptional. I was shocked this was their first evening as they appeared to function like a cohesive and well-oiled machine. This was our first time at Plank in the Domain. Absolutely fantastic!!! We came for a late lunch early dinner, and from the moment we got here til we left - it was an A+ experience. My husband got 1/2 dozen oysters to start and they were fresh and he says delicious (I don't do oysters). I got the golden beets and they were like a little explosion of yumminess with every bite! Even my veggie hating husband loved them!! Then we shared the fried flounder and fries and a side of the macaroni and cheese. Perfection! The manager visited us and was so nice! Took my wife there last night to celebrate her birthday (she loves seafood) and it was perfect. Our server, Sara M, was super friendly and attentive, and gave great recommendations. Felt like an old friend who happened to be your server for a night. Other staff that came by to drop off food or drinks were also very attentive and checked in on us, which was a pleasant surprise. I had the Fried Flounder, which was delicious and perfectly breaded, but the star of the show was easily my wife's Ahi Tuna. It was perfectly cooked and the noodles it came with tasted magical. The ambiance and decor were lovely. Upscale without being ritzy so you felt at ease. For drinks I had a Strawberry Surfer and she had a Passion Palmer (non-alcoholic). Both were perfectly balanced and delicious. Will definitely be going back in the future! read more

Food here is super delicious. Their menu offerings aren't extremely extensive, but there is something for everyone and the combinations of ingredients and flavors are really innovative. I had a Thai Clam Chowder and Sea Scallops with Squid Ink Pasta. It happened to be Oyster Monday when we came, so oysters were half off (score). Oysters were super fresh and come with all the proper fixin's - hot sauce, mignonette, and lemon slices. I also love their dedication to sustainability! All their seafood sources are listed on the menu. Service left a little bit to be desired as our server forgot about us a few times - forgot to rang in our entree, and left us hanging when requested napkins and extra lemons on separate occasions. They only opened a few months ago so I think they're estill figuring things out but I would love to return! read more

You can dress up and make it a nice date or celebration spot or dress a bit more casual for just a nice seafood craving fix. They've got great drinks and the staff was amazing. I recommend the crispy rice cake for an appetizer! I had the rock shrimp tagliatelle plate and it was to die for!!!! It was not too rich which I loved, there was a perfect amount of herb with citrus blend. I finished dinner off with a chocolate terrine and OH MY GOD it was mouth watering. The service is probably the worse I have ever had. Orders were put incorrectly, not once but twice and it wasn't too busy. We had to wait for water refills. I was about to get up myself and get the water pitcher. We got the Wood Grill Seafood Tower and it was bland and over cooked. The chowder was good but for $10 it should be more than just an 8 oz cup that wasn't even full. We also ordered two drinks and got charge for three. Hip and modern vibe. Great food. The soft crab sandwich is a must! So crunchy and tasty. Their side fries are seasoned well too. The oyster gratin was good but quite small in size. The calamari is very nicely done as well. It comes with salsa and mayo sauce and some onions and greens as toppings. It was very crispy and juicy. Generally speaking, their portions lean on the smaller side considering the usual portion in Texas, but the quality of the food is great! The patio where we set at was also nice. First time to Austin in 20 years. We were supposed to have dinner elsewhere but the staff accommodated our party of 6 in the private dining area, nice! The restaurant was cold on this rainy November evening... but worth it. I loved the salmon crudo... had to order a second even though our entrees were due out any moment. The Brussels were delish, tartare fantastic. I'm allergic to shrimp, apparently, so I steered clear of some seafood options but the curry basmati rice with crab, yum. Benadryl on hand, just in case! :) What can I say, I don't visit Austin often but the next time I do, I'll be back here! read more

Ok, so I will mention the good and bad. Good : service was very good. The mussels we ordered were excellent , plenty of bread to mop up the spectacular sauce. The grilled shishito peppers were on point as well. The Sommelier also came out and helped us pick a nice wine, and let us try a couple. The wine she picked went perfect with the mussels. The bad : softshell crab sandwich. Breading is not good, and has cheese on it - which is odd. I wish I would not have ordered it. The grilled cesear came out and did not have dressing which was also odd. We also sat outside and they misters, although nice, were blowing too much water on our table. They also had a major issue with flies. They were all over the place, and on food. Not an enjoybleewl by any means. I may go back, but will never sit outside here again. read more

Absolutely Amazing experience, food and service! I have severe (anaphylactic type) allergies and rarely get to eat out. I was told that Plank was a scratch kitchen and would gladly accommodate my limitations. Wow is that an understatement! Sara, my server, was understanding, kind and delightful. She really listened and listed my allergies and made sure that everything else about our time was great too. She was attentive without being overboard and super responsive. Sara was fantastic! Austin the GM, came out personally and clarified what I could and couldn't eat. He spoke to the chef and checked their homemade recipes. He then made recommendations. What was presented was absolutely phenomenal, great tasting and a culinary delight! It was probably the best meal I have had in years. By the second bite I was almost in tears! What an exceptional experience all around! Most places give those of us with allergies dry, bland food because that is what is "easy" to do to accommodate our limitations. Not Plank! They went above and beyond to make sure what I ate was superb! Austin, the GM shared that his desire is to help accommodate those us us with allergies so that we too can have an excellent meal and experience! What a refreshing attitude! Came to check out this new spot at the domain after watching a movie. Atmosphere is nice but that's about it. Me and my girlfriend both ordered the same food item which was the red snapper. Unfortunately we were unimpressed with the food. As soon as we got the dishes, both our plates were off. They were both inconsistent with the meal portion, and for $40 a plate you would think they would both show up as the same. For a chef not to notice this issue before sending out the dishes isn't professional. The snapper was also over cooked not flaky as it should be with white fish. But overall we won't be visiting this spot in the near future. read more

This place is overpriced. The portion size to the price is greatly gapped. The hamachi were thin and very few in pieces and it was $18! That's more expensive than a upscale Japanese restaurant. The softshell crab sandwich was underwhelming. It was not very flavorful, size was small, and they just used what looked like Kraft Single cheese. Overall, underwhelming, overpriced. I'm traveling so was shocked to hear you've only been open a few weeks. It was so good I came 2 days in a row. Day 1: speed boat cocktail is light, refreshing, not sweet and perfect. For lunch I ate the ahi tuna tartar. It was perfect with potato chips. Who knew! Totally worth getting. Day 2: got the speed boat again because why mess with a good thing? First visit for a couple of celebrations. Plank's food is good, but prices are higher than they appear once you factor in some small portions. (Example: $14 for a calimari appetizer that had barely a dozen *very* small pieces served on a small salad plate that also held two dipping sauce cups. Maybe they ran out, but we felt cheated. The Brussels sprouts were more generous, and really delicious.) The entrees were good (our party tried 4 different ones, and wanted the Redfish, but they were out), but neither the flavor nor prep was quite as good as our usual seafood celebration place, Fish City in Georgetown. Plank touts their seafood sourcing, but this just means means all their fish (except the tuna) is farmed rather than wild-caught. At these prices, I'd expect real wild Alaskan salmon rather than Plank's farmed Atlantic salmon. Service: Surprisingly poor, and really, unacceptable at this level. Very long waits through the whole meal with no explanation, and completely ignored water/tea glasses that not only got to empty but stayed there until we finally flagged down a waiter. We'd have ordered another bottle of wine if they'd bothered to show up and ask. Overall, we'd eat at Plank again, but we're not in a huge rush. Great atmosphere and ambiance, and good food, but the service needs help. read more

Very fresh seafood! I enjoyed the oyster variety - all of which were delicious. The mussels had a smoke flavor, very flavorful. You'll need to ask for dipping bread for the mussels as it doesn't automatically come with it. Yellowtail sashimi was light and delicate in flavor. Hostess and bar staff super friendly and attentive. We had the Crudo (excellent), Fish tacos (pretty good), Thai Clam Chowder (highly recommend), the shrimp appetizer (minuscule) , and the Blue salad (good but small). This was an amazing experience for seafood fanatics like me. Their seafood is sourced responsibly which I appreciate. Oysters couldn't be any fresher. So good!!! The Thai coconut clam chowder was such a hit with us. It literally had the flavors of Thai curry but it had the texture and everything you love of a clam chowder. The ceviche had a a perfect blend of citrus and spice. Our server was attentive and caught a dish before it served to us with our food restrictions. I love this place. This is a very nice upscale restaurant that serves fresh seafood. Our waiter, Frank, was welcoming and nice. The decor is attractive and the background music was pleasing. Our food was delicious: oysters on the half shell, soft boiled eggs with caviar, and a fish taco. We were there for Happy Hour (3-6). Good selection of wine and cocktails. The food was wonderful and came out fast. Service was a little slow but they were busy so that's to be expected.

Was believing this was going to be something great, however my lofty expectations were quickly diminished. We had a decent spread...from calamari and oysters to salmon and even a cheeseburger. The kids salmon was bigger, better, and much cheaper than the adults. The smoked fish dip was not memorable and after you get through a handful of crackers, you are charged for more if requested. The staff was the only positive. If you are looking for a mediocre experience in the domain, this is your spot. read more

Me and my wife went the Saturday before Mother's Day. Over all the experience was... alright. Credit where credit is due- Plank's has a good atmosphere, welcoming staff and great food. But frankly, it's just unnecessarily expensive. Spent around $240 on drinks, oysters and a few tapas. Now they were good- very good in fact but honestly comparable with so many other restaurants. That's where it just didn't make sense. Now the Oysters are from the North East coast so expect sweet to slightly salty flavors somewhere in the small l to medium sizes which is just right for me. Plank's had a creative cocktail cause delivery system which was super handy. Again, my main issues were with the price; $4 an oyster is a little steep. However our server was excellent and it was an overall good experience. The thing is I don't plan on going back as I can get good food and drinks elsewhere for probably $100 less and they have their own parking. I hope Plank's does well but it's just not the premium experience that you pay for. It's Trulucks prices $$$$ but the atmosphere and accommodations aren't worth it read more

This place is definitely not a sweat and workout clothes place however if you don't care than go for it. Not cheap or budget friendly but that's because the quality of the food is good and so is the menu in general. The flavors and plating is beautiful I really like the Asian style twist on the dishes. Our server was great and he recommended a local gelato place that was awesome. The dishes aren't filling so there was room for dessert. The drinks were small but taste refreshing.
