I got my helix pierced by Adrian about 6 months ago with a friend. We had to visit the store a couple times for a piercer to actually be in the store to help us so I would definitely recommend calling to see if anyone is available (despite the fact that they do allow walk-ins). I was pretty intimidated at first, the front was very empty and we had to wait several minutes for someone to come to the front to help us but the employees are all very friendly. Adrian (our piercer) is super thorough and very patiently explained the entire process to us. He made us feel very comfortable, asked us if we liked the placement and was speedy with the actual piercing. Everything was really clean, he changed gloves between actions, sanitized the tools and jewelry. Overall a very good experience. read more

Basic info- Came here in early August, 2011. This was my first tattoo and my artist was Skip. **** I had researched the place a little before I actually got to the place and my roommate's boyfriend had gotten a tattoo done here before. Seeing as I was a walk-in, I was very happy at how quickly and happily they accepted us, even after we had been running around most of San Jose/Saratoga, and it was an hour before closing time. Yelp had some pretty skewed reviews about this place, but its as expected. I had a complete design all ready, as my long-time friend had recently passed away and had drawn a zombie-bust for me in high school and was really detailed/intricate. When I came in with my roommate, the receptionist was rather friendly and greeted us both and asked what we wanted done: My roommate was looking for a quote on a tattoo on her side/rib-cage area and nothing more, I was wanting to get prices too, but was willing to get it done then and there if the price was right. Both receptionist/artist DID NOT pressure my roommate to getting anything done, and even suggested her looking around and finding something she was more comfortable with, which, in turn, made me feel more at ease. After having Skip look at my drawing, he asked if I wanted anything extra and went on to suggest shading and a little more color, to which I gladly agreed. He gave me a price which was SIGNIFICANTLY lower than other places around the area, so I decided to get it done then and there. The whole tattoo was complete in a little over 40 minutes, and Skip kept his cool and even carried on a very enthusiastic conversation. When finished, most of the staff looked and admired/complimented the design which I found really endearing and reassuring, as a tattoo is there for life (unless you zap it off). After listening to proper tattoo-care, I left a tip for the great experience, and left very satisfied at how the tattoo came out. Overall, the experience and validity of a place's reputation is all on one's attitude. As the almighty internet states: Haters Gonna Hate. If you actually read the reviews, like you're supposed to, on Yelp, MOST of the "bad" ones are from personal bias, or just random bitching. Take time to read the BAD before the good, and you can sum up your own personal judgement-call. read more

On May 30th 2024 at Players ink tattoo shop in San Jose. I had an appointment set up with the artist JT Stubblefield that I booked out weeks in advance in which I was very excited and looked forward to getting. When I presented my design initially he stated he can create the piece of art presented. Although the day of, he began stating he needed to go much bigger , and said he thought it was a half sleeve tattoo. So I asked if he can pivot and cut out some details. He then began cutting me off stating that he can create my idea but with the more traditional skull tattoos his way that he creates , rather then my sketch. I then told him even if we can't do this tattoo I have other pieces I want to get and we can do one of those. Yet It seems he wants to control the piece of art without attempting to make your vision happen regardless of how much I asked to change it. So I asked to see it sketched out the way he proposed, then he goes back as if he is going to sketch ,but walks right out and then states I'm going to have to decline doing my tattoo. He said you can have someone else in the shop do it. He is very rude and unprofessional and honestly I think he is bias of people of color. Within the 2 hours I waited for a simple sketch. I didn't see an African American come in this shop and or anyone that works there. It definitely seems they aren't used to all ethnicities coming in there place of business. After saying he wanted to decline. I then said decline ? I shared my feedback and let him know his customer service has already been very disrespectful and rude since I came in here,his demeanor is very sarcastic and blunt with unnecessary comments. Even when he was trying to explain my drawing, he accidentally swiped over on his iPad and it was an image of a naked woman.On top of that my wife and child was present. I wouldn't recommend anyone that is African American to get tattooed here, they should focus on being more inclusive and diverse and making every customer experience a welcoming one. read more

I came in here last weekend as part of my bachelorette party, I came in without an appointment and with several girls with me. I was helped right away. I told them that I wanted a tiny little "R" for my future husband. I initially wanted it to be on my wrist and I wanted the end of the R to come to a little heart. I had a specific idea in my mind, the artist drew something up and it wasnt exactly what I wanted. So he did it a few more times until it was good. He decided the heart looked stupid and I agreed that the heart he drew on the R did look stupid, but that wasn't what I had in mind. I could have drawn him what my idea was but there was alot going on so I just went with dropping the heart. I wanted it to be tiny, tiny...tiny. I didn't have any concern with the price I just wanted it tiny. He advised me that if it was too small it would bleed. But Im still on the fence about weather or not that is true...I agreed to his size but in the end I do wish it was smaller...like half as small. I also wanted it on my wrist at first. He transfered it on me and the placement was just terrible, we moved it several more times and all though he kept saying its ok...I felt like a pain in the ass but if it was going to be right there where I could see it all day everyday I wanted it perfect! After several tried I said lets see it on the foot, he put it on my foot and I said "Perfect!" So he did it, quick and painless. Looks great. Good steady hand. I love it, but I do wish that it either was smaller, or if its this big...I wish I could have also gotten a tiny heart...but I felt like because of the all the girls there and the fact that I made the artist redo this tiny tattoo over and over again that I was a little rushed. The artist was nice, it was a good experience. It just wasnt a 5 star experience. read more

Walked right in for a piercing. Travis was a cool guy. I've had many piercings previously, my nose had been pierced 2 previous times and I asked about doing a third time. Travis advised me while he would be able to do it, it would be more painful. Nope do the other side. K thanks. He took me back to the little room showed me the nose ring he would be using. Be warned tho if you're short the table is a bit high. Travis however gave me a chair to stand on so I could hop up onto the table. He picked a spot to pierce dotted it and had me lie down. He was quick and allowed my hubby to video the whole process. I had a coupon for 15 bucks off with a Yelp check-in. So yay! He explained the cleaning process and we were on our way within 15 minutes. read more

Came back here when I noticed a small keloid forming at my cartilage piercing. Adrian was super helpful, cleaned out the piercing and gave me advice to take care of it. I've followed his advice and ever since, have never had another keloid again. read more

adrian pierced me and he's such a chill, sweet guy! i originally just planned to get seconds on my earlobes since my cartilage got infected so i thought i wouldn't be able to get another one underneath it. not only did he do an amazing job on the piercings, he inspected my cartilage piercing and told me that it was way too slanted as a piercing and pinched my skin and messed with my healing process. i thought it was really sweet of him to help me understand what went wrong with my piercing. in the end, he helped me take the stud out so it could heal and he told me i could come back in a month or so if i want it repierced. i still really wanted another piercing underneath it, so i asked him about it and he told me it would be fine, so i got it! calling me a satisfied customer would be an understatement. i'll definitely be back for more piercings! read more

Got there around 6:35pm determined to get an anti eyebrow piercing...didnt do my research...major shout out to piercer for telling me that this piercing is unlike others.there is a expiration date on it. Ended up getting my nose pierce.whole experience was effecient and amazing. I got my tongue pierced with Adrien. He's super nice and patient. Explained everything I needed to know so it would heal faster. My tongue healed super fast and it hardly got swollen. JT was super patient since I wanted a scripture that was kinda big to fit in a cross but he was fantastic. He is super nice and I absolutely love my tattoos. Love the detail in it! I've really been debating about writing this review. I don't want to be "that customer" but every time I look down at my wrist tattoo I'm really really disappointed. First I would like to start off with that everyone at this shop I have personally interacted with has been super super friendly and welcoming. The shop is clean and for a walk-in appointment they were very attentive and you could tell that they actually cared about you. This was the first time I had gotten a tattoo from this shop, but I had been before with other friends while they got work done and their skills and knowledge were great. So I wasn't hesitant to get a small piece done since my typical artist (who doesn't work at this shop) was on vacation. To be honest this was a total on a whim tattoo that my bestie and we're getting togeher. The actual process of getting the piece was cake. Travis worked on both my bestie and I and he was very nice and totally listened to what we wanted (a smicolon with a heart) and drew something up quickly. Mine was black and my bestie wanted red. Next thing we knew were in the chair and then out. Super quick and clean. Both of us were charged $50 and we were on our way. It wasn't until 3 days after getting tattooed that I was getting worried about how my tattoo was healing. I've gotten tattooed several other times and this one just didn't look right. It was scabing and bubbling more than usual and iched like no other. I was cleaning it 3 times daily with the reccomended soap and keeping a thin layer of aquaphor on it just as reccomended. But still my gut told me something is up. I sent a photo to my normal artist (not Travis) and he told me that it looked super irritated and to stop applying aquaphor and to still wash it. I did just that and the irrational went down but it took about another week and a half for it to totally heal. After it was done healing I couldn't believe what had happened. Practically ALL the color had fallen out and the outline is a little bit blown out. It looks like I have had it for 10+ years. I'm super disappointed with it. My bestie had the SAME issue. Obviously this was an issue with the skill of the artist and nothing else. I've made an appointment with my usual artist to either get it touched up or totally covered up. read more

This review has been a long time coming! I originally went to PI ten years ago to get my belly button pierced. It was was Adrian who did it and at the time I remember feeling so comfortable. Two years later I got my tragus peirced by him as well. My bb piercing didn't last because of life and having babies and I eventually went away with my tragus peircing but recently decided I'd like to get it re pierced. Keeping in mind walk-ins are 1st come, 1st served basis I allotted about an hour and a half just in case. When I walked in there were 2 others in front of me but I was greeted shortly after with a "be with you in a few minutes." Sure enough about 10 minutes had passed and a second piercer, who happened to be Adrian (again! Yay!) had walked in and also greeted me. He quickly helped me pick jewelry, eased me with some small talk and got to piercing. The piercing took only 2-5 minutes and by the time I had paid I had only spent about 30 minutes total in the shop. Adrian gave me quick aftercare instructions and his card in case I had questions or concerns about the healing. Thanks for another great experience, will recommend. read more
