Called ahead about COVID precautions, they said masks were mandatory. When we arrived half the people didn't have masks on including one guy claiming to be staff. I asked another staff member and he said he couldn't enforce the mask requirement. Other business are able to enforce. No mask no service. And there was one guy vaping in the prep hall, the staff all seemed to know him, and had no problem with his vaping. The actual playing field is less of a concern as it is in open air, but as the kids got their gear on, it was very uncomfortable with all of the people near by with no masks. The staff was friendly enough and the kids had fun, but it is not safe in the prep area for unvaccinated people (younger than 12 who cannot get vaccinated) It's not family friendly, not COVID safe. read more

Fun place to pew pew some fools with other fools. You pew pew as a team against another team that goes pew pew as everyone hides behind giant air filled bouncy cover. The pew pew isn't some weak pew pew so expect some pain and bruising if you get hit by the incoming pew pew or freak out like me when the pew pew hits you right in the goggles. We had difficulty finding the play since they use a different entrance when it's wet or raining (Gate 4 on Payran road - backside of posted address). I would recommend that they post the alternate directions on their website. We drove in at Gate 4 and still weren't sure we were in the right place. I only saw signs for Paintball. The location appears to be an old facility for horses which really hasn't been upgraded all that much for Laser Tag. We eventually found someone to help us and got set up at our party table. We had arranged for a Laser Tag party which includes a table. You can bring in your own food, etc. There doesn't appear to be any place to get food onsite. There is a Lucky store just down the street. If you are going in the winter, dress warmly. The area for the Laser Tag is covered by a roof, but is not an indoor space. It was cold yesterday. The kids had fun, which is the most important thing. When I asked my daughter if she would go back, she said "no". As I mentioned before, I had a Laser Tag party which gives you a 2 hour period of time to play games. If there are fewer parties going on, then you will have more games for your group. We ended up having 4 games for our group which was more than we expected. I would say that each game is about 15 or 20 minutes. Each group has the entire space for their game. I went to Playland for my daughter's 13th birthday. We had a group of 9 boys and girls of a similar age. There was only one other group waiting to play Laser Tag so we alternated between that group and ours for the two hour period between noon and 2 pm. The staff running the place are nice, young people who were really trying to be helpful. read more

Didn't know what to expect (other than pain from the paintballs) but it turned out to be an awesome experience. Came here with co-workers for a team building activity. Although we're in law enforcement, shooting paintball guns was completely different than shooting a real gun. Everyone was super competitive and we all got super muddy since we went a couple days after rainfall. Forgot the two guys' names who helped us, but they were really nice and professional. The masks suck because it's so constricting and you can't take it off at all in the field so you're essentially breaking in what you breath out...gross. Would totally come here again! read more

One of the employees that works here is a asshole and doesn't understand that when it's a kids first time at an airsoft felid that they will make mistakes. He started yelling at these few kids in my group. We made a few little mistakes and he yelled at us for 5 mins. He also cut our time by 40 mins even tho we paid for 2 hours and cut a few other kids time even tho they paid for a half public game. They only got to play 1 game even tho they paid for 1. I believe that play is very over priced and they think to highly of themselves. They are very disrespectful and do not respect their costumers. We paid for a private party and the games were very short. They gave the public people longer games by at least 10 minutes. read more

I have done two group parties there. Easy to make reservations. Reasonable cost and you don't need to buy all the upgrades (they don't pressure you either). Things are well organized by the staff. The facility makes for fun games and you switch fields and games to keep things interesting. Great experience overall. read more

Place has lots of potential but experiencing some growing pains. Celebrated my son's 14th birthday there with a group of friends. They had a marathon day of laser tag and Airsoft and after five hours were still wanting to stay. The second time was a big disappointment. Lots of little kid birthday parties and we only participated in three 10-minute sessions in 3+ hours. That can be a drag as the place is located in the middle of nowhere and there is nothing to do in between sessions. That said, the staff is nice and if the kids' screams are any indication, it's a lot of fun. I recommend calling ahead to see what the birthday party schedule is if you're going to come on a weekend. read more

Once your kids hit their teens, it gets harder to plan birthday parties with their friends. Playland was the perfect venue for our son's 15th "airsoft" party. You can make reservations online and once you get to the venue, the staff get right down to business, explaining the rules and safety information. During our time there, the staff were accommodating, friendly and were even able to squeeze in one final game before our time was up. Our kids and a couple of parents had a blast! You can get hurt (mostly little welts) so paying attention to instructions is important. If you want to pick up snacks or sandwiches, Whole Foods and Petaluma Market are just a few minutes away. I believe there's a snack bar there as well. Overall, it was a great time for everyone. The boys are already talking about organizing their next visit. Planned a trip here for a group of friends to celebrate a birthday. They were great on the phone, and easy to talk to and plan with. We had to put down a $50 deposit- which he did via square over the phone. You get an email, so you know they aren't being sketch. The day of, it was actually raining pretty hard, so naturally, some people just didn't show. We ended up only having 11 people play. My boyfriend's assessment of the equipment: it's kinda old, not really well maintained/can jam at times. The fields are also in a state of decomposition (it could also be due to the rain- though they could have scattered some sand/straw to help reduce the muddiness). They only had two fields open. We forgot to remind them that we already paid a deposit, so they didn't return it to us that day. I had to call a few days later, and they returned my deposit to me. Pros: Really nice, great customer service, acceptance of groupons. etc... Cons: The equipment isn't that great, sometimes not many fields are open, fields aren't well kept. read more

I think playland is fun because it's like real war for instance if someone was shooting at you and you were behind a wall, and moved to another wall but were hit, it would hurt. But don't worry. We had a blast for my stepson's 11th birthday! I never realized how truly long 2 hours can really be until I played an intensified, adrenaline-pumping version of hide-and-go-seek (aka laser tag)! At one point, it got so competitive that I started woo-ing like Ric Flair after a headshot..and then I realized I just took down a 6 year old boy. Smh/lol. My husband had so much fun that he wants to do it for his next birthday! One thing I wish I would've known prior to going is that they have a couple of picnic tables right outside of the laser tag area entrance. It's semi-walled off and private enough. I would've brought a cake and pizzas, had I known. Or maybe just some snacks and beverages because the manure stench from the paintball field was something fierce. The experience was great, but the rental paintball guns are defective. They stop working in the middle of a game and the workers do not like to help you to get it fixed. I was shot in the neck and got a concussion, so I crashed into a wall as I was running and the worker there told me to be careful with the gun as it was expensive. He did not even stop to ask if I was okay as my neck was swollen and bleeding. Terrible customer service, but the game was fun. read more

I haven't been out to play paintball in a little over 5 years and going out to Playland in Petaluma was the perfect experience for me to get back into the sport/hobby. I've been to many many paintball fields in central and Northern California and Playland is definitely in my favorites! The environment there is very welcoming and the staff do not carry an intimidating attitude towards recreation or rental players that you might find at other fields. We had the pleasure of talking with the owner, Ryan, who was very helpful and friendly always willing to go the extra step for everyone. The refs were also doing a great job of being aware of everyone's skill level making the rec and rental players have fun and the experienced players challenge their skills. We had our twins 10th birthday party here with 12 kids total playing laser tag. Half boys and half girls and all the kids had a BLAST. The employees were awesome and super helpful and organized. The laser tag equipment was state of the art and flawless and the course was huge and super fun. I anticipate we will be having birthday parties here for years to come. This place is garbage had a terrible experience with overpriced balls and terrible employees,.. the paintball maps were literally covered in cow shit and ankle deep in mud. I dont mind getting dirty except for the fact that I found multiple rusty nails concealed by mud and puddles. My son has now spent two birthdays here, only because it's the only location near to us. -first visit was for paintball, we were told that since our son and his friends were beginners they would be involved in combat with those of the same rank. Instead we paid for them to be targets for the advanced division. When inquiries were made, the staff was extremely rude and suggested we should know better. There were no amenities that were detailed on the website. All safety classes never took place. -our recent visit was for air soft combat. We paid for 4 children to play for 1 hour. The first round was 10min, followed by a 20min break. Then a second 10min round, followed again by a 20min break. That was our 1 hour of play!!! We were ripped off. read more

By far the best birthday I've been able to give to my youngest son who recently turned 12. The excitment, smiles and the energy of 15 pre-teen boys when we showed up to do laser tag was so awesome. Writing this as a parent and spectator--awesome experience. Ryan and the staff were very friendly and patient with my noob kids, but once they were on the field the refs were no-nonsense as they needed to be to keep everyone safe. Bleachers for us watching the fun, picnic tables to gather the crew, and clean restrooms (a big perk since I was expecting port-a-potties.) We got here pretty much at opening to ensure less crowds which was perfect for us, but they were expecting parties later which I'm sure is more fun for the experienced. I went here as part of a bachelor party weekend. Prices were fair and the two fields were fun to play on. Referees were friendly and kept the game safe with clear instructions. Sales person was friendly and did not try to upsell us and gave good recommendations regarding how much paintballls to purchase. Fun times. read more

Employee at the front desk denied our balls that were water based and 100% okay to use according to a phone call the day before. All the staff were great and very helpful. We came after a day of raining, so definitely needed tall rain boots. It doesn't just get muddy, there are huge puddles that you stand in if you want to have cover. Our group was 3 ten year olds, 4 12 year olds and 3 adults. Definitely best to come in large groups. We were paired with another group of 2, but would also like more people. From far away it feels like getting snapped with a rubber band, from close it hurts more. Recommend layers, sweatshirt and maybe coat. I just wore a sweatshirt and was fine. read more

They made sure I had everything I needed with regards to paperwork and equipment all with a great attitude.
