Yes, the rooms are $40/night. If you're looking for a fun family getaway, this is not it. If you're looking for a place to shower and sleep, or a place to crash for a day or two after a long drive, or somewhere to just call home for a few days, this will do the trick. I was looking to stay in the Berkshires as cheaply as possible and this did the trick. Pleasant Valley Motel is conveniently located right off of I-90 and close to lots of the local attractions. At this price point my main concern was security, and the rooms feel quite safe with a deadbolt, doorknob lock, and chain lock. You can control the thermostat and my room was nice and warm. The furniture is dated but the comfort is appropriate for the price point. Check in and check out were simple and easy. Would definitely stay here again! read more

If I can give it zero I would, stayed here for work cause it's probably the cheapest and I encounter bed bugs, if anyone thinks that this should be "expected" well I guess you don't understand business of hospitality well.. owner tried to offer me a new room and I asked him politely for my money back he kept insisting and I just handed him the keys and told him I need my money back and he eventually gave in.. if you're in the hospitality business what does it cost to get an exterminator and clean the place up what does it cost to get new beds sheets etc to get rid of a long term problem. Last night while driving home from Albany after visiting my dying brother in law we drive directly into a snow storm in Massachusetts. It was almost white out conditions. We were very anxious about continuing out ride home in these conditions. We decide that we would try and get a room and then finish our ride home in the morning. We first tried to stay at the Berskshire Travel Lodge. They had on their no vacancy sign but we pulled in and called anyway just incase maybe there was a room available. We were connected to a booking agent, unfortunately he was no able to get us a room at the Berkshire Travel Lodge but 10 minutes away their were rooms available at this dump. We were hesitant because this place is pretty bad with awful reviews, but we decided that our safety was more important and we could slum it for the night. We arrived at 10:50pm, the sign says lobby is open until 11pm. I ring the door bell for service and a man comes to the window. He's a huge dick from the start. He asked me what I want and I said we'd like a room please. Now mind you it snowing out like crazy, he looks at my Hispanic husband and then says we're closed. I said "Oh but your sign says the lobby is open for another 10 minutes" He again says " we are closed" At this point I'm super annoyed and just said "Are you serious?" and start to walk away. He then yells to me " How many nights?" At this poiny my husband yells from the car "Thought you were closed" At this point I wouldn't have stayed here if you paid me too. We pulled in out of desperation but thank God as soon as we got into Great Barrington it was barely snowing and we were able to make it home. I will make it my mission to let as many people as possible know about how we were treated while trying to get out of this storm by this asshole. Stay away from this grimey ass dump!! read more

This motel is the ultimate dive, hole in the ground that the Board of Health and the town of Stockbridge needs to take a look at! The dated, frumpy, dark room appearance is the least of concerns - carpets are grimy, windows are grimy, air condition unit is broken, door is broken and grimy - none of the locks worked (dead bolt or regular doorknob did not lock), so we relied on the "safety" provided by the flimsy door chain - we got back late at night, and no one was available to address this; smell in room is putrid (from the carpet? the curtains?) Th so called "included" breakfast does not exist - it is presented outside the front door (which is always locked having a small opening for check in) and consisted of one banana, an empty orange juice jug, and a Walmart box of the small muffins, only two left - this was at 8:00AM - no one around - we left - needless to say, never, ever we will return - read more

Let me preface this by saying we paid $40 for the room... I will say I was quite impressed! The location is great, right next to the freeway and the room was surprisingly clean. We checked in and about 5 minutes later the owner called our room to see if it looked good. You don't get that at any hotel let alone a $40 one. The room was clean and not super aged looking. The bathroom looked like something you would have at your house. The bed was two full box springs pushed together and a mattress to make a king. The mattress was comfortable. Room had a flat screen TV, fridge and microwave. The breakfast was bad. It was nothing more than cereal, milk and orange juice sitting in the sun.... So stayed her the week before labor day, definitely offseason, and the price reflected that. $40 dollars a night on hotels.com which was $5 dollars cheaper than the price the motel gave me directly. Expectations were low, as the price seemed shady, but we lucked out!! Free wi-fi through out, Room was clean, and had a fridge with a flat screen hd set, which was nice because i just purchased a blue ray player on the ride up so I couldn't be happier that they had an hd set for me to play with my new toy. Get this, i didn't have batteries for the remote and the manager Nick Patel was nice enough to give me some batteries free of charge. We spent the majority of time site seeing, the location right off the highway is perfect, you don't even know it is there. Not much to do or see in West Stockbridge, but for $40 bucks a night, your lose enough to all the attractions in the Berkshires. Only flaw is their breakfast, it is free but lacks some pastries. They were non existent. Other than that i recommend this place to anyone looking to get away to the mountains during the summer months, while we stayed we hiked up Monument Mountain, which was really nice. I will stay again with out worry. During the in-season(winter months) their rooms go for over $100 a night, so once again for $40 bucks a night, this place is PERFECT!!! read more

Let me preface my review with the fact that the room was $43/night. You aren't going to find prices like that and NOT have some issues. It's just the nature of the beast. That being said, I believe in full disclosure. If you're renting a room, you should know what you're getting--regardless of whether or not it's a good deal. The staff are friendly. They want you to feel welcome, which I do appreciate. So often the attitude from staff members is enough to ruin the entire experience. The room itself was as clean as it could be, given that it was quite dated and you can only launder a comforter and curtains so many times over the decades before they just look shabby. The rugs are dark but you can tell there were some stains from years of use. The fridge and microwave were not plugged in and in the 18 hours we were there, the fridge never did get all that cold. The bathroom was...a challenge. The sink is almost on top of the toilet and even my husband, who is a tall, narrow guy, had trouble squeezing into the tiny space to use the toilet. It was awkward to say the least. When you check in, you'll be asked if you want heat. Don't disregard this question, they mean it quite literally. The heat to each room is controlled at the front desk and is always turned off unless requested on. Once they flip the switch you are then able to control the temperature through the thermostat in the room. They'll ask you what time you want the heat turned on and you will not be able to use it until then so choose wisely my friends. If you're going to be in the area for a night and need a place to crash, it will suffice. I wouldn't recommend a long term stay unless you plan to be out of the room the majority of the time and aren't very picky about your surroundings. read more

I stayed here for one night while on vacation this past week. It's very quiet, no frills and off the beaten track. The owners were very friendly, and gave us recommendations for places to eat in the area. They also serve coffee in the office in the mornings. The room itself wasn't exactly filthy, but I did go straight to the mattress to check for bed bugs (thankfully none there). The family who operates it tries hard to make you happy, but the room itself is not maintained well and it is lacking in a few other areas. First, there was a microwave and a fridge that was unplugged when we arrived. Once it was plugged in, the temperature never reached below a level of 60 degrees (I suspect). The shower made it impossible to regulate the temperature so you were stuck with a scalding hot shower or an ice cold one. The carpets looked ratty and the comforters were stained. There is no ice machine, so to get ice you need to go to the office and the family goes into their house and gets you some ice out of the ice trays in their freezer. It is very awkward and leaves you with a feeling that you disturbed their family dinner. After the first night, our room was not cleaned at all. The bed were not made. The motel itself is in the middle of nowhere, but I expected that when I booked because I wanted to hike Mt. Washington (I recommend it). Lastly, upon checkin they told us that on Friday morning there would be a light breakfast available, but during the weekends there is a larger breakfast out on the porch. I didn't end up going to breakfast Friday morning, but Saturday's was disappointing. Pretty much there was a choice between bagels and cereal, and orange juice and coffee. Stay here if you are on a strict budget, but otherwise you should skip it. read more

Going to see James Taylor this motel was less than 15 minutes from tanglewood. The decor is very old and the room could use some upgrades. The bathroom was old and mattress was firm. There was a fridge and microwave but you had to plug them in. Tv did get a good amount of cable channels. Window air conditioner worked well. For a cheap motel it was good for one night. read more

Our rooms were clean and fairly quiet. (Except for the AC which worked well but whose fan was pretty loud.) We had two rooms, and one mattress was very soft and the other was kinda firm, so if you are unhappy with your mattress I would ask if you could switch rooms. (I was on the soft mattress and while it was fine for one night, I wouldn't want to spend more on it!) Our room had a microwave and fridge. Oh yeah it wasn't a big deal to us, but the wifi was slow. June 2013 - For a motel priced at $45/night in an area where every other lodging is $150 and up, we were pleasantly surprised at how gracious the owner was and the room, though modest in decor, was very clean and more than enough, mattress was good. The room had a small kitchenette type of area. The only complaint was the water pressure was poor in the shower. In July and August for Fridays and Saturdays only, the price goes up to $125/night. Still great for the area where $300/night is the norm in the high season. Excellent location to all sites. read more

Working with this establishment and Expedia to cancel the reservation under the Hotel Booking Protection process has been a nightmare. Made the initial call last week. There had been a death in the family and we had to adjust arrangements. Both Expedia and Pleasant Valley have rubbed salt into the wounds of the family loss making it a nightmare to cancel the reservation through the Hotel Booking Protection. Stay far away they only want to make a quick buck and could care less. read more

This was not a pleasant stay. We booked 2 rooms for a weekend in juky. We paid $137 per nite. One room hadwater buhs inthe shower. And the cleaner urinated in the toilet and did not flush. The other room had a clogged sink which he claimed to fix by pulling out the drain cap which of course fell back and the water rose to the rim. The bedspread had old stains and the sheets were paper thin. My husband had to work Saturday morning as it turned out and got grief from the woman at the front desk for not leaving the room at 10 am. My guy is the mellow type, ignores peoples issues, and he said she was rude. He wanted to leave the key at the desk for me since we went different ways that day and she said no!. That night when i got back there was another admonishment to me from the man for my husband not leaving the room early. Seriously with this focus on the cleaning whats up with the bugs, pee, linen quality and needed repairs? The only good thing about this overpriced, anything but tranquil place is the location. Try to avoid this place if you can.....within 200 yds of the MA Pike so you hear trucks all night long....the room was pretty bad..though the sheets and bedding appeared clean the rug looks like it never saw a shampooing. The bathroom was small and some of the tiles were ready to fall off the shower.....the shower temp went from ice cold to scalding hot depending on if the room next door was using water so be ready to adjust the knob.. The "Continental breakfast" consisted of cheerios, milk, juice, and donuts put out on a table outside......this place would be ok for a guy with little money passing thru but dont bring your wife here...... read more

This review is mixed, because to begin with, we were delighted to find a price like this (through Priceline) for the 4th of July when James Taylor was at Tanglewood. We arrived and wanted to weep with joy over how vastly different this place was from the hellhole we stayed in for twice as much money last year (Berkshire Motel in Canaan, NY - NEVER GO THERE). The room was clean; the A/C worked beautifully when we turned it on; there were both a refrigerator and a microwave; and the owner at the desk was very friendly. We were not happy, however, to learn that the 11 AM checkout that had been in effect when we booked had been changed to 10, and he was unwilling to bend on that. Also, the only ice machine is in the office and one is expected to take the bucket there to be filled by the owner, until 10 PM. Not convenient for those attending a concert and needing to fill coolers with ice...not to mention wanting ice upon returning from the show. Oh, and they advertise free wifi, but to access it from our room three doors down from the office, we had to take our laptop to the porch in front of the office, where we got only a "poor" signal. After the concert, we couldn't get any signal at all, presumably because the manager had shut it down for the night. Also, the bathtub was equipped with a showerhead that only someone under 5 feet tall wouldn't have to contort himself to get under. The real reason for the two stars here, however, is the bed situation. We had a queen (although it looked more like a full), and the mattress was ancient, horribly soft, and provided the worst night's sleep we have ever had. To add insult to injury (very real injuries, actually - we are both having back problems 13 hours after waking up), the bed did not have a fitted sheet on it, but a too-small flat sheet that didn't even cover the top of the mattress or tuck in on the sides. I spent the night in fear that I was going to come into contact with whatever disgusting microbes have been fermenting in the mattress cover. My first job was as a chambermaid in the early '80s, and our motel used flat sheets instead of fitted to save money. I always hated that practice, but at least we used queen sheets on full beds, king on queen, to make sure that each sheet was well tucked (and hospital-cornered). In 2012, there is no reason to skimp on bedding. Nor is there a reason to not replace mattresses on a regular basis. As pretty as the place is, and as convenient and inexpensive as it is, don't waste your time or money. We saw this morning that the Red Lion Inn had vacancies. If only we'd known.... read more
