YUCK. Since Susie China is no longer with us, my finance and I decided to try a new Chinese place in the hood. We were hoping to find the same, fresh and delicious quality of food that Susie China used to have. IT'S NOT AT THIS PLACE! We ordered and had our food delivered. Crab Rangoon: overcooked and totally bland. It was seriously the WORST rangoon I have ever had. Sesame Beef (supposedly the Chef's Specialty): The portion looks generous, but after closer examination, they completely skimp on the meat!!! The whole dish was full of nothing but fried batter with an occasional mini piece of beef hidden inside. There was no sauce and everything was dry. WHAT A RIP OFF! The RICE: Next to the beef, the absolutely WORST part of the meal! Both the white and fried rice were very undercooked, dry, hard and tasteless (how can FRIED rice be tasteless? - It WAS!). I'm all for discounts, coupons and freebies. Thanks to Yelp I got 2 free egg rolls since I spent $15+ on my carry out tonight. While the lady on the phone wasn't the friendliest person, she wasn't unpleasant so I can deal with that. Since Plenty doesn't have a website, I had no choice but to visit MenuPages (especially since none of those Yelp business images of the menu are legible). When I entered the restaurant for pick-up, I was glad to see that Plenty's interior was not too unclean looking. To begin, that's a good sign! As for the name Plenty...It makes a bit of sense, doesn't sound all too naughty in English, and is truthful when it comes to your money's worth. By just ripping open the brown bag, I could see that I liked Plenty already: -A box of extra sweet & sour sauce (wrapped in a plastic baggie to prevent it from leaking) -A baggie of those flavorless "styrofoam" crunchies that go well with anything -A fair amount of S&S sauce, hot mustard and soy sauce packets -All the food items overflowing = Plenty. The rice was absolutely bountiful (I got a tiny and large box of white rice, plus the chicken brown rice I had ordered). The egg rolls and S&S Chicken were super crispy, just like I like it--sinful. Lastly, our Mongolian beef was tasty with thick strips of beef and a oniony gravy sauce of veggies. I'm updating my review because after avoiding them for 6 months, I ran out of options one day when all other Chinese restaurants that deliver were closed. I think it was a Monday. I've had 2 meals delivered recently and both have been very good. The delivery was good - no attitude, the food was very good and I'm overall happy to give them another shot. My delivery took nearly THREE HOURS to arrive. I had called them twice while waiting and both times the guy ensured me that my order was on the way. When the delivery finally showed up, the delivery driver told me he just received my order 5 minutes prior. Nobody at the store was even apologetic. I will not order from here again. read more

My favorite beef fried rice in the city! Dark and flavorful but not greasy/oily like some other Chinese food places make their fried rice.

Egg rolls are "peanutty', crab racoon excellent. Fried rice is average. My primary issue with Plenty is that they go cheap on their inclusion of various vegetable assortments in their main entrees (such as the Hunan Beef). I always get a a ton of carrots... always. I don't think they even buy or slice red peppers. For the price they charge, they need to stop the carrot stuffing to fill the dish routine. Delivery is the way to go. You will wait FOREVER otherwise. read more

Gives good portion sizes for the price you pay, however the wait and taste are not worth it. Called my order in an hour before i arrived and it still wasn't ready. The taste of the food was very bland. I ordered with a group of friends. We all compared dishes to if it was just a case of one bad dish, however all dishes were bland and unseasoned. A bit below average. I mean, if I can prepare my own Chinese food that tastes as good as takeout why would I get the takeout. Unfortunately, that's the debate that I have when I consider ordering from Plenty. While I do like the convenience of getting takeout, I just can't justify paying money for this. I feel like their favorite spice is pepper. Seriously, I had two dishes that tasted like they were doused in white or black pepper. The first dish, I didn't like so much because of that. It was chicken with black bean sauce. A fairly basic dish that I don't think contains lots of pepper but this one did. First time going to Plenty wasn't a good experience. While they did have quick delivery, the food that arrived was not so awesome. The orange chicken was not orange tasting whatsoever and the crab Rangoon were terrible. The Rangoon were large, but when I bit into them they had a tiny ball of cream cheese filling at the bottom and it had zero flavor when I finally ate through the rest of the empty shell. I'll probably try them again - maybe I just got one of their not-so-good menu items. Price and portion size was decent as well, which is why I'll be willing to give them another shot as well. We ordered on-line delivery through grubhub.com and it must have been the fastest delivery I've see in my life. The food arrived nice and hot and the portions were pretty big. This was the only "above average" part of the experience. The food LOOKED really appetizing but when we dug in it was immediately obvious that we could have found better Chinese food. We started with the egg rolls (free with the entrees) that might have been the worst I've ever had. I don't throw food out ever. I eat until the food is gone even if I'm full. I took two bites of this culinary disaster and threw it in the trash. It was just a big, greasy mess. We also orders Pot stickers. They were not made with gyoza which I prefer. No, they were made with some kind of doughy, starchy muck that made them really gross. OK, that was the worst of it. We ordered General Tso's Chicken and Spicy Garlic chicken. Let me just say they were both beautiful! I've never seen delivery look so fine! I wish they had tasted as good. Both dishes were ok, just not great. My thought is that they would have been much better if we had eaten them at the restaurant. Gen. Tso's doesn't get any better by sitting around in some guy's car, waiting to get to my house. the dine in situation is that of a tiny little place. however, the staff and food are awesome I think that the food portions are amazing for the price. The egg rolls dominate. I have no idea what standards everyone else has for Chinese, and I am by no means a Chinese food snob, but this was just disgusting. The egg rolls had a mushy inside filling that had the consistency of peanut butter. The General Tao chicken had a funky smell to it and wasn't really cooked to well. I felt sick to my stomach after eating it and had to throw it out and then run outside to take the garbage out because it was smelling up my whole place. Just not good.
