I walked in by myself at 7:30am on a Friday. There were three tables seated and one person at the counter, so the place was more than half empty. I walked up to the counter and asked if I could sit there, and got a snippy response "you were supposed to check in first." I've been trying to go to Plow for weeks. Finally woke up at 7:30am and made it inside with a 30 minute wait Saturday morning. The food was absolutely amazing. We got the biscuit, strawberry lemonade, the plow and the open face egg, ham and gyuere sandwich. The biscuit was super good and a substantial size. Crispy outside with a soft pillowy inside. The honey butter was perfect. The plow is really what you should get. It has a bit of everything especially those potatoes. Honestly I came expecting the lemon ricotta pancakes to be my favorite, but the star was the potatoes with the house hot sauce. Definitely ask for the hot sauce. Place was super packed and busy. Interior was clean. I can see what the hype is for. I do love the food but it's not worth a 2 hour wait if you came too late on the weekend. It was worth the 30 min wait tho. read more

Wow plow is so delicious the 1 hour wait was worth it. My friend got there an hour before we met so I personally did not wait an hour. Pays to have friends who live close by. There is a seated waiting area outside so that helps. I recommend the plow which has a variety of breakfast foods: lemon ricotta pancake, sausage, potatoes, and eggs. I got the pumpkin pancakes also, which were yummy with the Apple compote on top. Out of the ricotta and pumpkin, I would choose the lemon ricotta. Wanted to have one last outdoor dining experience before Bay Area COVID Lockdown Part 2. Had to make it a good one and Plow did not disappoint. Wait was 45 mins for party of 2 at on Sunday 11am. Outdoor dining tables are spread out and diners are supposed to keep masks on whenever not eating. Overall felt like a safe dining environment. The prosciutto & gruyère toast was amazing. The toast was thick and buttery, and you can really taste the quality of the prosciutto and gruyère. The potatoes were perfectly crispy and seasoned-- not your usual side of bland potatoes that you don't even want to finish. Service was great. Our server was attentive and checked on us regularly. This was my second time here, and our food at Plow was just as amazing as we remembered! Keep in mind that brunch places in SF will always have a wait, especially if the restaurant doesn't take reservations. It's also pretty small inside. We arrived at 1:35pm and there were still 4-5 parties waiting outside before us. Seated at the bar at about 2:15pm and they served the buttermilk biscuit and drinks shortly after. Our order of the custard french toast, a side of scrambled eggs, and "the plow" with chicken apple sausage arrived 30 mins after seating. "The plow" is the best bang for your buck if you like a bit of everything! Plow potatoes are crispy and flavorful. Chicken apple sausages were great -- not dry, not too sweet or salty. This dish is THE perfect mix of sweet and savory and the right amount of food for two (super hungry) people! Can't wait to come here again, but definitely wish there was an automated waitlist or reservation system (which is why I have to dock off a star.) The current system is someone taking names down on paper, so you have to be standing nearby (usually at least 30 mins) to hear your name being called. read more

They provided blankets for outdoor seating which I ended up using since the table was in the shade. My favorite and go-to brunch place in SF, and that's coming from someone who easily finds brunch places overrated. This is probably like a 4.5 star place for me, the main cons being the wait and the price (it is not the cheapest, but it's still quite reasonable for the quality). I'll start by saying I've been fortunate enough to never have had to wait 2 hours for a table, which is pretty common. I'm lucky enough to live not too far away, so it's pretty easy for me to stop by during more off hours like weekday mornings, or to just go home if the wait is too long. Because of this I can't really comment on what the wait is like for an average weekend, but I know it can get pretty crazy. Food wise, I think the things that really stand out about this place are the biscuit and the potatoes (and maybe the pancakes as well). I generally go with the plow for my entree because you get to try a little bit of everything, both sweet and savory. The biscuit is one of my favorites in the city because it somehow defies logic by being crispy, flaky, and moist all at once. And just when you think it can't get any better, you get a bite slathered with honey butter. Trust me, you have to try it. The potatoes are also solidly my favorite out of any brunch place I've been to in SF. No one else seems to get them as perfectly crispy, salty, and fluffy, but they seriously nail it here. They're also well known for their pancakes. I can't say much about them since I have only tried the lemon ricotta ones, but I do think those are excellent. I've also never tried their french toast, but they always look very tempting. All the other brunch food (eggs, sausage, etc.) is pretty standard but you can tell they use really high quality ingredients. The sausage tastes really fresh and they use really seasonal ingredients in their drinks, salads, and sandwiches. Even their house made lemonade was really impressive. If you're looking for the best brunch in SF and are willing to wait (or come on a weekday), this cute spot is the place to go! read more

We thought the french toast was good, but usually we don't have huge sweet tooths for breakfast so we had to ditch the custard at the end. It tasted like a thicker vanilla whipped cream though, so it was nice to spread on the lemon ricotta pancakes. Fair warning that the place is packed and there's not much room inside, so I was a little annoyed that the waitress kept bumping into my chair even though I scooted inwards so that I was nearly touching the table since someone was also seated behind me. There was more room behind my boyfriend's chair AND an empty seat next to him so I didn't understand why she insisted on going behind me to take an order for the table next to us or to clean up after the people that just left. Wow, this place ain't playing!! All that hype...WAS SO WORTH!! My experience was PRE-COVID & I actually came on a weekday around 8am with the boo...where we legit still had to wait an HR?!? Rating: 3.5 I took advantage of the fact that Plow was doing takeout to try to get my brunch fix without the usual ridiculous wait time. Takeout: Lemon ricotta pancakes - This time they were a little bit overdone as the pancakes were quite brown so they were a little bit drier than normal. Slightly disappointing since this was what I was craving specifically. Bacon Benedict - this was surprisingly really good even as we ate it sloppily in the car. The bacon was crispy but still soft if that is even possible, but it was a great texture and contrast to the fresh runny eggs and sauce. It was on bread and I'm not sure if it was supposed to be English muffins, but I don't like English muffins anyway so I actually preferred the thick toast. Of course the famous potatoes were crispy and flavorful. I've been here to dine in a very long time ago but I was forever scarred by the 1.5 hour wait that we endured. The food here is solid but I don't think it's worth the wait because it's not that special. Plow was the most unique dining experience I've had in any city. Also, this is my first time ever leaving a review, but I do think this needs to be out there, and because I didn't express any of this during the experience itself to avoid adding any stress to an already busy place. Starting with the food and wait time, there is absolutely no reason to wait here for longer than 15-20 minutes. Zazie, Tartine, even a quick wait at Arizmendi is a much better use of your time. The food is good, but not outstanding or memorable, and certainly not worth waiting hours for. The chefs and servers here are extremely hardworking and putting their best foot forward, but the people responsible for managing seating are not doing them any favors. The seating system is first come first serve, with a written list where you have to physically wait around for as long as it takes to be seated. I believe it would tremendously boost customer satisfaction and improve operational efficiency for the restaurant if they allowed people to join an online waitlist. I do not think it is appropriate to ask people to wait around for over two hours on a weekend, just to be able to grab brunch. Being able to join an online waitlist manages expectations for guests and hosts, and is commonly practiced by many other popular brunch spots in the city. I think a restaurant struggling with 6+ years (based on other reviews) of having people wait for over two hours on a weekend is unacceptable. To do written lists with extremely vague rules around who gets seated when (we were seated after 2+ hours, we specifically requested an indoor table and were placed on counters, we were not able to move to tables as they came up despite politely requesting twice) adds to the frustration. We also noticed smaller parties seated on tables for four while we were given counter seats. I will definitely not be returning or recommending this place! There are plenty of other wonderful local businesses in the area to support that care about treating all of their customers fairly They are also not vegetarian friendly, and the restaurant can get extremely loud so something to be mindful of. read more

The food was delicious, hands down. That's not the only reason my family and I dine at a restaurant. We look at customer service, ambience, and taste. Food no complaints. Ambiance, a cute little restaurant. Service, we did not feel welcomed. 3 children in our group of 8. Lots of eye rolls, body language said it all for children, being children (Not all staff made us feel this way). I understand accidents happen, unfortunately a whole coffee spilt on me when the server was dropping off the drinks. (I am wearing all white and plaid button up top.) When the bill came, I made a statement "wow with a whole coffee spilling on me, I'm shocked they didn't take it off." I didn't get the servers name that I stated this to, she replied, "well you tried to grab it." I replied, "No, I seen it falling. I tried to stop it from falling on me." She walked away irritated. On top of it, I asked for a box for my leftovers, she made me feel like an inconvenience. She seemed bothered I asked her for something. I have been coming here for years and it was a go to brunch spot during the pandemic to get out of the house every now and then. There is always a wait but it's worth it. Sit outside or inside at a table but my favorite is at the counter to watch these animals knock out dish after dish on the line. With such a small space, they are killing it back there. The dishes are pretty expensive for brunch but that's San Francisco for you. I have had several of their items and they switch up the ingredients sometimes but they're always really good. My favorite thing they have are the potatoes. It doesn't need salt, pepper, ketchup or hot sauce. It's delicious. The staff is always friendly.
