I've used Plumb Masters twice in the last month. On both occasions, Clay and Jordan were my plumbing team. Their first visit was to remove a clog on my washout that was causing a backup in my home. Not only did they remove the clog, they installed a valve that would open to prevent any further backup should another clog occur. Today they came out to fix a problem with the foot pedals at my main kitchen sink. They quickly identified the problem, fixed it quickly and efficiently. Both Clay and Jordan are professionals. Called Plumb Masters to run a camera through the cleanout as I had a blockage last week that was cleared out by another plumber who didn't have a camera. Plumb Masters quoted me $385. Called another plumbing outfit that has offices in several cities across Texas and their quote was half of Plumb Masters. I recently had my tankless water heater flushed by Andrew. Andrew not only scheduled the appointment...he was also the one to come out and flush my tankless water heater. Since my wife is a graveyard nurse he was flexible and scheduled me at a time that would not interrupt her sleep before she went to work. So I've got this toilet that wouldnt stop draining and slowly leaking into the basin and I just never got around to fixing it. I knew it had to be switching out all the parts at the top that lets the water flush in. Well, I got tired of it enough to call Plumb Masters and I'm glad I did! Blue Dragon recommended Plumb Masters. Other plumbers told me replacing my trap under slab was going to cost up to $5000 and tear up a lot of my kitchen, so ok, I wanted some new cabinets anyway. I finally scheduled the job and got stood up--thank goodness. Started over with Plumb Masters who did the work for thousands less, including tile and drywall repair(!), and pulled up exactly two square feet of floor! And jackhammered without dust! It's kind of a miracle. A little disappointing, though; now I don't have an excuse to get new cabinets. read more

Scam alert! 1) I got no prior notification there would be a NINETY DOLLAR diagnosis charge--not from the scheduler, not from the website. The plumber is the first person who told me about the fee. These fees, while being promoted by companies, are BAD for us consumers. The plumber simply has no skin in the game. If you come out to give me a bid and get nothing from it, you're motivated to earn my business, so more likely to give me a fair bid. When you're going to make $90 for 15 minutes of talking, there is no incentive for your company to give me a good bid. You could bid $9000 for a $100 job. What do you care? You're making your $90 if the customer declines. If I pay the $9000, you're super happy at all of the crazy-money you're getting. You can't lose, and you also know as a customer, I can't really seek several 'bids' at $90 a pop. With NO WORK being done, I would already be out $270. I'm penalized for taking bids. BAD BUSINESS! BAD PRACTICE! 2) Your actual bid of $700 for my very simple issue was extremely high. It's insultingly high. The technician tried to sell something I didn't need--a water hammer arrestor. Sounds like a cool, expensive part, and probably many people don't bother researching stuff, but it's 10 bucks at Home Depot. Installing it is a snap, but my research showed that part is only used if you have water hammer issues--which we clearly don't. After telling me the cost for what I wanted wasn't going to be very high, the technician went and talked on the phone in his van for 10 minutes before coming back and trying to sell the arrestor and the $700 for basic plumbing idea. 3) This experience with your company has made me feel like Plumb Masters is not an honest company and the plumbing industry has declined as a legitimate service industry company. I feel less safe to call a plumber for any service after this experience, and I think that's a bad thing for your industry and your company. I certainly won't be shy about sharing my experience with friends and family, with negative reviews where it matters, and by contacting whatever oversight body governs your industry. They need to know what's going on. My goal is to change your minds about how you do business. I hope to convince others how corrosive your policies are. Customers need to stop paying prices that are clearly gouging and STOP paying the bidding fee. You shouldn't have to pay for companies to give you bids for their service. It is THEIR cost of doing business--NOT YOURS! I hope your company will reconsider your policies. Make/provide a good product, sell it for a fair price, stand behind your work. It's an old idea, but I think it was pretty good, and the industry is worse since abandoning it. IF IT SEEMS DRAMATICALLY TOO EXPENSIVE, IT PROBABLY IS! read more

We came home yesterday at 1:30pm to find our water heater leaking. Plumb Masters were at our doorstep within 30 minutes to start the process of replacing the tank. By 5:15pm they were finished and on their way. They were the one and only plumber to call us from our Home Advisor request. They were courteous, professional and genuinely cared that we were taken care of. They did a fantastic job and made sure we were happy with the work that was done. I hate to leave a bad review, but like many others on here I feel like I got ripped off by this company. I called them to get a second opinion on fixing my hot water heater because I couldn't get the pilot light lit. After looking at it for 30 minutes, they told me the same thing the first plumber told me, except they wanted $250 more to do it. Which I couldn't believe. I had agreed to pay the $89 just for them to come look at it, with the expectation that they would roll that into the final bill. I just didn't expect them to try and over charge me so excessively. That $89 is just a way to lock you in and then over charge you for their services. I will say that everyone I talked with was very friendly, especially the two guys who came out. I know it's not their fault the company is price gouging. But getting robbed is still getting robbed. Whether it's with a smile to my face or gun to my back. read more

$500.00/hour ... REALLY??? I had a main line leak in front of my house resulting in ¾ of the sidewalk (on my side of the meter) being wet. This meant there was a possibility of the leak being under the sidewalk. Knowing there was a potential for the leak to go from bad to catastrophic once you dig out and reveal it and not wanting the house to be without water during the evening hours when the family is home and needing water, I decided to hire a plumber. After researching a decided to go with Plumb Masters Inc. due to high ratings with many reviews (although the vast majority of reviews for all plumbers appear to be concerned with simple issues like replacing a kitchen faucet or a stopped up toilet). Afternoon of Sept19th I call and set up an appointment for Wed Sep 20th. The dispatched plumber calls and tells me they are 30 minutes out. 20 minutes later I arrive at the house and they are already there. His initial price quote is $1600+. I guess the look on my face told him everything because he immediately starts describing how they will probably need to dig up both sides of the sidewalk and then underneath the sidewalk (worst case scenario). After a bit of back and forth his price comes down to $1093.71. At this point I am left with a choice of paying him $90 to leave and pay someone else $90 to come out and bid on the job (which may or may not have ben similar pricing and would have added more time to getting the issue fixed) or agree to the price. After agreeing, they start digging. They had to dig next to one side of the sidewalk about 3 feet long and a foot wide to find the leak (BEST case scenario). A cracked PVC elbow replaced, fill the dirt back into the hole and the job is done 2 hours after I arrived back at the house...everything appears to be good...BUT he did not discount the repair price at all even though it was best case scenario instead of worst case. $1093.71 late and I just paid over $500.00 per hour even after the few parts necessary to fix the problem. I leave and take the kids to soccer. 2.5 hours later I arrive home to find a river running down the road from my house. I tell the kids to immediately take showers while I call Plumb Masters back out. Luckily, everyone had finished showers before the plumbers returned (back to the water shut off in the evening which is what I was trying to avoid in the first place). Another 2 hours and we are fixed again. He claims it was a different joint but the boss agreed to warrantee it as the same repair. Maybe it was just the fact that it was late but it sounded like he was trying to tell me the company was doing me a favor. Damn right is should be warranted, I Have a leak in the same area I told you to fix. Either it was not fixed or you caused another problem when you were putting the dirt back in the hole. Most of this time for the second call was spent digging the hole (again), waiting for the glue to dry, and re-filling the hole. I believe the whole practice of charging $90.00 just to come out and quote a price is just done so they will be able to jack up their prices with little to no competition. Who is going to pay $90 multiple times just to get quotes when most of the requests for plumbers should be less than $200.00. I believe the going rate for plumbers in the Austin area is around $150.00 per hour. Quoting a job as if it will take 6 to 10 hours to complete and being done in 2 and still charging the full price just makes for EXTREAMLY dissatisfied customers. This whole job was nothing I could not have done myself...it would not have been the first time. I paid someone else because I did not want the family to be without water in the evening...and that happened anyway. read more

We needed our homeowner water shut-off valve replaced in a hurry. Maybe it was just the luck of the draw, but Plumb Masters showed up in less than 2 hours. They provided me a fair quote and got right to work. Turned out that the required work took far longer than expected. They did not seek to renegotiate the deal. They also identified that the water pressure to our home was far too high. This helped solve a long-standing riddle around why we'd had several water leaks within our home. I will use Plumb Masters again. read more

Called Plumb Masters to have a look at a hot water tank that the Gas company flagged as not safe to light the pilot in a new rental house I purchased. I met them over at the house. They looked at it and sure enough the overflow valve was hooked up by incompetent people from Home Depot Contractors sure enough with a U in the pipe. Also the same contractor used a dryer vent to vent the Carbon monoxide instead of a dual wall pipe....and so the Gas company removed it and said it was unsafe. Ok so you're thinking why the 1 star. Here's where it gets interesting. The guys told me they would have to charge me nearly $1300 to remove the tank and redo the pipe plus $299 to run the dual wall vent pipe. I said no way. They then reran their numbers came back to me and said $999.51 which was $606.10 to remove and install my 4 year old tank, $199.48 to run a 3 inch pipe 2 feet long and $193.93 for an expansion tank that again is not required. I said not happening, paid the $89 service charge and sent them on their way. I then went to Home Depot purchased a $38 3 inch flexible dual walled expansion pipe and put it on in about 5 minutes. Then used a single cresent wrench, removed the piece that was causing the U, reattached the copper pipe so their is no U which took another 10 minutes. All in all I spent $38.00 and 20 minutes of my time. If you use this company I'm sure they are qualified at what they do but for Gods sake know what you're paying for because they do not know how to solve basic issues or else they're greedy crooks looking to take advantage of people that are clueless about repair work. I will assume at this point that the guys were super nice and just incompetent at problem solving vs. trying to rip me off. Either way will not be using them again. One star rightly deserved. read more

THE worst scammers I have ever come across! Cody came out at the time window they said he would, it was for a clogged toilet. He was literally at the house no more than 15 min, pulled out 1 paper towel, and then said I would be charged $185.!! Firstly, no one should ever do work without discussing the cost first. Our water heater was pouring water. My husband called these guys out on a Sunday around 2 p.m. Someone came out after about a couple of hours. After showing up he charged us $89 to turn off the water and drain. We probably could have done that part ourselves. But the plumber said not to worry he would come back the next day and take down the old one bring it to the store and get the new one since it was still under warranty. We agreed and paid the $89. The next day my husband called back and they were too busy to come out so we had to go another day w/out hot water and water still leaking out of garage. Finally that following day they arrived and told my husband it would cost $150 to take the old heater back to the store and bring the new home. no problem we were going to have to pay for that no matter what. We were told we would be paying a service fee for installation as well as the $150. they didn't go into detail about what that fee would be. Unfortunately, our fault we did not ask prior to install. They charged $606 just to install. "ridiculous"! no new plumbing was necessary but the pan size changed due to different brand heater. in addition the $89 dollars prior to the actual work. So...almost $900. I personally would never use this company again. Mostly because they are way to expensive and don't disclose information about cost. I know its a business but they could have at the least credited us the $89 service fee for closing the valve and hooking up a water hose since they were coming back and finishing the job. read more

Plumbmasters came out to inspect our water heaters. He was very thorough, explained what we should and shouldn't be doing with both our water heaters and how the connected/interacted with our water softener. We have some issues with water pressure and he was able to quickly determine the problem. What I really liked is that he gave us a time estimate on how soon it could become a bigger problem, what to expect so we'll know when to replace the part that is wearing down. There was no high pressure to do it now or we'll have a major catastrophe or offer us a price that's only good today, etc. He was reasonable and gave us a good education on how everything interacts and how we can help ourselves either fix some of the issues or use preventative measures to assist in increasing the life of our water related equipment. When we do need a plumber I will be calling Plumbmasters to do the job. read more

Do NOT use Plumb Masters - I read questionable reviews saying that they were a scam, and couldn't agree more - I only wish I had listened! If it was possible to give 0 stars, I would. Here's the situation: needed a replacement cutoff valve and didn't want to wait for our regular plumber to do the job in a few days. Called Blue Dragon, who recommended Plumb Masters, and chatted with Phil, who said that they could have someone at our house within an hour. After waiting 45 minutes with no word from the tech, Geronimo (after Phil saying that Geronimo would contact me within 15 minutes to say he was en route), I called Phil back, and after chatting, finally got ahold of Geronimo, who said he was 45 minutes out. 45 minutes later, still no Geronimo at our residence, Geronimo said he's 30 minutes out due to traffic. I checked Google Maps from his location, and there was 0 traffic. Finally, he arrives (2.5 hours after promised), and says to replace a valve (which my regular plumber quoted me $100 to change), he comes back with $500. How is there possibly this price difference?! Why would I pay 5x the price for the exact same work? I didn't, and will be telling everyone I know NOT to use their services (unless they're comfortable with broken promises and inflated prices). read more
