Bob was on my first call list after my previous experience with him. This time we had a significant water leak under the driveway with a water main. It would be hard to detect where the leak was located so Bob had me call a leak detection service and they narrowed down the location. Unfortunately, the leak was under the concrete and couldn't be accessed via an easier route which was his preferred method which he checked first. Bob's professional and you don't have to worry about price gouging. Oh, while he was out, I had him replace our pressure regulator as well. He's an independent contractor so you're not paying for a dispatcher, a company brick and mortar location, and other people up some business chain. He got back with me promptly with my inquiry as well as the repair but just remember that he's one person and is doing everything himself including getting the supplied needed for the job. I've seen some other reviews that complained about appointment times but I'd rather hire Bob and know that I'm going to get good service and pricing than wonder if I'm going to get a fair price. read more

So, I'm writing this review. Most of my properties are managed by a property management company, but it's easy enough for me to call a contractor for one of my own homes. All I can say is that it's important to keep your commitment to be where you say you'll be when you say you'll be there. Our main waterline burst. Home owners' insurance didn't cover that and the city came out and politely told me it was my problem. Ran a garden hose connecting to my neighbor's house so had water until main line was fixed. I called four plumbers, one of them 3 times, and left messages. Called Bob the plumber who answered the phone and came out the following day. He saw the problem, came up with a re-routing solution that would avoid the cutting up of cement and bricks in our hard scape. It seems kind of odd, writing a review for a plumber that I've never met, nor has ever visited my home. But I'm doing it anyway, because this guy is uncommonly awesome! Today I had a new washing machine delivered, and was bummed to have the installer tell me that they couldn't complete the work. They said the shut off valves were too corroded and that I'd need to have a plumber replace the valves first. I called around to a couple of local plumbers, and was quoted up to $400 for the repair, since the valves are recessed in the wall and some drywall work would be required. Since I'm new to the area, I decided to check out Yelp! Then I called Plumber Bob because he had so many great reviews. He asked me what type of valves were there, and after a few other questions, determined that it was likely that the corrosion was only on the hose, not the valves. He said I could just get a wire brush, clean off the corrosion, get some channel locks, and carefully disconnect the line. And if it was still too tight to remove, he offered a couple of other ideas. Ten minutes later, I had the hoses off! Shortly thereafter, I completed the install and the machine is washing it's first load as I type. Plumber Bob may not have earned any income today from solving my problem, but he certainly earned my respect, my referrals, and my business the next time I have a plumbing need. read more

I found Bob's info (yes his name is Bob) and had him out here in an hour on a Sunday with no extra charge. Bob reassured me the typical do-it-yourself methods (draino, mini snake, broom handle down garbage disposal) wouldn't have worked since the blockage was down the pipeline, out near the front of the house. Bob is honest; I felt like a friend/family member was working on my plumbing issue (which is saying a lot since Bob was a Yelp reference and not a personal reference). He saved our situation!!! Before calling him, we had the first plumber work on a miner leak of our shower and the plumber found out we needed a bigger project by going through the wall for a very high price. We looked up Yelp and called him, and decided to have him for a cheaper quote he gave us. Next day I called him on accident (my finger touched his number) and we randomly started talking. He told me he would charge us less than the half of the original estimate because he believed he could do the job without going through the wall, and he would let us choose if we wanted just a small fix of the valve, not to replace the whole thing for higher price when we dont really need it. He came in on the scheduled day and took no time to finish the job that the other plumber couldn't do taking 2 days. Then he replaced the shower head, the valve and other parts that happened to have been left in the kit he had for no charge. Plus he replaced the kitchen disposal (we purchaed the disposal itself) and fixed a couple of leaks we just found when he was doing the job. He fixed them and the total charge came out a little bit more with the original estimate. Especially after having a nightmare with another plumber company (Cal D E Inc fka SD Drain), he showed us how a plumber can be honest, professinoal, and super considerate for customers. Man Oh Man. Received my water bill on Thursday to find my water consumption had increased 200%! Checked the meter at the street and saw it was moving even with all the water turned off in the house. Went through all my fixtures inside and out and couldn't find any leaks. Turned the water supply to the house off and the meter stopped spinning. Knew it was inside but couldn't find any signs of leaks. Called a great company, CPL Detection, and they came out Friday morning. CPL tracked down my leak using their listening devices and found I had a hot water slab leak in the master bath floor. You can actually put on their headphones and listen to the water gushing out. Turned off the hot water supply at the water heater, and sure enough the meter stopped spinning. So, now I have two choices, jack hammer up my bathroom tile and slab and fix the leaking pipe, or, cap off the leaking pipe and reroute the hot water line through the attic. I didn't want to take the chance of having another leak along that particular line in the slab. Besides, once the line is re-routed in the attic, if I get any more slab leaks to other areas of the house, I already have the attic line available to tap into. Now the hard part, finding an honest, affordable plumber...... Went on YELP and saw the favorable reviews for Plumber Bob's. I liked the fact this guy was a self-employed, one man show. He depends on himself and his workmanship to provide for his family. No one else but him to accept responsibility for a good or bad reputation. I figured this guy wouldn't have so many positive reviews, over an extended period of time, if he wasn't good at what he does. Man, did I make the right call... Called Bob on Friday after CPL had found the leak. Bob called back after a short time and gave me a fair estimate based on the length of run between the water heater and the site of the leak. He said he could be at my house the following morning (Saturday). Bob showed up with his assistant Rene. It was very evident Bob had done this type of work hundreds of times before. He got right to it, figured out the best possible solution, with the least amount of drywall and stucco repair needed in the end. ( And, he referred me to a drywall guy for those repairs).
