My friend and I came here for lunch amist the loud chaos going on in the village for the Jazz, Funk and Beer Festival. We sat outside, surrounded by nice families. I had the Cobb Salad which was delicious, and I made my friend get the Balboa Burger, becasue that is one of my fav's, especially on a baguette! It was a nice experience, maybe this winter we will come for dinner or stay the weekend! read more

I've only been back from Plumpjack for a mere 24 hours, and I already miss it. Fabulous, sexy, luscious resort right at the base of Squaw Valley (not that it really mattered much, we don't ski - but it made for a gorgeous view outside of our room!!!) Checked in on Friday afternoon, and were spoiled from the onset. We had a beautiful, plush room with this giant king size bed, with wine waiting for us. The decor is sexy, modern and comfy all at the same time, and anything you need is a phone call away. Ammenities (that we used) - smallish but well-appointed fitness center, pool (didn't dare venture in - far too cold!) and two hot tubs (ventured into those - mmmmm!) In short, I am a fan of the whole Plumpjack group before staying here (and I have a thing for Gavin Newsom) but now I am a total convert - I will point blank refuse to stay anywhere else when coming up to Squaw. This place is an absolute delight! read more

We usually stay at The Resort at Squaw, but when the prices were outrageous one mid-week we were trying to get away, we chose Plumpjack instead. Pros: Cruiser Bikes to rent for free. The bikes were in good shape, and all you have to do is sign a waiver and you're off! The hotel is cute and small, so you don't have to trudge through 4 levels of rooms before you find your own. Location is prime, literally across the street from the cable car and the village. Huge comfy beds with perfect pillows and linens, I slept like a baby. Clean, modern lines. Roomy bathroom. Nice discount Friendly staff Free Breakfast Free parking Cons: The noise, as mentioned, is bad. We stayed on the ground floor and I swear it sound like the people above of us were doing p90x and running laps. However, I slept just fine. Conditioner and shampoo weren't my cup of tea Breakfast wasn't bad, just extremely minimal The shower was clean, but the door didn't shut all the way. The giant crack in the door let water seep all over the floor. Overall: Would definitely stay here again, especially for the bed. read more

this review is only for the restaurant. We always get excellent food here whether it is in the bar(different menu) or in the dining room(more fancy). My girlfriend(Noy Damrong) and I had a memorable meal in the dining room here years ago during a great ski weekend. We had a very nice 3 or 4 course meal with the wine pairing and found everything just fabulous. for $120 for two people with sushi, a filet, and great wine you cannot go wrong. Their bar food is also very good even though they no longer have the crispy duck confit salad that we so enjoyed years ago. go and drink and eat with your ski boots on, you will not be disappointed read more

I stayed 3 nights here while attending my best friends wedding on-site. Beautiful location. They have high-quality bikes available at the front for rides anytime (I went on morning bike rides during my stay - and the site is gorgeous). The staff was the most accommodating staff I've ever met. Seriously, maybe it was the high altitude, but every receptionist was smiling, and happy to be there. Be sure to buy their homemade granola. I bought extra for family gifts - only $12/bag - and best granola ever. read more

First time snowboarding the lady decided we should take it seriously and book the nicest hotel possible at the ski resort . We were greeted warmly by the staff , they asked us number of times if they can help with the language and our gear ,check in was a breeze , at some point during the stay the water wasn't hot enough, not to worry they fixed it right away, The Resturant ( we spent over 4 nights in the inn and ate at the Resturant breakfast lunch and dinner ) was great , amazing selection of wine and really warm servers , all around its close as possible to the slopes and very convenient . So why the 2 stars ? Rooms guys . At top $ you would expect a bit more then a basic room with paper thin walls, but we coulda live with that as well, what I couldn't live with was the fact that our room #203 was literally over the garbage and recycle bin, so every morning at 7:30 instead of waking up with chirp of birds and quite that is oh so typical to a resort , we woke up with the sound of "bip bip bip bip " and then the bottles going into the trash , or the truck pick up noise. Monday was the best mainly cuz they had loads of it . To summarize . We will be back to squaw valley and we will most likely stay at p.j inn , staff and overall conditions where great, but I'm sure as hell going to ask them this time to put us in a room that doesn't have this view and "nature" ambience .. read more

What a beautiful place! Some friends of ours recently had their wedding here so we stayed two nights and had a great time. From the moment we walked in we got great service. Such a friendly staff and the rooms were gorgeous. The free breakfast each morning was a nice touch and very good. The hotel is also dog friendly, they offered a one time fee of $150 which is good if you are staying for a week, not so good in our case since we only stayed two nights so we left our little one with my aunt. Next time i think I'll bite the bullet and bring her. =) Location is nice, its walking distance to some good places to eat,drink, shop and ski. The wedding was really nice and the food was amazing. If I had to have one complaint it would be cost. It's a little pricey but you get what you pay for here. It was an expensive trip but we had a blast and I will be back. read more

I like this hotel. It is a small boutique hotel. They have hot cider to greet you when you come in. I like the cozy fireplace area. They have a very decent wine list at the bar and the glassware is nice. The staff isn't terribly hotel like, but Tahoe is pretty do it yourself. I guess they figure, hey if you can ski, you better schlep your goods up the stairs by yourself. Fair assumption I believe. There is an outdoor pool and jacuzzi. The upstairs party room is very cool. There is a large carpeted area and a dance floor that can accommodate large groups. Rooms are spacious and decoration is cool and lodge like but not overwhelmingly Western. A bit of a modern flair. There are two rooms in this place with bathtubs which can be very relaxing after a long day on the slopes. Try to request one of these if you can. The rooms have nice attention to detail with products like sunscreen and chapstick. The location is the best. Hop outside and take the gondola straight onto the slope. Or walk around town and enjoy the village. read more

Our stay was fine and the staff was friendly. We loved the convenience and the dog-friendly nature of the hotel. The breakfast bar was on par with a 3-star hotel (basic). The rooms and the hot tubs are starting to feel pretty dated and tired. I understand they are about to take on a remodel. I would have gone with a 3 or 4 stars BUT after our drive home, I realized that I left an item in our room. We called the same night we checked out. The front desk staff seemed unconcerned and had no detail on a process for recovering lost items (most hotels have a pretty meticulous process for this). We followed up with an email with a picture of the item. No response. We followed up with a second call and the staff had no information and didn't offer any indication that we would get a call back or that they were interested in helping. If I did this at a standard roadside motel, I would expect as much, but for a place that bills itself as a "luxury hotel" this is an epic fail. read more

Absolutely fantastic. We (myself + hubby + baby) recently stayed here for a wedding in the Village, and I am so glad we choose this hotel from the many offerings in the area! A true boutique hotel (not like others who only count the # of rooms, and call it a day). Staff is incredibly helpful in so many ways, making you feel welcome and comfortable from the moment you drive up. I also appreciated that they were very transparent in explaining all of the offerings and services they have (valet = free, rentals = discounted, breakfast = free, resort fee = reasonably and necessary). Kevin was on staff for the majority of our stay, and I want to send out a huge thanks to him for making the long weekend one to remember. We checked in late afternoon and were offered a glass of wine while we got everything set up. Not only did I respond with a "you bet!", but it was actually a very good Napa Cab - thank you for that. Unfortunately, time did not allow for a ski trip this round, but what a great place to stay if you did. They hold all your gear up front for you (uber convenient), and you are literally steps from the base of the mountain. Timing did allow for us to have an early dinner/late HH in the bar area, and I was fully impressed. Our waitress was helpful, friendly and on point with recommendations and compliments to our [very active] 10-month old. Bartender made one of the best hot toddys that I have ever had, and I am still dreaming of their burger. Breakfast was stellar as well: their housemade granola is not quite the healthiest of options, but man, so good! Farm fresh eggs were fluffy and always fresh and hot; great breads for toasting, fresh yogurt, strong coffee, Mighty Leaf tea, and either bacon or breakfast sausage. I have a huge appetite, and this was perfect. Room was modern and clean with everything you could want (including spa sandals to plop around after your shower) and nothing that you didn't. We had a room on the first floor, and it felt like having our own cottage :-) I will make 1 comment that the housekeeping staff - friendly and efficient - were a bit rowdy down the hallway ~ 9:30-11am each day. I only notice this so much as this is our child's prime nap time, so we had to use the white noise app to ensure that everyone got the benefit of that nap! If (when?!) we return, I hope to stay at Plumpjack hands down. read more

There aren't many hotels where you can stay less than 100 yards from the gondola of a world-class ski resort in a hotel that is plush but not haughty or ostentatious. Plump Jack's is a really cool hotel. It's small but friendly and has a great breakfast in the morning too. The dude at the desk was cool and hooked me up with a late season rate and discount too. The rooms are not big but they feel cozy and spacious. The bed was super comfortable. My room had the extra amenities that made it better than your typical Holiday Inn or even my typical Hilton stay. They included an iPod clock, bath robes, LED TV and a really nice bathroom with huge shower. While I crashed there so that I could go skiing earlier, Plump Jack's would make a great hotel to stay at for a weekend getaway with a spouse too. About the only downside is that it is not cheap. Even with an offseason rate, the room was still almost $200 for the night. read more

The bad: I'd never been to a boutique motel before, but I have stayed at Carneros. Though owned by the same group and priced nearly the equivalent the accommodations at Plumpjack aren't tall enough to sniff it's big brothers ascot. I'm just happy with the house wine-- at $10 a glass and hubby's being adventurous and trying some cocktail with Pisco Sour, a South American brandy alternative. It's has hints of orange and is quite tasty. I'd also recommend the ceviche cones with fresh avocado and shreds of chili. Three cones for $15 and they come served like ice cream cones. This is a great place to come in from the cold at Squaw Valley, just a short walking distance from the slopes. read more

Though, I have never stayed at the Inn, we ALWAYS make a point to eat at the restaurant. Sometimes twice. The food is so good, I almost cried once. It is true fresh California-French gourmet. NOTHING is lacking. NOTHING is done without the utmost attention to taste. You could probably lick the leftover dishes for morsels and still be BEYOND satisfied. Standouts always include any game and short ribs that melt in your mouth and dance down your throat. YOU CANNOT GO WRONG WITH THIS RESTAURANT. Okay. I'll stop gushing. Another plus to Plumpjack is that the room is relatively small, so service is excellent, but never imposing. Unlike other restaurants of its caliber, I've never felt as if I should bow down to its importance. It's not self-important or aggrandizing. If you are in Squaw, you're a moron for not going. Winter stay for a wedding. Comfortable beds with luxury linens. Stayed with two kids, 9 and 7; the double room is a little small but the two chairs and table were enjoyed by the kids. There was not a tub but the bathroom was a good size. The included breakfast is really terrific and makes the room much more valuable. The wedding was held in the conference center. While I have to say I did not have a bad time here, nor any truly unpleasant experiences, I just feel like you just don't get what you pay for. My girlfriend and I spent 3 nights here, including New Years Eve. This should about sum it up: Nearly $400 a night for a room without a tub (shower only). Strange decor that looks like a ski lodge on 'shrooms. Not particularly helpful staff, as I struggled through the door with two suitcases and a snowboard, with no offer of help. "Sorry, I thought the guy in front of you would hold the door for you" apologized the guy at the front desk. They keep your snowboard somewhere behind the desk for you, which seems great. Until you wake up at 8:00, anxious to hit the slopes, and get stuck behind some rich c**t with an overpaid husband while she bitches and complains for 15 minutes, preventing the nice and apologetic desk guy from getting my board for me. The famous Plumpjack restaurant was good, solid fine dining. Everything we ordered was delicious and the service was fantastic. Ordering from their bar menu (on New Years Eve) and sitting in the bar was a different story. Upon being seated, we already had 2 glasses of champagne from the bar, but ordered a bottle (along with our food), which was brought out and put on ice. After quite a wait with empty glasses, we finally opened our own bottle, later receiving an insincere apology from our "waitress." She really didn't do anything but take our order and drop the check before we were half done with our bottle. About 10 minutes later she grabs the check from our table, though we had made no effort to actually pay it yet, given that we still had at least 2 glasses of champagne left to drink. She was then forced to sheepishly return the unpaid check to us, offering to "pick it up whenever your ready." Thanks sweetheart... The complimentary breakfast buffet was decent at best, and set up poorly. The food took us so much of the table that you could set your plate down and the coffee was in the MIDDLE OF THE BUFFET LINE(!!!) so you got to try and mix and stir your coffee, while holding your plate, before proceeding to additional food items, now with boiling hot coffee firmly in hand and half-full plate of food in the other. Finally I just started making multiple trips to and from my table before starting that most important of meals. On the plus side, the location is fantastic and the 2 hot tubs go largely unused and are nice and private. The bed was large, luxurious, and does not squeak when it's getting a work out. However, if you are TRYING to get back at your neighbors with the screaming, obnoxious hell spawn, then a little loud moaning and banging on the wall at 4 AM should provide a nice and uncomfortable environment for Mom, Dad, and their little bundles of shit, err, joy. Overall, it was still an enjoyable weekend at a nice hotel with a good restaurant. However, I wouldn't go back. For the price, you can do a whole lot better. read more

Nice enough hotel decor and a good location, and if you can score a discount and get the rooms for under one-fifty a night, then the cons aren't so bad. But at rack rates, I can't imagine why you'd stay here. Some of the infrastructure is in need of attention. We were on the second floor and the super squeeky floor was annoying but boy were we glad we weren't staying below us, which would have been horrible. We were there during snow weather and the room got so humid we had to leave the window open at night to keep it from becoming a stuffy sauna. The two spa's by the pool were welcome after an exhausting day, but the walls were chipped and really for the price and high end aspirations of the hotel they should been stone or tile and not fiberglass. Finally, the room had a shower stall that looked like it hadn't been included in the latest makeover. Still felt like a 1970's motel shower. If you are not going to have a tub in the room, a luxury room better have a nice plate glass shower and not just a prefab stall. They do have flat panel tv's and a dvd player. So I won't complain too much that they don't have HD service. And the hotel staff was always friendly and helpful, which is great. I wish they had a more solid place to stand behind. I mean, no recycling? Really? This is prime eco territory and I'd love to recycle that photocopied summary of NYTimes articles left in front of every room every morning. As others have noted: breakfast is included but it's a modest buffet. One egg dish, one potato dish, one bacon batch, you get the idea. It will fill you up but it's nothing like a luxurious lodge breakfast. Glad it's free, though even at that price we opted to run over to the village for decent coffee (yes Starbucks handily beat the PlumpJack) on our second morning. If the hotel didn't try to aim so high, and charge like they deliver, I'd probably give them four stars. The staff was so great that I'd like to give them four stars just for that. But there were just too many little things out of whack that a high end hotel can't allow. I know it's a ski lodge etc. But they clearly think of themselves as more, and charge as if they succeed. So it's three stars and the hope they work it up to four in the future. read more

The manager tonight was completely rude and inflexible to myself and to my group of friends. We were a walk in group the Restraunt was completely empty and he suggested us to eat in the bar! It was rude and made us feel crappy!! The food was just ok but the manager was terrible absolutely no personality!!! I will never go there again! read more

Truly mediocre, especially considering its cost. How many hotels have no air conditioning in 2012? Overall stuffy feeling throughout, not helped at all by low ceilings, and lack of air circulation. On our arrival on a warm afternoon we had to make do with an open window and "hardware store" window fan, which is standard in all rooms. I can't remember being in an un-air conditioned room in any other hotel, let alone one with this $$$$ price point! Starting with the lobby, the place is shabby, tired, and uninviting. Arrival at the front desk was unenthusiastic (a young man at the desk was so engrossed in some computer problem, we were just left standing for about 10 minutes). Finally a young lady registered us in a most perfunctory way, as if she was doing us a favor. Wifi was barely usable, off and on. The only way I could count on internet service was with the cellular service option on my iPad. A half-bottle of Cade Cabernet Sauvignon was priced at $53 among overpriced room bar offerings. TV picture was lousy. This place is a ripoff, trying to get by with the minimum of effort and expense. If you read any of my other reviews you will see I recognize good performance and service. This place has neither. My biggest pleasure was getting out into the fresh air when leaving, instead of the stuffiness (see no a/c, above) throughout the interior (room, bar, everyplace). read more

We had our wedding here earlier this month and we could not be happier with our experience. The Plumpjack staff from sales to catering to event staff to kitchen to bar to front desk were all absolutely top notch. Their sense of hospitality seems to be of the sixth sense variety and they all seemed genuinely concerned with making sure our winter wedding went without a hitch. It snowed two feet the night before and day of our wedding- some of the staff came in on their days off to shovel the ceremony site to ensure that we got to get married under the cliff face of Squaw. We were truly treated like VIPs from the first day we had a site visit until the day we checked out. Our guests all gushed about how great their experience was. Thank you, Plumpack, especially Ilana Heyne, Marion Rogers and Rob McCormick for going way above and beyond our wildest expectations. You have customers for life! read more

We loved this hotel!! The rate for summer was amazing, the free breakfast buffet was delicious and filling, and the hot tub was fabulous! Bill, the young man at the front desk was incredibly helpful! The location was superb as my family was staying in Alpine Meadows and we loved having a Starbucks! The fiberglass hot tub could use a cleaning and the pool needs repainting. The landscaping and architecture are gorgeous and it was quiet and relaxing!! read more

I was absolutely blown away and very pleased by our time spent at PlumpJack Squaw Valley Inn! My husband and I spent one week at PlumpJack Squaw Valley Inn to celebrate our honeymoon. I highly recommend staying here if you are looking for a quiet, romantic, and charming place to stay! All of their employees work very hard to make sure you have everything you need every single day! Bill (an employee at PlumpJack) went the extra mile to make our honeymoon stay feel very special. Upon our arrival into our room, there were beautiful rose petals placed on our bed with a bottle of wine with 2 wine glasses! Bill even provided my husband with dumbbell weights to take to our room since their gym was closed due to COVID-19. It was a very nice surprise that made our stay feel very special! We also enjoyed waking up every morning and getting a free cup of coffee at the front desk from Rickey and Taryn. Taryn, Bill and Rickey all took time to share with us their favorite places and activities in Lake Tahoe. The location was perfect and we felt like we were right in the middle of everything we wanted to do! About a 30 min drive to north Lake Tahoe, 1 hr drive to South Lake Tahoe, and 30 min drive to Truckee. The scenery around the Inn was absolutely stunning and there are tons of restaurants and shops nearby the PlumpJack Squaw Valley Inn. PlumpJack Squaw Valley Inn is very clean!! We stayed in the Poulsen suite with AC! We happened to be visiting during a heat wave in California so I do recommend staying in the suite with air conditioning if this heat wave happens during your stay! Thank you again to all of the staff at PlumpJack Squaw Valley Inn, but especially to Bill because he was the first person I talked to on the phone when trying to decide where to stay during our visit! He was so polite, kind and genuinely a great guy. Meeting him in person was the best! You truly do get everything the staff tells you over the phone and more!! I admit, I have a special place in my heart for the PlumpJack in Squaw Valley. My husband and I got married here in 2007 and were totally "wowed" by the service. Liz Dugan, who was the main contact person for weddings at that time, bent over backwards to accommodate us and make sure our experience was nothing less than spectacular. We were spoiled from the start, having been put up in the penthouse suite for the wedding. I personally have never stayed in one of the standard rooms, but I have seen them and they are tiny--and expensive. Maybe the markup is due to the hotel's proximity to skiing? I don't know if I could justify $300 a night for a hotel room the size of a cruise-ship room for any other reason! I have always had a pleasant experience at PlumpJack, but lately, have steered away from it mainly because of the price. To be honest, you can get a bigger room and find a better deal at The Resort at Squaw Creek. But, they do have a pretty hoppin' lobby apres-ski. It always seems to be packed in the afternoons and evenings with people grabbing a snack and a beer after a day on the mountain. They have a great burger at the bar-area cafe. Their upscale restaurant is really nice, too. I've never had a bad meal there, and the menu is always interesting and creative--not a lot of "standard" dishes (a la filet mignon with potatoes and veggies, etc.), which is totally refreshing. read more

the woman who checked us in was actually great - very engaging. Your housekeeping staff was kind..although they failed to clean our room on the 2nd day. Other staff.. not so much. Where you really take a giant hit is the comfort of your rooms.  Nothing more than a slightly decorative Motel 6. Example: The bed is broken down and is way over due to be replaced. The walls are thin, and I was repeatedly awakened by the sound of pipes all night long. There isn't a single drawer in which to place personal items, unless you want to count that ridiculous mini rattan tower. The only air is an overhead fan and a miniature plastic fan next to the window, which circulate hot air. And I have never stayed in a room without a comfortable chair. Two stiff 90 degree dining room type chairs just don't cut it. Nowhere to sit comfortably. The television appears to be an old 32" early circa flat screen. Your website  misrepresents your product - our king size room certainly did not look like what was pictured. Come on, PlumpJack, this is a terrible representation of your brand. It's embarrassing. I will not stay here again or recommend your establishment to any friends or family. read more

Spent three nights during the week at PlumpJack. Definitely come early in the week if you want to avoid big crowds. This is the only inn that allows dogs, so we didn't have many choices to stay since we wanted to bring our dog. We were pretty much content during our stay. We had the king bed room on the first floor--it was just a regular room with a big bed, table and bathroom. If you have a dog, they'll provide a dog bed and bowls along with two milkbone treats. We ordered room service for most nights. We enjoyed the food--it was definitely "fine dining" type of food. The employees were very friendly. The only gripes we had was that the wifi was spotty, there was noise throughout the day (people cleaning, water pipes, workers outside shoveling snow) and our smoke detector had the low battery beep every now and then. Also, the cell reception was pretty weak, and we have Verizon. If you're here to enjoy the mountains, this will be no problem for you, but for those that just want to relax and be lazy and stay in, this could be an issue. We would come back again. read more

Though I had one of the desk agents LIE to me the night I made an online reservation after being told that they were "Completely sold out," we all still had an awesome time here. (The agent who needs to be called out worked the night shift on July 17th; I called, she stumbled, lied, and then I said can I just book the ones online, and she goes, OH YEA, there are two rooms left. way to lie, dude.) Anyway, complimentary breakfast is 10 times better than what you normally think of "continental breakfast.." It was amazing, mini waffles with warm syrup, tons of gourmet pastries and fruit, bacon, minced potato hash, fresh juices and more! It was sooo casual there that guests came down into the lobby and into the Cafe in their ROBES! And to top it off, you only get two per room, and we had eleven people in two rooms (quite comfortable by the way), The waitress was so nice she charged my third friend a "child's breakfast" because she didn't eat as much as the $20 adult breakfast would warrant. Man, and try the Grapefruit water. Also, I never ever remembered saying "Thank you!" so much at the moment of check-in. From offering to carry my bags, to parking arrangements, to later check out times, to putting our rooms together, to just being the bomb desk staff and doing a 180 degree switch from that girl who LIED to me earlier in the week. This place would be 5 stars if that girl did not LIE to me. Gavin (founder of the Plumpjack Inn) you need to regulate on this girl. Came here during the summer for a wedding and had a fantastic time. I'll talk about both parts: wedding and the hotel facilities. WEDDING The hotel is located near the Queen of the Snows Church, which was where the ceremony I attended was. Afterwards, the reception was held at the Plumpjack Inn. There's an outdoor area by the pool with seating, and a place to serve drinks. Eventually, we made our way inside the building where the reception dinner was held, which was excellent (food, service, everything!). Afterwards everyone headed upstairs, where we found a nice dance floor with side areas with tables for those who preferred to lurk. All in all, an excellent facility for a wedding reception! HOTEL The room decor is a bit odd, but nice. At first I was puzzled by the presence of a cement floor area by the doorway (it transitions to a carpet for the bedroom), but my friend pointed out it would be perfect for taking off wet ski-ware for the winters. Free wifi! The breakfast (included) was delicious as well - waffles, eggs, bacon, fruit, cereal, juice, coffee... Oh, and there were robes and slippers in the room as well! I love that. The hotel also has 2 separate hot tubs, which were awesome late at night (though we couldn't figure out how to get the jets going...maybe they forbid it after a certain time?) 5 stars for their breakfast buffet. We stayed at The Village Resort next door and were starving for some breakfast when we came upon this deal. The buffet offered everything you could think of. My favorite was their granola blend and their coffee cake loaf. And must I not forget to mention, the unlimited bacon! I'd definitely stop here again on my future visits. read more

This is really more of 3.5 stars. I love boutique style hotels. This one was lacking in decor (the rooms were decorated in a mix of industrial/country which is not a good design combo) and the wifi internet connection did not work in my room. They called the "engineer" but nothing was fixed. You have to go to the café/bar to get a connection and if you are on a work trip, working quietly in your room is much more preferred. The morning cleaning crew was kind of loud and I could hear people clearly speaking and laughing in the hallway (mostly guests however so thin walls, I suppose). Other than these few things, the staff was pretty amazing and very friendly. We planned a large dinner and we had an amazing time. The food was amazing and the drinks were tasty. Everyone was very accommodating. If I were to return, I would request a room where wifi works well and that is more private so I cannot hear folks in the hallway. Last note: proximity to lifts at USA Ski Resort is pretty awesome. read more

This was exactly what we were looking for...a well appointed boutique hotel, cozy yet private, centered somewhere with beautiful views and no need to leave...staying at Plumpjack was a great experience. We booked the room for $225, it included a wonderful breakfast (those white chocolate pistachio scones were to die for!) they have their own in house bakery! The room was cute (not luxury St Regis style, but we werent expecting that!), it had a nice large bathroom, a comfortable bed, and even a Keurig! Inside the hotel there is also a nice, but small gym. That night we ate at Plumpjack Cafe, which I have written about in another review and we had a wonderful dinner at a reasonable price. Overall, it was a great experience and we are looking forward to booking our next mini-vacation here soon! read more

My wife and I have been coming here for 3 years now, everytime in the summer, and we have absolutely loved it each time. The hotel staff is extremely nice/friendly/pleasant, and the hotel itself has a lot of charm, but is still modern enough so there are no "old skool" type issues, if you know what I mean. Squaw Valley resort is pretty empty during the summer time, but walking around is still pretty fun. Also, some really solid nearby hikes can be done within a few minutes of the hotel. Only really strange part is the odd "Halloween" lights outside each room door, but I guess that also is what they mean by character. Best part, clearly, is the included, 5-star breakfast. Anyways, overall, would definitely recommend for a summer weekend. read more

I came here with my wife for our Anniversary. I can't say enough good things about this hotel. Most of my praise comes from how they were so right on in regard to the customer service attitude of a "boutique" hotel. The front desk staff was great. We arrived a little later than planned so our first night was spent in a first floor room that looked out to the back parking lot. The room was still very nice. It was one of the remodeled rooms. It was comfortable and well appointed. When we discovered we were going to be in this room, I asked the woman at the front desk if we could move rooms the second day (we were staying for 3 nights). The woman at the front desk (I need to find out her name and put it here and tell the management) made sure to find us a great 2nd floor room that would be available the next day. She noted our file. My part of the deal was to pack up our belongings so the housekeeping staff could easily move our items while we were out skiing. Unfortunately, we were running late in the morning and ran out to ski. We completely forgot to pack our stuff. We were so surprised and impressed to find that the housekeeping and front desk staff carefully moved all of our belongings to the new room. They called and left us a voicemail to let us know that the room was switched and we should stop by to get a new key. In my opinion, this is just above and beyond. I will write about the great service and food at the restaurant in a separate review. We will definitely come back here next time we have the opportunity. read more

Ok, time to update my review. I had a much nicer stay for a midweek powder sojourn last month. The room upstairs had a nice view of the pool area and was much quieter than on my previous stay. The metal art logo still bugs me, but that's just me. It certainly qualifies as an art piece. The staff was friendly as always. They took care of me by getting me squared away with a late meal and a PBR after my late arrival. The location came in very handy. The big snow closed the upper mountain on my first day of riding, so I was able to be in line when KT22 opened after a short walk. The next day, the untouched upper mountain was open and I was on the Funitel right at the opening. read more

PlumpJack Squaw Valley Inn was the perfect wedding venue! We were able to do all of our wedding day events in the various areas within PlumpJack so that our guests didn't have to transport between locations to enjoy our wedding (and we didn't have to worry about logistics and transportation!). Lodging The hotel is beautiful. The complimentary breakfast is out of this world. The pool area is comfortable and relaxing. They are dog friendly, and it was so fun to bring our black lab to our wedding weekend. Ceremony It's the perfect setting under the peaks of KT-22 and High Camp. The stone-floored creek side area makes for a beautiful aisle to walk down. Where the sun sets in the afternoon makes for the perfect lighting and comfortable summer temperature for all the guests. Cocktail Hour and Dinner Everyone had a blast. The booze was flowing. PlumpJack had enough people on staff so that no one had to wait in line for too long to get a drink. The food was absolutely delicious - we did passed appetizers, seasonal salad, main course, and cupcakes. The chef is very friendly and extremely talented. Planning Process MOST IMPORTANTLY... The PlumpJack team (Ilana, Marion, and Rob) were such a pleasure to work with. They were professional, responsive, creative, supportive - qualities that were so helpful and invaluable in a wedding venue management team. They worked closely with us throughout the many-months-long planning process to make sure that they were providing everything we needed and that they understood exactly how our wedding day was supposed to go. On the day of, they executed everything as planned. My husband and I didn't have to worry about a thing, and we were able to just enjoy ourselves. If you are looking to have a wedding in Tahoe, consider PlumpJack. At the very least, meet the team and see the venue in person. read more

This place is super dog friendly. They provide food/water bowls and a large size dog bed for your best friend. They also have a wonderful complimentary breakfast in the morning. The rooms are very clean and nice and the facility provides free bikes and is eco friendly. We will definitely be coming back here for our next visit very soon. read more

This hotel is absolutely beautiful! The rooms are nice and the beds are comfortable. I love the Plumpjack bar and all the bartenders. On this particular visit, what really made the experience above and beyond wonderful, was a lady Rachel who works at the front desk. She was such a delight! She was friendly, attentive, knowledgeable and you could tell she was passionate about her job and making people happy. She is a dream of an employee! My husband and I have been coming to the hotel every summer. It's modern but causal with great customer service. The included breakfast at this hotel is yummy. My complaint is that there is no air conditioning. The only solution they have is to keep the window open and use a fan. Unfortunately, our window faces the parking lot so keeping the window all night is a little scary. The person at the front desk said they have never had an incident but agreed it's a little scary. When we checked out, the hotel did remove our resort fee because of the inconvience without us having to mention it, which was nice. Also, it got loud at night because we were facing the parking lot. read more

Had to set-up heat lamps and umbrellas on our own, even though we informed staff a large group would be going outside (forecasted for light rain and it was cold) for drinks and cigars. More than half of the heat lamps didn't work. The food and beverage manager comes out and sees that we had brought drinks of our own (2 bottles with a group of 10+) and in a very condescending manner said "we do have a full service bar inside". Never mind the fact that we had already spent a few hundred at the bar the night before, more on this night and the next (easily +$2k). His unprofessional and contentious manner didn't stop there. What happens next is inexcusable and deplorable and destroyed what was a great trip and experience until then (despite his manner on the patio). While parents were enjoying drinks/food/cigars in the patio area outside the restaurant, some of our boys wanted to have dinner in the restaurant. I escorted them in and the same food and beverage manager says "oh you again". I have no words for how to respond to that, whatever. I let him know the boys will be having dinner and I would prefer a window seat for them. There were 3 open window seats. He said they all had reservations, but could seat them in the bar area (they are minors). I said your kidding right, that doesn't work so you need to find them a seat in the restaurant and again window is preferred. He sat them in the back of the restaurant and the entire time I was on the patio watching, the window seats stayed empty. Really unfortunate how the inappropriate and shameful actions of one individual can negatively impact the experience for someone and future profits for a business.
