    Pork Kabob meal
    Jim S.

I stopped here for lunch and here's my review of Plush Pup. It's your typical Chicago large diner restaurant. I arrived and took in the vibes and walked up to place my order. Not sure what I wanted but after a quick scan I went with the pork Kabobs lunch meal for like $15.99. I got soup and a drink. I forgot the soup I got but I remember it was pretty good. Then here's my review of the main show which were the pork Kabobs. The Kabobs were on point and very flavorful and delicious! The rice and salad was a nice pairing with the meal. Overall it was a good meal for a decent price. I'd get it again. Keep up the great work Plush Pup!

Haven't been here in years and was in the area so I figured a return visit was called for. It's in a strip mall with ample parking. I recommend bringing cash, as there is a surcharge for credit cards. Stopped in around 12:30pm on a weekday and it was not busy. Service was fast but stoic. Love the 50's decor! The dining area was clean and comfortable. Ordered the char grilled hot dog with everything. Note that when you order a dog with everything, that does not include sport peppers. Those must be added separately. I also noticed that they don't put celery salt on their hot dogs. Not a big deal, but something that is different from other Chicago dogs. The dog also came with a slice of cucumber, which was also a variation from your typical Chicago dog. The cucumber was a nice touch and a bit refreshing. The char grilled dog itself was hot and juicy, and the toppings were generous. Unfortunately, the bottom of the hot dog bun was hard which downgraded my rating. They may want to check the freshness of their hot dog buns or steam them before using.

We ordered the 1/2 greek style chicken it was good...chicken was juicy and well seasoned

Onion rings, patty melt with fries

Had seen this place on instagram and also read that they serve a mean hotdog, the ambiance was super retro cute, and very clean. You order at the counter, and it seemed as if the cook/waiter was having a bit of a bad day, almost as if our presence was an annoyance. The woman checking us out was very friendly, and attentive, even while she was multi tasking with phone and pick up orders. Had the patty melt, ask for thousand island on the melt and you won't be disappointed! Side of fries were overdone, onion rings had too much breading, and the cheese sauce tasteless. Did also order the double cheeseburger which was fresh and tasty, but really could have enjoyed some awesome sides with those Sammy's which was a bit of a bummer. Oh well! One and done for this joint!

So I am havering a Hard time finding a decent beef sandwich in the area. Stopped into Plush Pup and they have a good beef as long as the bread and meet is wet . Good flavor in the juice. Make sure it's wet . Cheese fries were great! Fries were crispy and flavorful and cheese sauce tasted good. Pizza puff was meaty and flavorful. I would definitely give this place another try!

This place is a conundrum for me. I factor in price to a point, I don't mind spending money on a good meal. Hell, I've spent $95 dollars on a steak once, that didn't come with sides. I scoured the menu for a 2 dog meal deal which they didn't have. Maybe I overlooked it or they need to add one. The one hot dog meal deal consisted of a hot dog, medium soda, and fries for $9.25. If I bought everything individually, I would have spent $9.49. Wow, a .24 cents savings!!! I ordered a second dog, nonetheless. Ouch! I received my order quickly and sat down. I looked into a bag with a mound of piping hot fries and unwrapped my dog and was greeted with a snap dog with all the trimming including cucumbers and bright neon green relish. Things were looking up for that price point. I grabbed a handful of fries and noticed they really lacked salt. Thank goodness for salt shakers on the table. IMHO, if the fries aren't salted straight out of the fryer, the salt just bounces off the fry. I had to use ketchup for the fries so the salt could adhere to the fries. The fries might have been an oversight, so I was looking forward to pigging out on my snap dog. The pickle was large and filled up the bun, the cucumber and tomatoes were super fresh and were cut thick. I love the heat of the peppers but all the ingredients were out of proportion to the hot dog. The onions, wow, I love onions but it was swimming in onions plus they were lacking any true punch of flavor. All in all, it was good, not great. This place could be a solid 5 out of 5 if they tweak a couple of things. As it stands now, I give them a 3.0/5.0

I didn't even make it to the pork belly taco because I was full off the flauta and chorizo taco lol. The hot sauces that they bring to your table in the squirt bottles were bomb dot com!! Spicy enough for some "flava" but not burn your bottle hole spicy. Overall, I highly recommend this establishment for the vibes (I requested they play Bad Bunny and they obliged- zero questions asked and no pushback) and the food! If you're ever having group get together or small party, this place would be great! They also have brunch on the weekends which I will bring some moms back for, for some "Momosa" Dates! We arrived early for our reservation and were taken right in. We ordered two appetizers, the bacon & potato croquettes and the corn bread in the iron skillet. They were both very good. I had the Prime Rib, it was flavorful and brought out exactly how I wanted it--rare. My daughter had the rotisserie chicken and was very pleased with her meal. My wife had the Pike Place Salmon with the smashed cucumbers. She would order it again. The skillet cookie we ordered to share for dessert was very undercooked. It was just a smidgeon over raw dough. While it had the ice cream, it didn't have the caramel the menu advertised. A few more minutes in the oven would have solved the raw dough issue The server was obviously new and had some missteps. He was late to greet the table in a half full restaurant. The drinks had a late arrival-after the appetizers had arrived and never came back to check on the table. It also took an inordinate amount of time to find him to get the check then having him return with the receipt. The restaurant was very clean and tidy, extra points given for having immaculate restrooms. Some suggestions: Perhaps another potato option(s) besides mashed or fries. The space feels simple and comfortable, making it a place someone can visit regularly for a quick, reliable meal. The menu is very straightforward and features typical diner staples. The food was pretty good, but the dishes were very basic with nothing particularly unique about them. It felt like the kind of food you might make at home, which is not necessarily a bad thing, but it wasn't especially memorable either. I ordered an egg sandwich with cheese and sausage ($9.95). I also ordered bacon on the side (3 for $4.25). The egg sandwich was okay, but the bagel tasted like those cheap bagels you would get at a hotel during their complimentary breakfast that come from a bag. The sandwich didn't have anything on it other than exactly what they called it on the menu: a bagel, sausage links cut in half, an egg, and cheese. Nothing on the sandwich was seasoned or flavorful. My husband enjoyed his food much more than I did, and he ordered the Big Texas Breakfast ($12.95). This came with country-fried steak with sausage gravy on top, 2 eggs your way, and hash brown potatoes. He also ordered sausage links on the side (3 for $4.25). The service was friendly, and everything came out in a reasonable amount of time, which worked well for us since we were on a bit of a tight schedule. Overall, Lola's Diner delivered a simple diner experience with homemade-style food. I would come here again, but it wouldn't be my first choice for breakfast.
