I was really craving a smoothie. I heard good things about this place so I thought I'd give it a try. To be fair, I stupidly didn't look at the hours and thought they were still open around 3:30 on Friday, May 10, because the door was still open as they were closing. The person first encountered me as they were closing as I was browsing the menu outside and said "woah you scared me." I felt really badly. I walked in thinking they were open and that same person said "I'll just shut the door behind you." And then I walk in to look at the menu and the same person asked "woah, where are you going?" Made me feel very stupid and badly. I then asked if they were still open and that person said "no, we close at 3." I apologized and instead of politely saying it's okay, that person said "ugh it's okay haha." It was very passive aggressive. I tried to stay patient and being autistic and having anxiety myself, I easily get sensitive. They could've just told me they were closed when I was looking at the menu and I probably would've come back and ranked this place higher. I don't think I'll be going back after this encounter, which gave me very bougie vibes. I hate to do this, but the last few times I've been here the quality of the food has really gone down. I just ordered a breakfast burrito and there's hardly any food at all. This place was so cute and has fantastic, healthy food if you're looking for a guilt free breakfast in Portland. Came here with a friend for breakfast and it is nestled in a cute area of Portland with lots of great shopping and food, coffee shops and more in the surrounding area. The interior was clean and it is self serve with ordering at the counter. Unique food options, i opted for a ginger lemon shot then the pink poa toast which was exceptional! The beet sauce is to die for not sure what they put in it but it is so so tasty! My colleague got the paleo bowl which she really enjoyed and highly recommended. She also ordered the chagaccino which is one of my favorite drinks and was super tasty! We ate the food before I could get photos but hope to go back and capture some next time cause it was so amazing! I am very disappointed with the burrito I ordered through Postmates. There was hardly any egg and a couple of pieces of spinach but a ton of avocado. In the pictures they show the sweet potato as orange colored (yams) but this burrito has the white sweet potatoes. The taste was okay. The avocado really masked any of the taste it was trying to convey. The only reason I give it a 2 star review is because I asked for no queso fresco and they did as I asked. read more

Here's a tip: if you're going to advertise avocado toast, you should make sure that the item (i) contains avocado; and (ii) has **toasted** bread. Otherwise, you end up serving the customer a soggy piece of sourdough bread with avocado seeping down into it. Other reviewers' photos show that the restaurant knows how to toast bread. I am having a really bad couple of weeks. I ordered breakfast from Poa this morning and I literally felt compelled to let them know how amazing their food is. You have made my day so much brighter:))) I ordered the avocado toast and added smoked salmon. Everything about this meal was delicious from the first bite to the last. The bread was a thick cut artisan slice, with a nice crust. It was covered in delicious mashed avocado, flavorful melt in your mouth smoked salmon, and topped with really fresh salad greens dressed with a delicious honey mustard dressing. I would give 6+ stars if I could. We had party/reception at Poa for nearly 60 people on July 3, 2021 evening. It was the best event experience I ever had. The vibe, the drinks, the food, the cost!!! all amazing. Janice and her team did an outstanding job of service all around. We hung out on the large outside patio - and danced inside - with a dj. My boyfriend and I live down the street and have both given this place many many shots to get it right. It fails every time due to unfriendly service and a product that is just not quality enough for the price point they charge. An $8 smoothie that has the same consistency as water and tastes void of nutritional value is not worth $8. My friend and I went in for brunch today and we both dealt with the rudest staff (two different women). She was charged twice and the woman at the register seemed pretty upset she was asked to show that it was refunded. My wife had some other mom friends refer her to this cafe, and we decided to give it a try for brunch on a Saturday. It is located in a great spot right off N Williams. Upon walking in the first thing I noticed was the noise. I am an elementary educator who is very used to the loudness of a child, but this place is LOUD. My wife ordered a bacon/brussel/sweet potato bowl that was VERY tasty. I ordered avocado toast w/bacon and egg. The bacon was quite good, but the toast was under toasted and the avocado a bit bland. We both ordered coffee (drip and cold brew) neither of which were very good. This place has a niche that it is very kid friendly. It has a nice play area cut out for the kids to play with a lot of wooden toys and entertainment. Our daughter is only 10 months old, and was too young to enjoy the toys with so many other older children around. They also have an impressive outdoor area out back with what looks like a little pizza oven and bar top. My totally unsolicited advice would be to improve the coffee, and reduce the noise as much as humanly possible. read more

I love how convenient it is being just down the street and the staff is always friendly. But the food itself is bland and soaked in grease. Their coffee tastes like dirt water and it's overly priced. This last time, my food was supposed to be done at 12:25 and I waited 15 minutes past that. I was also asked for my name 4 times by the same two people and was mistaken for someone else a few times as well. I wasn't notified my order was ready and no one called out my name. I would've waited who knows how long for my food if I didn't go back up to the counter to ask if it was ready. Safe to say I will not be recommending this place or going there any longer.
