You can always count on poached for a solid breakfast. Their drinks are excellent as well! I personally love their hash browns which have a Crisp exterior and fluffy interior. The breakfast burrito is a standout and you can't go wrong with waffles, pancakes, or their fried chicken. The line can get long but they recently transitioned into a check in system so you no longer have to wait outside. Service is also always fast and efficient
Since our flight home wasn't until the afternoon and we had to check out of our hotel by 11 AM, we decided to enjoy a leisurely breakfast here first. I'd found this restaurant on Yelp and convinced the others to join me in checking it out. It's a relaxed spot where you order at the register, receive a number, and then find your own seat. I usually feel rushed making menu choices when there's a line behind me, but this time, we were the only ones waiting, and the kids quickly decided on their breakfasts. Finding a table for four was effortless. The cashier was neutral--neither especially friendly nor rude, simply efficient at her job. My man really enjoyed his coffee, and I liked mine too, though I can't quite remember which kind of latte I ordered. We shared a Salmon Eggs Benedict--a perfect combination of poached egg, creamy hollandaise, and smoked lox. Delicious! My daughter ordered the kids' pancake with egg and bacon and said it was good. My partner's daughter opted for a huge breakfast burrito with chorizo--she liked it, but couldn't finish the generous portion. It was the perfect way to enjoy our final breakfast in Irvine.
My bf and I came at 10 on a Saturday and didn't have to wait long. Ordering was a bit chaotic though since you need to order before getting seated. We felt rushed to make a decision but appreciated that they at least controlled the line to ensure there was a seat ready before letting us in to order - just wish they made it more clear somewhere. Plenty of parking, decent service although busy, would be back to try more of their options. This time around we ordered: - Breakfast Burrito (4/5): huge portion for price, loved the flavors and how cheesy this was; wish the salsa did a better job at adding spice and cutting through the heaviness of the dish but the pico de Gallo in the burrito helped with that - Fried chicken sandwich (4/5): Pretty sizable and filling sandwich. Chicken is fried well and juicy. While there was slaw in the sandwich to add some extra tang it should have been complemented with a sauce to make it a little less dry. Got this with fruit on the side which helped balance out the sandwich.
+ The Huevos Rancheros was deeelectable. - However, portion size was small; - A lil exorbitant. This $19 meal left me famished still. - Their software teased a 20%-off offer before actually granting it. Maybe you can manage to redeem it in time for your 1st order. - Confusing online ordering platform. The Huevos Rancheros ingredient list includes hashbrowns. Turns out it's one of the side options, not readily included in the main entree. It seems that by choosing fruit, the hashbrowns were excluded from the meal. :/ . A bit crowded, both seating and parking. + Polite, efficient, helpful service. + Pleasant ambience. - Burrito was a bit bland and dry. Needed plenty sauce & drink to flush it down bite by bite. + Also crunchy and yummy though. I had: $17 breakfast burrito + $19 huevos rancheros + a whopping 12.75% tax&fees = $40.59
Wow! What beautiful plates of food and amazing taste. Came here for breakfast today and what a great experience. We ordered a cappuccino, salmon toast and lemon blueberry ricotta pancakes. The plates themselves are beautifully made. Vibrant colors and delicious flavors. Everything we saw being served looked amazing. The staff is super friendly and helpful. Food was served quickly and hot. Not one thing was wrong or missing. Everything very clean and super clean restrooms. Highly recommend this location. A highlight to our morning.
Had such a nice breakfast at Poached Kitchen in Irvine with my aunt! I ordered the fried green tomato BLTA with a side salad, and it was fantastic. Fair warning though -- I got a little too excited and bit into it too early, and it definitely burned my mouth, so give it a minute to cool down! Totally worth the wait. I chose the side salad because fries or fruit in the morning probably would have put me straight to sleep during my drive up to Palmdale for a client meeting, and it ended up being the perfect choice. My aunt ordered the breakfast burrito, and it was rightfully massive -- definitely a hearty breakfast. The service was quick and efficient. It's the kind of place where you order at the counter, get a number, and they bring the food to your table, which made everything easy. I can imagine they get really busy on weekends. Best part? I loved my sandwich so much that I happily ate the second half for lunch later. Definitely a spot I'd come back to!
Poached experience 8/26/26 around 1pm So we've been regulars at this restaurant for almost 5 years now. I've taken family friends and recommended also on my social media. The customer service here is like no where else I've been before. Gavin always greets us with a welcoming vibe. And the ladies that work the registers are always asking how we're doing and even get us a water bowl for our puppy. Now to the food experience dilemma we had today. We order the same food every time we go because we love it and continue to come back for it. I ordered the huevos rancheros which came out great as always. My wife we get her the filet steak wrap with no pico de gallo and peppers and onions on the side. My wife is allergic to onions, chives and scallions. If she eats ANY of these things I would have to drive her to the emergency room immediately as she would be swelling in the face and throat. When we got her steak wrap today it came with a sauce that had chives in it and the steak was overcooked and un seasoned. They took it back no problem and then re fired it up. Then the manager came out. He didn't say his name of course but just stated that he was the manager and apologized for the steak being overcooked. The second wrap the steak was cooked correct but we mentioned that my wife is allergic to raw chives and we see them both in the wrap and the sauce. When we told him this he basically said that's odd because it always been in the sauce. And I explained to him that again if that was true then my wife wouldn't be able to eat this because she would have an allergic reaction. This is something that should be taken very seriously. He took the wrap to be adjusted in the back. Then he comes back out and says we've cleared the wrap off your bill which I didn't ask for or need to happen and said "there's no onions at all in the wrap and I did check again with the chefs and confirmed that there has always been chives in the sauce." This felt like oh I'll take this off the bill to make you happy but the chives comment was so unneeded. Especially when my wife explained that she's very allergic. I will be surprised if I ever come back after how the manager treated my wife by basically pushing the "I'm right about the chives" narrative. The customer is supposed to come first and he basically called my wife a liar and walked away. We immediately grabbed a to go box because that is just not how I want to be treated when I just spent $62 before a 15% percent tip at a nice restaurant on our day off. I want to thank Gavin for still coming to our table after we were about to leave to check on us especially after that experience. I hope this doesn't happen to someone else who has a serious food allergy. Below is the only photo I got of my 3rd steak wrap with no sauce. I left as soon as I could after being treated poorly.
This is a great spot! We were welcomed right when we walked in. The place is nice and bright with big windows, high ceilings and open seating. You order your food and then find your seat. There were so many yummy sounding items that it was tough to decide what to order. I'm not a traditional pancake person but they had a tropical one that sounded amazing. And I really want to try their chicken sandwich and breakfast burritos. I ended up getting the churro waffles with a side of the mango that went on those tropical pancakes and it was so dang good! We also ordered Birria Short Rib Eggs Benedict - with perfectly flavored meat and the best poached eggs on top, a macadamia nut milk latte - loved it so much, and a delicious Bloody Mary. The service was great, the place is nice, neat, and clean throughout, and we can't wait to go back and try more of their menu!
We got there around 10 AM on Saturday and waited about 30 minutes to get a table. All the staff were friendly. You need to order at the register first, then they will assign you a table. I was happy to see they have a fun seasonal menu, like the mango French toast. I opted for something healthy and ordered the Asian salad with avocado. My group ordered the chilaquiles and the Benedicts. The food was delicious, and I enjoyed my mocha with oat milk. One note: we sat on their patio, and the fence was covered in spider webs. The tables are placed right next to it, so eating beside spider webs was very uncomfortable, to say the least. At one point, a spider even climbed onto my friend's pants. I hope management does better at cleaning their patio.
Need a place for breakfast in an infrequently travelled area. So onto Yelp and found this gem. Decent sized place, indoor & outdoor seating & busy. Always a good sign. Lotsa parking & wait wasn't too long - prob helped we weren't picky about seating location. Name called, in line to order and told where to sit. Surprisingly food came quickly despite the large numbers of diners. For me the Mango Curd French Toast. 2 slices of Texas toast, well battered & smothered in mango curd sauce & fresh fruit accompanied with maple syrup. Excellent taste. For my companion the Short Rib Omelet - onion, peppers, mushrooms & tomatoes mixed with the rib and gravy. Meat was tender, but lacking salt it was still delicious. Huge recommendation for this one!
The system here is a little unconventional. You have to order before you sit down. Since it was my first visit and I hadn't seen the menu yet, I felt a bit rushed. That said, the food definitely beats the competition. We got the Birria Benedict and the breakfast burrito, and both were great. The Birria was a little on the salty side, but that didn't stop me. Also, the latte was fantastic. It's worth the stop, just do yourself a favor and look at the menu before they let you in the building!
This place is always packed on weekend mornings--there's almost always a line. We were lucky to grab a corner bar seat after about a 15-minute wait. I ordered the Chicken and Waffles, and both came out perfectly crispy. Not many spots manage to get waffles truly crunchy, so that was a big plus. I chose the cinnamon sugar waffle thinking the flavor would be baked into the waffle itself, but it actually came from the butter, which felt a little odd--basically an extra dollar just for flavored butter. Was happy that they have Lavender Latte. It was delicious. Overall the experience was nice. The space is modern and roomy, and I like the setup where you order at the counter and they bring the food to you--definitely my kind of spot.
I got their short rib omelette and it was pretty good! I'm usually very particular about omelette because many that I have tried they put too much oil and the egg becomes hard and greasy. However, their omelette was very soft and fluffy. The short rib inside was also very tender. I would definitely come back for this dish. The hash browns was ok. A bit plain but they have salt on the side for you to add. The service was fast. Waited about 10 min. Getting a seat took a bit longer, maybe 30 min. The inside was pretty casual. There's seats inside and outside. Parking was easy to find since it's at a big plaza.
Drove extra mile to have brunch here and it was worth it. This is cool restaurant, easy to find, accessible and clean. The inside looks fresh and inviting. They have many tables inside but also offer outside seating. I didn't have to wait long to be seated even though the restaurant was still busy. I arrived an hour before 2pm closing time so I guess this helped with getting table sooner. I do like their menu. Few items for each category that helps make a quick choice of food. Good hearty ingredients for each item. I am a big fun of egg Benedict so that was obvious choice for my brunch. I ordered Chile Verde Benedict muffin, chile verde, poached egg, Beelers pork, serrano aioli, cilantro, hollandaise, paprika. I got side of salad with it. The dish was delicious, fresh ingredients and flavoursome. Eggs were perfectly poached. Highly recommended! read more

Hype lived up to! After braving the line at Poached kitchen (I came around 11am on a Sunday), I strayed away from my usual pancakes and hash browns and tried the Salmon Toast. Think: crunchy sourdough, luscious cream cheese, melt-in-your-mouth lox, and a sprinkle of dill and red onion. This toast is a must try for Lox bagel lovers. Satisfying, but larger appetites might crave more (sides recommended!). The atmosphere was an immersion in comfort, indulgence, and familiarity. I wanted to grab some breakfast before I headed to the airport. I did a quick Yelp search of breakfast spots nearest to my hotel, and Poached was first on the list. It was a cute restaurant, and I loved the concept of it. Quick and easy breakfast, but it's not your typical fast food or diner style food. The breakfast food was legit like you'd find at a "fancier" brunch restaurant. I ordered the chilaquiles rojos and an iced vanilla latte for the road. They came out so quickly! I waited no longer than 5 minutes. I arrived on a Thursday around when they opened, so maybe it helped that I was one of the first few customers. I loved everything about my dish. The side of black beans was flavorful and comforting. They used quality chips that also retained their crunch even after being smothered in rojos. Speaking of the rojos, the sauce was the highlight. Nice spices and had the right amount of heat to it. The onlt thing that was a miss for me was that I asked for an over medium egg because I didn't want the yolk to be runny, but I received an over easy egg instead. Fast, casual, and excellent breakfast. This place is really good and always has a line. I like how fast everything is since you order and pay first, then the servers find you an l table. We ordered the Chile verde benedict which was great - tender pork, a delicious mix of hollandaise and Serrano aioli on a English muffin. The Chicken and waffles were also done well! Usually deep fried chicken breast are too dry and tough but they cooked these just right. Came out crisp with a light crunch, and really juicy. The process to order was fairly simple. You just walk up, order from the menu, pay, and bring your number to the table you want to sit at. The service was good, but the food wasn't that great. Morning scramble: (3/5) -- I thought this was rather bland, but it was a typical breakfasty meal so if you're looking for "normal" brunch food, this was alright! Short rib Benedict: (3.5/5) -- this was better than the morning scramble, but while it was supposed to be Korean short ribs, it didn't really have the typical Korean flavor. Giving this is a 3.5 stars because my husband liked the salmon Benedict. I personally did not like the classic breakfast. Eggs had no flavor, hash browns tasted too starchy, and the chicken sausage was just okay. I got a chai latte and it tasted like licorice? I could barely finish it. This place is marvelous! We came with our dog and they were quick to wipe down the tables outside. The workers are kind and work quickly. We ordered the huevos rancheros and chilaquiles rojos (which also comes with a side of beans). The food came out promptly. It was our first time trying a Mexican breakfast dish. Anything you choose here will fulfill your palate. Food: 5 stars - chicken & waffles, they have improved and perfected the best tasting waffles I've ever had. Crispy outside and chewy in the inside, almost like a perfect yummy cookie. Just lovely! I'm a big fan of their waffles. - pork chop, perfectly cooked and seasoned. The chipotle sauce on the side was a nice touch to the dish. Coffee: 5 stars - dulce de leche coffee was just the right amount of sweetness and perfectly taste - regular coffee was good Service: 5 stars - wait line was fast, about 30 mins or less on a Sun at 11am and the service was great. Excellent food!!! Was craving a refreshing and savory breakfast which is what led me to poached. Their menu is full of dishes that you can't get anywhere else. Very original flavors and great presentation. Today, I got the breakfast tacos which I was a little hesitant about, but it exceeded my expectations. Think of it like an omelette wrapped in a high quality tortilla and excellent garnishes. It was amazing. 2 tacos definitely filled me up! We only ordered the kids breakfast pancake because we only wanted one pancake instead of the large portion menu items. Even without the speciality flavors, the pancake itself was delicious. I recommend visiting during the weekday since there's usually a line on the weekends. read more

We were up early and in Irvine over the weekend so we decided to find a suitable brunch spot that was open before 9 am. Up popped Poached Kitchen with a very detailed menu. They source locally for non-gmo, organic ingredients whenever possible. We made our way over and walked in to order at the register. We opted to share the short rib eggs benedict. We were asked if it was okay that it came with hash browns and we said it was fine. Apparently, you can opt for a side salad but who wants a salad so early in the morning? I ordered an orange juice and a glass of water. They give you numbers and the servers bring the food to you. The seating is open so you can choose to sit on the patio or inside. Since it was a bit chilly, we opted for inside but they had space heaters on the patio. The drinks arrived first and my orange juice tasted like it was fresh squeezed. The short rib benedict came out shortly after and it was beautiful. The hash browns were a thicker shred and crispy. The ketchup tasted housemade. The short rib was braised and shredded. The poached eggs were a tad overdone but there was still some oozy yolk. It was the perfect amount to share since we weren't starving but hungry enough to devour. If I ordered it on my own, I think I would have had leftovers. The food was good and while pricey, you're paying for quality ingredients. I'd definitely come back. This is a small casual brunch spot in Irvine with both indoor and outdoor seating (dog friendly!). You seat yourself after you place your order at the counter. Service was good, they check on you to see if you need anything pretty frequently and the food/coffee come out pretty fast. Food was just ok. I ordered the chicken and waffles and was expecting the thin crispy waffles I saw in most of the pics. When they came out, the waffles are more similar to the thick waffles you can make at a hotel breakfast. The flavor is the same also. Chicken tasted like a standard chicken tender, but the gravy it comes with is pretty good. Has a nice rosemary and butter flavor to it. The coffee here is good too. Vanilla latte with oat milk is not too sweet. I'd come back again but probably try a different dish. read more

I've been wanting to try Poached Kitchen for a while. We came on a weekday and there wasn't much of a wait. You order first at the counter, they give you a number afterwards, and you seat yourself at any of the tables. -- Omelet A La Grecque [4/5]: The inside of the omelet had spinach, mushrooms, feta, and green onions. The dill on the top was a little overpowering. It came with french fries and multi-grain toast. -- Classic Waffle [5/5]: This was the star of the show. I came specifically for their classic waffle. The waffle was topped with powdered sugar, vanilla whip, and fresh berries. Topping it off with a side of maple syrup to your liking. The vanilla whip and maple syrup was so goooood together. -- Chile Verde Benedict [4/5]: The benedict had two muffins topped with chile verde, poached egg, Beeler's pork, serrano aioli, cilantro, hollandaise, and paprika. The hashbrowns on the side were really good with the ketchup and green chile habanero sauce. The outside of the hashbrowns was crispy and the inside had a perfect texture that wasn't too soft. I didn't really enjoy the taste of the pork on the benedict and had to add a lot of the green chile habanero sauce to it to fully enjoy the benedict. I definitely recommend the classic waffle and giving it a try when you visit this place! read more

If you ever come to this place, you need to get the Chilaquiles Verde. When my girlfriend asked what it was, I told her that it's basically a breakfast nacho. How can you go wrong with a breakfast nacho? It was definitely the highlight of our brunch. We also got the Baked Apple Cakes. The first couple bites were AMAZING, but after a while, my taste buds needed a break from the intense flavors so I had to go back to the Chilaquiles. We got there around 11am, and while the line to get in looked long, it moved pretty quickly so we were seated by about 11:30am. We also decided to sit outside and enjoy the breeze and we were kept warm by the many heat lamps they had. Hopefully I'll be back to try out the rest of their menu, which I'm sure is just as delicious as the food we tried. read more

Considering that I am not a breakfast lover, this place was a nice surprise to find (thanks to Yelp). The food (french toast, eggs/hashbrown with all the fixings) were delicious. The service was good and fast. They have plenty of outdoor seating which is perfect for the time and age of covid. The latte was delicious and HOT, just the way I like it. In short, everything was great and considering that they have an extensive brunch menu, I will be visiting them soon enough to try some of their other dishes! read more

Another new place I was really looking forward to trying. I had the Chicken Sandwich, and I was two for two this week with not having good Chicken Sandwiches, as this one was quite bland. I ended up eating it off the bun after my first few bites. It just was underwhelming to be honest. My friend ordered the Chile Verde Fries and they looked and smelled amazing. We went at 11am and it was quite packed, and quite loud. The soda seemed to be in old school coke bottles, so they didnt have diet, and I got a water which they bring to your table. I did not ever get a refill, so most of my meal I did not have a drink. It was quite expensive as well for a basic sandwich that was bland. read more

I had been meaning to check out the original Downey location for years but never got around to it, when I found out they had opened up this location in Irvine. I came with my friend for brunch and had a fairly good time. They're a order/pay first at the register type of situation which was interesting for a non-fast food spot. Anyways, our food came out fairly quickly. I had ordered the churro waffle and a dulce de leche latte and I enjoyed both. I also ordered a breakfast burrito to go and it wasn't the best but no real complaints. All in all, I probably wouldn't go out of my way to brunch here but if I'm in the area and in the mood for brunch food, then I'd come back. read more
Good but not life changing. There was quite the line on Memorial Day but it moved quickly. Kudos to the staff for running a tight operation. Ordering and payment took place at a counter but the food was quickly brought to our table and servers also took care of drink refills. Front of house was friendly. The menu had variety without being overwhelming. I was craving something sweet from their "Off the Griddle" category. After much ruminating, I opted for the seasonal ube pancakes with ube puree, cajeta, and coconut flakes. Not sure about the micro greens topping but it was well executed and yummy--though not life changing. My friends seemed to enjoy their dishes (chile verde benny and fried chicken sandwich). Typically, eggs Benedict aren't my first choice for breakfast food, but this was not any eggs benny. This was a Korean short rib benny, and it absolutely differentiated itself from other styles. The short rib was tender and juicy with a kick that was very flavorful! I was blown away by it! The only part of this meal that I was iffy on was the hash browns. The outside was a little crispy, but other than that, it was very soft. I typically love crunchy and crispy hash browns so it may just be a personal thing. Poached pear and fig French toast exceeded our expectations! Not soggy, the bread was perfectly crunchy, the whipped ricotta cream(?) was amazing - not overwhelmingly sweet! 8/10 The Korean short rib Benedict was a loss for me. Initially it's salty, then gets way too sweet. The flavor was just not good at all - couldn't even eat half of it. The meat was absolutely DRENCHED in the gochujang (?) sauce and was not good. Very disappointed it did not do Korean food justice. 3/10 read more

I recommend getting there prior to the 9am crowd and the line will be none or shorter. My daughter and I have visited the establishments twice over the course of 6 months. We come here whenever she wants waffles. This time, we decided to try their yogurt bowl. It was full of fresh fruits and yogurt. It came with a side of honey so we could adjust the sweetness of the Greek yogurt. Friendly staff and there are outdoor seating. Great place for a traditional breakfast. read more

Wonderful first time experience at Poached Kitchen! Although it was a Friday morning, we were seated pretty quickly! Service was fast and very amicable. Everything looked so good, but I opted for the Eggs Benedict and hash browns! My goodness were they delicious! Next time, I'll ask for the hash browns to be a little more cooked, as they were more on the mushy side for my taste, but I still enjoyed them. The pancakes were absolute perfection! They were fluffy and so flavorful with the blueberry lemon ricotta toppings lol. Overall, lovely experience with a friendly ambience and savory food. I'll definitely be back to try more things on the menu! read more

Service, most of the food, coffee, were all great. Nice fluffy pancakes, French toast was a little soggy in the middle, waffles were perfect, avocado toast was hearty and good. They also didn't skimp on the fresh fruit. read more

First time coming to this breakfast spot and so glad we stopped. Once you arrive, you see the menu right above you and order the food right from the cashier. If you've been to Sizzler before, kinda follow that style. You get a number then proceed to self seating. Service on an early Saturday morning was soooo quick. We got our drinks within 5 minutes of sitting and food came out within 10-15 minutes of sitting. We got the classic eggs Benedict and the Korean short rib Benedict. Both came with a side of hash browns. Both Benedict had really good flavor, egg was poached perfectly, and the meat was flavored well. We also shared a waffle on the side. The classic waffle came with whipped cream, and fresh blueberries/strawberries. Other waffle flavor options were chocolate and cherro. Drinks were refilled as soon as the cup was empty and staff was right on point. Would come back again! read more

I am into breakfast spots and this one caught my eye while researching a few spots. Went with the chilaquiles rojos. It had good flavor but felt something was missing, but overall satisfied my taste bud. Also, tried their hot cakes. I would say I probably would pass on it next time. It is good breakfast spot and worth trying. Unfortunately, I had high expectations for the spot, which may lead me to go elsewhere next time in town, but will keep in mind incase I want to come back to try a different item. Can I make a reservation for 3 today online the minimum of people is 6?
Goodmorning unfortunately our reservations platform is for large parties 6 or more at the moment.
How is parking? Is there parking at the location? is there a fee to park? also, since you dont take reservations how would you fit a party of 20? i tried calling and emailing but still no answer after 3 emails.
Parking is very good, I had no problem parking on a very busy day. There is no fee for parking. Could fit 20, placing several tables together. I am sure the restaurant manager would accommodate if asked early on. The food (breakfast) is outstanding!

No, they sadly do not have GF items like that. I just inquired over the phone.
What vegan options do you offer? I see "v"next to the "omelet greque". Is it made with a vegan egg substitute?
The "V" (menu above cashier in store has a "VG") is for vegetarian options, not vegan.
Are dogs allowed if they have outside dining?
Yes I believe you can keep your dog outside since you pick your own seating
Do we need to do a reservation?
No this place is pretty casual. First come first serve after you order at the counter they will gave you a number and from there you can grab a table if available.
