I visited on a Monday where there wasn't a line and we were able to order immediately. Staff were very friendly and helpful. By their website they source local and organic ingredients which is a big plus. I had the Benedict which was flavorful but the hollandaise was little more tart than I'm used to, however it was good. Coffee was delicious and fresh and my wife had the huevos rancheros which was really delicious, I would definitely recommend that dish for a first choice. The hot chocolate was only a little too light, tasted more milk or water than chocolate, maybe a darker chocolate or more chocolate would've been good, but overall the food was good. The potatoes were fresh and delicious as well. Outside seating is very comfortable and spacious, but when it is busy it may be a long wait. The prices are a little higher than your normal restaurant, but they seem to be sourcing fresh and local ingredients with no nitrates or GMOs and you can really tell the difference. Prices are only slightly more than your standard restaurant breakfast, which at other restaurants are almost always sourced from a low quality trillion dollar mega corporation food supplier. I was really excited for this business to open in Whittier as I have been to the location in Downey. First, they did a horrible job in the placement of the front door. It is on the street side and VERY difficult to get to. They should have made the entrance on the parking lot side and made the to go orders on the street side instead. The coffee is good, not too sweet. I had the lavender latte and my hubby had a regular coffee. The food was superb (french toast). My hubby had the French toast and I had the chilaquilles rojo (vegan). I tried his French toast and DAYUM! So damn good. It literally melted on my mouth. The chilaquilles were good, but I have had better. I also had the breakfast burrito to go and it was good. I have also had the granola with fruit. I love the decor with an ode to Whittier and it's local HS (La Serna and Cal). What I am not happy about is the price. Expect to pay! Foods are stand alone. Nothing comes with the pancakes or French toast. The burrito was so pricey and the size did not justify it at all. The coffee was also extremely high, for smaller sizes cup. I highly recommend getting a dulce de leche latte or peppermint latte if you come here!! The lattes by the barista there are always so cute and there's quite a few different designs I've received on my lattes. I make sure to get one every time I'm here and it's just such a nice, smooth and warm, homey feeling when I drink it (I get it less sweet per my preference). So I've been to the Downey location years ago and loved it, so did go in with pretty high expectations. Unfortunately this location fell a bit short. First the layout is very odd. Parking and doors are in the back but they put the main entrance in the front which makes for an odd flow/walk around. Could also see how this is a concern for ADA as handicap parking is literally the furthest spot in the lot from the entrance. Food is order at the counter up front then sit down with a number. Not ideal but also not a deal breaker for us. Prices are STEEP, and I mean extremely expensive. For 2 meals (chilaquiles & egg sandwich) and 2 coffees we were around $50 plus tip. For this style quick service restaurant set up, I can't justify that price range and unfortunately the food quality itself didn't justify it either. Coffee was simple but very good. Chilaquiles use chips (not tortillas) but salsa was flavorful and over all good. Feels like it needs a protein in addition to the egg. Overall good but pretty basic/average. The beans were odd. Black beans in a cup and very watery/soupy. The egg sandwich was not great. The bread was good but the eggs tasted extremely buttery and the chipotle on it just didn't mesh well with the sandwich. I took 2 bites and unfortunately didn't finish any more. The potato's were basic but not bad. Overall just not impressed in terms of the food, ambiance, service structure, pricing or layout. read more

There was confusion, however, because it was unclear that customer has to order first. A simple 'order here' sign would solve that problem.
