My friend ordered the short rib and was disappointed because the meat was shredded. Not sure if it's described that way on menu. I finding that most restaurants now that offer home fries give a prepped frozen version rather than a fresh peeled or skin on potato with bell peppers and onions. Poached does this too so potatoes not fresh. I'll try the hash browns next time. I had the greek omlette. I did like that. My sour dough was not pre-buttered. I didn't mind. I didn't ask server for butter. My other friend ordered the chicken sandwich she only mentioned the fries were good, but she didn't finish her sandwich. I ordered a dulce de leche coffee hot. That was good not too hot so I didn't have to wait for it yo cool down to sip. Last note the women's restroom did not have a bin in the stall for used feminine hygiene products. I highly recommend getting a dulce de leche latte or peppermint latte if you come here!! The lattes by the barista there are always so cute and there's quite a few different designs I've received on my lattes. I make sure to get one every time I'm here and it's just such a nice, smooth and warm, homey feeling when I drink it (I get it less sweet per my preference). What makes the whole experience even better is the staff is so welcoming and always willing to help. So I've been to the Downey location years ago and loved it, so did go in with pretty high expectations. Unfortunately this location fell a bit short. First the layout is very odd. Parking and doors are in the back but they put the main entrance in the front which makes for an odd flow/walk around. Could also see how this is a concern for ADA as handicap parking is literally the furthest spot in the lot from the entrance. Food is order at the counter up front then sit down with a number. Not ideal but also not a deal breaker for us. Prices are STEEP, and I mean extremely expensive. For 2 meals (chilaquiles & egg sandwich) and 2 coffees we were around $50 plus tip. For this style quick service restaurant set up, I can't justify that price range and unfortunately the food quality itself didn't justify it either. Coffee was simple but very good. Chilaquiles use chips (not tortillas) but salsa was flavorful and over all good. Feels like it needs a protein in addition to the egg. Overall good but pretty basic/average. The beans were odd. Black beans in a cup and very watery/soupy. The egg sandwich was not great. The bread was good but the eggs tasted extremely buttery and the chipotle on it just didn't mesh well with the sandwich. I took 2 bites and unfortunately didn't finish any more. The potato's were basic but not bad. Overall just not impressed in terms of the food, ambiance, service structure, pricing or layout. read more

It was okay but I wouldn't go out of my way to go here. I just think the seating situation is kind of awkward. We wanted to move seats because our table was right where the wind was blowing through the open door and she said she already assigned the seats even though it's just numbers at empty tables. We got moved only because there was an empty space at the bar stools but if not we were basically going to have to be forced to sit somewhere we weren't comfortable. This restaurant just recently opened up within walking distance from my home. Excited, I visited yesterday with my daughter during the downpour. We waiting for only a few minutes and asked to be seated at counter. When you walk in, you are directed to the cashier area to place your order then you sit down and wait. The restaurant floors and counter had an egg smell which makes me nauseous, maybe because of all the rain? Nonetheless, clean with dissenfected rags/mops maybe add bleach. The smell will go away. The restaurant is nice looking, great setup for a small/long space. Now, let's talk about the food. My daughter ordered regular pancakes and a hot chocolate. The pancakes had no taste, no matter how much syrup she put on them. How do you mess up pancakes? We returned them and the lady at the counter just took them and said nothing when it was obvious she only took a few bites. I had to actually say to the lady, please ask your manager to refund the pancakes. By the way for two meals with coffee it was almost $70.00. So, this place is not cheap! I ordered the chile verde eggs benedict with hash browns. The chile verde was cold upon arrival but the taste was good. I suspect the benedictd were waiting for the hashbrowns then got cold. I considered returning them but didn't want to wait for a new batch. Now, the hash browns... yuck, they tasted like old oil. How are you cooking these? They tasted horrible, I put tons of ketchup and that still didn't help. I might come back to taste more of their menu but for now I was disappointed.
