This restaurant just recently opened up within walking distance from my home. Excited, I visited yesterday with my daughter during the downpour. We waiting for only a few minutes and asked to be seated at counter. When you walk in, you are directed to the cashier area to place your order then you sit down and wait. The restaurant floors and counter had an egg smell which makes me nauseous, maybe because of all the rain? Nonetheless, clean with dissenfected rags/mops maybe add bleach. The smell will go away. The restaurant is nice looking, great setup for a small/long space. Now, let's talk about the food. My daughter ordered regular pancakes and a hot chocolate. The pancakes had no taste, no matter how much syrup she put on them. How do you mess up pancakes? We returned them and the lady at the counter just took them and said nothing when it was obvious she only took a few bites. I had to actually say to the lady, please ask your manager to refund the pancakes. By the way for two meals with coffee it was almost $70.00. So, this place is not cheap! I ordered the chile verde eggs benedict with hash browns. The chile verde was cold upon arrival but the taste was good. I suspect the benedictd were waiting for the hashbrowns then got cold. I considered returning them but didn't want to wait for a new batch. Now, the hash browns... yuck, they tasted like old oil. How are you cooking these? They tasted horrible, I put tons of ketchup and that still didn't help. I might come back to taste more of their menu but for now I was disappointed. Atmosphere and staff were really good and I have no complaints. The side of bacon wasn't crispy but rather it was rubbery and chewy. I asked for a refill of my decaf coffee and discovered they don't give refills of decaf!! They only give refills of regular. The meal was pricey and I guess I expected the food quality to be a bit better. read more

Amazing, the quality and taste is one of my best experiences in a long time. As a Whittier local that grew up here they seem to bring that family experience that we been missing as the food is fresh and feels as if you made it in your own home while the vibe of the place is up beat and hip. I had the seasonal brunch burrito, my wife had the chilaquiles with pork protein on top and let me say as a Mexican growing up only enjoying my own mother cooking, this definitely came close that's how good it was. 100 recommend coming and trying it because I'll be back to try the rest of the menu. read more

I've been wanting to try this place since they've opened and had a chance to order pick up today. Unfortunately there were problems with my online order and they never received it. When I arrived I found out it did not go through but the staff were so helpful. They immediately apologized and accepted my take out order even though they had closed by this point. They took really good care of me and I was so grateful they went above the expected to help me when they really did not have to. I ordered the chili verde Benedict and it was amazing! Such a pleasant breakfast experience! I've visited Poached on several different occasions now and from the moment I walk in to the time I leave, all of the staff is so friendly and welcoming! Whoever was working the cashier stand at 10:30am today (March 5th) totally took advantage of my grandmother paying the bill. Obviously my grandmother doesn't do too well with new technology but before I knew it the cashier selected "okay" herself after my grandma provided her signature on the iPad approving a 18% tip for herself. She didn't provide us with a receipt but by the look on her face she knows what she did was wrong. I just hope in the future they know better to not take advantage of an elderly person. read more

Food was great and service was good when it came to the food. When we entered the place, we were a little caught off guard with how loud the inside of the restaurant was, but fortunately we found seating outside since we had our baby with us. Originally, I would have given this place 4 stars but I do have to knock two for a bit of inconvenience. When I approached a server to ask if they had a baby changing station, I was informed they didn't. This won't apply to everyone, and I understand that, but as someone who goes out to eat with family and my baby, I did find this to be inconvenient. I don't know if places like this are suppose to have baby changing stations by law but we felt surprised they lacked a baby changing station, especially since this place is so new. Hoping for this addition in the future, because we would love to try this place again without worrying where we are going to change our baby. read more

The new location is stunning, they really designed the space beautifully. The vibes are so warm and welcoming, and the staff couldn't be lovelier. Everyone is so caring and attentive, and the service is top-notch. Every single thing on the menu is delicious, everything tastes so fresh, and you actually feel good after eating here. Well poached has never disappointed me and this happened again today. Food was excellent!! came out looking great and most importantly tasted sooo good!! You can tell they use fresh and clean ingredients which for me is a plus. I like to eat clean and poached is known for that. We order Steak and eggs which was cooked to perfection we got it with hashbrowns and poached eggs our eggs where cooked perfectly the hashbrowns was excellent . We also ordered the seasonal pear French toast Delicious !!! Service was amazing everyone was helpful and very attentive. I was excited to try the new restaurant in the area but it was a bit disappointing. First there were a few flies that kept flying over the food and during the middle of eating it landed on my food. Second, since we have to pay ahead of time waiters never took the time to check on us.
