It was a cold day so the fishcake soup really hit the spot. The food tasted good but it was kind of strange that they don't give any rice with their dishes. We ordered pork belly and army stew and neither of them came with rice. This place has a service button so that was convenient. We went at 8PM and it has a basic Korean bar atmosphere. We go there at 1pm. Table was very sticky, and smelled like it was cleaned with an old damp rag. No soap in the bathrooms and there was so many flies buzzing around my table. Okaaaay Pocha K! I get why this is the place to BE! My friends and I were looking for a fun space to grab dinner so Pocha K it was. On a Thursday evening, there was plenty of space in the restaurant and parking lot. Once our group of 6 got there, we were seated pretty quickly. There's actually a ton of seating in the restaurant and it looks like it's prepared for having big groups all the time. It's definitely more of a "hang out with friends" vibe rather than a family sit down or date vibe. The KPOP music, instagrammable walls and lights, and music videos on TV give it more of a party ambiance than a fancy night out. But hey, we were looking for somewhere fun so this was the perfect spot for us. The food was good and the star of the show for me was their fried chicken. We got both the boneless chicken and the spicy garlic boneless chicken. Both excellent choices, though I loved the spicy garlic sauce. It's not very spicy so I would encourage those who might have a lower spice tolerance to still try it as it's pretty good! We also got the kim chi & pork fried rice, corn cheese, and pocha fries. The fried rice and corn cheese were good (corn cheese leans on the sweeter side) and the pocha fries were fun with the hot cheetos on top. As a group we also enjoyed the pocha soju bomb tower and a couple of soju cocktails so all in all, it was a great night! I'd definitely recommend coming here if you're looking for a great spot to catch up with friends. The bulgogi meat was sweet and chewy. The Corn Cheese was slightly sweet and savory because of the cheese. If you don't like your corn cheese sweet, might want to skip ordering this dish. The Japchae was good; it had more veggies than noodles. The Kimchi Fried Rice wasn't spicy or overly seasoned, the rice was good. The Pork Belly was slightly crispy and cut into small bite sized pieces on a sizzling platter. The Rapokki was so saucy and spicy! If you like these two combos, this may be your favorite dish! The Spicy Boneless Chicken was super crunchy and came with a side of daikon. The Spicy Pork was seasoned well and the portion was big. If you're looking for authentic Korean dishes served with banchan, Poncha K isn't it. We ordered the spicy pork and seafood tofu soup. Both tasted fine but for the price and what you get, I was disappointed that we didn't at least get rice included. This is not a trad korean restaurant, but instead a hip place to eat and drink with friends. It was like korean club food. I could see the draw for the younger crowd but for us, we'd rather dine at an authentic korean establishment that focused more banchan and authentic cuisine than loud music and alcoholic drinks. They passed the vibe check since they were enjoying drinks and foods right next to our table. Split one order of tteokbokki, one order of kimchi fried rice, and two orders of half/half boneless chicken/spicy garlic chicken between 5 people. None of us were entirely full and paid about $20 each. We were a little disappointed at how small the portions were for the price, as we expected to be full if we were going to be paying $20 each for a meal. However, the food itself was tasty for the most part.The tteokbokki was the perfect chewy texture in a mildly spicy and sweet sauce. The kimchi fried rice was also good, definitely not worth $14 for how little there is and you could definitely make this dish at home! The chicken was the highlight. The boneless chicken was fried to perfection and so juicy and tender. I found that the sauce for the spicy garlic boneless chicken was way too sweet and lacked spice. We had to ask for extra spicy sauce on the side. The servers were friendly and came out fast to serve us most of the time, despite it being busy. Spicy Garlic Boneless Chicken / 양념 순살치킨 $22 (4/5) This was surprisingly good! It was a good amount of chicken. The chicken was dark meat and juicy. The batter was thin and well flavored. I loved the sweetness to it, which melded well with the juicy chicken. I didn't taste much spiciness if any with this dish though. Army Stew / 부대찌개 21 (4/5) The size of this is smaller than most army stews that you get which are made for 3+ people. This army stew was perfect to share between two people and allowed room to try other items. The spice level was just right and I like the flavor and thickness of the soup. I had a really fun time here at pocha k. We had a large group of maybe 10-12 people and they served us promptly with not many issues. We ordered a HUGE variety of dishes from Korean fried rice, bulgogi, gizzard, beer towers, ramen with teokbokki, corn cheese, etc. Honestly everything tasted great. This was one of those nights where we just indulged so I didn't get to see how expensive the dishes were haha.
