The other reviews were spot on about how much the owners/staff care about and watch out for their (unaccompanied) female patrons of any age. The atmosphere at the bar was inviting and the B.L.T.A. sandwich was the best I ever had. Although the drink I ordered was surprisingly large, the main flavor I tasted was orange juice. These guys are great. Rolled thru town on a sunday night. Unfortunately they had 7' league AND a 9' 9 ball tourney going at the same time! So I had to wait a lil while for a table. However, the manager/bar staff & regulars were very friendly & hilarious. The diamond tables are all in pretty good condition. Practiced 14.1 for a few hrs, had a few beers, & a great time! I never tried the food, but I have been coming here for a couple years and really enjoy the atmosphere and the tables. Occasionally you won't find parking which means the bar is over crowded and all the tables are taken but there's an outside porch you can hang out on while you wait. read more

My 15 year old wanted to play pool for his birthday. I was able to reserve 3 tables for him and his friends. All the employees were very accommodating and very helpful and friendly. It was a clean, spacey, family friendly atmosphere. Food was great! Wait service was awesome. The head cook came out personally several times to make sure we had everything we ordered and to make sure it was made to our satisfaction. The kids had a great time - enjoyed the "non-kid" party, the parents even had a great time! Prices were very reasonable and the owners were helpful with providing us with a generous discount for our unconventional birthday party. My son can't wait to be able to have another fun night with friends there. I highly recommend this establishment and we will definitely be returning for the good food, cold beers and fun! read more

My husband and I showed up to play in a Father's Day pool tournament at the correct time for sign up (2pm). I was told this a week prior by the manager that it was 2pm. When we arrived the bartender said you can't sign up till 4. So we waited. 4 came around went to sign up. One of the first people in line and they were full. Lack of communication from the bartender and the woman running the tournament is ridiculous. Don't come here if your looking to have fun and shoot pool in a tournament. If this is BCA sanctioned. The addition of Kasey, a trained chef with very good taste has brought an element of excellence to their menu and food presentation. The big bonus for Pockets is that their staff complements these additions perfectly making it a very fun, pleasant and tasty experience. Here EVERY Tuesday night shooting pool with the guys. Always fun place to drink, grab a bite, play cheap pool. I love the indoor comfort and open atmosphere. The jukebox is always rockin' and when it's playing crap I'll just take over with the iPhone app. They have great monthly specials and do a decent job on their food, although it is on the pricier side, being a pool hall/bar and all. Wish they didn't allow e-cigs in the place, although when the smell or smoke starts bugging you and the other parties don't cease when requested, the management is nice enough to step in. Try it out! I really don't think there's a negative thing to say about Pocket's....well the parking is a little ghetto but easily overlooked. I can remember playing here when I was in High School and learning how to play (back in 1999) and before that it was Troy's Billiards. Lenny and the group are fantastic, take care of their tables and their customers. It's cheap, has good food and good drinks and you won't find a bunch of stupid kids ruining the tables (I'm looking at YOU Main Street which is thankfully closed). Pockets has some great employees, good food, and quality pool tables, but something I've noticed really bothers me. They have juke box music, and quite often if a pleasant classic rock song comes on, the bartender will boot the song. If an obnoxious rap "song" comes on, then they'll be happy with it. Their juke box is up to $1 per song on many songs. A minority of songs might be only 50 cents. Either way, if I've paid to hear a song, you don't just knock it off on a whim. I was immediately greeted by a friendly bartender who got my drink order and my drink to me very quickly! The drink specials were pretty good, $2 wells on Tuesday nights and they have different specials every day of the week. The place was full of people of different ages, the music was lively, but not overpowering. The staff is very prompt and polite. I also had their chicken wings! I walked in to play billiards on Wednesday night, ladies play free then(to my surprise) and it's $5 an hour for me on the hourly tables, played for almost 2 hours till closing, clean place and more rockish style of music. There is an outside smoker enclosed area and the got Dos XX Lager on tap and pitchers. I noticed some food was available but I didn't order any. This place is a smooth and less ghetto place compared to Famous Sams. 5 stars because it is worth going to again a third time! read more

I have been a regular in the Tucson pool & billiard scene since 1964. I have nothing but great things to say about the Pocket's establishment. Pocket's owner, Curtis Johnson, has taken the tables and equipment to the ultimate level with all state-of-the-art Diamond tables, ten full size 4.5x9 and seven 3.5x7. During the pandemic, the entire interior was upgraded and painted. Recently the entire exterior has been painted too. Pocket's food menu has been upgraded to include the popular Chicken BLT, the Ultimate Grilled Cheese (add steak and egg - Yowza), Nachos, numerous burgers and terrific salads. All of the Pocket's staff are welcoming, helpful and attentive. Pocket's has numerous leagues at all skill levels plus folks who give lessons, if you are so interested. I'm from out of town and was really looking forward to playing there. Got there about 3:30 and was informed that between league play and the tourney I couldn't get a table. They advertise a 5pm tourney but couldn't enter it. Why? Because you have to have a Fargo rating. (I don't but I'm a skill level 5 APA player). So I left without playing at all. I asked about when to come back and was told don't bother coming anytime anyday past 4pm as all tables are in use for league play - come at opening time for best luck. Look, they're free to run their pool hall anyway they want but if you're gonna advertise a Sunday tourney please provide the caveat of 'Fargo-rated players only'. And make it clear "don't bother coming here past 4pm if you intend to play pool!" So basically if you work for a living and can't play until after work Pockets is a no-go. Equipment looked great though!...woulda been nice! read more
