I have to update my review, i love poke bros and eat here at least once per week however the experience is very inconsistent and dependent upon who is there at the time. For example no matter what bowl I get I always get a spicy Kano Salad to go with it but it's always different. Once I went and they didn't mix and just threw all the ingredients in the bowl another time they isn't add any Siracha they only added the siracha aioli. I understand things change but what I want is what I get to be consistent so every time the it tastes the same and is what I like and that has not been my experience at poke bros. I will continue to eat here however I would like everyone to be on the same page. read more

Update! Went there last night for some delicious poké. They were practicing Thai prepared ice cream. It was absolutely fascinating! They were kind enough to let us try some for free. Poke bowls seem to be the newest fad, and after seeing an instagram post of the rolled ice cream that Poke Bros had, I had to make a stop during our most recent Ikea trip. The restaurant is kind of like a fast casual Chipotle style restaurant- you go in, you pick your protein, carbs, and the sauce to go into it. He got the tuna- he said it was fresh and good. Being pregnant, I couldn't eat the raw seafood (sigh), but I did have the grilled shrimp- which was good, but I would think the raw stuff would be better. They also had a sriracha aioli sauce to go with it as well- which I could have gone without, but it was ok. For dessert, we of course, got the rolled ice cream. Green tea rolled ice cream that came with some pocky along with it. The flavor was good- the consistency of the ice cream wasn't the smoothest, but, you don't really order rolled ice cream for the consistency, it's just fun to eat. I really enjoyed the food from here. I actually got food to go and usually bowls turn out to be a hot mess when traveling, but these didn't at all. I had the Johnny Utah and my friend had the Da Kine. Flavors were on point in both bowls. I loved all the fresh ingredients. The tuna and the salmon were delicious and didn't smell fishy at all. To be perfectly honest, I'm not a fan of seafood and only ordered something here because it was a matter of convenience. For that reason, I vascillated between three and four stars before deciding. The space itself has a cool atmosphere, even if some of the tables are arranged to make things close quarters. There's not much to be said about the service. Employees working the line seemed interesting in moving me along as quickly as possible, even though it was pretty dead for lunchtime. I made my own bowl with white rice, some veggies, seaweed salad (+$1), chicken, the sweet soy and sriracha aioli (a combo someone else ordered) and sesame seeds. The chicken looked very sad but since it was the same price as the vegetable bowl ($7.50) I figured I'd give it a go. Big mistake. I wish I could've said the chunks of chicken were flavorless, but what I got was the strong, unpleasant taste of boiled chicken with each bite. Otherwise the bowl was enjoyable enough even if the vegetables were fairly unexciting. The (very) modest portion of seaweed salad was quite tasty and the sweet soy/sriracha aioli a winning combo. For $9.50 I left disappointed and decidedly still hungry. I took a break at Poke Bros while driving back to Indy from a conference at Oberlin College. It was much better than most roadside meals, for sure! As others have noted, they operate on a fast casual (Chipotle style) model, where you choose what you want at the counter and get the food immediately; you can also choose a pre-set bowl if you prefer. Others have noted that it's pricey, but I didn't think it was, especially not for a big bowl of fish: I had two kinds of fish (tuna and salmon) with lots of toppings for about $12, and thought the portion was huge. I barely finished! (I did finish though, because I'm a champion.) The ingredients tasted fresh and flavorful, and the tastes all melded together nicely. Went in and wasn't sure what to order or how to for that matter so I decided to go with one of their listed combos, the Johnny Utah. I opted to get it with brown rice and even though I swore I was going to go easy on the rice (trying to low carb things a bit here) I inhaled that rice. So good and sweet and nutty tasting. I could've done with more salmon (part of the Johnny) but I'm a salmon addict soooooo ;) Everything about my bowl was great. Went for lunch today (a Monday) around 12:30pm. Surprisingly empty -- I guess I thought there would be a big crowd since it's new, but Mondays are usually always slow around the Polaris area anyways. I did the build your own poke bowl, but they do have a small four bowl menu that you can select from if you'd rather have a composed dish. I got white rice with spicy tuna, various fresh veggies (avocado is a small upcharge, as is seaweed salad), and a bunch of different sauces like Sriracha aioli, wasabi and ponzu. It was fantastic. Sometimes eating raw fish here in Ohio freaks me out (I work in the restaurant industry), but as far as I can tell their fish supplier is on point and everything tasted super fresh. Employees were not only helpful while we were ordering, but one even came by and offered to bring us some other sauces and things to try should we want them, which I thought was very nice as you usually don't see that type of service in QSRs. Loving Poke before the big craze that's been hitting the West Coast, making my own poke, and eating real poke from the islands of hawaii, I was really excited and surprised to find a poke spot out here in Columbus, OH from Poke Bros. Reading the reviews during my break i made the decision to drive down on my lunch break and give a go! Same format as all Poke spots you choose what filling you want (white rice, brown rice or salad), then you pick your protein (salmon sashimi, tuna sashimi, hawaiian marinated tuna sashimi, octopus/tako, etc), your sides and sauces. Sometimes it's a little too much to decide on the spot so they also offer a premade option which is regularly the favorites so you don;t have to go down one by one deciding what you want. Food review: I was in a bit of a rush as my lunch was only 30 minutes. I ordered the Da Kine Poke bowl as it was the simplest thing (I like the real Hawaiian style with just the Hawaiian marinated seafood over rice). Watching the person making my bowl I don't know what kind of portions he was giving me. He asked me what rice I wanted, I said white rice. He gives me 2 scoops of white rice that literally filled half of my bowl up already. He asked what tuna I wanted and I said Hawaiian style. He literally scooped up 1 scoop and dropped couple back into the tray and he rest into my poke bowl (I just got jipped!) he lays on a lot of seaweed salad, what they claim to be maui sweet onions (tastes like regular white onions) and a mountain of tobiko (flying fish roe eggs like the one that you see on some sushi rolls). I do have to hand it to them the little marinated tuna that I got tasted pretty on point I just wish i didn't spend $10.50 on mainly a bowl of rice and tobiko. End of food review. The owners did get in contact with me apologizing about the lack of protein and it's great customer service on them but, i feel that It shouldnt happen at all as many people who came after me (the guy who served me left after charging me) told the preparer that they never did this before or had poke before and if they would of got the portions I got they'd probably wouldn't think the price is worth it (they were lucky they got the correct amount of portions). read more

As a self proclaimed foodie, poke has been on my list for quite some time. I was totally unaware that poke was even available in Columbus until a little interaction on Instagram with the Poke Brothers account. The day of my visit it was a late afternoon on a weekday. Luckily my son and I had the whole restaurant to ourselves. We're able to take our time, ask questions, peruse the ingredients and figure out our combinations. The Poke Brothers (I know they're not actually the Poke Brothers), that's what I'll call them since there were two of them and I didn't get their names. They were extremely helpful in navigating us through the process. They explained in detail every ingredient and sauce. They offered suggestions on what would be good combinations of flavor. I ended up playing it safe and getting the Johnny Utah, a signature bowl with set ingredients. My son was adventurous and made his own creation. Both bowls turned out fabulous! It really is like a big bowl of deconstructed sushi. The fresh ingredients, textures and color made this a truly enjoyable meal! I honestly felt healthy eating this. I'll definitely be returning when I'm in need of a dose of healthiness. Besides the delicious food there were two other noteworthy details that I'll remember. When my son received his bowl he complained on the amount of protein he received. It was a noticeably small amount. This was immediately corrected by him being given additional protein at no extra charge. Problem solved. Along with the good customer service, the Poke Brothers genuinely wanted to know how our experience was. One of the brothers asked if we enjoyed our bowls. Nothing unusual about this, right? Well he asked my son is Mom Dukes happy? My son and I were surprised to say the least! We're giggling among ourselves wondering how this conservative looking Caucasian guy even knows this urban term! I've been waiting to try poke bowls and Poke Bros did not disappoint. It's basically chipotle-style sushi. You chose your base (rice, salad or chips), add protein and layer on toppings & sauces. Both my sister and I went with classic rice and half fresh/half spicy tuna. I was cautious of overcomplicating the dish with too many flavors, but you cannot go wrong here. The employees were great about letting us taste test the different sauces and gave us sides of each. Add ons like avocado, crab stick and masago are an extra charge, but poke is much cheaper (and more filling) than regular sushi. Can't wait to go back and try a different combo! read more

This is like Chipotle, but for seafood. Great place for healthy, fast meals. Good for picky eaters, people who omit certain meats, or people who love a big ol' pile of food. What made me super happy is the toppings: they've got all the Japanese fare, and tons of dry toppings and sauces besides. Fantastic! We've gone here a couple times and each time have really enjoyed our dinner. We get either the tuna or salmon with white rice as a base and the fish has always been extremely fresh. They've got plenty of sauce options and aren't stingy on the portion sizes either. So far there hasn't been a long line when I've gone so that's been nice not to have to rush through. I do recommend them adding some more vegetable topping options. I know they are offering traditional poke toppings but we're in Ohio not Hawaii and would love to have some more easy vegetable toppings. As well prices are a little higher than we'd like so we are holding back from going as often but would totally be there way more often if they were more affordable. Lastly the staff is not super on the ball. Saturday night I waited 5 minutes as the only person in-line and with only 5 people in the restaurant and I said "hello... anyone around" calling to the people in the back a couple times as I could hear them chatting back there and finally on the last time some girl says super loudly, "did someone just say hi???" Uh yaaaa that would be me your customer standing around waiting to give you money in exchange for food... they've always been nice but have always been a little... let's just say spacey too be nice about it. It's time to finally submit a review for this place. I love sushi and usually get some at the place a couple doors down from here for lunch when I'm at work. My boss told me that this place had opened and I decided to give it a try two weekends ago. I have been back three more times since then. The food is just phenomenal. The ingredients are simple and yet so very flavorful and fresh. If you like sushi you'll love this place. The price point isn't super cheap, you can certainly get a burger and fries from the McDonald's across the street for maybe half the price. But if you were to buy the same amount of sushi rolls as you'd get in that bowl you'd probably spend more. It's more comparable to going to Chipotle price point wise. Actually, in its set up for designing your bowl it's similar to Chipotle in that way too. Regardless, if you like fresh seafood or if you're into sushi, give Poke Bros a try. What IS Poke Bros? Let's start with what it's NOT. It's not a Pokemon-restaurant. Calm down; you're still going to like it. It's also NOT a sushi restaurant, but you can get sushi-quality raw and cooked fish, as well as very fresh ingredients combined with hot rice or salad in a bowl, topped with tastebud-tingling sauces. The Chipotle-like concept of moving through a line of ingredients, picking and choosing whatever appeals to you, means you will won't have to wait long before you're sinking your teeth into a fresh alternative to fast "food." Of course, you can have them assemble one for you, as there are some nice creations available on the menu. Cleanliness is next to Godliness, and when you're dealing with fish, you can't cut any corners. I know who owns this restaurant, and have always found his other local establishment to be impeccable. I also know staff from that particular place who have assured me that the owner and management take extra precautions to ensure the safety and freshness of their seafood. Multiple shipments per week mean that your fish hasn't been sitting around for several days. My husband and I were extremely satisfied with our first visit to Poke Bros, although he said that he would definitely double-up on the protein next time. My sons and I tried Poké Bros for the first time tonight. This is only my second time trying poké and I am already a huge fan. We all built our own bowls. I had the white rice, salmon, lots of the veggies/toppings, and the spicy Korean sauce. It was all very good and reasonably priced. The place was clean and the employees were helpful. Extremely disappointed. I had a coupon, was out Christmas shopping by myself and thought I'd try something new. When I walked in, a large part of the store was under construction. There was a line so I went ahead and went to wash my hands. The soap container itself was dirty. No paper towels, just a hand dryer that barley worked. I went out and just grabbed a napkin. Line hadn't moved but then I noticed that there were only two employees working. When it was my turn to order, no greeting, she just simply looked up and started staring at me. I ordered and used my coupon (free drink with full purchase). Went to get my drink, no lids. No normal sized straws, they were more like coffee stirs. Spoons were out like normal but the forks were in plastic wrap which I just felt was strange and kind of wasteful. Sat down, not real comfortable tables or chairs, that's for sure. I started eating and things were a little dry. The line had cleared by now, so I went up to get a side of sweet soy. I stood there for over five minutes, never once saw an employee. They had completely left the front unattended. I actually called out a few times, "hello?" and "excuse me" but no response. I could actually see myself on the camera screen made for the back but they weren't paying attention to that either. No one noticed me until they came out carrying something. He got me a side of sweet soy and I told him they were also out of cup lids-- no response. I sat down and finished my meal. Several minutes later, I got up to get a to-go refill but they still hadn't stocked the lids. I got the attention of the other employee and asked her about the lids. She went in the back and looked but came up empty handed so she looked under the counter and said, "sorry, we must be completely out". I said, "this has been a truly terrible experience and I will not be back." No response, and then I left. Food was okay. Small portions and certainly nothing special. read more
