I tried this place for the first time this morning. The selection of Poke is pretty cool. They have a wide variety of hot foods to choose from, in addition to native snacks. I ordered the Portuguese sausage with eggs and rice, spam musubi, lau-lau, and a small seaweed salad. The Portuguese sausage with eggs and rice, was tasty. The sausage had a little spice to it, the eggs were slightly soft scrambled, and the rice was a little tough. The spam musubi wasn't to my liking. It was warm, because they had just prepared it, but the rice was tough and the spam didn't have any sauce attached to it. I'm just used to the one at L&L's. The lau-lau was actually pretty good. Inside is meat and some cooked taro leaves. Very flavorful and moist. Good seasoning! The seaweed salad is delicious. It's not salty and it has the right amount of crunch to each bite! The food isn't bad, it's delicious and tasty. The only reason I give this restaurant a 3 jars, is because of the service. The man in the front counter, has a very dirty mouth. Along with the cook inside they kept yelling at each other and if you are a Filipino descent and understand the dialect, you would understand that every other word coming out of his mouth, was a bad word. All they kept doing, for the entire time I was waiting for my food, was yelling at each other and speaking very foul! That's very rude and extremely of noxious! I would like to come back for the food, but if I'm going to be waiting for my food, and the staff continue to yell at each other like this, I'm not sure if it's worth coming back for! I was looking for a convenient poke place and ran across this one. It's nothing fancy or progressive like all the new poke spots coming in. The portion sizes are large and the poke bowls are basic with merely rice, fish, and onions. I guess I've become accustomed to all the add-ins at the newer places. Usually, all poke shops taste pretty much the same to me but Poke Etc has the Wasabi flavor choice, which makes their poke so so amazing. The other flavors are good too, but their wasabi flavor is what makes them stand out from all the other poke shops. I've purchased the "catering" poke before, that they sell by weight. It's $14/lb, but extra Salmon and Tako, which are both ~$16/lb. If you get the lady, she'll sauce up your poke like crazy to try to make you pay for sauce weight LOL I posted it to iIntagram and people agreed that it looked like poke soup. A little extreme but the wasabi flavor is so good so I don't really care, this is my favorite poke shop anyway. read more

Authentic poke, fresh tasting fish, I have never been blown away by a poke store until now. I recommend trying everything because wow my personal fave is spicy Mayo pokè and kimchi pokè. They also have spam masubi. It is a hidden hole in the wall for sure. If you love fish and pokè!!!! read more

I'd give this place a 3.5 stars if i could. I liked how they had different flavors of Poke, but it definitely wasn't as fresh as other places I've been to. Honestly, hands down some of the best frickin poke you're going to get out here in the mainland. No offense to the other new & hot poke spots but if you want authentic Hawaiian poke - eat here. They get all different kind flavors and I love all of them. They serve mainly ahi tuna, in addition to tako (octopus) poke by weight, 1/4, 1/2 and 1 lb servings. If you're looking to go real big they have a sheet tray you can get with your choice(s) of poke. They also have local island food - Hawaiian, Samoan, Filipino. Finally! I can eat tuna poke anytime I crave it coz it's just around my hood. Its right off the 405 Avalon exit. Besides that it is awesomelicious good, this hole in the wall serves other Filipino delicacies such as Bagnet and Ilocano longanisa. They also have Kilawin, a Filipino version of poke which is vinegar based. This is the only place in Southbay that I know who serves this famous Ilocano chicharon and of course the very rich garlicy Pinoy sausage. Love this small spot so much. They are opening their own store just right next door. They are getting famous. Hehe! I hope their prices would still be reasonable. $7 for poke bowl is a good deal. read more

First time coming here and did not disappoint. I order the aloha combo that came with Hawaiian style pork and poke. There have 6-7 different style of poke that you can choose from. The meat was tender and flavorful. I had chosen the classic Hawaiian style poke which was really good and it came with this really good seaweed. The poke here is always fresh. It's the best town. Mind you there's a Poke Bar less than half a mile down the road from this place. I love coming here but it wasn't until recent when my boyfriend and I came to the store right before it closed and the service rendered was disappointing. The store closes at 7pm and we were there about 6:30-ish... the young man serving us wasn't happy that he had to serve us and complained abt us in Tagalog. Not cool. They weren't busy at all. Ah-mah-zing!!!!! We never order less than two pounds of poke each time we visit...and we visit often. Fresh...this is key! The flavors and tastes are well balanced so the fish still comes through. It's now drowned out by heavy tasting marinades. My FAVE is the ginger salmon. It may sound intimidating because ginger can be soooo intense, but its an accent in their poke mix. Great taste for ginger lovers and mild enough for ginger likers. Another winder is the oyster flavored tuna. Yum yum yum. As if great poke wasn't enough, their meat dishes ate rib sticking good. Great GREAT poke options in a mini-mall plaza in Carson. I had been craving authentic Hawaiian poke and I wanted to avoid all the fugazi chipotle-style so-called poke places that have been popping up everywhere in the greater Los Angeles area. So one day I called Poke Etc. I just had 2 questions. Do you have tako limu? Yes. Do you have ahi limu? Yes... And I made plans to go that weekend. You see, to me, the magic and the authenticity lies in the limu. It's my favorite. And I know it's hard to come by here on the mainland. We parked right out front. The place is small. There are some stool and counter seating facing out to the parking lot at the front window. Maybe 6 or so spaces... We were greeted by the owner. I wish I remembered his name. He was super cool and had much aloha. I told him we drove a long way and it was hard to find places that had limu. He goes to great lengths to secure the limu and I'm not gonna share the info but trust it me, it makes all the difference. We went with the lau lau and kalua pork combination plate to start. The lau lau was decent. It had good flavor, I liked it. The kalua pork was of a nice smoky flavor. A little on the dry side but still tasty. That plate lunch came with a scoop of rice topped with furikake. We also ordered my favorites. 1/4 pound of tako limu poke and 1/4 pound of ahi limu poke. They were both so good. It was like being back on Hawai'i Nei... It was exactly the flavors I was looking for. The octopus, with some shoyu, green & white onions and that limu! Amazing. The ahi tuna with the same ingredients also so good. So ono. We also got the spicy ahi poke. It had good flavor and was not too spicy. Just the way I like it... We had a sample of their special cali-hawaiian poke that had ahi, crab, cucumber, avocado, furikake, tobiko in spicy sauce. It was pretty good... All that and a couple of cans of Hawaiian Sun green tea & lychee. I was golden. I was so happy. I cant wait to go back. I will definitely bring back some to-go on the next trip. I'd say this is more of a Hawaiian spot than a Poke spot. They have Poké, but it isn't the standard Poke bowl place I was expecting because of the name. That being said; I also thought the Hawaiian food was the star here. I got the Island Bento plate and it was a perfect lunch. Good amount of food and a good sample of multiple things. It comes with a side of Poke, so you don't miss out. The spicy tuna Poke was pretty spicy, for Poke that is. The teriyaki chicken was really good and the fried pork also good. I'd probably order the same thing if I went back, which is an endorsement. The best lace is small with only a couple places to actually eat, so takeout is the way to go here. I've had the cali poke bowl, spicy mayo bowl, and had several spam musubis, and so far I can say that this place is amazing! That fried rice in the musubi, for me, is delicious not too salty. Although the ratio of rice and musubi seems a little one sided, with more rice than spam. The ahi tuna is delicious and does not taste fishy at all! Even though I like the fishy taste. I came in yesterday and ordered the Ahi Limu poke which has a nice salty taste and the spicy mayo that is super delicious. I ordered it with brown rice and I love how they add furukaki on top of the rice. This place did an excellent job by bringing the true island flavor to CA! Ever since I started going to CSUDH (down the street) in Fall 2015, i've been a regular here. I usually go every 2-3 weeks and get the SAME THING. I always get their AHI LIMU POKE. Something about it always wants me ordering it! Their poke is how it should be and is the most authentic in the area. All the other places are more americanized where it's chipotle style-- choosing your toppings and fish. But this one is where it's already marinated. It's simple and not so extra (which I really love). If you're new to this restaurant, it's family owned! I usually see the same two people there. You can also ask them for samples of the poke especially if you're unsure of which ones to get. After being a regular for a few years, i've introduced this place to my sister who goes to school with me now and always comes here as well. If I were to choose one food to eat for the rest of my life, it would easily be poke. I've tried a handful of different poke places around socal, but none has brought me to the same extent of happiness than the ones that I've eaten in Hawaii. And after my friend told me that this was place was one of the best in LA, I had to try it out. As we arrived in the plaza, I didn't expect it to be as small as it was. No public restrooms, and if I could remember, a 5 or 6 person bar top against the front window. Overall it's a cozy little place that I could see myself going to take a lunch break. But despite it's small appearance, there were a handful of different flavors in terms of poke. I chose the option to create my own bowl, which included up to two different poke flavors, a side of white rice topped off with furikake, and a TINY side of seaweed salad. I chose both Ahi Lima and Spicy Mayo. Ahi Lima tasted bland unfortunately, but the Spicy Mayo did not disappointment. My boyfriend also tried the regular Spicy and it wasn't that bad either, but nothing special. What really disappointed me was how tiny their seaweed salad was! Maybe I'm just too used to the generous amount I always receive from Jus Poke, but I devoured it in at most 2 bites. Don't get me wrong, it was delicious and pretty close to being spot on, but I wish there were more. The bowl itself, I would give it 3 out of 5 stars. The lady running the register was really nice. As it was our first time, we were having a hard time trying to decide what we wanted but she was really patient with us. Definitely don't think it's one of the best in LA. I would prefer going to Jus Poke in Redondo Beach for my island fix, but if I was in the area again, it would be an option. read more
