At a little strip mall, about the size of a walk-in-closet, they have some of the freshest poke I've had to date. Some poke places just throw it all in the box or bowl and it looks like a mess, (not that it takes way from the quality) but Poke N Roll crafted it so neatly that I didn't even want to eat it at first! Every bite was so full of flavor you don't even need the sauce, but I just can't help myself when it comes to eating everything in front of me so I used them of course. EEEK! I love Poke and for some reason it hasn't picked up popularity as much where I live. I was actually on the hunt for a sushiritto, but came across this place instead. Happy accident. This place is nothing fancy. It is just a little smidge of a shop in a stripmall-type place. The prices were totally reasonable for the amount of food you get. They advertised a small, which seemed almost too small. And a large, which was almost too big. Where is the just right? We ended up getting a small and a large to split. We would have been fine to just split the large. So many great toppings to choose from and you aren't nickel and dimed for every single thing. Poke N Roll has been one of many latest poke joints opening up here in LA & although there are still many more to try, I love this place if you hadn't notice from the amount of pictures I've already posted. There's been comparisons to Chipotle but respectively because of the unassembled set up. Chipotle being an unassembled burrito bowl is Poke N Roll being an unassembled sushi bowl. Pretty simple: Choose brown/white rice, salad or half and half. Then you choose two types of fish, yes/no to free crabmeat, three toppings (It's weird because sesame seeds are free but furikake counts as extra or a topping on its own-- They should just make furikake the free topping!), & a sauce! All for a solid $10-$14 depending on how many add on extras you have! Their portions are larger than other poke places which is nice. They're a one size poke bowl spot. Now whether you eat at home or dine in, there are scissors purposely hanging in the restaurant for you to cut off the box flaps for a better eating experience not an annoying "UGH this stupid flap!" experience. Service is cool. They're nice. Some servers voices are louder than others. Seating is a bit squished because the venue is small. It's a sushi bar type of seating rather than actual separate table tops. With that said, usually best to eat home if it's busy. Evenings around 7PM and later are pretty low for customer flow so you can get a seat quickly & head over to Americana for some dessert afterwards! Shout out to FRED for always helping me and my girlfriend out.! Now, this is the authentic stuff that I've been searching far and wide for. As soon as I walked in and saw the very familiar layout (w/all the poke options already made & laid out, rather than the trendy make your own setup). There were many authentic looking options, but of course, I had to get my usual spicy tuna and spicy salmon The staff here were super friendly as well, and were willingly handing out taste tests for whatever you wanted to try. Also, the prices were very reasonable! If you want more bang for your buck though, I recommend trying out their different sauces. read more

The poke here is LEGIT. I'm from Hawaii, I would know. AND they have ALOHA Shoyu. Yes, it's not 'traditional' per se- (which is pre-mixed with various types of seaweed, chopped onions, garlic, etc) - but the quality & freshness of the fish, the quantity, and selection of toppings are wonderful. On one hand, I want to tell everyone to come here and give this place the business it deserves. On the other, I want to keep my mouth shut because I don't want it to get any more crowded at lunch than it already is. There's a small parking lot out front - but it shares space with other businesses in the square, so you may have to find street parking down the road. A small annoyance, but it's worth the trek. There are two sizes you can go for - medium or large. When I first started coming here, the medium was the large. So, if you're really hungry - or are one of the types that enjoy sharing, go for the large. Otherwise, the medium should be plenty of food. You can choose rice (brown or white), salad (it's just plain greens), or half-half. I recommend half-half. My favorite fish orders include salmon & scallops. Scallops are not part of traditional Hawaiian-style poke; but I love them. My favorite toppings include smelt eggs (normally, most poke places would consider this a 'fish', so it's practically a freebie), and seaweed salad. And now for the cool part: you get to choose what sauce you want, and mix it yourself! Having trouble deciding? May I suggest spicy mayo or ponzu? Drinks: there's serve-your-own water from a dispenser in the corner, and an assortment of beverages including milk tea in a can & melon soda. Sweet tooth? Try a macaron ice-cream sandwich! Everyone seems like they just hate working here and won't say a word if they don't have to. For a place that charges you over $20 for a meal and drink the customer service is worse than McDonald's. I really want to love this place, but theres just some things that trigger me haha So to start things off, when arriving here for the first time, you will notice that the parking lot is VERY small. So youll be lucky if you find parking inside the lot and there is street parking around the area, but it is also residential so most residents have their cars parked outside of their house as well. Now for the ordering process, you walk up and start with your base, and then pick your proteins. They have lots of different options, and have options to bake as well. I would recommend baking either the scallops or the crawfish, since they taste so good with the rest of the bowl(or box in this case). Although what threw me off is that they charge you extra 50 cents PER SCOOP to bake (even though its going in the same oven and same foil wrap). So if you want 3 baked scallops, then yes, you are going to be charged extra THREE times lol. Also if you want any extra scoops, its another 2.50 if that wasnt enough. Toppings, you get to choose from 4 different ones only, and extra charge for any more, but 4 seems like a good amount honestly but make sure to choose wisely! Also you can only pick from one sauce, but I like to mix eel and ponzo, so I pay extra for both sauces! After finally customizing my order, it usually comes to around 16 dollars. Which is on the higher end compared to most poke spots. You are getting a lot of rice and the box does seem bigger than others. I do admit, the quality is very good here and you do get what you pay for. So if youre willing to shell out extra cash for extra options and high quality, then this is your go to. read more

This place is by far the best poke place in Glendale, dare I say in LA!!! First off the fish is always fresh and I've never ever ever had a bad experience there. I work in the area and eat here several times a week, the portions are huge (you can honestly share one serving with two people), but if you're starving you can guarantee you'll be filled up with this healthy meal. Not only that the toppings that they have a really good, you can add raw sashimi or ask them to bake certain type of fish. Their sauces are to die for, the hot and spicy especially delicious for anyone who loves spicy kick. On some days when I'm not that hungry I'll ask for all salad, on other days I'll mix it with some brown rice and there you go! You can also order ahead online and pick up if you're crunched for time, the service is fast friendly and super professional, I've never had to wait in line for a long time at all. you pay for what you get, every dollar is worth it. The poke here is really delicious and the place inside is really adorable, it's really small but a very cozy area to be in. I go here regularly for lunch, you can order online and pick it up there. Cons: I have an issue about the small and regular portions. I'd like to put a recommendation. While they have a small and large portion, j feel that they should add a medium one. The large portion gives you 3 fish and 4 toppings for $11 and the small portion gives 1 fish and 2 toppings for $6. They don't allow you to substitute a topping for another fish but you can do it the other way around which I feel wouldn't be worth the money you get for poke if they allow that. I discovered a place near my office in Pasadena, but wanted to find a good spot in Glendale where I live, so naturally I checked Yelp and this place got great reviews. THE HYPE IS REAL! Poke N Roll is located in a teeny tiny plaza in downtown Glendale. This is honestly the only thing I do NOT like about this place because it is impossible to find a parking spot in this lot, and if you DO find a spot, it's extremely tiny and hard to get in/out of. I recommend parking on Central because there's usually street parking and it's free. It's also off a smaller residential street but the parking is horrendously packed. You can choose the size of your bowl, and depending on what size you get, you get more fish options, toppings, etc. I love the brown rice with salmon, crab and shrimp tempura, cream cheese (sometimes hard to find at poke shops!), onions, pineapple, furikake, etc. They also have a great selection of sauces. I love the spicy mayo and garlic! The portions are HUGE, and the food is great quality so it's absolutely perfect. I've been to other poke places where they're kinda stingy on their portions, but this place is super generous. Everyone that works there is super friendly and they prepare your order really quickly! They have a little bit of indoor seating (bar stool status), but I usually get mine to go. Overall, hands down my new favorite poke place! Let's start with how annoying is it that they don't let you sample the fish or the sauces before ordering it and they charge additional $ for each extra sauce.
