BEST. POKE. IN LA! This place is my go-to spot, and has been for quite a few years now. I can't remember who recommended this place initially, but bless their soul. I make sure to recommend it to anyone who is looking for fresh and quality ingreidents. Most of all, they carry items that most poke places don't, such as the spicy albacore. Everything is so consistently delicious that there's no need to recommend any single item; however, I usually stick to the salmon, tuna and spicy albacore in a half white rice half salad mix with some toppings (they have a plethora of toppings and sauces, as well). The portions are insane: super bang-for-your-buck. It has a very mom-and-pop vibe, which makes supporting this place all that better! I'm updating it because I was notified that now, if you do take out or an online order, you don't get charged sales tax. Maybe Poke Roll will be what's for lunch today! Wasn't too thrilled with this sushi place tonight. Let's start with the positives... fresh fish, nice people, and open late on Fridays weekends when my fav poke spot, Poke Cafe is closed! My biggest issue with this place is that the lettuce was not fresh and do not taste good. I also do not like that there is a limited amount of toppings you get to choose. It's a very confusing set up compared to other poke spots I've been to. They do not offer samples of any of the fish, but they do have a wide variety of fish. I would hesitate to get any of the unusual flavors (unagi or crawfish) without trying it first. They limit you to one sauce and even the dry toppings are limited. I asked for a container to take the hot sauce to go, and they gave me a tiny paper cup. When I asked for a cover, they said they would have to charge for it. $12+ does warrant a tiny dish with a cover? Didn't get an overall great vibe from this place and the poke was just okay (mostly due to the other ingredients that weren't fresh - the fish seemed fresh). This was my second time coming to this poke shop. I got the large and it is hefty. Usually, I can finish a large at other spots, but here I had to take the rest home. Fresh fish, yummy sauces. And they have more seafood options than a lot of other places. The only thing is that the crab is considered an extra fish and most places have it as a topping. This was my first taste of poke, and after eating at Poke N Roll, I am definitely a fan. I came here with my friends for a late afternoon lunch. We expected parking to be difficult to find due to other reviewers referencing the small parking lot, but luckily there were a few spots available. The lot is quite small, so definitely be prepared to look for street parking. The restaurant is quite small, with a long table in the middle as well as a higher bar seating with stools along the side (if I remember correctly). I feel like people drop by, get their poke, eat, and are out of the restaurant in under thirty minutes, so finding a seat isn't usually too difficult. The menu is fairly simple. You "BYOS" (Build Your Own Sushi) for $9.17, where you can pick white or brown rice, salad, or a roll (additional $1.25). Then you can add two types of fish on top of the base. The next step consists of 3 toppings, before finishing off with your choice of sauce. There are also extra sides if you'd like to add different things like edamame, gyozas, or soup to your bowl. You also get 1 scoop of crabmeat in your bowl. Your poke bowl is packed up for you in a cardboard box with the sauce on the side, so you can mix and customize it however you want. I think the main reason I enjoyed my poke bowl here was because they had sour cream as one of the toppings, which I realized some other places do not have. I ordered white rice with salmon and eel. For my toppings, I chose seaweed, sour cream, and smelt eggs. My friends ended up doing double scoops of seaweed, which I thought was a cool option in the case that you don't really want any other toppings. For the sauce, I tried Yuzu Soy, which was a bit sour (very reminiscent of rice vinegar, but with more flavor). After mixing everything together, I really liked the flavor combination of my bowl. There was a good amount of fish and toppings, so I felt like it was well worth the price. tl;dr - Definitely a place to try out if you're a fan of poke. Workers are friendly (you can take a Polaroid with their camera and post it on their wall of pictures!), and the portions are quite generous. The fish was really fresh as well! Sooo good and sooooper fast! I've only been here once, so far, but I'm already loving it. The guys there are insanely friendly and they've got some darn good food that they'll happily customize the way you like. They have cooked and raw fish so (assuming u don't despise eating our aquatic buddies) there's likely a yummy option on the board. Dressing/sauce stuff came on the side so u can choose to eat it dry or drown ur food to ur liking. We got a couple boxes of half brown rice half salad bowls, topped it w 5-6 items of flavorful foods -- extra ging for me, please!! -- and about 11$ and 5 min later we were chowing down. The fish is by no means fresh. They charge you for extra items from food down to soy sauce packets. Pretty much will charge you for anything you want that's beyond their 2 fish +crab, 3 toppings, 1 sauce deal. As much as I LOVE Poke, I would not come here again. I felt like I was a little jipped. Their seaweed salad is NOT fresh btw, tasted completely artificial. URGH! I had Tuna and Salmon, with the crab meat (which is what you get by default), over rice and 3 toppings. Very interesting take on the whole poke/ sushi concept that's been sweeping SoCal. Upon walking in, I was greeted by very friendly workers who were eager to help me out. I got brown rice with imitation crab, spicy tuna, eel, seaweed salad, cucumbers, avocado, fried garlic, furikake, and spicy mayo sauce. I was disappointed that only 2 types of fish were cut into the traditional poke cubes though the name of the restaurant proudly incorporates the word "poke". It seemed like a stretch for me. My spicy tuna was mashed and scooped. The eel is baked for you upon ordering which was a nice touch, the seaweed salad was average, the cucumbers are cut in larger slices, the avocado was scooped in a chunk, and the fried garlic was literally fried cloves of garlic. The furikake was sprinkled atop all of this and finally, the spicy mayo came in a small pre-prepared container-- not mixed in with the protein like Hawaiian poke is meant to be. Overall, I wasn't a fan of the spicy tuna, fried garlic, or cucumber and would probably not get these again. The flavor of the eel was good and the flavor of the sauces were good as well. For me, the concept was just too large of a mess of flavors and quite a deviation from the traditional poke dish they claim in their restaurant branding. The concept is build-your-own-bowl and there are so many different options for fish, toppings and sauce that it can be overwhelming. The line moves fairly quickly and I suggest checking out their website first to look at what they offer, just so you have an idea of what you'd like. You get 2 choices of fish, 3 choices of sides and 1 choice of sauce. For my bowl, I had the salmon and yellowtail with seaweed salad, furikake and fried garlic as my sides. For my sauce, I chose the spicy mayo. Each bowl comes with a scoop of crab meat. While the scoops of fish look kind of on the small side at first, believe me, it comes out to be quite a lot of food. I highly recommend getting the seaweed salad, as it definitely adds an extra dimension of flavor that wonderfully enhances the fresh chopped fish. The place is super cramped and small and finding a seat can be quite the challenge. If you go during peak lunch or dinner hours, you may have to wait for a seat or eat standing up. There are soooooo many places to get poke "Chipotle" style in LA and OC but what makes Poke N Roll stand out from its competitors are the variety of fish offered and its sauce game! Poke N Roll by far offers the most variety of fish and sauce/flavors than any other poke shop. The fish offerings include eel, yellow tail, and scallops along side the typical salmon and tuna. You can even get your fish BAKED for a small fee if you have aversion to raw fish. The sauces offered range from the typical ponzu to spicy poke sauce. Sauces come on the side so you can mix as little or as much as you want with your food. For about $10/bowl, there was enough food to fill me up but not make me feel gross. Definitely enjoyed my meal. Chose to adventure out to Glendale with my girlfriend and friend to try Poke & Roll. While the parking lot was small, we were able to find parking right in front of the store. We walked in to a cool establishment playing Korean pop music and had anime toys all around the walls. I was sold already! The service was very nice and even let us try a couple of samples (I don't know If they always do That). I Got two fish combo and added extra. I really enjoyed the flavor. While it isn't the same as sushi, the meal fixed my cravings for sushi! I loved everything I got, especially the seaweed salad. Next time I won't waste a side on crunchy. I think this is a cool place to go for lunch when you need to solve a sushi itch lol while I would not travel 40 minutes to come here, I would come back if I'm ever close to the area. We stopped by on a Saturday evening and it wasn't too packed, which is good because the place is tiny and it would have been difficult for us to navigate our way to the exit if all of the stools had been occupied. You can choose from a bowl with rice or a salad on top of greens. They have brown rice which I opted for, but I've decided I prefer white rice with my poke or sushi. You then add on 2 types of fish, 3 toppings, and 1 sauce. For my two types of fish, I got salmon and albacore. I liked that the fish are cut in big pieces like traditional poke. They also offer some hot options like eel or dynamite. One scoop of a crab mayo mixture is included. Sadly, the scallop and shrimp options looked unappetizing as they were tiny and looked dried out. For my 3 toppings, I chose cucumber, seaweed salad, white onion (chopped, I would have preferred thinly sliced), and added on nori (dried seaweed) flakes. I went with ponzu for my sauce and found it little too sour. I liked the wasabi mayo, it had a tinge of sweetness to offset the bite from the wasabi. All sauce comes on the side, which means you drizzle it yourself on the scoops of fish, resulting in some parts being underseasoned. I agree with other reviewers that this isn't so much a poke place as a chirashi or sushi bowl place. At other poke joints, fish is either pre-marinated or they toss everything in a base sauce and you can add additional sauce on the side if you want. The downside to mixing everything together is not being able to tell which fish you were eating. I really wanted to like this place, but the service and pricing skewed things for me. I'll preface this by saying that the poke quality is very good. I first ordered via UberEats because of a deal they were offering, and I ended up liking it so much I had to visit the store a few times. Poke N Roll stands out from the many other poke stores thanks to its more unusual fish options, such as salmon skin (one of my favorite things), salmon collar, and unagi. They give decent-sized scoops of each portion, and all the raw fish I've tried has been fresh. They heat up some options on the spot, such as salmon skin and crawfish, and the quality seems to vary for these. I wouldn't get the crawfish again, but the salmon skin has generally been crispy and meaty. That said, Poke N Roll has a very odd pricing structure. They offer a mini and large, but nothing in between size-wise or price-wise. The mini gets you 1 fish, 2 toppings, and 1 sauce for $6.25 while the large gets you 3 fish, 4 toppings, and 1 sauce for $11.25 (both prices before tax). The large box is at least twice the size of the mini. I'm not sure why there's no mid-range option, because the large is more than filling while the mini is barely enough. I also dislike that they limit the number of toppings to such a small number. On top of that, the toppings that count toward the limit include things like cilantro, green onion, and seaweed flakes, which are generally free (as they should be) at most poke spots. I usually end up taking the box home and adding these toppings at home rather than paying for them unnecessarily, but this kind of defeats the purpose of eating poke fresh. What's thrown me off most has been the service. They seem friendly enough with regulars, but a bit standoffish otherwise. There's no greeting or other acknowledgment of your existence when you walk in. I've also had items forgotten a few times, such as extra sauce for checking in. Overall, it's just not an environment where I've felt like they wanted me there. Quality poke, but some issues with the overall experience that would keep me from coming back. read more

This place surprised me! Not the best I've had, but definitely somewhere I'd return to. Lots of fish options, loved that the spicy fish options did not contain mayo, and the portions were pretty big. The only negative was that the salad was a little wilted and brown on the edges, but maybe that's because I got served the bottom of the tray. Still a good poke spot but, the updated menu prices have unfortunately increased. This was a new change so the staff was even confused. No more small bowls just medium and large. The included items are down from four to only two. You have to pay $1 for each additional item. I hate it when they take a good thing and mess it up. It may be better to just raise the price and include the extras like poke 1 1/2 in down southThe way it is now, you feel like you are being nickel and dimed excessively. Additional scoop of fish $2.50; bake fee $.50 per scoop; additional items $1; additional sauce $.59 They don't have perka now they have something else and it's only on the large bowls. After coming here a few times I now given them 5 stars. Now there was a lady taking orders at register and she was very polite and nice . The food is always made with such good care . Everything looks and taste fresh . I had forgotten my wallet in the car and while I went to get it they were very patient waiting for me to pay. I have now become a regular customer looking forward to eat my poke every weekend . Keep up to great job read more

I usually don't go out much to restaurants with my family but this was worth mentioning. We decided to eat out and stumbled upon Poke N Roll and I have to say that it was overall good. The Restaurant workers are decently trained and have patience, they don't rush you with your order. I was here today, I paid 3.50 for the extra salmon skin and I almost choked on it because it was so hard I couldn't even chew it, I spent my money to pick out hard salmon skin out of my meal. I'm very disappointed with my experience. read more

We love poke so we wanted to give Poke N Roll a try. I am glad we did. Your sushi /poke bowl are made to order. You choose your rice (brown or steam), 2 fish items, 3 toppings and your sauce. I was a little confused at first because the menu was very unorganized. The fish items were very fresh. You can ask for them to be baked which is an extra charge. Adding additional fish is also an option but also is an extra charge. Overall, the food was pretty good. If you are planning to eat inside it might be difficult. Seating is very limited with one big table in the middle and counter style seating along the wall. read more
