Small box, white rice with salmon and octopus

My husband was craving poke while we were in Glendale so we stopped by Poke N Roll. I was disappointed by how they charge extra for some of the toppings that are typically common in poke. Everything seemed overpriced and the staff didn't seem happy to help us. My husband asked for wasabi, and they gave him a small container of the tiniest bit of wasabi in there. They seemed stingy and not willing to give more than what exactly fit in their scoop. They also don't mix the sauces in, but give them to you in containers which is unusual compared to other poke places we've been to. The poke tasted good and the fish was fresh, but it was a disappointing eat due to the price and lack of quality service.

Came to this poke spot in Glendale never been here b4 it was really good and really packed i was amazed on how big the box was so if ur really enjoy poke n want more portion come try this place out fresh and fast

tried this poke spot near the americana and pleasantly surprised at how fresh the fish was!and for a size large, we got a considerable portion. ive tried other poke spots in glendale and nothing really stood out (although also not bad) and i would say poke n roll ranks slightly above the others. the only gripe i had was that the sauce wasnt mixed into our fish like i was used to, i maybe could have asked for them too but i found it odd they didnt do it automatically. so i was just dipping my fish into the sauce on the side.. otherwise i would return! really friendly workers and seems the staff are huge fans of house and I really enjoyed the freshness of the salmon especially.

each sauce is one dollar! I hope you aren't the type to like to put everything on it lol

I decided to try out a new poke spot and I'm a little disappointed. I've tried a few pokey spots and I'm well aware that pokey is not cheap. However, I always feel like you get your moneys worth except for today. I paid $23 for this Poké bowl. The fish was very fresh and so were all the ingredients, but I felt like the staff could've been more friendly. The young lady that assisted me didn't give me any type of direction. It was my first time here. The fish options that they had were very simple. The toppings were also very simple. Being that it was my first time, I asked the girl to pick a sauce that was sweet and spicy because I wasn't familiar with the sauces. and she gave me a container didn't explain what it was and just said it's going to be extra. I tasted it. I think it was oyster sauce, but it definitely was not what I was looking for so I went back and asked for two additional sauces, which both were a dollar each extra. I won't be coming back. Although it was fresh and it tasted good. It did not meet my expectations for a poke bowl. My advice would be to thoroughly read the board menu before ordering so you don't miss out on any special toppings. I usually rely on the employees to kind of suggest the good stuff. and I usually like all the sauces mixed so it was unfortunate that I had to pay for each single one. They had plenty of parking and it was really nice, clean and fresh inside. Very nice place.

THE BEST POKE EVER?? Been eating here since my college days, and now I drive an hour to get here just because I crave it so much! My Favorite part is that you can bake the fish if you cant eat raw ones,, which is what I always do!! Basically unlimited toppings, and great service. Generous portion,, ended up being $25 after tip and tax but its so worth it!!! Salmon Tempura used to not have any extra charges so thats a little sad now,, used to be my go to fish choice. But the spicy albacore, scallop and salmon are now my go-to since extra $3 is just too expensive Get the spicy mayo and eel sauce! Dont forget garlic oil and seaweed flakes for topping!

Medium Poke Bowl. 2 Salmon, Spicy Tuna . Avocado , edemame, crunchy onions, cucumbers, jalapeños, cilantro , serrano peppers.

Service was very friendly. Cashier will talk stories with you and tell you how he makes the food. Now onto the food. The reason why I rated this 3 stars is because it could improve a lot. Portion met the standards (which they give a lot in Hawaii in multiple LnL locations). The taste and how they made the kalua pork was ok. The taste was a little bland and like any other kalua pork, it has to be mixed with the cabbage, this place didn't. The cabbage was underneath and still freshly cut. A good kalua pork would be mixed with the cabbage so the cabbage is soft. And I get it, people don't like cabbage sometimes, but that's just the dish. I feel like the kalua pork could be more tender as it was a little rough to munch on and more with the seasonings. This place can improve a lot. Hopefully they can contact LnL in Hawaii to help with the recipes and cooking methods (:

Friendly staff, yummy Hawaiian food, and now a full bar!…read more After going to Malama Pono the first time, we were so enamored with the food that my husband wanted to celebrate his birthday there. When we went to celebrate his birthday, the general manager, Matthew, heard us talking about a cocktail we liked, and he made it for us on the house. I love when restaurants surprise and delight. We particularly like the salmon tartar, the Uni on crispy rice, the lobster noodles, and the candy bar dessert. It's nice to have an upscale Hawaiian option in town.

According to the restaurant's website, their name comes "from the Hawaiian saying, E Mālama Pono,…read morewhich means to take care of, also until we meet again." Though the staff was gracious and attentive while navigating a small space and a nearly full house, the kitchen still has some things of their own to take care of in order to live up to their full potential. The menu features an interesting and eclectic selection of Asian fusion dishes, and there were far more intriguing items than two of us could try on one visit -- still, nearly everything we ordered was somewhat lacking. We started off strong with drinks: My traditional Mai Tai had a nice flavor without being overly sweet; my wife's Sunset Sangria WAS fairly sweet, but that's how she likes her drinks, and she was very happy. One thing to note: their liquor license has only recently been approved, and their website still says they do not have a full bar -- they'd do themselves a favor by updating the website, as the fun drinks will be a draw. Okay, so drinks were good, but our starter of Garlic Naan with Tzatziki Sauce was disappointing. The bread was really pita, not naan, and there was no presence of garlic whatsoever. Basically, it was warm pita with a touch of salt, so not at all what we were expecting, and not what we would have ordered if we'd known what was coming. Still, the tzatziki sauce was flavorful and fresh. Would have gone well with garlic naan. For an entree, my wife ordered the Horseradish Crusted Mahi Mahi, which is plated with Pineapple Beurre Blanc, Blistered Tomatoes, Roasted Pineapple, Scallion Relish and Shoyu Syrup, and served with a side of white rice. This was a heavily layered dish that was far too sweet for me, but my wife quite liked the flavor. Underneath the many adornments, the fish was fresh and cooked to a very pleasing texture, and I might have enjoyed this in a more savory preparation. My own entree was the Malama Mochiko Chicken: crispy fried thigh meat with a Ponzu Shoyu and Tomato Ginger Sauce. The crispy batter had a pleasing crunch but very little taste; the Ponzu Shoyu had a deep, earthy flavor, but there was just too little of it served on the plate -- there needed to be much more clinging to the chicken, or the batter needed more punch, or both. The other sauce placed to the side, the Tomato Ginger, tasted mostly like a generic sweet chili dipping sauce, and I only used it once. So, yes, the crispy chicken could be great, but really needs a seasoning upgrade. I also ordered a side of the Macaroni Salad, because it's my favorite aspect of a Hawaiian plate lunch. Their version's macaroni was cooked to a spot-on texture, with just the right amount of al dente to hold up to the mayonnaise while still being primarily soft. The salad as a whole had the right creaminess (not too much mayo), but again lacked seasoning. I added some salt, which helped a bit, but it needed something else as well. So, I like the concept of the restaurant and the descriptions of many of the dishes. The creativity and ambition are appealing. But right now, the execution just doesn't bring these ideas to life. Perhaps the chef (described as mostly self-taught) would benefit from consultation with one or two of the many excellent Asian chefs in the city, and I say that without meaning any insult. I'm optimistic they'll goose the flavors if they try, and so to Malama Pono I say, E Malama Pono: until we meet again. PS. Having their valet priced $3 higher than the other restaurants with which they share the service is strange and makes a bad first impression.
