I was drawn by all the positive ratings and ditched some other recommendations to go here. Unfortunately, they were out of: Pineapple, Seaweed and Kimchi. If those things all usually go on your poke bowl - well, that's it! I understand that things are fresh but - at 1pm being out of things? Unfortunate! Ingredients / quality was fresh. Generally nothing to complain about. When the server forgot our Eel (we paid extra for it) and we needed to come back to get it I was sure this wasn't his best day. But then I figured he forgot the masago on top so I returned again :-) Overall, I have to admit, I wasn't too happy. The poke overall has been fine. It's 2:15 and we placed our order at 1:45. It's over 90 degrees out today and there's still no sign that our food will be done any time soon. There is a lady with her newborn waiting outside in this heat too. I'm sure they are extra busy today but they should, at the very least, let people know if they have to wait 30+ minutes for a poke bowl that other places manage to put together while you pay. This place is a great addition to the Village. Being so close to the beach sometimes you want something easy, light, and delicious not a greasy spoon fast food joint or a sit down restaurant. The poke was really good and fresh. There's a whole lot of fixings and sauces - I always have trouble figuring out what sauces go well together so I love that they have suggestions on what flavors to mix and match! I love eel and was super excited that they offer it because you don't often see it at poke places. This is my new go to! Also, I had a terrible experience with Grubhub, they couldn't find the entrance to my complex so just left. I was really frustrated being charged almost $20 and being told they wouldn't refund me because the attempt was made. So, I called the store to let them know about the service (no fault of Poke Rainbow) and Billy was awesome, he took the time to listen to me gripe and called Grubhub himself and got me a full refund!! He even offered to have one of his employees drop food off to me since I couldn't leave the house with my newborn. Go Billy... now that's custom service. The online ordering (Chow Now) was super easy and straightforward. The customizations are suburb. As always, try and pick up if you can vs. 3rd party delivery which takes a massive cut. Been going to this poke spot for a while now. And the reason why I've continued to go back is only because of how good the poke itself is. the Customer service on the other hand is horrible. Our order is wrong half the time (on doordash) and when you order in person at their storefront it's not uncommon for your order to sit half-finished on the counter for 5 mins while the employees banter with eachother (you aren't allowed into the store due to "Covid" so you have to wait outside and watch your order go unfinished from the sidewalk). Theres obviously a lack of management and oversight. Very frustrating over and over. I personally think a little better management would turn this into a great spot. read more

I'm actually shocked I came on here and saw I haven't written a review for this place yet! Well here I go...I have had Poke Rainbow in Redondo Beach probably more times than I can actually count. Such a well loved addition to the Riviera Village; but in all seriousness, this is the best poke place in the South Bay hands down. I am so fortunate to live within walking distance of this place! There are 4 main things that really make me love Poke Rainbow. 1. The food is excellent. Period. The quality of everything is SO fresh, which is very important to any ridiculously good food. This place cares about their ingredients. You get a great selection of fish, bases, and toppings, all of which are just as fresh. Even the crunchy additions stay crunchy, and all of it the toppings are unlimited. I appreciate when a business takes great care in the quality of their ingredients going into the food. 2. Consistency. Poke Rainbow is so consistent. Doesn't matter if your ordering in a lunch rush, on a rainy Tuesday, or 10 minutes before close... this place delivers consistency across the board. Every time you visit/order you can expect to get the same quality, same quantity, and same great customer service. I have a go to order and it is consistently just as amazing tasting as the first time I started ordering it. 3. The price. Most poke places can be "pricey," but in my opinion I feel like Poke Rainbow is way more than fair in price. You get so much food for what you order. I feel like at whatever size you order, the price point matches the amount of food you get!!! I hope it never changes. I see their coupons on the back of Vons receipts, although I admit I have never used one yet. I always forget, because I'm just excited to get some of my favorite food. 4. Customer service. It really is on par, and this place is super friendly. The place is clean, and runs like a well oiled machine. I was so happy to support this business during COVID, and when they opened back up a bit I made sure to get my fix. I order on DoorDash or GrubHub. Even the service is great with a 3rd party! Poke Rainbow pays attention to the little things, including special instructions. It was my mom's birthday last month and the only thing she wanted and prayed for was for Poke Rainbow to open before her birthday. Well it did. I ordered her Door Dash and mentioned in the comments it was her 67th birthday. Especially because this is all she wanted. Well, they wrote back a nice little card wishing her a happy birthday! My mom was so taken back, she took a picture of the food and put the little card in her scrapbook. Little things like that just make me appreciate a small place like this even more. Good people here. I know that even one bad review can KILL businesses on here. I know how expensive it is to run a business in the village. That's what compelled me to check if I had written a review. People need to know that this place is the best. I was so scared this place would close during COVID. However, because of everything I mentioned above, I really hope that Poke Rainbow stays around for many many years to come. I'm enjoying my poke bowl while I write this. So nice to see this business open during covid-19. I was able to order outside and was glad to see they had a line and that I was able to support this small business! Billy, the owner was working the register and helping build bowls behind the counter which says a lot! He was so friendly and positive chatting with customers, which made my first time visit even better. The food was delicious and fresh! Tried it for the first time this week. They are following coronavirus rules where you order on a clipboard and pay at the door then they make your food and bring it out to you. There are benches outside to sit and eat on. The fish was good and tasted fresh, but wasn't amazing. The sauces were not flavorful at all. I got the spicy mayo, ponzu, and chili oil sauce which was supposed to be spicy but wasn't spicy one bit. They all lacked a lot of flavor. Also, they are NOT generous with their portions. The small only came with about 8 pieces of fish. The white rice is good but seemed to be a little too hard. I like the layout of the food with the rice on the bottom and fish on top. The parking sucks because it's meters so if there's no open spots you have to park really far away. I don't think I will be going back here as I have other poke places on the hill that I like more (fresher fish, generous portions, more flavorful sauces). read more

Ehhh. The quality of the fish and toppings were very good but nothing about it was memorable. The portions were kinda small and they use those small portioned cups which makes it feel very standard like you got it from the refrigerated section of Whole Foods. Gave this place a shot since they are offering 20% off during the grand opening. I felt like they also took off 20% of the portions. I ordered a large poke bowl er tray as that is what it comes in and had 25 little cubes of poke which got lost on the rice. Maybe had it been an actual bowl and not a tray it would not have appeared as such. Lots of nice warm rice but a lot of the other ingredients the flavors got lost in the rice. During the grand opening this is when the customer service should shine. Not today. I don't know who I dealt with since no one wears name tags. They use Squared for the receipts so unfortunately it doesn't show the name. I kept having to remind the employee where his customer was. He was constantly getting distracted with other employees conversations or with other customers. I'll give them a try again after the grand opening and we will see if it is just opening glitches or not. read more

I love the food here and I eat it often - always delivery. But I'd say half the time someone forgets to include a napkin and chopsticks, and although that's manageable, probably 25% of the time they forget to include sauces on the side. That's a real bummer when it happens. read more

Bad business! Waited close to 1.5 hours and called yelp. Was told driver left it "on the stairs." On the stairs from a raw fish restaurant! Absurd! Yelp said they couldnt do anything because (yelp said) the restaurant said the order was delivered! Absurd times 2! I demanded and received a refund. Rev 1: spoke with owner. Appears some problematic responsibility shared between restaurant and deliverer which may hv been the disconnect resulting in my failed order. We were excited to try this new Poke spot in our neighborhood and I'm so glad we did. It is the best fish in a poke place I've ever had. Super cold and fresh tasting. Great sauce selection as well. People working behind the counter were super friendly and sweet. Great tasting poke and very clean and cute environment. Only a couple of things could have made it even better. We arrived around 12:30 ( opens at 11) and they were out of key ingredients ( cucumber and avocado) cucumber was here just not prepped. Avocado had run out and not yet been delivered. Also portion size wasn't consistent. My husband and I both ordered mediums. Mine was pretty small. In fact I'm still hungry. My husband has a bigger appetite and he was super full. I live in the area so was able to walk to Poke Rainbow and give it a try when it first opened. This place is really good. They give large portions and do not hold back, you really get your moneys worth. They are super clean here and are very helpful to walk customers through how bowls are made and their recommendations. I'll be coming back as it's easily a neighborhood staple. If you drive here, it may be tricky to find parking and you'll need to pay for the meters. No biggie though, just park a few blocks away and get some ocean breeze on your walk to poke! read more
