They offered to make another order and have it delievered only to be called 5 minutes later saying the kitchen closes at 8:30pm and they can't take anymore orders. I called to ask for takeout of the same order and was told the same thing. It says they close at 9pm. If you're kitchen closes at 8:30pm wouldn't you have to close at 8:30pm? I came back and ordered ahead for takeout, the order was ready on time. We got a poke bowl with 3 scoops protein and selected for spring mix, spicy tuna, spicy mayo sauce, ponzu sauce, ahi tuna, salmon, green onion, edamame, oshinko (pickled radish), tobiko, seaweed salad, sesame seeds, cucumber, ginger, and crispy fried onion. It was okay, decent balance of ingredients although not necessarily outstanding either as poke goes. It would be nice if they offered more sauce options. I also got a matcha milk tea, the large size of 24oz (which costs $1 more), and 25% sugar. The matcha was a lot sweeter than I expected for 25%. Maybe they skimped on the matcha, but it's good if you like your milk tea sweet. Lastly, I got an order of futomaki (vegetable and egg sushi rolls), which came with 8 rolls. They were just okay, I don't really like avocado or cucumber that much personally. They do tend to fall apart when you pick them up. Great value for money in my opinion. I've had this place several times. Ordered their poke bowls a few times on DoorDash, and just had their sushi rolls for the first time. My first impression is they are quite generous with their portions, and I look for that with sushi because I'm not too picky. I ordered off of grubhub for pickup this time since I was working in the area. Food was prepared in 15 minutes and tasted great. First time ordering from this place, and it was a great experience. I get my takeout bowl, and it's not packed like I got from other places. It's neat and organized. Perhaps the person who made this Poke bowl wanted to put the diner at ease, by making the bowl calming to the eyes. Very nice presentation. I ordered the Poke Bowl with salmon, shrimp, and crab on a spring mix veggie base. OMG! I ate it up quick! It's hellya easy to eat because there's no rice base. OK, I don't know all the fine tuned mechanics of Poke Bowls, but I prefer no rice. A veggie base leads to "just keep eating!" Really good! Pretty good Poke place in Oakland Chinatown!! I've been here a few times, definitely fresh poke, pretty quick, organized, and popular. Surprisingly though the protein is a bit less than a typical poke bowl, this place was pretty good. The bowl was fresh and they followed everything on the list. Compared to a lot of poke bowls, they don't really give you a nice portion on their fish which is a turn off since other places are more generous. For the price you pay for the bowl, you would think you would get more than the baby ice cream scoops. The place was a bit busy with online orders so be prepared to wait if you got a big order in their store. I would give a 5 star but since the "protein" ratio to the toppings was way smaller, I have to just give it 4 stars. The tamago was ok too, not something I can remember of how "good" it is compared to other poke shops that give you tamago. I would probably come back but I don't go to Oakland too often. read more

My coworker raved about this place to me for about a week, and finally this week, we had time to get some lunch so we checked this place out! I got the 3 protein with rice while she got the 2 protein with rice. To be honest, the 2 protein with rice would have been enough for me. You can choose 3 different types of fish, your type of rice and a side. The fill the bowl to nearly the top with goodies in a 3 protein. I also asked for extra ginger and they did not disappoint! I went with sushi rice while she went with brown rice. Both rice options are tasty! The sushi rice is just a bit more moist. The price for everything isn't too bad for poke, although poke is basically unassembled sushi, it does warrant it's premium pricing (in case you've never had poke before). As someone from SoCal, I struggled finding a good poke spot that is decently priced. A friend wanted to come here for lunch so I decided to try it out and my expectations were exceeded! Not only was the fish fresh and tasty, but they also provide a wide range of toppings. Unlike other poke spots, this place does not skimp on toppings! I didn't finish my bowl and it was still very tasty the next day. Usually poke leftovers have an unpleasant fishy smell & taste but this one didn't have that. There is street parking around the place. There are no seats since this spot is more of a grab and go spot than a sit down restaurant. The staff prepares the bowls at a timely manner. Was in Oakland for work and had to find something local as my vehicle was locked uo in a parking garage. I found Poke Zone literally down the street of my hotel. I ordered online (which wasn't too user friendly tbh), and based on my hunger, decided to go with the Super Poke Bowl. The Super Poke Bowl is a ginormous amount of everything they can stuff in it and i added Avocado lmao. Here's the description "Sushi rice, crab meat, spicy tuna, salmon, hamachi, tuna, albacore, and shrimp. Includes all toppings with spicy poke sauce." I made one change. Should I admit that I actually sat in my car and scarfed this entire bowl down because I couldn't stop eating it after I took. "one bite" to try it before driving off?! Welp, looks like I already admitted that. Whoopsies. I took an unprecedented break from eating poke for a long while. Not sure why I did it, but it just happened. But ever since I started eating it again, I've been searching for a place that knows how to hook it up the right way. The thing about poke for me is that you've gotta get it right, and it kinda has to be during the first time. Bad poke just like bad sushi will take me out. I just get really sick if I consume poke that isn't fresh. Luckily for me, the Poke Zone hit the spot. Came here for dinner pre-COVID and literally inhaled my bowl while sitting in my car. Maybe it was because I was damn near starving, but that sh*t just tasted so damn good. I came during the evening time on a weeknight, so there was nobody else inside except for me. This spot is located in the middle of Chinatown, so I can only imagine how it is during weekday lunchtime and on the weekends. This is basically a "take it to-go" kind of spot. Only a small counter inside for seating, and it ain't the most comfortable. Poke Zone also makes sushi rolls and is now serving ramen and udon (none of which I've tried yet). Compared to other poke spots that i've been too, they don't really have a lot of protein options. Their protein selection is pretty basic but still effective. As far as the toppings go, they do have a nice spread of the goodies. I ordered a 2 protein poke bowl with a double scoop of shrimp and added avocado. One thing that I will say is that the bowls are nicely portioned and the protein scoops are ample. There was so much shrimp in my lovely little bowl, and they really hooked it up with the avocado (mmm, my favorite). And of course, one of the most important elements; the freshness. Yeeessss, it was freeeesh and tasty! I like to try my food in the car when I get it to-go sometimes (especially if it's my first visit). This was one of the rare occasions where I just couldn't stop eating it. So I gave in. I just said ef it and inhaled the entire bowl whilst sitting in my car. I'm sure the people who walked passed me were like "Wtf is she doing?!". But never mind them because I was having a moment. Me and that bowl were gettin' it on... right there on the side of the street. In the car. And it was so damn good. Mmm. I want some more. But anyways... let's get back to reviewing. It's been a while since I got food and drinks from here. I had my food delivered from DoorDash once and the other is when I went to go pick it up myself. I tried their ramen and it was pretty good and I enjoyed their Lion King roll. Their sushi rolls I would always recommend. It's usually busy here so I do my best to be patient with the service here. It is a small place, so when it gets packed I would recommend standing outside until your order is ready. The drink I would usually get here is a jasmine green milk tea. It's a bit pricier than other poke places and their protein portions are not the most generous, but the quality of fish is so far beyond other places (I'd imagine because they also make sushi). In particular, a lot of poke places in the Bay have very mushy and fishy tasting tuna, but the tuna here had a great texture and fresh taste. They also have some pretty unique toppings compared to other places including fried tofu and tamagoyaki which I thoroughly enjoyed. Seaweed salad and crab salad are free. Not bad not bad. Happy to know this one stop shop is nearby! They have such a variety of options, from poke to sushi rolls to teriyaki rice bowls! I really enjoyed eating all the food we ordered this time and I am hoping to return as a customer because the convenience of having such a selection and being close makes it an easy decision. I couldn't give the full 5 stars because it did take us 30 minutes to get our food after ordering it at the front desk. I'm hoping since I took a menu home, I can call in an order and that way I don't have to wait so long for the food to be ready. Poke Zone is a good option when I need something relatively healthy and fresh. Been ordering from here for years and they've definitely improved their bowls over time. They lose a star from me because sometimes their topping distribution seems really unbalanced and fish quality can be a little inconsistent. Sometimes there's tons of wakame sometimes almost none. Plenty of edamame but only two slices of jalapeño, etc. The fish quality has gotten better here over the years. These days it's usually tasty. The free side of miso soup is always a nice touch too. Overall, the vegetables and fish were fresh and very flavorful with everything included. One downside is the fact that you can only get one sauce choice. The bowl with 3 proteins was supposed to have a mix of sushi rice and spring greens for the base. They definitely loaded the bowl with more rice, and the "spring greens" just seemed to be lettuce. A little disappointed with the low ratio of protein/sashimi, especially for paying extra to get more. Wish they had tako/octopus too, my favorite bonus protein to add to poke bowls. Regardless I still enjoyed the bowl, and even had some leftover for the next day (although it was mostly rice and vegetables). The bowl with 2 proteins had only two sauces added (ponzu and unagi), but it drenched the rice and made it seem very gooey and almost taste like teriyaki. Looking back, we probably should've added some other sauces to balance out the flavor - like spicy mayo. However I was intrigued by their wide selection of food other than poke - sushi, ramen, boba, etc. That'll probably be another reason why I'll give this place another shot. read more

Sushi rolls are also good here and so are the platters. It's better to order online and pick up so you won't have to wait long. The only thing about online ordering is they will most likely leave off an item or topping. On 2 occasions, I paid for 3 proteins and only got 2. I've messaged them about it the last time and they said they'll "investigate" but never heard from them again. First time I thought it was an honest mistake, but second time, same exact protein missing, something is up. I was charged each time and tipped. It was the tako (cooked octopus) and if they ran out or don't carry it anymore they should inform their customers who pay for it instead of just leaving it out and not compensating it with other proteins. Poke Zone is my go-to spot whenever I'm in Chinatown and am craving a poke bowl. They also offer pre-made bowls if you're in a hurry and sushi rolls, in addition to smoothies, milk teas, and shakes! Medium (2 scoops) is $10.45 and 3 scoops is $12.45. Avocado is sadly, not free, but they have a good selection of protein, toppings, and sauces. Miso soup is also one of the sides, but make sure to check for that! My boyfriend marked it on his order but didn't get his/forgot to check for it. All I had ordered was a 2-piece spam musubi. When it comes to musubi, how long do you think it takes to make 2 of them? 5 minutes max!? Well, for this location it takes 35 minutes. There was nobody in line when I ordered, and still it took 35 mins. 2 groups of ppl came in after me and ordered multiple poke bowls and drinks, and they all got all their food and drinks before I was served my measly 2-musubi's. The operational incompetence at this location was astounding! I asked at least 3 times about my miniscule order(every 10 minutes) and was stared at blankly as if I was speaking to an inanimate doll. We came here on a weekend night. We waited like 10 minutes so the wait is a little long but the food is fresh! We ordered the bento box - one with chicken Katsu and the other with pork Katsu. Our box also came with a salad, rice, miso soup and bubble tea. For about $15 per person and there's an option to tip. The food came out very fresh and crispy. The meat was well seasoned and tender and there were two different sauces that came with our food. The bubble tea was similarly delicious with very soft boba and light milk tea, though there were very few options for tea. The only thing lacking was proper seating. On cold days/evenings the only seating are the benches indoors, which seats like 4-6 people. On warm days or during the day, they do offer like 2-4 tables of seating outside. Poke bowl with 3 proteins ($13.50) Best combo: Yellow tail, salmon, ahi tuna, crab with unagi and mango sauces on sushi rice. Added all toppings. 3. Green dragon roll ($9.95) Full of tempura and crab! Layered avocado on top. I was skeptical of the white dressing but it ended up being unexpectedly tasty. It doesn't look good but it tastes good. This is the best combo of raw vs cooked, cold vs warm, roll vs poke. Postscript: there was one time over a year ago where I ordered Poke Zone for delivery, and got mild food poisoning.
