I'm happy that there is a Poke place near my office. I discovered it on my way back from dropping off a package at the FedEx spot next door. It was chilly so I stopped in for some Miso soup. The place is spacious with a few tables inside. The items in the poke bar looked fresh & tasty. I wasn't very hungry and just wanted some soup. The man that assisted me was genuinely nice. The serving was a little skimpy as my cup was only ¾ full but it was only $2.50 so I'm not going to complain. The soup was tasty and warmed me up. 4.5 Stars! I enjoy coming here a lot since it's the only good poke place near my office in DTLA. They give you a stamp card, where if you get 10 stamps you get a free medium bowl. I'm on my 4th stamp card! The style of ordering food is just like Chipotle, you move down a line and tell the food preparer what toppings you want. For a medium bowl, you get 3 scoops of fish. The fish you can choose from is salmon, albacore, spicy tuna or regular tuna. I usually get 2 scoops of salmon and 1 scoop of tuna. They also give you 1 large scoop of rice and 1 large scoop of salad (which you can substitute for another scoop of rice). After that you can add several different sauces (ponzo/house/spicy mayo), and toppings (kale/corn/onions/edamame/pineapple/cilantro/jalapeno/etc.) Then you get another round of toppings (masago/ imitation crab meat/seaweed). Then you have a final round of toppings which you can choose between nuts/sesame/furikake/etc.) The entire poke bowl as a whole tasted pretty high quality. The salmon and tuna tasted fresh and good. The toppings compliment the fish and rice very well. The sauces helps blend everything together. Overall a pretty high quality poke bowl. I ordered the RITUAL bowl from the app., which is the medium bowl with: corn, sweet onion, green onion, jalepeno, cilantro, cucumber, spicy mayo and I added crispy onion. I LOVED IT! The jalepeno added a great kick and their spicy mayo was way more spice than mayo, which I loved. Can't wait to go back and try something else! Okay finally, a good place to get poke in downtown LA! I have tried several, some that added poke to their menu and some that are straight up poke places, but now I think I have found my spot. This place is a chain so they know what they're doing. I got there around 11:30 and luckily there was no line. Got the medium bowl which was 3 proteins - spicy tuna, albacore and scallops. Base of half brown rice, half kale salad. Added green onion, cucumber, kale, seaweed, crab, edamame and masago. Did a mix of the wasabi shoyu and spicy mayo. $13 total and they packaged everything up really nice. Took this outside to eat and it was delicious! Two thumbs up! read more

It's hard to find good poke in town... It seriously is. Not as good as Pokinometry but still pretty good. One of the better ones in my opinion opened up on Cal Plaza in the Grand Arts District of DtLA. Like most poke joints, you pick your raw seafood, rice/salad/nacho base. They have brown rice too which is pretty good. Chose two types of sauces out of the 4, chose 2 out of the 3 salads from crab, seaweed, and cucumber. Then ginger, masago roe, and wasabi. The part I like are they're healthy with are the toppings, furikake, fried onions, fried garlic and crushed roasted peanuts. Furikake adds great flavor to the rice. Pricing isn't bad. 2 scoops of seafood is $9, 3 for $11, and 4 for $13. read more

The plaza is quite shaded from the high buildings, and there's a water show that takes place near it. So, the area can be somewhat of a tourist attraction. I got the medium bowl with salmon and spicy tuna- 3 scoops of protein, and in their house sauce & ponzu (pick 2 sauces). I like how this place gives you unlimited toppings; I got edamame, pineapple, cucumber and sweet onions. Then it's the salad portion which you pick 2 out of 3 - I got the cucumber salad and imitation crab. Lastly, I topped it with wasabi, ginger and massage. Avocado is $1 if you'd like. Finally, after a bazillion poke places opening up in Cali, there's a poke restaurant in the financial district! They just opened up, so serivce is little slow and you can see the lines backed up outside the entrance. However I'm confident they'll speed things up soon. I got the medium size with half brown rice and half mixed greens as my base. It was plenty of rice, so I'd never do full on rice if you're somewhat carb conscious. With medium, you get 3 scoops of whatever protein you want. A medium is about right for me and filled me up pretty well. The fish seemed to taste pretty fresh as I didn't see any worms or things moving around in my food. It was a bit confusing in regards to the toppings as my cool server gave me all the toppings/sides, while my coworker only got two sides because another server said you can only get two at most. So I'll have to verify next time which is right. This looks like a promising option in the weekly lunch rotation. read more

Ok I got to say the food here is good. Fresh raw fish, veggies and side dishes. Lines can get pretty long during lunch hour so come before noon. They have inside seating or you can sit outside in the courtyard area. The prices have gone up since the last time I was there by $2 per size. If I remembered correctly it's $10.80, $11.80 and $12.80. I usually order the small half rice and half spring mix. With this you get 1 base, 2 scoops of protein and 2 sides and toppings. I get the salmon and spicy tuna with the house sauce. The spicy tuna is more on the spicy side so if you can't handle spicy don't get it. I don't get the jalapenos and it's still very spicy. What really awes me is their sense of portions. When I order the small, half rice and half spring mix they give you one scoop of rice and a small bunch of spring mix. If you order just rice, they give you just the one scoop of rice. If you order the medium half and half, they only give you 1 scoop of rice and a small bunch of spring mix (same amount you get for the small) but in a bigger bowl....so you are basically paying an extra $1 for one more small scoop of protein instead of the more base and more protein they advertise on their online ordering system. So my recommendation, always get the small (half and half), it's the better deal otherwise go large. Never get just spring mix, they are very stingy on the greens. I work nearby so I've never had to deal with parking. They don't open on the weekends or evenings. They also offer a stamp card (10 times for a free bowl). read more

Also, it seemed as though the employees aren't too tedious when it comes to adding toppings and keeping them consistent, by scooping a full spoon and what not. I easily get full off medium poke bowls but by the end of this one, I was still hungry. Also, their portions aren't big at all. Edamame...small scoop. Masago...small scoop. Imitation crab...you get the picture. It's pretty cool they use containers that are biodegradable but the rice sticks on all the sides so it's hard to eat everything. Would I be back? Came to this joint for a quick lunch during work. I love poke so this was a simultaneously enjoyable and disappointing, which I'll explain. The fish and toppings and sauces were all delicious! I got three scoops of salmon with my toppings and house sauce, ponzu sauce, and spicy mayo. And like I said, this was sooo good! I especially liked that they diced their jalapeños so every bite had some spice without the kinda bitter jalapeño taste of rounds. The sad part was their rice. Bordering on inedible tbh. I tried to choke down most of it and still left quite a bit. It was dried out and hard like it was old and unevenly cooked. Some parts softer than others but even the soft parts were not actually totally soft. It might have just been a bad batch idk. You can pre-order yours via Ritual and get points but I like going downstairs and looking at what they put and how they put it. The owner is super friendly too. I always order - half salad, half brown rice, a scoop of salmon and a scoop of spice tuna. I put sesame oil in the mix then make sure I have a little bit of jalapano, seaweed, shredded crab, and put their house soyo(?) sauce. Then I finish it up with a little bit of fried garlic sprinkled on top of the order. Don't forget your saracha too on the side. Personally it completes the taste. Service was fast and the staff were friendly and helpful. The place is clean . There isn't many tables to eat but you can always take it to go. The way the poke was presented was not usual poke. It wasn't all mix so because of that I didn't think it would taste good, I was wrong. It was amazing it was so fresh and they have more options for the toppings. The price is affordable. This place is really clean and I like how the menu is really broken down for everyone to understand.
