There is spicy ahi and salmon hidden somewhere under all those extras
    Jon O.

Generous portions of sides and rice base that hide small servings of mediocre poke. Perhaps I shouldn't complain about how much cucumber, edamame, onions, nori, crab salad, and rice they give, but that's all filler. The poke should stand out, and unfortunately even the spicy tuna is bland and unflavorful. I appreciate the friendly greeting by the staff, but wondered why the interior was warm like a sauna.

I just ordered this meal from Pokework today through Lunch Drop delivery service. As the order look, looks pretty good. The macaroni salad was pretty good. A little spicy, but tasted good. Them chicken was ok. Nothing special about them. Kinda like they boiled it through a pot with water and put them onto a grill to get the charred. The teriyaki sauce wasn't what I expected from the sauce in Hawaii teriyaki chicken I had before. So I am Not a fan on this sauce. Overall this food was ok. Nothing special about it. I would say them macaroni salad was the better part from this meal. Also there wasn't any plastic fork as I requested.

Great poke place with a wide selection of different bowls, great service and all in a relatively open and spacious interior. Recommended!

Not great- order was kinda warm when it came - I ordered chili crunch shrimp and spicy tuna bowl and got neither- just plain kinda rubber fishy tasting shrimp and plain tuna. Asked for med sauce and got hardly any. Just a bummer...

So first off, let me just say that their poke is amazing and they have tons of fresh toppings for any type of poke bowl you could imagine. They have a variety of sauces to choose from and everything goes well together. I like it spicy and found a combo of their lava sauce and original poke is a great combo for me. So definitely a 4-5 when it comes to product. Here's where this shop fails... management. I've come here twice now and both times they are severely understaffed. Both times I came was during lunch hour so I expect it to be busy. Good management would account for that and staff up or temper expectations. I'll give them a pass for my first time. Second time I try ordering online so I could hopefully avoid that mess and just pick up. Well my experience was no different and actually worse! Online said the order would be ready at 12:14. I get to the shop around that time and see that there's only one person working. She's fiercely attacking the orders with tons of bags lined up. I figure one of them was mine so I sit patiently. She ends up completing the bowls after about 10 minutes. Mine is not in there. Apparently mine is in the overflowing register of receipts that she hasn't even looked at yet. So now she needs to attend to the customers waiting in line. When will she get to the backlog of online orders? Likely in about 20-30 minutes. In the meantime, I have plenty of time to write a review on Yelp. I understand things happen, but twice is generally too much with so many other options in the area. Maybe I'll come back. We'll see if I get to change my review with a better experience in the future.

    Kids chicken bowl

I haven't been back here for ages but the quality and craftsmanship has gone down for sure. We got the sushi burrito and a kids bowl. From the picture, you can see how much rice is in the kids bowl compared to everything else. The chicken was cut into small pieces but it looks like maybe 1-2 regular pieces of chicken. The burrito is not as big any more and it was messy. You can definitely see that it was wrapped loosely and it's about to fall apart. The filling wasn't distributed evenly either. One side would have some filling and the other side would have different ones... These 2 for $20+ The only thing that is decent is the flavor. It's not bad but I probably wouldn't be back here again anytime soon when there's other poke shops in the area

Ordered a poke bowl for lunch today via Doordash. Everything was fresh and fit my custom order! I was a little disappointed in the amount of protein in my bowl though (ordered spicy salmon/spicy tuna). Not sure if I got less protein since I had so many additional toppings, but I would still return since the protein I did have was tasty!

This is the second time I ordered a bowl from them along with Spam mushubi thru Uber. Both times they dont give me the Spam mushubi. I tried to call them but no one pick up. This is horrible. UbeEat prolly will think im faking since it happened TWICE.

I'd come here more often if I was in the area! Lettuce...good Seafood...good Service....good The spicy dressing was pretty spicy. They have an array of choices. I like the fact that many of the options are healthy. It's a clean place too.

Door-dashed a few poke bowls from here. You can order one of their menu combinations or build your own bowl! The regular sized bowls (2 proteins) were all around $15 with no add-ons. Great variety of toppings. I like how you can have the option to "torch" your poke for those that aren't huge fans of raw fish. They have other items like poke-rittos, misubis and pineapple upside down cake too, I want to try all those some day!

TL;DR: they were out of several items midday on a Sunday. Parking: street side or garage. Atmosphere: feels like a Chipotle but for poke. Menu: posted on the back wall, pretty straightforward. Service: go and start your order on the left and work your way down to the register, pay, seat yourself, bus your own table. #4 Yuzu Ponzu Salmon: salmon was good but pieces were on the small side and there wasn't very much of it. Nothing really wowed me about the bowl to be honest. They were out of green onions. Miso Soup: not too flavorful, missing the green onions and tofu was sparse. They have a miso soup dispenser that dispenses the broth and all they do is add seasoned and tofu into it. But they were out of seaweed and green onions. Coco Mango Haupia: it was out when I was there. Apparently it's only made once a week or so by an outside vendor and when it's gone, it's gone. It's not made in house so it's not guaranteed that you get a fresh one made that day. Drink fountain is closed but their flavored teas are open. I recommend 3/4 lemonade with 1/4 hibiscus tea.

One of my friends and I have already had their location in Georgetown countless times so we were happy to recommend our choices for our other friend this Friday evening around 7pm. Welp, we came into very full seating inside an extremely tight yet cozy seating area if it weren't for all the noise from there being so many people inside. It was so full and more people kept lining up behind us that we decided to do takeout and eat our food on the hood of my car despite spaces opening up as we waited about 20 or so minutes for our food... did I mention the parking lot for this place was nearly full and spots were very unforgiving in elbow room? Also that it's peak dinner time? Anyway, you place your order on a lone kiosk up front which did contribute to the really long line forming near the outside entrance. Like their Georgetown location, they offer a ton of hearty donburi and some appetizers and soup. Staff were a little rushed with some orders and forgot to give me utensils when I requested them through the kiosk but this didn't affect my overall experience, as I went back and they were more than happy to give them to me. We got their unagi donburi, which consists of a ton of broiled freshwater eel with an umami seasoning and tender juiciness, all on top of a huge bed of rice and with some radish. One of my friends instead got their una-gyu donburi which is a mix of unagi and sukiyaki beef, though that means we all got their unagi. Eel wasn't too salty, and scales are very fine and small that you can just eat it as is. This was a warming, hearty meal that sat very well with me and my friends. For this location and the one in Georgetown, I am most certainly coming back for some more!

But the lunch omakase special is what I really wanted I think. But even so. The poke bowl was mixed. I even had a clump that looked like it was the burnt part from leaving it on the cooker for too long and it couldn't bite it. I know this place is for the fish, but there's a bare minimum expectation on rice quality. And the fish itself was good? Maybe cuz it's the poke and not the omakase (so mixed chopped pieces) but there were pieces that tasted super fresh and delicious and then there were pieces that had so much tendon I couldn't bite through it. The folks there were super nice and friendly especially since I had no idea what to order. Just wish I was more delighted by the meal, especially cuz it was like $18 poke bowl. When I first stepped in the door, I was so glad I brought a light jacket with me even though it was 80 degrees outside. I'm not sure why, but the restaurant had the A/C turned up so high that even the people eating next to us had their puffer coats on. Even with my coat on though, I was still cold. The interior is small and modern. However, the tables and menus were extremely and unpleasantly sticky. The soy sauce bottle was also empty at our table. I ordered the HAPPY HOUR CHIRASHI BOWL ($22 which is half the size and price of the usual $44 Chirashi Bowl off their main menu). It came with two pieces of salmon, two pieces of albacore, two pieces of hamachi, and two pieces of some other tuna (or maybe it was mackerel) plus tamago (egg), and Ikura (salmon roe) on top of their signature purple rice. The presentation was nice, but the fish quality lacked. The albacore in particular was so chewy I had trouble biting through it and so I knew it wasn't fresh; I ate one piece but left the other in the bowl because I didn't want to chance it. Regardless, my stomach regretted it later in the evening and the next day... Service was fine, but we had to waive down the waiter both to order and get our check. When he asked if I wanted a box for my piece of albacore, I told him it was too chewy and he said sorry and walked away. Overall, I was unfortunately disappointed by my experience at Kuro. For a recommended place on Yelp, I expected a better environment and fresh fish. Overall: 2/5 for food, 3/5 for service, 2/5 for atmosphere
