I consider myself a bit of a poke connoisseur (I loved it long before it was a trend) and was excited to stumble upon Pokeworks at lunch time! I get poke every chance I can. It took a while before I was served and appeared they were short staffed (not the best at lunchtime in a busy shopping center/work lunch locale). I don't mind waiting, but I was never even acknowledged or greeted. As for the food itself, the fish is chopped up pretty sloppy, not in nice cubes like every other place I have been to, so it is not very appealing to the eye. They have the standard toppings and I was impressed with some new ones I hadn't yet seen anywhere else (like mango and lotus chips), but the one BIG downside that ruined my entire meal was that the rice base was piping hot, so it partly cooked the poke and made it warm. A very solid poke place in Irvine. I ordered a regular bowl (you get two scoops of protein) with organic brown rice as a base, tuna and salmon for meats, and all the available toppings. The food tasted fresh and I like that they have tangerine and mango dices to liven up the fresh meal experience. Some interesting options I don't see at my usual poke places are the ogo seaweed and hijiki seaweed (I normally see one option) and blanched kale. The Hawaiian Classic sauce (ginger sesame vinaigrette) had a pleasant kick to it. This plaza on Irvine Center Drive typically has a lot of parking and there are a ton of other asian food eats as well as dessert options so I like the location. Though I ordered a regular, the amount of food could be a large at some places. Very happy, will stop by for poke again next week. Service was very friendly. read more

This is probably one of my favorite poke spots after I came here for lunch during work hours. There is usually a line during lunchtime but it's not too bad and they're able to service everyone really fast. There are tables to eat inside as well as a bunch of tables in the plaza outside. They have 4 different options -- poke bowl, poke salad, poke burrito, or poke noodles. In the two times that I've come here, I've only gotten the poke bowl. I usually get the brown rice (I normally hate brown rice but I figured I wanted to be healthier and the brown rice here is actually really good because once they pour the poke on top, the yummy sauce gets mixed with the rice), and the salmon and tuna. When I came yesterday they were offering a free additional protein - I'm not really sure what it was but the sign said scallops. I got it because, hey why not, it's free. They offer a bunch of mix-ins to mix with your poke as well as 6 different sauces I believe. I've tried the wasabi aioli which was amazing and I tried to go for a healthier sauce the second time so I tried the spicy ginger but I think that one was a little too sweet for my liking but it was still good. They also offer a ton of toppings and I usually go for the crab salad, seaweed salad, and Thai chili which is super spicy but good. Thy also have about 6 different crunchy toppings as well and then you can finally pay for your order after you finish building your bowl. It's about $10 including tax for the regular size bowl which consists of 2 proteins and the regular size bowl is definitely enough food for almost anyone. They don't skimp on anything here -- they give a lot of fish and a lot of free toppings and mix-ins so your bowl gets packed up pretty high and I'm usually super full for the whole day after eating here for lunch. I think it's definitely worth it especially compared to other poke places that skimp on everything. I would definitely be coming back here again. read more

Came in around 3:30 PM and didn't see any workers on the poke stations. Saw a bunch of workers gathered around the table hanging out and speaking in their native language. Looked like they were on their break, but guess not. Ordered a large poke bowl that came out to $13.50. The person creating my bowl kept skimping on the mix-ins. I would ask for a lot cucumber and he would throw in about 4 pieces. I would ask for more and he kept throwing in a few pieces. I don't think he understood how much I meant by a lot. In addition, I used my yelp check-in to get a free scoop of spicy salmon. It was pretty gross because it was mushed up salmon sitting in a pool of greasy orange oil. Fantastic poke house! So many options, and you'll never go wrong whether you order a pre-set combination or make your own bowl. The facility is always clean and the staff are friendly and accommodating. I live in Huntington Beach and frequently have to order my poke bowls to-go, and they're so flexible whenever I ask for my sauces on the side so my bowl doesn't get soggy on the drive home. Yes I am definitely a fan of this poke shop! I am new here from out of town and was searching for a good poke place! A friend brought me here and I was a little spectacle of it, but it definitely reached my expectations! The portions are great for their price. I usually get large (3) scoops protein in poke places but because they are a little pricer than most, I decided to get the regular (2) scoops of protein. It was more than what I needed and definitely made me content in the end. They have a wide range of toppings and really great sauces to dress your protein! Avocado is extra, sadly, but it's all good because everything else made up for it! The fish was decent and toppings were good, but it was definitely much more pricier than other competitors in OC. Choices of protein were limited, I think there were about 6 choices (including the chicken). They gave you a good amount of rice and the seaweed salad was free. The toppings and crunch were plenty aswell. BUT, $13.50 for 3 scoops of fish felt like a total rip off when you could get MORE scoops for cheaper at other places. (e.g. Poke Dot, Uroko Cafe, Pokinometry, etc.) Overall this place is comparable to the competitors I mentioned before but is definitely much much pricier, I would only come back for the location as it's one of the only few build your poke places in Irvine. read more

Ordered online, large and regular poke burritos. Delivered burritos were the same size, no difference whatsoever! Both are regular, mind you. I know their correct sizes. That happened two times already. Also seems the ingredient portions in burritos and bowls are smaller than if you order in person. Just because it's online and some third company delivers? Otherwise the food tastes good. Just not happy about size cheats... probably won't ever order from them now. It's ok. Regular bowl is only 2 scoops for $10 and a large you get 3 scoops for $13. On the pricier side considering other poke places give you 3 scoops for a regular and 5 scoops for a large at the same price if not for less. Update 9/23: After posting my original review, the mgr invited me back for a complimentary bowl, so I decided to give it another try. The pricing is still the same BUT I was given larger portions than my original visit, so I decided to change my rating. If what I received on my second visit is normal... I've been to several poke places now, and this place hands down have one of the best selections. I love how generous they are with the toppings, unlike some places have set limits on how much you can get. Service is always fast and efficient. A tiny little bit pricier than other places I've been, but given how huge the portion is, I think it's way more than fair. My favorite Poke place hands down. read more

Average poke at best and I've been dozens of em. Biggest gripes are the first don't taste as fresh as the best spots, the sauces aren't the best, and they charge for avocado when they already charge 10 bucks for 2 scoops. Pokedot down the street is way better. read more

Love love love! I could eat hear every week. The portion sizes are big and it's great that they offer actual sushi rice. It's a little on the pricier side compared to some other poke joints around the area, but it's right across the street from me so it's worth it. My only concern is I wish they offered spicy tuna, and sometimes the service can be inconsistent. I've had times where the employees are friendly but also times where they seem annoyed. Overall it's my #2 favorite, Oroku Cafe in Costa Mesa is still #1 for me. read more

WOW.. Love this place. I have always been a sushi fan and didn't think too much of the poke craze until I tried Pokeworks. Its basically sushi on steroids but at a fraction of the price. I cant put my finger on it, but something about fresh tuna and salmon cubes on top of a bed of brown rice and add a bunch of good tasting options such as seaweed salad, avocado, and some crunch to make my day. The portions are huge compared to the other poke places I've gone and for under 10 dollars before tax, this is definitely my new go to place for lunch/dinner or just a snack. I came to Pokeworks because it had such good reviews and ratings on Yelp but unfortunately I had a horrible experience. It took over 30 minutes for them to make my Ohana Family set, this was not because it was busy but because they didn't know how to put it together. The Ohana set is just a deconstructed Poke bowl. While I waited, they served around a dozen customers and still did not complete my order. The set cost $40 and was not worth it, from taking a long time for them to complete my order to the amount of food that was given. Honestly, I would not come back here again and would not recommend it either. I would've been better off going to a place closer to my house and buying two bowls instead. read more

My usual poké place was closed today so I decided to try this place out. Sushi and poké are one of my favorite foods and I know good quality fish when I see it. The fish here was not fresh, it smelled fishy and had a lot of connective tissue. It was also so bland and not flavorful, which was surprising with all the sauce that was drenched on it. Very unappetizing. I got a salmon bowl and was not able to even finish half of it. I had to throw it out. About 40 min after I ate my stomach did not feel good at all and I threw up. It's not cheap ($13 for a large), but it's very sizeable and includes many items free that others charge for (including mango, seaweed salad, and crab).
