I didn't want to have a lot of expectation here since I have been to other poke places, so I kept myself open to what they offered. They have a simple and clean presentation to their restaurant and food. Their menu was displayed on multiple TV screens turned sideways, which I thought was a nice touch. One screen was not working properly when I arrived, but that was quickly remedied. They have three ways to have your poke prepared: bowl, salad, or burrito. I opted for the burrito. I was asked if I wanted a seaweed or soy wrap, and I chose seaweed. They placed a sheet of seaweed on a tray and pressed a button. The tray slid the seaweed in and out popped the seaweed with a thin layer of sushi rice. I've never seen a machine do that. I began choosing the contents of my burrito. Ahi tuna and scallops, diced mango, mandarin orange slices, cucumber, sriracha aioli, seaweed salad, crab salad, and garlic crisps. This thing was huge! I was surprised when they rolled it up and didn't rip the seaweed. Kudos to them. Even though the burrito was rather large, it wasn't overly filling. The tuna and scallops were fresh and tender. The mango and cucumber were a nice contrast of pickled and sweet. The sriracha aioli gave a nice presence of heat, but was not too hot. The garlic crisps added great texture to the burrito. The seaweed wrap was not delicate, nor was it thick and difficult to chew. I also had a miso soup. I was given a cup with tofu and seasoning and was directed to place my cup under the machine and press the button. I thought it was odd, so I went to look for this magical miso soup machine and press the button. To my surprise, the soup was dispensed to a comfortably warm temperature that I could enjoy without having to wait too long for it to cool down. Overall, they have a simple presentation and finish with a quality product. I will return. read more

The service is very slow so perhaps they need to staff up during their busier times. I noticed an inconsistency in the amount of food served, even on the same tray. But to my satisfaction, they were very accommodating when I pointed it out and they gave me extra amounts of the items that seemed skimpy. Things that stood out? They offer quinoa ($1 extra) as an alternative to brown or white rice. No spicy tuna available though. Three tea options (light on sugar the way I like) to choose from. They offer a "burrito" which is rice on seaweed paper and the fillings rolled up inside, really like a gigantic sushi roll. I'd come if I was craving a sushi burrito but would probably not go out of my way to come here since there are so many other poke places around. Be sure to check in for a free soup! For around $10, you can't go wrong with a Sushirito- I would highly recommend a second person to help you finish half, otherwise you'd be committing gluttony. I have been to quiet a few poke places but this one definitely has some special additions that I have never seen. They have kale, lotus crisps and even chicken. The staff is friendly and tries to be as efficient as possible. The line can get busy and it's hard for the staff to hear you over the glass. Just be patient and speak up so that everyone can enjoy their poke burrito. A tip I have that would make the poke burritos even better would be to mix the protein in a bowl with the sauce as the burrito can be a little bland. This location is a do-it-yourself poke place like H2O. It looks pretty new. It is located in the food court area with the Baskin Robbins and Panda Express in Culver Plaza. The procedure here is that one orders what one wants, selects rice, and adds toppings on the way down and also requesting the amount of sauce. Unfortunately, my friend went after me, so I couldn't observe what she was doing so I had to guess what the procedure was. From my (limited) understanding of what was going on, the difference between the large and the regular is that the large includes one additional scoop of protein, anything that does not have a price tag on it can be added without a surcharge, and my friend requested some additional amount of a certain topping which did not incur a surcharge, so I'll have to imitate her the next time we go here. The avocado had a price tag on it. The lotus root chips are extremely good. And so is the sauce. At the present moment they have a coupon on the Irvine Company website for buy one get one half off. (Oddly enough, there's also one for buy one get one 30% off, but I'd rather have the additional 20% discount.) I think that's pretty good if one orders the regular size. read more

As a first-time poke diner, the experience at Pokeworks was great. I was guided through the myriad possibilities of a Chipotle-style build your own bowl to great effect. I leaned toward a sushi style combo, with dressings on the side. Perfect way to test sample various flavor combos. Just another build-your-own poke shop. The servers were nice, but the tall glass panel separating the customers from the food along with the music made it hard for the servers to hear our orders. I found myself, and other people in line having to repeat their orders multiple times. I ordered a regular, build-your-own poke bowl ($9.99) which, unfortunately, only comes with 2 proteins. The large ($12.99) just for an additional protein makes the bowls here expensive. The cut of the fish was rather small and didn't seem very fresh. However, they were really generous when it comes to toppings (aside from avocado being $1.50 extra). They had a huge variety of toppings not typically offered at other poke places such as mango, lotus chips, etc. I also ordered a hot miso soup ($2.50) where they just added green onions and tofu in a cup. I assumed the miso soup is unlimited as they had a miso soup dispenser by the napkins and not behind the counter. The miso soup tasted like your typical soybean paste, but at least the soup was hot as it came straight from the dispenser. Overall, if you like having a lot of different toppings with your poke, then this is the place for you. If the fish quality and protein portion is more important, then you should definitely find a different poke place. read more

They have every topping you could want on your bowl and offer different sauces that no other poke spot has. Their serving size is very generous and more than worth it for the price. So I am updating my review because after I gave a not so great review the manager reached out and had someone deliver me my order that she made herself! My first experience I ordered through door dash and both the bowls were way too salty also not the right toppings I ordered. After saying I wouldn't return the manager messaged me saying I hope you give us another shot and I will have two new bowls delivered to you whenever you want! I was blown away how kind they were to do that you just don't get that type of service anymore. They guy who delivered it wouldn't even take my tip and just apologized and said I hope I enjoy. Well the bowls were great this time!! Perfect amount of each topping, fresh fish, and great sauce they put on the side. this place usually is a hit for me, i will say the salmon is too fishy and does not taste good so i always opt for tuna. i came here on saturday night an hour before closing and as i'm walking in, it seemed like they might have gotten over a mini rush. i placed an online order ahead and saw many people waiting (including me) for their orders. 5 minutes in, there was no customers ordering, just customers waiting for their online orders. but the entire time i was there, the staff was mostly talking to each other the entire time and it took about 5-10 minutes for my one bowl to come out and half of the add-ons i ordered were not in the bowl! i was on a 30 min break too so i didn't have time to come back in and ask them to remake it. please make sure your staff is more attentive rather than socializing and goofing around which is what they were doing at the time they were completing all of these orders! especially be more attentive if you are charging more for specific add-ons and it turns out to be missing! read more

Parking can be pretty difficult to find during peak hours, but this place is so good! I love the fried lotus add on.
