California Coast with half spring mix and half white rice
Isobel P.

I was across the street at the Hammer Theatre for a conference and they offered a discount at various restaurants in the area, including Spoonfish. Since poke is one of my favorite foods, this was great news! I got the California Coast bowl in a large size, which includes four different kinds of protein and lots of of other goodies! I recommend getting the half spring mix and half white rice. They have a beverage case with drink options near the cash register - sparkling water, cold teas, etc. The food was solid and I liked that their soy sauce packets are from San Jose!! Staff was very nice and they gave me more seaweed salad when I requested extra. It's not huge inside but they have outdoor seating; just a heads up that only one table is in the shady area. It would be nice if they could get some umbrellas up for the rest of the tables!

Spoon fish Poke located in San Jose, right to sjsu, is delicious with a good variety of proteins. Sides come free such as crab salad, edamame, pineapple and many more. The price is around $20 for a bowl of poke with 4 proteins and the quality is very good and the location is convent if you ever are hungry after class

Dust

Staff are nice, quick service, good food. HOWEVER, they really need to dust the countertops. Kinda gross. Who knows what dust falls in the food

They have a pretty okay selection of seafood to choose from, a pretty okay poke spot around the San Jose State campus. Once you figure out your combination, this place can work for you.

I decided to get some poke, and this spot is close by, so some friends and I go. The shop is small with barely any seating, but there are 4 tables outside. The fish was fresh, and the number of choices for toppings was great. The process to build the bowl is fast, and the service was kind. They even gave me a bit extra on one of my toppings without charging me. All in all it was a large portion for the large bowl with 4 different proteins and lots of toppings. The refresher drinks are also really delicious.

Fish is tasty but why do you charge someone extra for avocado that looks like this?

Fish is good. I was charged extra for avocado that looks like this. I still finished my bowl, but picked out the avocado.

Very friendly server

HIGHLY Recommended!! The portions was very generous and the quality of the poke, especially the salmon, tasted very fresh. Their combination of house sauce and citrus sauce was absolutely delightful. The restaurant was very clean and the server was really friendly. Overall, a great experience and would definitely come back.

Conveniently located near SJSU. The place was clean and staff was friendly. Solid choices of protein, sides, and toppings. They also have some unique sauces as well other than the basic spicy mayo and ponzu. Overall, good poke spot!

Very generous portion for the poke bowl I received and the taste did not disappoint at all! Not to mention how tasty their sauces are! I recommend the signature sauce combined with the togarashi (spicy mayo base). The service was very fast and friendly as well. Fully recommend this place for a healthy and hearty bowl of poke!

Regular Bowl with 2 scoops of salmon, 1 scoop of albacore

I love spoonfish poke!! This is one of my favorite poke spots in the bay. They're definitely not stingy with the fish and their ingredients are super fresh. I usually get a regular bowl with white rice; 2 scoops of salmon, 1 scoop of albacore; edamame, masago, seaweed salad (extra $1.75) and all the dry toppings except for the chips, I get the spicy aoili and the ponzu sauce. Today the bowl was really salty, a little saltier than normally but it was still really good. I'm sad that they didn't have the miso soup today because I like washing down my raw fish!

Stumbled upon Spoonfish when I was working near SJSU. It was a little busy during lunch time and only one (occasionally two) workers in the front. They had a nice selection of fish and topping, all being fresh. I got a regular size bowl that comes with 3 scoops with all the sauces. The sauces complement each other and it wasn't too saucy. Although the flavor and fish were good, the price was higher than other poke places in SJ. I found $18+ for a regular bowl (with no additional add-ons) to be pretty steep and the scoops were small. The toppings to fish ratio was very off.

Very tasty poke. Their signature sauce brings out the salad and fish flavors. Average pricing for a bowl.

The seafood was well-seasoned with a nice spicy kick, and our noodles were very garlicky (in a good way). The chicken tenders were also flavorful, but a bit dry (I still like it btw). The only small downside was that the crawfish had a bit of a fishy taste, but it wasn't enough to ruin the meal since the seasoning was still really good. The shrimp, on the other hand, were delicious and cooked perfectly. The restaurant is spacious with plenty of seating, great for groups. It was pretty busy when we arrived, which says a lot about how popular the place is, but we were still able to enjoy our meal comfortably. The service was efficient despite the crowd, we didn't have to wait for too long. Overall, we had a great experience and I'd definitely come back if I'm in the area again!

The garlic fries were cooked to the perfect level of crispiness, while the lobster garlic noodles were flavorful, savory, and packed with garlic goodness. The seafood itself was fresh and good quality, but I found the House Special Mild sauce a little underwhelming. I was hoping for more depth and flavor, but most of what I tasted was a mild kick of heat. While it wasn't bad, it didn't have the rich, buttery, and well-seasoned flavor profile that I typically look for in a seafood boil sauce. Service was great throughout our visit. We were seated promptly, our food arrived quickly, and any requests we had were fulfilled without issue. The staff was attentive and made the dining experience smooth and enjoyable. I also appreciated the restaurant's nautical theme. The decor featured fishing nets, ship-inspired accents, and other sea-themed elements that helped create a fun and immersive atmosphere. Overall, I'm glad we gave this place a try. The garlic noodles and fries were delicious, and the service was excellent. While I would probably choose other seafood boil spots in the future, this was still a solid experience and worth trying at least once.

What a great dining experience in Santana Row! I'm honestly surprised I walked past this restaurant…read moreso many times before finally trying it today. Everything we ordered was delicious, and a few dishes were truly outstanding. What we ordered: Uni Pasta: My absolute favorite, and it seems to be their most popular dish for good reason. The sauce was incredibly creamy, rich, and packed with umami flavor. I don't even want to think about the calories, but it was definitely worth every single one. Charred Garlic Oysters: My second favorite and the biggest surprise of the meal. I didn't have high expectations for this dish, but the moment the oyster hit my mouth, it just melted. Smoky, flavorful, rich, and absolutely scrumptious. Oyster Shooter: Also very great. It came with oyster, uni, and a quail egg yolk in soju. Smooth, briny and fun to eat. Tuna Tartare: Probably the most disappointing dish of the night. If I came back, I'd skip this one. It was the blandest tartare I've ever had and lacked the seasoning and flavor I was expecting. Lobster Garlic Noodles: Delicious, but cracking the lobster ourselves was the downside. We appreciated getting all the lobster meat, but breaking down the shell took so much effort that by the time we finished, we had already lost our appetite. We ended up leaving 2/3 of the noodles behind. Next time I'd rather skip this dish or just asked to have the lobster meat removed from the shell. Overall, there were some standout dishes that I'd happily order again and a couple that I wouldn't. Even so, it was a very enjoyable dining experience, and I'd definitely recommend giving this place a try!

We got the Vietnamese coffee, rainbow roll, truffle crab garlic noodles, seafood pasta, and the rack of lamb. FIrst of all, the vietnamese coffee was reallyyyy sweet, and the coffee was mostly watered down by dairy in my opinion. You gotta wait for the ice to melt to dilute the sweetness for a good sip. The rainbow roll was good! The sashimi was refreshing. Nothing special, but it was good. The truffle crab garlic noodles was a personal favorite. EMC was really generous with the crab meat and the truffle. Each bite of noodle had a good amounts of crab with it. One suggestion about this dish is about the scallions. There are so little, I would suggest to either put more or completely not use it at all. When this dished was served, there were around 4 pieces of chopped scallions.. it wouldn't even make a difference if they hadn't used it at all. The seafood pasta was again, good. There's nothing special about the taste, except for the fact that there were a lot of seafood. May seafood pastas I've had was probably 80% pasta, 20% seafood. This one is probably 60% pasta and 40% seafood. Lastly, the rack of lamb! I have one comment. It was super well done. I requested medium, but it fully cooked, which made it really dense. However, I love how there were three toppings on the side which you can choose to season your meat. And one last thing, the food took really long to be served. We waited for around thirty minutes, though it wasn't even a busy day. Despite all of this, it was a good experience overall.

We are ALWAYS so impressed with the yummy food (we always get 2lbs shrimp/2lbs crawfish combo in Medium Cap't Loui sauce with garlic noodles, garlic bread, and Cajun fries). Wifey and I are stuffed after this but will cleanse our palate with complimentary popsicles in the freezer by the entrance. So yes, the seafood boil and food is absolutely phenomenal. They are true servant leaders and I noticed they take care of each and every patron as if they were family members or royalty. I usually go to Cajun Bistro for seafood boil, but I find the quality of the seafood there to be inconsistent, which made me want to try a new place. I got the 4lb combo with crawfish (frozen, fresh is $5 extra), shrimp, and clams, including corn, sausages, and potatoes. We also got garlic noodles and a calamari basket with cajun fries. For seafood boil sauce, we opted for the cajun instead of lemon pepper. I wasn't sure if I would finish everything, but it was INHALED. I really like the seafood quality here, but sauce-wise, I prefer Cajun Bistro for the garlic butter sauce. Cap't Loui does not offer that sauce, but it was still delicious overall. Service is timely and our food came fast, so thats a big plus. Only complaint I have here is that I wish there was more sauce in the bowl. The bowl had too much food, so I couldn't dip or soak my seafood in the flavor.
