Did a search on Yelp, and it led us to Poki Roll in Cypress. 5 stars with over 300 reviews looks like a clear winner to me!! We were their first customers of the day so no line!! Yay! They are not a traditional sit down and be served restaurant. You go up to the counter and place your order. They make sushi rolls, but we were here to try their poke!! I'm glad they have the create your own Poke option. Reminds me of Subway, Chipotle, and the create your own pizza places. They have 5 stations (steps) to the process. Station 1 Choose your Base. I chose half brown rice and half chips. Asked for the chips on the side so as not to be soggy. Station 2 What would you like? I wanted everything (avocado, onion, seaweed salad, crab meat, and cucumber) in that station. Station 3 Pick your Poki. I got me a Medium size bowl which allows for 3 scoops of the Poki of your choice. I picked a scoop each of tuna, salmon, and yellowtail. Station 4 Choose Sauce. I tried their Ponzu sauce. Station 5 Top it off. Toppings include green onion, yellow radish, cilantro, yamagobo, wasabi, plus several others. As you can see, there are a ton of combinations that you can create!! My wife and I both liked our creations!! All the ingredients were fresh and yummy. They even give free Miso soup. The restaurant was spotless and roomy. There are a couple of separate rooms that you can book for a little private gathering. Service was spot on. Affordable prices. The staff and owners are really nice. Very helpful and wasn't overly concerned with the extra scoop of veggies I wanted. They have a large selection of toppings to choose from and that's pretty cool. They also have a lot of other menu options aside from poke like sushi and cooked items. The combo offerings are a plus. Small poke bowl + smoothie/slush or base roll or udon soup. Tried around 5 different premium rolls already and it is so good! Also, tried the Poki bowls. I don't really like raw fish itself, but the mix of everything made it delicious! The fish, vegetables, and the toppings are very fresh and nice to eat. One good thing is, they also sell boba! The boba tastes so good and the tapioca itself is so chewy. It isn't too sweet and it has the perfect amount of taste. Overall, the service is great! The chef is kind and caring. Came here on a Saturday after hearing great things about if from my friend Les S. Went with the combo, which is small Poki bowl & regular roll. For my Poki bowl, I went with albacore and yellowtail. Everything was super fresh and had great flavor. For my roll, I went with the Mexican roll, which is crab, Jalepeno, avocado and crunchy flakes. Loved this, the crunch was incredible. SYSTEM: Order from the menu Seat yourself SERVICE: There's a menu that you can order off of near the top of the bar area where the food is made. They have the options of rolls or the Poki Bowls. I normally go here for the Poki Bowls and I usually just let the owner (I presume) know the bowl size I want, the base, and toppings. Afterwards, you just go down the line and let him know yes or no of what you want. At the end, you pay and have the option of getting a drink as well. You can either sit in or take out. Everyone is super nice, so that's a plus :) Joseph and his mother are SUPER nice! They're really fun to talk to as well :) What I love about them is if something happens, they own up to their "mistakes." Most other places, especially Korean owned will say sorry and that's it. They go above and beyond :) P.S. they're very generous! Dont be a douche to them. FOOD: For being a hole in the wall and fairly new, I think in terms of quality, its awesome. I crave poki every week. Its ridiculous, because I don't even get it that often... as i would LIKE. Tucked away in a little strip mall in the corner of what appears to be an old bar/lounge with karaoke rooms. It has been converted into a sushi/poki restaurant. Karaoke rooms converted into quiet study rooms or group dining that leaves the rest of the restaurant at an inside voices volume. As my first time here, I was graciously welcomed by the staff and was assisted in creating my own poki. The young lady at the cash register helped me with every step. Clear face mask and everything. First you choose the rice, then you load the bounty. I ordered: White Rice, Seaweed, Spicy Crabmeat, Regular Crabmeat, Spicy Tuna, Spicy Yellowtail, Spicy Salmon, dried seaweed, Avocado, Spicy Mayo Sauce .... other sauces..., carrots, Jalapenos, cucumbers, and a few other things that i cant even remember. But my stomach will remember this meal. It will remember it well until the next time i visit. All the ingredients tasted fresh and well made. Sometimes after eating food that is all mixed together, I actually get a little lethargic, but it was perfectly portioned out in a medium sized bowl all for under $10. Yes. under $10. I slightly wished I got a large but my appetite will catch up with me soon, and the next time will be soon to try more items off their menu. I may need to bring many more friends so i can try more things at once. But I highly doubt I will be using those old karaoke rooms, as the flavors of each ingredient sings in harmony in this meal well enough for all of us. Came for a quick dinner on a Monday night! We ordered a Teriyaki Chicken bowl & a Poke bowl. They also have a $1.99 deal for an 8 piece California roll if you post a review on yelp! The roll was actually really good!! The chicken bowl is typical teriyaki chicken, nothing too special but we enjoyed it. My poke bowl was pretty good but I think I put too many sauces in it and it was a little salty. Overall, if I were in the area again I'd come back and want to try more sushi dishes!! read more

Yum yum yum ! Finally a place in cypress that has poke!!! And this place this good and super fresh ! The restaurant is huge and has private rooms! Great for studying during the day. What I love about this place is that the "study private rooms" are quiet. My boyfriend really wanted sushi rolls, but I wanted a bowl of poke. With a perfect 5 stars review on Yelp, we decided to compromise by trying out Poki Roll. My expectations were probably way too high upon entering this establishment. Yes, the staff were friendly and attentive, but the poke and everything else we ordered were just so mediocre. I personally don't understand the layout and decor of Poki Roll. It was pretty hard to distinguish where to order food, where to go pick up food, and who to talk to with 5-6 staff members standing behind the counter. Upon paying for food, I see a little table on the right side with trays, plastic bags, and utensils. Do I reach over the counter and grab my bowl or do I wait for the staff to serve me? I had no idea. We were then asked if we wanted miso soup after paying for everything. Um is it free? Does it come with our food? Again, I had no idea LOL. I've never felt more lost at a restaurant. As for food, I ordered a small poke bowl with white rice, all tuna, and whatever toppings I decided to add. It was probably the most bland poke bowl I have ever eaten. The original sauce and ponzu is not overpowering, but the fishiness of my tuna is. Furthermore, Poki Roll tried to incorporate a Korean twist but it's just not working with the pickled radishes, bean sprouts, and colorful masago eggs. Poki Roll is just trying way too hard to please its customers. Doing less is actually doing more in this case. read more

This poke is excellent. This place has the most available toppings out of all the two dozen or so poke places I've been to. They even have 3 kinds of masago which I have not seen at other joints. Some of the toppings I don't bother with but they are available. All the fish I tried we're fresh tasting and the sauces were very good. The spicy mayo tastes just how I like it and not sweet how a couple places have made it. I did think they were less giving on the rice and toppings than a couple other poke places. I would rate it as 4* but giving 1/2* for the most toppings and cool cafe type vibe to the place plus they offer sushi rolls and then I round up to 5*. I'll be back for more. read more
