I was underwhelmed with this place. The decor is nice and the place is clean and at least the fish was fresh so that's a plus but otherwise, everything else was just meh. I had a medium poke bowl with a salad base. I got the crabmeat, spicy crabmeat, avo, and cucumber with salmon, spicy salmon, and spicy tuna I think (there was no more tuna?). Their sauces were ok, nothing exciting. Just what you would typically see. It was good but their spicy sauces aren't spicy at all...it didn't even tickle my mouth which was disappointing given this place has 5 stars. I thought there would be at least a kick. I don't understand how they ran out of tuna considering it was basically empty when I came in (around 1:20 on a Monday afternoon). Also their scoops are tiny compared to some of the other poke places in OC. On top of that, their fish cubes were really small. I thought they would be a little bigger like some of the other places I've been to. They should've been able to restock the tuna easily though.. Also, the girl was REALLY stingy with my portion (medium). Their tongs were so small and she barely gave me anything I asked for. One of the other workers had to actually give me more salad because I didn't have enough to fill my bowl. The fish was poorly mixed with everything else. My crabmeats were still in big chunks. Overall, this place was underwhelming for what it's worth. Service was decent and the free miso soup if you dine in was a plus. Great Poke bowls, it was make your own which was fun and I had the medium spice. It had good heat! I would go there again for sure. We had a couple sushi rolls. I rated them a 4 and not a 5 because they forgot a drink, then they forgot a roll. It was a bit disorganized. I had a fresh brewed lemon ginger tea, it was refreshing! My kids had the bulgogi and the chicken bowls. They were good, they both ate it and liked it. There was a bit too much teriyaki sauces but it was good. I like that there was a small private room. We decided to come here after a long day at Knott's- starving and looking for something cheap, but delicious. They have a huge lit up sign outside so it was easy to find. We walked in, and it is super clean and decorated beautifully. There was a man (assuming it was the owner) cutting fresh yellowtail and we were immediately greeted. He and one other began taking our order. We got a small poke bowl combo, which includes a roll & one small poke bowl. My boyfriend ordered yellowtail and tuna with all the toppings, I ordered albacore and spicy tuna. They were generous with the two scoops that our bowls came with which was refreshing as most places give small scoops. When we paid we were offered complimentary miso soups, yum! They brought our food to the table along with napkins, forks and chopsticks and were super attentive and fast. The fish was fresh, the bowls were delicious, and the crunch roll was delicious, with warm shrimp tempura (most places we have visited don't serve the shrimp warm). We were both stuffed and sat to chat for a while and they came and cleared our plates for us. They truly do deserve their 5 star rating! The food was amazing and costed $20 for all that we got. Placed an order for pick up and when I got to the place to pick up my order, they tell me the order I placed 45min ago just came through to their system. Ok fine I understand that could happen and I didn't mind getting my food made fresh. Now my problem was that once I got home I noticed I was missing few toppings and my spicy salmon on my bowel. Since they were so busy trying to make my food the guy who was making my order must have missed some items. Overall food is decent and fish are somewhat fresh. If I didn't have to place a to go order I would of gone to Poke Bomb instead. read more

I had a great first time experience at Poki Roll last night and couldn't wait to let everyone know that they have to give this place a try! First of all, the employees are extremely friendly and welcoming. Smiling faces, great attitudes, and not hesitant to explain anything on their menu. I didn't feel rushed at all when my poke bowl was being made. Such a refreshing vibe. Secondly, the restaurant itself is inviting, with quite a few tables as well as two private rooms in case you want to enjoy your date in privacy, study, chat with friends...it was interesting but i love the idea. Lastly, THE FOOD IS AMAZING!!! And that is the main reason I will be returning. The poke bowl was filled with so many toppings and such fresh salmon&tuna, and the sauce that the girl specially mixed for my spicy intolerant pallet was so flavorful. I also got the cucumber special roll which was excellent! I love my sushi wrapped in cucumber! Poki Roll is a diamond in the rough. My co-worker recommended this place to me so I tried it and LOVED IT. When I first entered, I thought it was a type of fast food/Chipotle style poke place where you go up to counter and pick what you want but upon entrance, our server treated us cordially and asked my boyfriend and I if we'd like to dine in and gave us the option to sit in one of the separate rooms for more "intimate conversations". lol Don't mind if we do! I forgot what our server said this place used to be because it just opened in January but it seems like it used to be a Karaoke studio. The separate rooms are great. You can probably study here bc there's free wifi. We took advantage of this so we ate our poke in peace while streaming Netflix on my phone. haha The owners are so nice and sweet, the quality of the fish is good, the space is great and the low prices can't be beat. Definitely my new fave poke spot in the area. read more

We've tried 3 Poke places between the South Bay and Irvine in the last few weeks and this one clearly stands above the rest when it comes to the food and service. Admittedly it's a bit hidden in a strip mall in Cypress, and the decor may be a work-in-progress - but those are the only semi-negative things I can think of. The staff, behind the counter and at the register were wonderful. They're excited about their food and they're happy to talk about it. These aren't thrown together chucks of fish on rice. These are mini works of art that happen to be delicious. Of course we got to pick exactly the size, base, fish, sauce and toppings - but they're put together beautifully. And they're super fresh and delicious. One of my pet peeves with the other poke places was the temperature and texture of the rice. These guys nailed it. Plus the extras are great. So many choices of vegetables, sauces, seaweed, radish and on and on and on. They're gonna need a bigger place soon. And like the owner/manager always says.. "See you tomorrow!" read more

I opted for the medium bowl/slush combo.In my bowl I got the following: Veggies: white onions, cucumbers, seaweed salad, avocado, green onion, & pickled radish Non veggie additions: masago, crab meat, & spicy crabmeat Fish choices: tuna, spicy tuna, & salmon with spicy mayo sauce & A taro smoothie with boba ($0.50 Extra) All for $12 (or $11.50 without the boba) Overall, I really liked my food. It was ready when they said it was, and the smoothie had a nice flavor as well. I was worried that it would have an overly sweet taste or fake taro taste, but it actually tasted good. The reason why I'm not giving 5 stars is the other part of my order, a poke wrap for my fiance. That thing was so small! We even opted for extra fish which brought the price up to $9, but that thing was so tiny. He was still hungry after he ate it and said he wish he opted for a bowl instead. So, if you forgo the wraps and go for a bowl instead, then you should end up having a good experience with this place. read more

Poki Roll is quite literally a hole in the wall. Although the outside and the vicinity are not aesthetically pleasing, the actual restaurant is kept nice and has a great atmosphere. The poke is amazing. I've only tried the large but I found that it's quite filling. The bases available are the same as any other poke place (i.e. white rice, brown rice, salad, etc.) but the variety of fish and toppings are plentiful. They even have spicy yellowtail and spicy salmon! For a large, you get 5 relatively large scoops of fish (compared to other poke joints). Sauce is customizable; I suggest a combination of spicy mayo, ponzu, and sesame. Poki Roll has the greatest variety of toppings I've ever seen in a poke joint. They even have cilantro and dikon. The customer service is honestly the cherry on top. They are so welcoming and attentive. Although the food is served in disposable containers and the establishment is a self-serve, they even take your tray to your table and dispose of it for you. It's obvious that they truly care about delivering top-notch customer service. Poki Roll is definitely comparable to Pokinometry at Anaheim. In my opinion, it's more worth it to go to Poki Roll because not only do you get larger servings but you also get better customer service. It's also one of the cheaper poke places. read more

I was surprised to hear that Poki Roll had only been open for 2 months. The place was packed (we arrived about an hr before closing on Sat), yet there was a relaxed, home-y vibe, like everyone was family. The staff is incredibly welcoming and patient; one of the employees came to check on us while we were eating and he didnt seem to be a bit bothered when we asked for extra ponzu sauce. I ordered a medium salad and it was a nice amount of food for dinner. Will def be back, hoping the best of luck to this place :) read more

So this will be my first review ever since I think this place deserves it. I was skeptical about so many 5 star reviews but I figured it's at least worth a try. So I haven't been to any other poki places yet but I'm glad I started here. Customer service was great. They were friendly and patient and helpful. Also mid way through the meal they did make sure to check up on us which I was surprised about so they do seem to care. Also the place is very clean (which you wouldn't guess from the outside) Onto the food, it was great. The one part that stood out was really the freshness of the fish. That alone really sold me on the meal and I think probably separates itself from the competition. They also gave us a free miso soup which I thought was excellent as well. So it may seem like this place you may pay a tiny bit more, however, the quality and service makes it worth it. I will definitely be coming back and bringing a new friend. read more

Overall:5/5 This restaurant is a wonderful little gem hidden in the corner of a strip mall. From the service to the atmosphere to the food this place will definitely have you leaving with a smile (and full belly)! They not only serve amazing poke bowls, but for the people that don't eat poke (like myself) they also have some very tasty teriyaki bowls, udon, and handmade sushi....not to mention the free miso soup! The restaurant is small but very clean with two private rooms. The private rooms are a very good idea as they not only allow large parties to have a nice private area to eat, but also keeps the noise level down for everyone else. My family and I absolutely love this place! It is definitely in our regular rotation of restaurants and I highly recommend checking this place out if you haven't already! Service: 5/5 The service here is amazing! The first time we ate here I was a little confused as how to order since it's almost like a buffet line where you order your poke, entrees, sushi, etc... (Almost reminds me of a sandwich place in terms of how you order), but the workers were very friendly and helpful with any questions I had. I was amazed at how many times different workers would come around while you eat to make sure everything was ok despite the fact that this is basically a counter top restaurant. The only time there was a glitch in the service, a mix up with our order and we had to wait a while for our garlic edamame (which were spicy but delicious!), they not only apologized many times but also gave us an order of potstickers on the house! This restaurant definitely understands the importance of service and provide it to perfection. Cleanliness: 5/5 The restaurant is small, quaint, and very clean. The tables are very clean and they remove your dirty plates quite frequently which was nice. Food: 5/5 Before rating the food let me first tell you that I do not eat poke...the rating is based on the dishes I ate and my wife's (who loves poke) opinion on her poke bowl. My wife loves poke! She has eaten it at different places in Hawaii and on the mainland and she gave me the thumbs up (mostly because her mouth was full of poke) when I asked her how it was. A large bowl allows you to have 5 scoops of any kind of fish you want with a wide variety to choose from. My wife also enjoyed the seaweed seasoning that they put on her rice (said it was very similar to furikake, if not the same) and all the other wonderful goodies they allow you to choose from to put in your bowl. So far my son and I were able to try the beef bulgogi bowl, chicken teriyaki bowl, udon, California rolls, crunch roll, and garlic edamame...all of which were very good. The sushi is made in front of you which is really nice and proof that it's fresh. The bulgogi is more of a beef teriyaki, but both the chicken and beef were very tender and flavorful. The udon was a bit simplistic but that's something that I enjoyed about it. I wasn't sure if it was the fact that I loved udon as a kid and haven't had it in a long time or if it was just really good, but I devoured it in a matter of minutes. The garlic edamame were excellent. They were very spicy (well, very spicy to me...but I'm kind of a wimp when it come to spicy-ness)...but really good. I found myself sweating, but couldn't stop eating them. It was a very enjoyable torture!!! I'll definitely be going back for more and to try more items from their menu. read more
