I was happy I saw this place since I am a senior who just came from work. So, I returned a few weeks later, about an hour before closing time and i ordered same small bowl....this time, I was the only customer eating inside the restaurant. When I was done, I threw my small empty bowl trash carefully in the wastebasket. I was surprised that the server came to me and was a bit upset i threw my trash in it. She spoke to me like an employee, giving me directions. She said that "this wastebasket is only for smaller trash like paper, plastic spoons. She said NEXT TIME, throw your trash over there ok?" Delicious Poki bowl & super friendly staff! Of course I had to go with the largest sized bowl. The menu/steps make it super easy for you to get through the line. Step 1: white rice, brown rice, salad greens, or chips (or go half and half). Step 2: Octopus, tuna, spicy tuna, crab mix, salmon (your protein). Step 3: seaweed salad, cucumber, green onions, sprouts, onions, ginger, jalapenos, etc. Then you can choose all the different types of sauces that you would like in your bowl. They also have the sauces near the drink station in case you would like to add more. You can go mild or spicy....just keep adding! The bowl prices are comparable to most Poki places. Everything was fresh and I didn't feel so guilty after eating everything in the bowl, especially when I added so much sauce to my bowl. There's plenty of seating, either indoor or outside. There's definitely a lot of options on Katella, but PokiDoki will probably get my business every time i'm in the area. Plenty of parking in this shopping center. No worries there. read more

I ordered a medium poké bowl with tuna, salmon, and crab salad. When I received my bowl, it was filled to the brim. Every component tasted delicious, so I was pleasantly surprised. I was worried that they'd drench my bowl or provide too little, so I requested to put the sauces in separate containers. This way, I'd be able to utilize the amount of sauce I want in the bowl. Decided to go here after work with my coworker since we've been craving poke! It was both our first time here and the guy working (sorry I didn't catch your name) was super friendly. The menu above was step by step making it easier for others to order. We both got a medium since we weren't sure if we had time to eat a large. The fish was fresh and I love the variety of sauces they had to offer. Along with that, you get free miso soup when you check in! If you want extra sauces, they have sauces near the drink section. TERRIBLE service. Went in to order a Large bowl and a Regular bowl. Midst taking order, the employee that was serving us got distracted talking with another employee. He started talking very poorly of other customers, passing judgement based on online orders. It was rather uncomfortable. He was so distracted speaking ill, that he put in only 2 scoops of protein in the Large bowl. There is very clearly less in the Large than the Regular. Don't be talking poorly of others when you can't do your own job of scooping fish properly. If you need help counting, use the fingers in your hand to count to 4. I ordered a lot of the sauces but I did not expect my bowl to come drenched with sauce. It felt more like soup and the rice they used in both my bowl and musubi were old rice. I could tell because the rice was hard and a bit stale. And the spam in my musubi was a tiny sliver sandwiched in between thick chunks of stale and hard rice. It pains me to leave such a low rating for what used to be my family's favorite place to satisfy our poke cravings. Poki Doki was one of the earliest poke places that popped up in the area when poke started to become widely known, and they never failed to deliver with their friendly service and generous portions. Plus we liked their variety of sauces and how there was no extra charge for a scoop of avocados! This was the place that got my parents into the Poke bowl craze, and unfortunately, during our last visit during the Labor Day weekend, we were quite disappointed. In these COVID-19 times, it's questionable whether it's as safe as before to consume raw fish or not. Some of our concerns were that the fish wouldn't be fresh, and the establishments would not be strictly enforcing cleanliness and safety guidelines; however, judging from the most recent reviews, there was nothing but great praise, so we thought, maybe we were just being overly cautious. After all, why would businesses try to jeopardize themselves when business has noticeably slowed down? It was Labor Day weekend, and it was announced that there was going to be a heat wave. It felt like the perfect time to get some poke to refresh ourselves from the heat. We were excited and entered the establishment only to find that there was no AC running, which at this point, we should have known better to just walk away. I'm not sure if the AC happened to not be working that day or if they were scheduled for an AC outage, but we naively thought that perhaps they had a back up plan in case such a situation happened. And honestly, a lot of establishments have made changes and improvements due to this whole COVID-19 thing so I assumed there would be some changes here as well. We walked up to place our orders, and as soon as the worker was filling up the base of our bowls, we looked over to the selection of seafood, and you could tell it had been sitting in the room without AC for a long time. Despite no AC running, there was absolutely nothing done to ensure the fish maintained its freshness, and worst of all, there was a fly going around the fish, and was particularly in favor of the yellowtail, but who knows when it had contaminated the salmon, tuna, shrimp or the scallops? Had there been covers for the seafood and sides, this issue wouldn't have been so bad. Honestly surprised they didn't start implementing covers for everything since COVID-19 came to light. We honestly should have walked away at this point, but this was our favorite poke place and we were honestly too flabbergasted to react properly. The only thing that had covers was the toppings, everything else was pretty much left in the open. To top it off, the worker handling our order was all over the place. It felt like I was watching a movie in slow-mo. We tried to be understanding and figured it might have been the heat wave that was throwing him off, so we just shrugged it off. We left the joint extremely disappointed because this experience was unlike our past experiences with this establishment. We ended up just trashing our order because we did not want to risk getting sick from it. If I happened to go visit when their AC broke, then I hope they can better prepare for unexpected situations in the future because there are plenty of other poke joints around the area, and it would be saddening to know if they lost more loyal customers/potential business due to lack of preparedness. read more

5 Stars for this poke joint! Found this little poke shop by accident on yelp, called and asked if they were open then decided to stop by -- and we are so glad we did. Fantastic service and food. The woman who assisted us was incredibly nice and patient, considering this was our first visit. She explained their process and offerings, and also made personal suggestions on which sauces pair well together. By the way, the sesame oil is a game changer!! Why haven't I had it before? We each both had a small (2 scoops fish) and were very full and satisfied. For like $2-3 you can turn your bowl into a combo and they have some interesting drink options. New favorite place! I'm giving this place two stars, the reason for that is the customer service was okay, and the portions kinda suck. I asked what kind of sauces they have and I was all the way at the end and the cashier told me I can read the sign all the way at the other end. I've worked customer service before and she could've just told me instead of me having to squint my eyes to see which ones they have. I was at the Costco down the street and decided to checkout this new Poke spot. The concept is the same as all the other million pop up poke places with the build your own poke bowl. Parking is plenty in the same plaza as 24 hour fitness! When you walk in, you're greeted right away by the staff which is nice. This place however is a little more pricey compared to other poke spots. Their price for 4 scoops is the same as a large (5 scoop) elsewhere which is a no no for me. I would understand if their fish was amazing quality or something, but that wasn't the case. They have plenty of protein options, but the quality wasn't there. Their seared tuna had a fishy taste to it and was super mushy I thought I was gonna get sick from it. They also don't offer YELLOWTAIL OR SPICY TUNA which is usually a standard at most other poke joints! The only thing that separates them is that they offer eel sauce and onion garlic sauce as options. The onion garlic sauce is really good! Also, instead of mixing the fishes and sauce together in a bowl like other places, they just drizzle on the sauces on top of your bowl/salad at the end. I didn't like this concept cause the fish isn't able to soak up the sauce. They're also pretty stingy in portions for the toppings and fish scoops. I love supporting new businesses, but this place didn't cut it for me and I wouldn't go out of my way to return even for a postworkout meal from the gym. read more

After repeated visits at our normal Poke spot, we decided to try this new spot down in Cypress. We just happened to be driving by and outta the corner of my eye, I spotted the word Poke. I got so excited! So we pulled into the 24 hour fitness lot and and parked it. The first thing that caught my eye was that the large bowl came with 4 scoops of fish when we're normally used to 5 scoops for the same price. The concern of one less scoop didn't last long as Ian made our bowl with generous scoops in my opinion. We totally thanked him for that. Let's just say every time we have Poke, it just gets better and better. It just tasted so fresh and healthy...making me want to eat it 24/7! Well, I have to say welcome to Cypress PokiDoki! I love Poke and this place being next to Costco (Ironically they recently offered it prepacked on weekends), would visit here for a healthy alternative anytime! Their recent Grand Opening had FREE, yes FREE medium size Poke bowls ( reg. 8.50 for 3 items) in which you can pick your base from chips, salad, white rice, or brown rice. Then you pick your proteins from albacore, tuna, salmon, shrimp, scallops, eggs. The avocado and imo crabmeat is standard. Extra avo is $1 more. Then you pick your toppings. I just pick all cuz pretty much it's everything I want, including wasabi. To finish, you pick your sauce. I have to say, I think this place is Korean owned and I'm a little disappointed in the sauce. It's not spicy at all in any way for the spicy version. The regular sauce just tasted like sweet soy sauce. I noticed on the 2nd day they gave out less on the bowl. I'm not complaining, I'm still grateful to have tried your poke bowl for free and your pokinade which has chunks of strawberry and basil. I do wish the lemon sour intensity was more because it tasted a little watered down for me. But thank goodness you do offer sweet green tea next to the soda dispenser. I do like the size of the fish chunks here, it's not big nor terribly small. Your servers were friendly with a smile so that in itself was sign for me to come back. To begin, I want to thank Xochitl for the patience and kindness shown towards me inasmuch as I had never eaten poki until TODAY. Xochitl took the time to explain the ordering process (in making a bowl) and she provided me with samples of each item that I requested. Second, I have seen friends enjoy poki bowls that were larger for the price of small at Poki Doki ($10.95 for a small bowl is pricey)! Hence, for this reason I have only given Poki Doki three stars. Third, I did find the poki bowl that I created quite yummy: spicy tuna, crab meat, seaweed, cucumbers, ginger, and 1/2 sushi rice and salad. Finally, I may return to PokiDoki IF I am in the area; however, I do want to try other poki restaurants that are not as expensive for a small bowl. When I'm running my food deliveries in the area, I'm always stopping by Poki Doki for customers who orders from this place. After I called it a day, I decided to try them out for lunch. Poki Doki is located at a shopping center, next to the Los Alamitos Racetrack. Just a heads up guys; in my opinion they have plenty of parking due to what is going on. I met Monica earlier and she was very welcoming and acknowledged me coming in; BIG Plus. So What attracted me was their fresh selection of ingredients and variety. So I went ahead and ordered the Large Bowl, which comes with 4 scoops of your protein that you want. I selected Shrimp (cooked), Tuna, Salmon & Albacore. As well as I choose Brown Rice as the base. Then you can choose your toppings. I selected Cucumber, Green Onion, Cilantro, Corn, Smelt Egg, Seaweed Salad, Ginger and Onion. For the sauce I chose Teriyaki and the topping I chose Sesame Seeds. I could tell that by looking at my Large Bowl, it was fresh and created with care. I could taste the crunch from the cucumbers, the freshness of the proteins and the flavors overall. My overall experience was excellent and the customer service I received from Monica was really warm and helpful. In my personal opinion, I recommend Poki Doki and this is probably the best Poke Place I've been to and I am hooked! I will definitely will come back and want to try their other items on the menu. BTW, they have a "Poki-Pinch Card" program that when you come for your 10th visit, you get a FREE Medium Poki Bowl on your 11th visit. read more

Poke Doki on Katella ZERO STARS RUDE -RUDE -RUDE!!! Disrespectful and verbally abusive employee (The guy at the counter Weds 12/22 at 7:30pm). Order for 2 bowls and a side placed through Grub Hub app. Walk in carrying my only my keys because every place else I pick up is intelligent enough to put names on the food. Two customers, a guy and a girl are sitting at a table eating. Two brown bags are on the back counter, one with a name (not mine) and one blank. The guy asks me for a name. Looks at the two bags, doesn't see the name, and then asks me for confirmation of the order. I explain my wife placed the order, on HER phone, and she's three miles away. Then he asks for PRINTED confirmation of the order. PRINTED?!?! He says sometimes people just walk in and collect orders that aren't theirs, implying that I'm a thief, a thief who just happens to know the first and last name of someone who placed an order in the last 10 minutes. I ask him if HIS phone prints out paper receipts. I see the look on his face, you know the look, he realizes he said something REALLY stupid and now he's flustered. I turn to walk out to my car while he's still talking about confirmation numbers and PRINTING out emails, and return with my phone. I'm on speaker phone with my wife when I return and the other employee a young lady stacking tables and chairs throws the guy a lifeline and says my wife can send me a screenshot of the confirmation (no printing involved). My wife, via speakerphone can be heard opening something that shows the receipt. She reads the highlights but there is no confirmation number. Here is where the guy really goes off the rails. The guy behind the counter lifts the brown bag around the plexiglass barrier, sets it on a stack of trays, and says something like "here take it". What? No printed confirmation?? The bag is still blank. I tell my wife "I was just handed a random bag of food I'll be home in a few" as I turn towards the door. In an angry voice the guy says "It's NOT random I know what I made!" The guy and girl have been silent the entire time, but as I am facing the door, and them, I see they are smiling and giggling; how humiliating. My first impulse was to turn back around and give the guy a piece of my mind and demand a phone number for Poke Doki HQ so he knows it's not over. It's almost Christmas so I bite my tongue and head for the door. The employee KEEPS RUNNING HIS MOUTH -WTF?!?! Employee: "If you don't like it don't come back!" Me: "Yeah I will NOT be coming back here". Employee: "THANK GOD" I never even looked back. Everything that guy said he said loudly, and publicly, in front of other customers. I will find the Poke Doki headquarters phone number; it's not that hard. I will call PD-HQ and report his attitude, and his language, word for word. I will demand that they interview his co-worker to verify my details. I will post this review on EVERY site that allows it, plus FB, and Next Door, and BBB, and my neighborhood email list, and the City of Cypress, and more. The order itself: No silverware in the bag. My "bowl" is half full and looks like a sad side order from Taco Bell. I have no appetite for it anyways. Note: While I was composing this review my wife received an "adjustment to the order". They spontaneously refunded a couple dollars (the side order). Nice try Poke people. Hush money NOT effective. I would totally come back to this place! Friendly staff + Great quality fish + Great selection of toppings! They're very generous with their portions too that my "small" bowl quickly became the portion almost equivalent to a medium sized bowl. My bowl was overloaded with goodies.
