Crispy chicken bowl with noodles and greens
    Linda L.

Came here for a 2G2G bag of salmon but always leave with something besides that. Today, I had the crispy chicken bowl. It was sooo good for $12. I chose zucchini noodles and green salad as the base. The server was sweet and helpful. Each time I've picked up food, I'm never disappointed.

Came again- and absolutely nailed it once again. No wait. Poke House is a go-to spot if you're craving fresh, flavorful, and customizable poke bowls. The fish is consistently high quality, with a clean taste that really stands out, and there's a great variety of toppings to mix and match. Whether you like something classic or want to build something more unique, the options make it easy to get exactly what you're in the mood for. The portions are generous, and everything feels fresh--from the proteins to the veggies and sauces. The staff is usually friendly and efficient, making the whole experience smooth and fast.

Every other poke place I have been to were all decent, but this place really stands out. Went during their grand opening and it was great. All of the ingredients were very fresh and the portions were gigantic. It tasted delicious and the food was overflowing in the bowl. Everyone there is super friendly and the interior is beautifully decorated.

Love the fresh food options! Service is A1. Ambiance is relaxed and you can have conversations with friends.

    Charred salmon bowl
    Soyoun P.

So good. The charred salmon bowl was smoky, flavorful, and insanely fresh--and you can add extra toppings, which makes it even better. I love that they charr on the spot so it's fresh. If you get tired of raw fish, definitely give it a try. Also, try the canned iced tea. It's very light.

Rating: 3.75/5 It's my first time trying poke at this location. I ordered the spicy miso salmon and the garlic oyster tuna (2 scoop protein). I requested for the citrus ponzu and miso aioli (easy on the dressing). Pros: The staff are welcoming and friendly. The cucumbers, onions, ginger all have a crisp/crunch to them. Cons: The fish quality is underwhelming and not fresh. Perhaps, there was a lunch rush before I came to visit the store at 1:00pm. The storefront was low on the garlic oyster tuna and the remaining spicy miso salmon did not taste fresh and had a peculiar smell.

As for the food let's get into it: - Smoked Trout Dip (9/10) surprisingly one of our favorite dishes, packed a lot of flavor and paired perfect with the crackers. - Sicilian Crudo (10/10) I've had this at other places, but found oyster does it right. Will be adding caviar next time. - Oysters (8/10) prices were reasonable and the oysters themselves were delicious. Wish they had Kumamoto oysters but their selection was more local. - Clam Chowder (7/10) Wasn't terrible, but I prefer a more thicker chowder. Still, at $9 a cup I would give it another try. Overall a great experience. The service was really good especially at the bar. Would I go again? Absolutely!

Back then, they didn't take reservations, but I noticed recently that they started accepting reservations via Resy, so I made a reservation and my husband and I came here in March. Found Oyster is located in East Hollywood, on the same street where Saffy's is. It can be a bit hard to find street parking nearby because of neighborhood rules, but we managed to find a spot after circling a bit. The restaurant is very small, but it has both indoor and outdoor seating. I think the size of it adds to the charm. It also has a nautical theme inside and a New England feel about the place. The seating options inside are either at the bar, or tiny high-top tables. For appetizers, we shared the peel and eat prawns, half a dozen oysters and the sicilian crudo. Everything was good, but the servings were smaller than I expected. I also think that the peel and eat prawns would have been pretty mediocre without the special sauce. For mains, my husband got the lobster roll, while I had the mussels. His lobster roll was good, but in my experience it's hard to go wrong with buttered lobster on bread served with fries. My mussels were fresh and tasty. They were good, but nothing to write home about. Service was friendly and efficient.

We were there at 6pm on a Sunday night but they filled up quick, so I highly recommend a reservation. At dusk, candles are lit and the ambiance becomes warm and intimate; the perfect setting for date night, a birthday/anniversary, or just catching up with friends. We ordered the meatballs (polpette filanti) as an appetizer, which were perfectly moist and tender and blanketed in melty mozzarella (tip: save the sauce for your bread!!). I ordered a special, the Fusilli Toscana (Sun dried tomato, sautéed spinach, and sweet Italian sausage in a light cream sauce), and as much as I wanted to finish it, I deliberately saved half for a bonus lunch the next day! I also stole bites of the Brie and albicocche (Brie, prosciutto, and apricot!!) ravioli in their Bianco and Rosso sauce and I just about died in my seat. *chefs kiss* As if it couldn't get any better, ordered the Pansu (espresso panna cotta) and Tiramisu for dessert and right then and there swore to return when anyone comes to visit me or any time I wanna take a friend out and treat them to a wonderfully authentic Italian hidden gem called La Pergoletta! Cousins Francisco Aguilar and Alexis Chacon relocated from Oaxaca to open this mobile mariscos operation. But Simon's seafood-forward menu is innovative and sophisticated, seemingly more at home in a sit-downery than a mobile food cart. Unsurprisingly, Simon has been lauded by news outlets and food critics abound. I've been dying to try Simon, but the limited and often unpredictable hours have kept me from it for months. My partner and I visited for a late weekend lunch and ordered immediately. We opted for 2 tacos (the Soft Shelled Crab and the Baja-style Fish) and a Large Aguachile Negro, and our made-to-order meal was prepared within a few minutes. Between the tacos, the crab was a clear winner. The crispy, whole crab was well-complemented by the fresh pineapple salsa and the rich chipotle crema. In stark contrast, the Baja-style fried fish was one-dimensional in flavor and ran on the soggy side, owing to the watery pickled cabbage slaw. But not even the crab taco could compete with the stellar aguachile. We couldn't get enough of the marinade's rich blend of acidity and smokiness, which overshadowed even the generous helping of fresh shrimp. Simon's complimentary salsa lineup also exceeded expectations. We most enjoyed the earthy salsa macha and the smooth, creamy salsa verde, but the tangy salsa Simon -- the truck's take on taco sauce -- was no slouch, either. Our bill totaled just over $30, and the meal felt reasonably priced and appropriately filling. While the tacos didn't knock my socks off, the aguachile certainly did -- I can't wait to return to try some of Simon's other varieties.

For a seafood boil, sweet corn makes a huge difference -- it absorbs the seasoning better and adds that perfect balance of sweetness with the spice and butter. The corn they use isn't bad, but switching to sweet corn would elevate the entire experience and take their boil to the next level.
