We came to Polanco to celebrate a birthday, and unfortunately, the entire experience was disappointing from the moment we arrived. Starting with the valet and the host at the door I walked in and was completely ignored. I stood there for a full minute while staff looked right past me. Our reservation specifically noted that we were celebrating a birthday, and I even confirmed it again with the host upstairs. She assured me she "got it" and not to worry. Sadly, that was not the case. The only positive part of the evening was our server he was absolutely amazing and did his best despite everything else going wrong. But as the night went on, I watched three tables around us receive birthday celebrations while ours never came. After waiting patiently, I finally spoke with the manager, who apologized and offered a glass of champagne, but it didn't make up for the disappointment. We spent 400+ for dinner, and for that price, I expected far better service. The ambiance is nice, and the food is just okay, but the service from the hosts to management was truly terrible. This was supposed to be a special night, and it ended up being a frustrating experience I wouldn't recommend to anyone looking to celebrate an occasion. read more

From the stunning and simplistic design, Polanco transports you feeling like you're no longer in Fort Worth, even as the restaurant sits in downtown. From the greeting to the bathroom attendant to the GM touching every table, service was impeccable. Sure, like others have mentioned, cocktails might take a bit, but they are newly opened. The good: reservation was on time. Filet was great-if you like truffle. Portion sizes were good. The bad: no valet, upstairs Waiter was REALLY hard to understand and not at the level of fine dining as far as menu knowledge. Music was loud, chairs were crammed in the space. Wait for food/drinks was long. Large portion of guac (nothing special)-but hardly any chips. With some tweaks, this place would be better but for now, I've checked it off the list. read more

If you like to be respected as a customer, go somewhere else. I went to Polanco for a friend's birthday after seeing it on social media. When we arrived, we were asked about our reservation and escorted upstairs to another hostess stand and asked again about our reservation. Once we were seated, we were offered the option of still or sparkling water. We chose still and realized afterwards that we were being charged $10 per bottle of water when other tables were being served tap water. The music was also loud club music and was never turned down, despite many requests to our server. All of the cocktails that we ordered took forever to get to our table and once we got them, half of them were undrinkable, whether from the bad taste or the excess amount of salt in the drinks. Half of the drinks had dry ice or some gimmick to them, that seemed more important than the drink itself. For $17+ per drink, they were just not worth it. We ordered a few appetizers and what we got was very different to what we were expecting. The menu only had a vague title for everything and a list of ingredients, so we truly had no idea what we were getting. One of my friends also found some hair in her food. We asked questions about the meals after that when we were ordering our main dishes. Each of these dishes was $27 or more. Once again, one my friends got something that she was not expecting. The staff did take this back and offer her a new dish, but she did have to wait to eat. One of the dishes was also advertised as tacos with fuego sauce. When the dish came out, there was no sauce and when she did get sauce, it was a mild sauce. Our server came out right as she was on her last taco with a different sauce that was apparently the one supposed to go with the dish. Another one of my friends got a hamburger with truffle fires, but when the dish came out, the fries were seasoned with what looked like tajin, no truffle of any kind in sight. To top this off, while we were getting our food, a man walked by and tried to sneakily take a video or picture of us, almost hiding his phone and walking away quickly. When we brought this up with our server, he did not know what was going on and went to find out. Turns out the guy is the marketing team. The manager came by to apologize about the rudeness, but immediately walked over to the marketing guy and was laughing with him and seemingly mocking us. Another manager came by after we repeatedly voiced our discomfort with the situation and when asked what they could do to remedy the situation, I asked that they comp our drinks. They offered us champagne, which we declined, but was brought out anyways. They also only comped our appetizers, the cheapest things on the check. Our server was extremely understanding and did his job to the best of his ability and it is a shame that the management of Polanco is so terrible. If you want a high end Mexican dining experience, you would be better to go to Torro Torro or Don Artemios. read more

Good idea, confusingly inept execution. If you are planning for a Don Artemio-like experience, this is most definitely not that. When the valets were scrambling, late, to get their stand set up and knocked an orange cone into my wife's passenger door, I was thinking "not a good start." Pretty sure a good detailer can buff that out, so no harm. Atmosphere was ok, less polished than I'd expect for a new 'higher end' restaurant, but nice views. But what about the FOOD? The concepts and recipes seem solid, but again, torpedoed by poor execution in the kitchen, and seemingly untrained servers. No ice in the water, two or three items taken from the table immediately after us asking to keep them (wait staff difficult to communicate with). Yet at one point, over 20 servers/staff just standing in a cluster near the bar. Weird. Having lived in New Mexico for ~14 years and travelled Mexico extensively, I really wanted to like this one... hopefully they figure it out. The food was absolutely fabulous. LOVED the vibe. We celebrated a birthday party there with a large party. Group reservation was for 630pm. There was some confusion as to what private room we were supposed to be in. Standing around waiting for about 1 hour waiting for us to be sat. Birthday decorations needed to be placed before the rest of the party which did not happen. The room we "contracted" stated the entire room would be private and exclusive to our party. Your contract, by the way, has too many "gray areas" and not enough of detailed information that can both protect the customers AND the restaurant. NOT THE CASE. They sat another large party INSIDE of our room that was contracted and bound by a minimum food & beverage spend. Which we overwhelmingly exceeded. Party was sat by 7:30pm. Beverage order was taken but did not receive them until 40-45 minutes later. Dinner orders were taken soon after and received approximately 30-40 minutes later. It was close to 930pm before we were ready to leave which ruined our after dinner plans at 830pm-ish. The manager on duty did not acknowledge the lack of service until we asked to have a word with him. No offers to discount our bill. Did not acknowledge the fact that our room was not private. DID NOT OFFER ANY CONCESSIONS to try and ensure our return. Given that this place is newly opened, but it's been over two months now. They see how the restaurant just BOOMED and was doing very well. By then, they should have been able to tighten up the team and make their people shine while creating a name for themselves. Polanco, are you in need of an Event Manager?? It's obvious that whoever handles your group reservations is clearly NOT doing their job. On top of this, I have tried to contact someone in the span of two weeks several times each week and each day but no one returns my calls or emails or even my requests online through their website. I tried to contact them before our event to get a wine list so I could preorder a few bottles of wine and spirits for the group. I also called several times on the day of the event to find out what time I could arrive to decorate for our event. No answer and no return calls or emails. Please contact me as soon as you have a moment. I feel your establishment can be so fabulous and visited for many years on top of the "A" list for sure. This was a horrible experience. We had a 6pm reservation and were told at the time of reservation we would have to leave by 8pm- that's fine! We didn't leave until 9:30pm. It took forever to get our food. My drink was not delivered until I had to ask again for it, by that time I was done with my meal. I ordered sea bass tacos and the fish was diced and fried. It was a small amount of fish and looked like a taco from Fuzzys. We had to ask someone to find our server so we could pay our bill and leave. I have yet to go to a fine dining restaurant in the DFW area that gives such great service as Polanco did. From placing your napkin on your lap for you, making sure water is filled the entire time, simple things like wine glasses being polished and spotless, which I haven't really seen at other fine dining restaurants in Fort Worth, I was truly impressed. I've worked in the fine dining business for years, so I am very critical when having dinner at one and this place surpassed all of my expectations. The ambience was fun, club-y, and vibe-y, so if you're looking for a quiet, fine dining experience, I wouldn't go here. We tried several of the drinks and they were amazing. I would say they were great for their price point and presentation. The food here was also immaculate. I am from El Paso and I'm very critical about any sort of Mexican cuisine, their ceviche and other dishes were pretty spot on. Everything had so much flavor in it which I enjoyed. Overall, I would definitely recommend this place for a date night or a fun girls dinner. I will definitely be going back again! read more
