I like the chicken from Pollo Campero better than any other fried chicken place but one of their newer menu options, the empanadas, definitely has my attention. They offer three versions, bean and cheese, citrus chicken, and spicy chicken. I have had both chicken varieties and they are delicious. Of course they are not as good as homemade empanadas but for a chain restaurant they are great. I love that Pollo Campero has begun to expand their menu past just regular fried chicken, although that was enough to make them famous. Their chicken tenders, grilled chicken, empanadas, and yucca fries are what keeps me coming back, when the rest of my family eats their regular fried chicken. I recommend 3 empanadas and an order of yucca fries for a meal. Also, don't forget the salsa's. My favorites are the spicy green tomatillo and smoky red chipotle salsa. placed an online order for 5pm pickup. I arrived at the restaurant a few minutes before 5:00pm. After waiting a few minutes I decided to ask the status of my order. One of the employees decided to go ask and confirm my order was being prepared. Another employee came to notify me that they did not have what I had ordered online and if I wanted to I could wait approx 30 minutes to get my order ready. What is the purpose of placing an order online if is not going to be ready at the time specified. I decided not to wait and to take what ever was available at that time. This is not my first negative experience with this restaurant. On a previous occasion, after placing an order in the restaurant ,they tell me that the grilled chicken I ordered was not available and will be another 35 min before the grill chicken will be ready. I canceled my order and was told my transaction was reversed and my CC will not be charged. Well, it took about 3 weeks and several trips to speak with the manager, finally spoke with my bank and after told them I spoke with the bank they reimbursed me the money. Great food. Delicious empanadas and great fried chicken and some of the best Yucca I have ever tried. Que rico!

The chicken is AWESOME! Eat the skin, I promise you will love it, it has an amazing flavor. Chips were not that good, but the sauce made up for it. Be sure to get the pico de gallo! Yucca fries were great, dip it in that pinkish-orange sauce you get. read more

For our family of 4 to go and eat dinner for under $25 I was so thrilled! The food was good, much better than KFC. It was very clean, and comfortable to dine in. The music was loud, and LOUDER in the bathroom. The service was really good, fast, and accurate! I would go back again. read more

Ugh, this place is booty son. By that i mean DONT GO. I've been here twice but only eaten once. Why you ask? The first time I went, I remember them not having the type of chicken I wanted (grilled or fried) so I left. There are other places that are better nearby. I went this time and man the line just inches along at the s..l..o..w..e..s..t pace. The girl at the counter was in zero rush to get orders and all the faces in line look like the want to run into a knife. Kinda feels like the DMV in there. lol.. When I walked in I saw the ads on their door beckoning me to enjoy some "delicious tacos" , I called my gf, she said get me the tacos, so I asked the girl for the tacos. She said to me, dont get the tacos, get the empanadas instead. Gf said tacos, NOT empanadas, needless to say, I got the tacos. I knew not to expect great tacos from here but cmon, how bad can they be? Aww man..So I ordered a 2 pc fried chicken with yucca for me, all to go. For sure I said TOGO maing'. I even said it to her in Spanish, Im fluent, there should be no problems right? (As Im writing this my girl just said "oh my stomach...those tacos...") The food runner/ cleaning lady brought me my food and I told her it was to go, she looked disappointed, like this happens often. The employees were half lax, joking and working when they wanted, and half trying to do double the work cause of the other lazies. While Im waiting this guy jokes to the others waiting in spanish that his food "looks like left the claws on this one", everyone laughs and he throws the piece back in his to go box and walks away laughing to himself. So exactly 17 minutes later I got my food. When I left, there were 8 people in line and about 5 waiting. Got home, food sucked, my girl asked me if it was fish tacos, they only have chicken, gross. My yucca was decent but was served with a mayo/ ketchup sauce. Whoa! Back to middle-school with that culinary blend. My chicken looked half eaten and was tiny, terrible. Like the butcher just pulled it apart with his hands or used a blunt knife. Verdict, Im Latin and this was an embarrassment to Latin food and service. NOT Peruvian, not chicken? The packaging was nice at least. And the old lady cleaning and running food was like that nice grandma trying to do everything. Poor lady should be at home relaxing. Go to Super Chicken down the street, which is the authentic and has a ton more food options. For tacos, I dont know, Im going to Mexico in March, there is nothing close to the real thing here, try the Mercado Latino next to that sketchy 360 Half-Life bar. Meh... is the only word I can think of. I'm huge on customer service. And that is what brings this place down to me. I don't like going in a place feeling like I'm invading your space and that is how I feel walking into pollo campero. I have been there about 3 times and each time the person behind the counter seemed very annoyed to be taking my order. Don't get me wrong I dislike very friendly service as well. So I wasn't looking for polio campero staff to say welcome to pollo campero! In unison everytime I walk in. But don't seem annoyed I walked in your restaurant either. The second thing that annoyed me is they talk to you based on how you look. So a person that looks Hispanic ahead of me they will say hola. Como estas? But a person that does not look stereotypical Hispanic. (Me) they switch right to english. And say can i help you. (In a very annoyed tone to add). How do they know I don't speak Spanish or vice versa. There are plenty of Filipino people that go to pollo campero. I just think you should have a set language they speak and let that customer dictate which language they prefer to speak with you. I don't think it's fair to asume the language you speak based on (whatever criteria they use) how they look. When people of different cultures look so differnt. Anyhoo to end my rant.
