First off the chicken was good but the wait time not so good. I would give 3 stars but the cleanliness of the place grossed me out. Salsa bar was dirty and all covered in sauce. A good friend of mine brought me to try this place. It looked like a dump, but at the time I tried it to be nice. I was so wrong! This quickly became one on my favorite restaurants, and I've been coming there since 2013 when my friend showed it to me. They have since remodeled, and it looks much better now. You would think it's just another fast food place, but their quality goes far above and beyond. Their prices are amazing for the amount of food and quality they give. It turns out it's the best rotisserie chicken I've ever tasted. It's what I compare all chicken to now. Even fine dining restaurants can't make rotisserie chicken as good as they do at El Pollo Regio. Even though I've been going there since 2013 I still have never ordered anything but the chicken. The chicken is just that incredible. The salsa/condiments bar and free chips are incredible too. I would go there 3 or 4 times a week if they were closer to my house. I live on the southwest side of McKinney, so the restaurant is a bit too far out of the way for me in most situations. I also do wish they kept the restaurant a little cleaner. I understand they get busy and can't get out to clean the tables, but I've been there on multiple occasions when they aren't busy and it's still nasty. In fact, it's so unclean my wife refuses to eat there even though she does love the chicken too. Their poor cleanliness is my only real complaint. Bring some disinfecting wet wipes with you so you can wipe down your own table. read more

This place rocks. The food here is a bit more authentic than what you'd find in a typical Tex-Mex restaurant. The pork tortas are delicious and they have molcajete and other tasty salsas on the salsa bar, along with peppers, pickled onions, etc. I don't care if I happen to be the only person in here that doesn't speak Spanish - I love this place. I need to try other stuff on the menu, but the tortas are so good that I haven't tried anything else yet after about a dozen visits. read more

I tried the half chicken and was excellent, the place was very crowded at my arrival and even with the register broken not reading the cards the lady was very attentive, fast and nice. Same all the people in the back cooking and running. The only bad thing was a lady without uniform fixing tables who looked really mad like if she's doesn't want to be there. They recently renovated this location. I've never dined in but I've given the drive through a couple of whirls. I've never been disappointed. I always order the half chicken meal and it always seems fresh off the grill. It is pretty much perfectly spiced chicken to me. I always get extra salsa verde - theirs is a creamy jalapeño like sauce that is just plain freaking good. It is spicy, but I nonetheless light my tongue up every time. The meal comes with beans and rice. The beans are pretty tasty too - especially for fast food. I've also tried their chicken mole which is good and their torta. The hubs tried a burger of all things once and said he wouldn't go for the burger again. read more

Picked up some chicken for dinner tonight via drive thru. Im extremely disappointed. My chicken was dry & you could easily tell that this chicken either cooked earlier that day and had been sitting around for quite some time or was reheated and thrown into a bag for me to take home. I've tried this location several times and they've not had very good service. The drive thru mike has never work and I had to drive to the window to order. The first time trying them breakfast was an hour and a half ordeal. They open at 8 and by 8:20 one one finally showed up to open the restaurant. We usually like their food hence we decided to go and get dinner. Supposedly they close at 10pm however we arrived about 9:20pm. They must have started shutting down around 9 because we noticed other customers leaving empty handed but thought they had finished their meal. So we went in and all the chairs were up on the tables and they swept the floor. I said I thought you closed at 10? The young worker said "we are open but don't have chicken"..??? Isn't that what they sell??? So they are turning away customers because the want to shut down an hour early... so disappointing. read more

Absolutely love their tacos! They are a little pricey but def are worth it, every now and then. They're chicken is also spectacular! The only issue I have is the service sucks. The wait in drive thru line is unacceptably long. It literally took a lady 10 mins just to take my order then another 20 mins to get me my food. Haven't been back to this location in over a year and decided to go thru the drive thru. I was the only car there at 4:30 in the afternoon and service took 15 minutes which is way too long with only one car in line. If I drive near this place, I have to stop. Their BBQ chicken is outstanding. I highly recommend that you try the 1/2 chicken lunch special. This is a very different BBQ chicken from Texas BBQ. It is well seasoned, but not spicy. The salsa bar has everything from mild to spicy, but their green jalapeno sauce is the definite one to try (and most popular). So Today Was My First Time Visiting This Place , The chicken was delicious I've heard a lot of complaints about the cashiers so I went to see if it was true but by being my first time I say the very opposite I got very well service , I still remember the cashier that attended me her name is lupita (i had to ask her her name) I even gave her $10 of tips I've never been so pleased with a cashier before . I'm really picky by the way but no she was so nice , with a big smile , she took my order to my table and was constantly asking me if I needed something else and she did the same with others and the other cashiers would just yell out the orders . She was very polite and I just had to thank her for her great service , definitely going back ! So to anyone that wants good service I really recommend you to go with her !
