I commute for work so I eat out daily I try to pick "healthy " options as this is one of them and use to frequent these locations often as I would get the sauce on top of the tropichops. Staff have always had a hard time putting th sauce on top but I think recently it's become policy for them to only put it in ramekins (sauce containers) only giving two & they only have a drop of sauce inside. This is not a one off occurrence as anytime I get the sauce on the side they are not even filled half way. Lucky to get 1/3 of sauce. read more

This location has gone down. Inside is filthy. I ordered on the app and when I went to pick up at the time the app originally told me, they said it would be an hour even though they weren't busy. The food isn't even that great. The large portions aren't much bigger than the regular portions. Mac n cheese container wasn't even filled. Ordered a large plantains and got a small. WORST FOOD EVER!!! Ordered Ropa Vieja. The rice was like glue. The pork, onions, peppers had no juice to cure the problem. The black beans were so dry they did not resolve the dry issue either. The $15 bowl looked NOTHING like the billboard just up Dale Mabry from this store. I will NEVER be back to this store and probably not to any other Pollo Tropical if this is an example of what to expect. I have only been to this Pollo Tropical location twice in my life (once in 2017 and once in 2024) and it has changed drastically between those two visits. Back when Pollo Tropical wasn't super popular, this was one of few locations in South/Central Florida. It was a unique gem my family and I discovered to have some authentic Cuban and Puerto Rican inspired foods such as arroz con pollo and sweet plantains. Back then, it was a clean establishment with nice seating options, quick service, and large portions. While portions are still a great bang for your buck, the rest has gone severely downhill. I did not see any people cleaning the store while customers ate when I went earlier this year. There was rice and beans all over the ground, seats, and tables, and the service was slower than before due to an influx of popularity for this chain. I would like to emphasize the Americanization and urbanization of this restaurant that is deteriorating the quality of the food and the authenticity of the overall experience. Pollo Tropical's 'About Us' section on their website states "Miami roots and a recipe for fresh 24-hour citrus-marinated chicken, Pollo Tropical® began offering guests across Florida a creative take on traditional Cuban dishes, as well as foods from other parts of Latin America, over 35 years ago." This is just no longer the case! In 2024, the vibes and interior decoration of Pollo Tropical are drastically different from 2017. I remember the old Pollo Tropical layout having more of a play on Latin American design: patchwork seat fabric, yellow lighting, Latin wall art, etc. Now, it just looks like a minimalist generalization of 'tropical' environments. Though there is a large Hispanic population there, it is so oversimplified with beiges, teals, and greens that it alters the entire experience, thus diminishing Latin culture and design. Given that the popularity of this chain has grown dramatically, I hoped they would have improved their quality and menu accordingly. However, when I looked at the menu in 2017 versus 2024, I was shocked at how many previous options were done away with. My theory is there are more American and Cuban dishes in order to bring in a larger crowd, but that reduces the options for those of us who came for an authentic taste for cheap prices. What I miss most are the palette-cleansing guava bars that came with each meal. Now, there are only large desserts and no small treats. My grandfather from Puerto Rico himself is particularly disappointed with how Pollo Tropical has valued quantity over quality in recent years. Particularly at this establishment the dishes feel slapped together. We come here with a craving for that authentic original taste, but there are too many changes to the menu for that to happen. read more

Pollo tropical is my go to when they're around me. Two chicken breasts, rice and beans $8.49 - for the healthy conscious people. I ordered the Avocado Grilled Chicken TropiChop for lunch. I liked that the bowl wasn't extra saucy. My ordered came with more sauce on the side though so that's a plus!! I hate when my food is drenched and soggy from too much sauce. Because I ordered from UberEats, I wish I could have ordered my bowl with no beans because it made the bowl mushy. I ordered a side of plantains which were very delicious, but a bit too oily for me. I'd definitely order this again, but next time I'll have to go into the restaurant and customize my order. Pollo Tropical is a chain restaurant that specializes in grilled chicken and Latin/Caribbean inspired food. I've eaten at this branch a handful of times, mostly after Transformers hunting in the adjacent Target. The interior is generally clean, though sometimes a few wrappers/receipts are lying around. The ordering is similar to most fast food restaurants(order at the front and go when receipt number is called). The employees are efficient , but not the most effervescent. They offer chicken sandwiches, tropichops (rice/meat/veggie bowls), sides like sweet plaintains, and desserts like flan or cheesecake slices. What's cool is that they have 5-6 distinct sauces you can apply to your food at a sauce station nearby. This also carries jalapenos and onions that are diced. One of these is Cilantro Garlic. This is basically my raison d'etre for coming here. I usually get the yellow rice/chicken/veggie bowl and load up on the Cilantro garlic sauce. Its one of the few condiments/sauces that fits into "CRACK" status. The chicken pieces are juicy and well cooked but there are few pieces just like Chipotle/Moes' et al. The rice and veggies are serviceable imo. Flan and cheesecake were solid and are priced well ($2.50). This branch is generally filled older hispanic people and families and is busy at lunch but not really in the evenings. There is a drive thru but sometimes they forget the sauces. I recommend dine in if possible. Most people would probably rate this 3/5 but the chicken/CG sauce bumps it up to 4/5 for me. read more

First, I like Pollo Tropical. I'm reviewing the chicken wings since they are new. This was my second time ordering them. My first experience, the wings seemed smaller and cooked to perfection. This order of wings was larger, and seemed to be more wet but done. I dont like wet chicken. The wings are fried naked and cooked to order, so that means fresh. I didnt request for them to be cooked longer because it took about 15 minutes to get them and I was starving. The wings have a similar citrusy taste as the regular chicken. They can be ordered as traditional or BBQ. Overall the wings are good. I will order the wings again and make a special request for smaller wings if possible and to cook longer. read more

I asked an employee about why is this place so dirty and he apologized but he said he walked into this that is not his fault. Danny the manager is supposedly on the grill. I have been to this place twice. The food here is good. There is good grilled master behind the kitchen make the grilled chicken great. We have the two dishes for $10.99 with our coupon in the mail. It make the food very economical. We have quarter grilled chicken and one tropical chop. For the chop, we selected the mojo pork. Both dishes are delicious. The chicken grilled perfectly with good marinate. We also have the fried yuca. The yuca is cut into cube. I like the cube better because the batter cover more area. We did not try their drive through but the inside order is quick. There are plenty of parking spot at the facility. After eating, they pickup the dishes. What a service for the fast food.
