My company bought lunch from this place. Really good tacos. I got a mini tacos plate: beef fajita and chicken fajita. These are really good tacos at a very good price point based on the menu. Green salsa was great, beans were fine as well. I didn't get rice with my order, unfortunately. I really liked the pineapple agua fresca -- it was not a sugar overload like in some other places but actually was nice and refreshing. And huge. I didn't expect to drink nearly half a gallon of pineapple today (). Overall, my order was pretty solid when it comes to flavor and quality, too bad no rice for me lol

Fantastic! Friendly staff, great food and quick service. It was busy when we arrived but orders came out fast. I got a burrito, delicious. My friends got tacos, a burrito and a quesadilla- everyone loved their food. Every order had a good amount of stuff too. There's plenty of seating options inside. Highly recommend!

I was looking for some legit Mexican food one day, and Pollos Asados El Norteno popped up. They say they make grilled/roasted chicken and stuff. But after trying their chicken and ribs, I'd actually skip those. Their ribs are tough, meat sticks to the bone, and the collagen has not sufficiently broken down; their chicken exterior is embued with spots which are black and bitter. Instead, I'd go for any of the meats they have available to stuff in tacos, gorditas, and tortas. Their charro beans are quite forgettable--quite watery and bland (unseasoned). Their rice is ok. They offer some aqua frescas, but I haven't tried them yet. They also offer some soups, which I still need to try. I did try a platter that had their grilled chicken, ribs, sausage, onion, and jalapeño. Out of those, only the sausage, onion, and jalapeño were delightful to consume. Their tacos, however, are capable of brightening even the dimmest of tastebuds. The place is located in a gas station strip mall. Plenty of parking. Within the establishment, they have a few hardtop booths. You can order in person at the register, or you can order online through their website. On their website, they have an alternate location in Hutto. This place will be on the regular as a taco stop for me. P.S. the associated traffic light for the relevant intersection sometimes has sensor issues.

Anyone that introduce to this place can't stop talking about if after they leave town. Colleagues alway ask about retuning when they visit. Food is great. Service is quick. Tacos, Torta, Chicken and Flautas in that order.

You walk in and the smell of the food greets you. It's been a while since I've been to a place that really does that. Before you get to the counter you know you're about to have a satisfying meal. The laid it down with the breakfast tacos, and the best part is that the price is right. We went on labor day so I wasn't sure they would be open but I was so happy they were. As for the tacos themselves?

Pollo asado, carnitas and barbacoa are always super good. They don't make their own tortillas but the tacos are still bomb. Last time I ordered for pick up it wasn't ready when I got there but they gave me a big tub of each of the salsas and some extra grilled chilis to make up for it. Place is small but clean.

Found a new grilled chicken place and it is fantastic. The chicken is grilled Mexican style with savory red sauces. So tasty, and great price. Kudos to the owners. They started with a food truck, and because of delivering great food and service at great price they were able to expand to store side. Granted it is a little drive out in East Austin, but well worth it. Their other dishes are yummy as well. I got their pastor burrito and it was out of this world. Not stuffed with a bunch of rice, and little meat like the other places. This was full of savory pork, crisp lettuce and tomatoes. Also, their sauces are out of this world. The green and what I call orange have a brilliant unique flavor full of just the right heat. I alternated between the two with every bite of my burrito and it complemented the flavor explosion. Their beans were also very tasty. Wife and I look forward to coming back many times to try the other dishes.

Since moving to Austin this is our #1 Mexican restaurant they are always consistent with the food the seasoning, sauce and of course friendly faces. Tonight we ordered the carne asada papas it was absolutely mouth watering and HUGE portion. I thought I missed Roberto's from Las Vegas after tonight's dinner "who's Roberto's". Lol Carnitas quesadillas the hubby can eat this everyday he said it was juicy, cooked to perfection and enough for 2 people This is my go to when we want Mexican food done right

One of my favorite burritos in Austin and for only about $10! Burrito was generously filled with beef and I'll likely be back soon

I wrote a bad review of this place a few months ago. But, I couldn't stop myself from giving it a try. Since the poor service I got, the last 10 times or so I've been here the service has been fast and mostly courteous. As a result, I deleted my review. I have not met the owner or anyone from the place about my old negative review, but ya know, I really didn't need to. This place proved itself. There is no denying that my wife and I love this place, especially for the amazing roasted chicken. Unless you like "white people" flour tortillas (as an RGV native that's a big hell nah from me), I would recommend avoiding the flour tortillas and ordering their corn tortillas for all their tacos. The Asada tacos plain, with avocado and cheese, are my go to. You could replace the meat with roasted chicken and it's also incredible. Take them home, sprinkle some salsa, and my my a taste of the RGV. Weekly go to. Usually get a pollo entero for my wife and I. It's delicious! Breakfast tacos are on point, assuming you stick to the corn. I'm an RGV native and those who miss the food can get a taste of home here! My wife is currently sick and I've been ordering her caldo de pollo and she loves it. Highly recommend this place! It's an essential business. It's also especially affordable!

Sixth Street's neon and noise are basically next door, the Capitol sits up the hill, and the whole area is packed with people, bars, and that classic Austin mix of polished downtown hustle and late-night chaos. Velvet Taco is pure counter-service: you walk right up, order at the register, and then grab a seat. There's plenty of seating, so even with a couple of kids in tow it was no problem finding a spot. The place leans hard into what can only be called white-people tacos--soft, sad flour tortillas that taste like they came straight out of a grocery-store package, loaded with every wild creation the kitchen can invent. Global mashups, brunch hybrids, burger impostors, the works. No one is pretending these are the real deal. I went for the chicken-and-waffles taco, which was actually built on a thin, real waffle instead of a tortilla. Surprisingly good--crispy, a little sweet, chicken holding its own. The burger taco tasted exactly like a cheeseburger that had wandered into a tortilla and decided to stay. We also tried the shrimp taco (fine), one daughter got the kids' chicken taco (perfectly kid-level), and the other ordered the chicken tikka (spicy, saucy, and very much in the "why is this on a tortilla?" category). Everything was okay. Comparable to Torchy's in that same creative-American-taco lane. If you're looking for a true Mexican taco, stay far away. But if you just want to play around with some decent flavors on a cheap flour store-bought tortilla while sitting in the middle of downtown Austin, this is your spot. Not my favorite. Glad I tried it. Won't be back.

I ordered 4 tacos: the migas, migas poblano, shrimp macha (!!), and the Dona Reyna tacos. All of these specific tacos were priced between $6 and $6.75 per taco, not bad in Austin, and not bad considering the quality of said tacos. As you can see from my order, I opted on the more "novel" choices and they did not disappoint; that said, I do HIGHLY recommend the two variations of the migas taco and the shrimp macha taco. Oh, the shrimp macha was so FIRE, the flavors were bold and smoky with a kiss of heat. The migas tacos were FULLY LOADED, and the scramble with the tortilla chips were flavorul.
