Walking in, it has a total mom and pop shop feel. The menu is extensive, and the portion sizes are even bigger. The yelp check in for the pita fries is a must too, the hummus is delicious! I was surprised by the amount of lemonade related drink options they had. I was joking with my friends that they should have a lemonade flight option, like what they have at breweries because we all wanted to try the flavors! Hubby and I were picking up our daughter-in-law before heading to Newport so decided to grab a bite close by the airport. So surprised to find this Diamond so close to the airport. We were seated immediately. Service was very quick and prices were very reasonable. I got the chicken wrap and salad... $10.50. Ridiculous! You can get the lamb and beef for the same amount! It was delicious and PACKED with chicken. More than any restaurant I've seen. Hubby got beef filet shish... I didn't even get a bite so I assume it was really good!! And finally... the Baklava was the best I have ever had. Usually the Baklava I've had is dripping with honey. Pom and Olive had the absolute perfect amount and us made with Pistachios. Amazing! We love Pom & Olive!! The wraps are so good and the pita fries are a must! I always get the cauliflower shawarma or the falafel shawarma wraps. I wish I could give it a better review, but my first experience was not good at all. I was very excited because I don't usually get Mediterranean. I wanted to try a few different things, so I went with some apps. They were all very disappointing. Apparently, the kabab plates are well worth it. The others that ordered them, had a great meal. The owner/manager did everything she could to make it right, so that was very appreciated. The tatziki was a little bland, not enough cucumbers, the pita fries were a bit greasy, the borek was tasteless and greasy and the dolmades practically had no meat in them, all rice. Any concerns brought up by this restaurant being on the Travelodge were quickly dashed once we passed through the front door. The aroma emanating from the kitchen set our senses off and stomachs yearning for food! We were warmly greeted and promptly seated. Cocktails and wine were served in a timely fashion. Great menu selection - we got the hummus to start and then I ordered the chicken kabob for my entree. The hummus was good and the chicken was great. Also great prices - can hardly find affordable restaurants anymore these days. Service was just ok - we were waiting for the bill for a while because we didn't know you go up to the counter to pay. These reviews have to be fake. You cannot have that many 5 stars at once. And I'm not trying to hurt the restaurant because i think it is small, family owned. Which i love to support. But 5 is a lie. I just ordered meatballs which were ok, nothing crazy but I wanted to make some pasta and had no meatballs. I also ordered the pomegranate stew and it was in edible! No way a persian or mediterrean made that. They dumped a bag of sugar and there were almost 2 inches of crappy oil in my to-go container at the top. Was super disappointed in the food and service at this restaurant. We ordered the hummus, the pita bread was so nasty. Our main dishes were even worse, the meat was dry and the flavor was awful. Placing my order over the phone was easy and picking it up was easy. I got the veggie combo plate without rice and they added more salad without me asking. The falafel was tasty and the veggies (tomato, zucchini & onion) were perfect. I also ordered the fried cauliflower which was AMAZING! The garnish (I think it's red cabbage) under both orders was actually quite delicious. The only thing I didn't think was great was the hummus. My hubby and I were craving for some Turkish dish. We found Pom & Olive and we were NOT disappointed. It wasn't a busy night at the restaurant and the place was quite cozy, so we walked in and were seated immediately. The sweet, friendly, and helpful lady who took our order (assuming is the owner) and we ordered the Turkish tea for our drinks, Lentil Soup and Fried Pita Fries as starters, Beyti Kebab (lamb) and Iskender Kebab (beef) as entrees. Let me start with the tea. It tastes indeed like the tea we had when we were in Turkey. The warm tea was rich in flavor and perfect for this cold weather, and to top it off, it is free refill. The starters were definitely worth every penny. The Lentil soup was so flavorful and Fried Pita (complimentary part of Yelp check in) was crunchy and perfect combo with the hummus dipping. Last but certainly not the least, the main courses, were absolutely delish! We're kinda sensitive when it comes to lamb meat due to its strong smell. However, the Beyti Kebab definitely hit the spot and the gravy was just perfecto, as well as the Iskender, tho my husband thought the beef was a bit hard but still delightful. So pleased to be able to dine in somewhere with good food! The food is very tasty and the staff very attentive and kind. Good filling portions for the entrees and some of the kebab or shawarma plates could even be shared between two people easily (with maybe an appetizer for a full meal). Our pita that came with one of our appetizers was a bit hard, which seemed to me like it was either a day old or not heated up well like so of the other. Everything was good, but nothing was over the top amazing to make it 5/5 stars. String quality for a good price. Food breakdown: -Taste of Mediterranean starter: three really good dips (hummus, babaganoush, and tatziki) the flavor on the babaganoush was exceptional! This is where the pita was not soft on some of them. -Chicken Curry Stew: really tasty and a lot of chicken! But also a way different flavor than typical Mediterranean so it would have been better for my palate to have everything more the same, but no big complaints here -Veggie Combo: loved this and probably best dish of the three! The veggies were roasted super nicely and the falafel was really good! Both came with a Mediterranean salad side, which was really good for a basic salad, and either Basmati or lentil and raisin rice. Both rice options were great!
