First time visiting and love their Sunday brunch buffet!! $49 for adult and $24 for children. You get carved prime rib, salad bar, soup, crab legs, cocktail shrimp, beef rib, cookies, variety of slices of cake (lemon, chocolate, strawberry cheesecake) and pudding / jello cups. There is also a separate area for Mexican dishes which I liked. Chilaquiles and can't forget unlimited refills of champagne and juice to make your mimosa. Their beef rib and prime rib is the perfect combo! Very satisfying! Would come back again!!

Sitting on the hill above Pomona is this rustic place that has an incredible salad bar, & soup station as well. The view is fantastic. I remember this place from wedding receptions and Christmas parties. So mid week sounded like a good deal. Hostess was friendly and accommodating. The server was very nice as well. Service was prompt and our drinks were good. My friend ordered a New York steak and I ordered the Baby back Ribs The meat from the ribs literally fell off the bone. I did not order any sides as the salad bar and soup were included.. The ribs were plenty and the steak would make just about any carnivore happy. The parking lot is spacious and it is very rustic. Once inside there are stairs. So if you have difficulty with stairs beware and go slow. Otherwise a great place for steaks and ribs!

Let me start off with the view, it was breathtaking! We came to eat at sunset one random Friday and were sat at a booth. Normally I don't expect much from the food when I know you're paying for a view but. Was pretty impressed how great the food tasted. It was a lovely night spent with great food and very attentive staff. We were well taken care of. Excited for their events that they wi be holding.

First time going to Pomona Valley Mining Co., and this review is based on my experience of the UCSC presentation workshop there. We went there with our daughter, and the venue was great. We had complimentary valet parking that day because UCSC paid for it. The ambiance is nice, and the view is beautiful. We first went downstairs to check out the university information, and then we had a self-serve buffet lunch upstairs. The banquet room is spacious. It had a lot of food on that day. Most of the food tasted great, except the beef was chewy. The event was well-organized, and they were very generous. The service was attentive that day. They took away my empty plate after I finished my lunch, and also refilled the iced tea and iced water. I would visit Pomona Valley Mining Co. for their dinner.

I've always been curious about this place on the hilltop whenever I pass it driving on the 10 fwy, and finally made it here for a celebration. While I'm glad I checked it off the list, the food was nothing to rave about. To be fair, the staff was great. The hostess and our server were super friendly and helpful. However, the food just wasn't anything special. I had the prime rib, filet mignon, and a baked potato. That said, it didn't ruin the night. I kind of went in with the mindset that you're paying for the vibe anyway. The old mining decor is unique and the view of the valley is nice. I think it's a good idea to come for a drink and the scenery, but maybe keep average expectations for the meal.

Came here for the Mother's Day brunch and it was definitely worth it. A lot of food options and a lot of desserts. Minus one star because I feel like the hostess was a bit unprofessional. It's mother's day and I'm there with my mom and he says "you here for anything special?" And "yeah it's just a like of walking in here it kind of sucks" He was a young kid. But it's still unprofessional to mention something that "sucks" plus come on It's Mother's Day. Why do you think two women are there lol

My first time ever coming to Pomona Valley Mining Co which is literally located right off the freeway. I have seen their huge sign many times but just never got around to coming here. I went here early for a Sunday Brunch which is an all-you-can-eat buffet style. There are many separate sections around the entire place. It is rustic and looks like a dark wooden mine. There is a dessert section, hot meats, and a salad area. Overall I did find that the food was pretty good. With many different items that you can get. You can also get a freshly made omelet from the chefs or carved out meats as well. Oh yeah also make a reservation because this place is quite busy on Sunday! Enjoy :)

Not my favorite buffet, but not the worst one I've been to either. The perennial offering of prime rib was very good as was the omlette station taking a request to make my Up Easy eggs sunny and runny with the best of restaurants. But the biscuits and gravy, miner potatoes, and ham was very poor. The waffles and simple chafing dish scrambled eggs, but that's very routine stuff for a buffet. The service was great though. The free mimosas and juices were provided quickly, and the dirty plates were getting cleared as fast as they piled up. They even took special requests like Bloody Mary's like champs. Lastly, I thought the ambience was fair. I found the hallways too tight and inconvenient. I also thought the layout of the buffet stations confusing and ill-planned. They should've all been grouped together more tightly, or even have a dedicated dining room set aside from them instead of so spaced out. I almost didn't know there were three locations--like a scavenger hunt--to the buffet. I also found the mining theme kitschy and inauthentic as they very easily could've had the actual decor from mining outfits shipped in. In summation, this was a good approximation of a nice buffet but there were many areas it could have been approved. I probably won't be back.

After living nearby for almost 20 years and driving past this place countless times, we finally decided to try it for a date night--and I'm honestly wondering why we waited so long. The restaurant is set in an old mine on top of a hill, which already makes it feel unique, but the view takes it to another level. The ambiance is dim, romantic, and has this charming, slightly rustic vibe that reminded me of Ghost Town at Knott's Berry Farm (in the best way). We started with a couple of their signature cocktails--the Banana Hammock was good, but the Pickin' Mule was even better. Definitely recommend trying both. For appetizers, we had the calamari steak, which was really good. Entrées come with access to the salad bar, and I have to say--the clam chowder was delicious. For my main dish, I ordered the 8 oz filet mignon cooked medium, and it came out absolutely perfect. The sides (mushrooms and baked potato) were solid, though nothing particularly standout. Service was excellent from start to finish, which really made the whole experience even better. Overall, we found ourselves a new date night spot and will definitely be back.

I came here once a longg time ago with some family, I still think about the free unlimited cheese bread they gave us THE best EVER. I don't remember the service, I would if it was above and beyond but I don't so it's probably the average nice service. The ambiance is BEAUTIFUL the view was amazing, I still remember my first time walking in, .

We had a Sunday brunch reservation and arrived at the restaurant 10 minutes prior to 10 am. The view is pretty, it was a sunny, clear morning. Service was good. Personally the food was just okay. Not much options, most dishes tasted similarly. The place could be a little cleaner. I noticed a piece of dried meat on my chair. We were looking forward to eating the crab legs but got super disappointed as it was cold and the body was iced cold, that made the meat all salty. Scrambled eggs station was okay.

    This was under the table

I knew from the very start that it was going to be horrible because when I tasted my Pepsi, it was flat in a good place should always have a good Pepsi or Coke . I didn't like the salad bar. It was kinda nasty with everybody going up to it in . my dinner the fillet I don't even know if it was a fillet. It was so awful and disgusting looking and so fatty and my mom complained that hers was fatty and hers had a really weird taste to it. we have the same things, but they looked different too so that was odd. My father was prime rib was OK, but it was really fatty. My husband's ribs were a little dry so he didn't like them. It was very unsatisfying the food. And it was a long drive to get there so it was like we were expecting a very nice birthday dinner and it wasn't Here is a picture of what is under the table. It was like gum and stuff and yucky. I did feel nauseous on the way home and I only had three bites of my steak. It was so bad even tiny little bites.

Unfortunately, it turned out to be the worst restaurant experience we've ever had. While we were waiting for the rest of our party to arrive, our waitress offered to bring us cornbread. She never mentioned there was a charge, didn't ask how many we wanted, and simply brought out two orders. Since she offered it and never explained it was an extra charge, we naturally assumed it was complimentary for the birthday celebration. Things only went downhill from there. The rest of our group was given a hard time at the front because they didn't know the exact name the reservation was under. We were also given grief for placing birthday presents on a chair at the end of the table, a chair the staff had placed there. We were told the chair was interfering with the wait staff, even though it wasn't blocking any walkways. It seemed like every interaction came with unnecessary attitude. Once we were all seated, our waitress seemed to have a chip on her shoulder from the start. She never brought out our ranch-style bread, rarely refilled our drinks, and repeatedly reached across the table, passing plates directly in front of people's faces instead of simply walking around to serve them properly. When our dinners arrived, our empty salad and appetizer plates were still sitting on the table. We had to ask her to clear them just so we had room for our meals. If we needed anything, we had to catch her as she hurried past our table because she never stopped to check on us. She would keep walking while we tried to ask for what we needed, so we had to quickly rattle everything off before she disappeared. To top it off, she was openly talking about our table to the guests seated behind us. It was completely unprofessional and made us feel uncomfortable. The level of service was disappointing from beginning to end. When my bill came, the total didn't add up correctly. I politely pointed out the discrepancy, but instead of checking it, she came back with the menu to prove I was wrong. Ironically, the menu proved she was the one who made the mistake. She even tried telling me I was comparing the menu price to a receipt total that included tax. I had to explain that the tax was calculated separately at the bottom of the receipt. Rather than apologize, she walked away and sent the manager over. Thankfully, the manager immediately recognized the error and corrected my bill. By that point, my family had enough and just wanted to pay and leave. To make matters worse, they were told they couldn't pay until everyone at the table had received their bill. The food didn't make up for the service, either. It was hot and humid inside the restaurant, the burger was as tough as a hockey puck, they were out of beef ribs so we settled for pork ribs that were mostly fat, and the steak lacked any flavor. To top it off, the restrooms had a strong urine smell, which only added to the overall poor experience. The only highlights of the evening were the company we were with and the Costco birthday cake we brought ourselves. I had read the recent reviews before coming and hoped people were exaggerating. They weren't!!! I wanted to give this place another chance because of the great memories we had at the one in Colton, but sadly, those memories are all that's left. If you're thinking about making the drive because of nostalgia like we did, I'd recommend reading the recent reviews first. I wish we had listened. We won't be returning. Thanks for a horrible birthday experience, Sundance & staff!

Last night, we returned once again, and it reminded us why this place has become so special to us. To start the meal, we shared the Housemade Artichoke Spinach Dip, which was incredibly creamy, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. It was the perfect way to begin the evening. For our entrées, our group of four ordered one Wagyu Denver Steak and three Crown Roast Pork dishes, which have become our all-time favorites. The Bone-in Iowa Duroc Smoked Mignon of Pork was grilled and glazed to perfection with the restaurant's signature Smoked Pepper BBQ Glaze. We ordered it cooked medium, and it came out juicy, tender, and full of flavor. The Roasted Corn Succotash complemented the pork beautifully. Every dish was outstanding, and the service was equally impressive. Our server, Kim, was wonderful. I sent it back and to their credit, they remade it much better They mentioned they control pours to keep the environment in check, which I understand--but if you're expecting free-pour vibes, that's not the case here. Food-wise: French toast & breakfast potatoes were really good However the Chilaquiles were super dry and lacked flavor--wouldn't recommend Burger & fries were decent, but nothing special As for drink pricing, it does lean a bit on the higher side. bucket of 5 beers was around $42, $15 for a Tito's vodka shot, and even a basic Jack and Coke came out to about $18 with tip, which felt a little steep for the area. the best deal was definitely the green tea shots at only $9 I will say, our waitress Priscilla was great. She had a lot of tables and seemed a bit overwhelmed, but she still made an effort to check on us and kept my mimosas coming pretty promptly. I didn't have to wait long at all between refills, which I appreciated. Since we went for a special event, the DJs were great and really kept the energy up the whole time Parking was easy. It did say there was a $2 fee, but when we printed the ticket, we weren't charged--so it might be free, but I'd still double-check at the kiosk just in case. Overall: decent spot for the vibe, music, and brunch outing, but just be prepared for controlled drinks and slightly higher prices.

Celebrating my wife's birthday at Owen's Bistro…read more We made reservations on Yelp and when we came in we were promptly seated in the outdoor patio. Nice open air area with a nice breeze on a warm summer night. Our waiter Jordan, was very knowledgeable about the menu and made some great suggestions. We ended up ordering two excellent entrees, the Rack of Lamb with mushrooms and the Pineapple glazed Pork chops with Shrimp. The restaurant gave my wife a nice birthday dessert to end our dinner on a sweet note.

As a visual person, it did hamper the ambiance for me, especially since I was sitting right next to it. We were the only table that wasn't a couple, and even when it got more crowded, the noise level was pleasantly low. Our server asked us how we felt about salt, which was very much appreciated. AMARETTO SOUR: 3/5. Very sweet, and orange-forward which is a new flavor profile for this cocktail for me. BREAD & WHIPPED BUTTER: 5/5. Served warm. The bread was pillowy soft, and the butter, (which was more air than butter and therefore definitely zero calories), was delightfully salty. BRUSSELS SPROUTS: 5/5. I've been burned by so many poorly done sprouts that I don't order them anymore, but my partner wanted to try it and I'm so glad we got them. Zero bitterness, and crispier than an newly minted dollar bill. OCTOPUS: 5/5. Grilled to perfection, soft, not rubbery. The spices in the romesco sauce were aromatic and punchy. STEAK TARTARE: 4/5. Good. These crostinis were the most crostinis to have ever crostinied. The perfect vessel for the rich steak. MUSHROOM SOUP: 5/5. This is the first time I've found balance between being truffle-forward without being overbearing. Usually I'm done after about two spoonfuls, but all 3 bowls (shared between 6 of us) were cleaned. SURF & TURF: 5/5. Owen's checks internal and external temperature, which means steak is cooked true to the way it's ordered. More impressive is that they didn't overcook the lobster. A moment for the gorgeous blue plates; they are heirlooms, and only 7 of them exist in the world. CHILEAN SEA BASS: 4/5. For me, the radish did a lot of heavy lifting in balancing out the saltiness of the soy vinaigrette and richness of the fish itself. STEAK FRITES: 4/5. Again, perfectly cooked steak. I only had one fry, and I thought it was a damn good fry, but my partner did say it eventually got salty. And he loves his salt. CAMPING TRIP: 5/5. The crust on the salmon, the theatrics of the hot rock, the fresh veggies. It's a classic for a reason. MAITAKE MUSHROOM: 4/5. While it was good, I didn't find myself continuously reaching for more, as I nearly always do with mushrooms. ROBUCHON POTATOES: 5/5. AKA indulgent, buttery velvet. A labor of love well received. STRAWBERRY TART: 5/5. While the strawberries were phenomenal, the vanilla (?) custard was a little heavy for me. My mom inhaled it though. CRÈME BRÛLÉE: 5/5. So good. I don't know when it became normalized to serve crème with an Ozempic-thin layer of brûlée, but thank you Owen's for not doing that.

I ended up in the corner, which was a perfect spot to enjoy the atmosphere and do a little people watching. They have a great happy hour and daily specials. The guy next to me ordered the Wagyu burger, and it looked incredible. The fries were huge quartered potatoes that looked just as good. He said everything was amazing. My server, Clint, recommended the Fidelity red blend. I'm usually a Pinot Noir drinker, but this was a great choice and paired really well with my filet and lobster tail. The steak was cooked perfectly, the lobster was excellent, and even the drawn butter was served at the right temperature. I finished with the peach tart for dessert, and it was delicious. I also met Anthony, one of the owner's sons, who was making his way around the restaurant checking on guests. Both he and Clint were friendly and attentive all evening. Great food, great service, and a fun atmosphere. I'll definitely be back.

My wife and I ordered the surf and turf for the first time and I have to say, the lobster was bad. It looked great upon arrival but it lacked flavor. The only way to get some flavor was to lightly sprinkle butter on it ( which I never do ). The texture told me it wasn't fresh. The 8oz filet was also lacking in flavor and was brought cooked rare. ( I ordered med rare ). I figured a good steak, I could do it rare and be ok but lo and behold, fail. My wife's was not much better and hers was served med rare. I will go back but will never order the steak of lobster. For that meal, I will go to The Derby or Eddie V's.

Wasn't busy when we walked in and when we left there were quite a few people waiting to place their orders. Not sure if they are short staffed or just not adequately staffed but there was one employee taking the orders and making the food. Gotta give it to the guy working because he still offered great service. We ordered a steak bachi-rito and it was good. Not much steak for the price $17 and the seared ahi tuna entree. Food looked ok at best. Rice wasn't your typical friend rice. No egg or veggies or any other protein for that matter. Little skimpy on veggies but they did have good flavor. I wanted to love my seared tuna but it lacked flavor. Thank goodness for their sauces which were great. I slathered my tuna in their ginger sauce and garlic butter and it's exactly what the food needed. This place certainly has potential. I will certainly try this place again perhaps not so late in the day.

Shredded beef, tomatoes (not pico de gallo), black beans, fresh crisp jalapeños (not pickled), etc. You get the picture of what everything is. - Gluten-free burger was NOT IT, unfortunately, which is a shame because there's not many gluten-free options at every restaurant. - Vegan jambalaya with shrimp was okay. My friends and I summarize this restaurant as being "great for apps and cocktails" and not the best for dinner. It's sort of in a tucked away location. I nearly walked into Gus's BBQ because I missed the sign pointing to the Whisper House entrance. Plenty of free street and structure parking in downtown Claremont since it's a college town. Servers were attentive and noticed when we needed refills and answered our questions.
