Texas Chicken Fried Steak with gravy, double mashed potatoes, texas toast and a grilled jalapeño with coconut cream pie for dessert. Delicious!!

Step back in time at Poor Richard's Cafe, the oldest restaurant in Plano. The inside is festooned with military flags and many of the patrons are like me, senior citizens. The reason it's been around so long and popular with seniors (and families) is that the portions are huge and the prices are lower than most breakfast spots. Service was quick and the food was incredible. I had the chicken fried steak which was so big that it took up an entire plate by itself. It came with sausage gravy and a biscuit, grits, and three eggs. $18 for all that. My wife had the spinach bacon and cheese omelet with an extra pancake.

Hearty breakfast spot! Great staff and good breakfast that you can pick from. The lines are out the doors so come early!

Lunch specials of home cooked menu. Service was excellent never an empty glass. Food was tasty and fresh. Daily lunch specials included entree. 3 sides and dessert !

Came here on a Sunday afternoon and the wait wasn't too bad! There is PLENTY of seating and staff. Our waitress, Maria, was very kind and constantly ready to serve and answer questions. Everyone was happy with their food and the volume wasn't too loud inside-except for our group I will for sure be back!

Saturday morning visit, first visit. No wait for a party of six. The food was good overall. Multiple people ordered the home fries and somehow one order was cold. The server did bring a hot order out as a replacement. You're able to grab additional condiments from nearby carts that also have to go containers. It is a family spot so at times it was noisy but overall the noise level was fine. Good home cooked breakfast.

We walked in to a very cool cafe diner style vibe, very busy on a Sunday brunch visit. Greeted with a smile & seated pretty quickly. Waitresses were very attentive the entire visit. I've heard of this place for years, decided to stop in. Was not disappointed and will return for sure. I went with French toast, bacon, scrambled eggs, side of hash browns, my lady went with pecan waffles, country potatoes and sausage patties, fresh hot coffee all around. Food was fresh and hot, hash browns could have been cooked just a bit longer, my lady was not very pleased with sausage patties. We'll be back and enjoy another visit. If you've heard of Poor Richard's Cafe and haven't stopped in yet. Don't hesitate like I did. True diamond in the rough. Enjoy, stay safe

I used to love this breakfast café. It was my reliable weekend spot with fluffy pancakes, solid omelettes, and decent prices. Then the ownership changed, and everything went downhill fast. The pancakes are now dense and rubbery, the omelette was overcooked and bland with greasy canned-tasting fillings, and the hash browns were both soggy and burnt. Service was slow and indifferent--our waitress vanished for 20 minutes and brought the wrong dishes with zero apology. Worst of all? Nearly $80 for two basic breakfasts, coffee, and a side of chicken strips. This isn't elevated dining--it's mediocre food with inflated prices. As she took our payment, the new owner didn't even bother to ask "how was everything" deep down she knows. I am shocked this place is still in business.

Solid classic American diner food! Service was also pretty good and it just feels like a standard classic breakfast spot inside.

ZERO STARS FOR SERVICE It was non existent except to take my order. The demographic is literally 60 PLUS! Which, no issues but even THEY had no good customer service minus the regulars. As you know, I usually don't care if the service is garbage when the food is good! Let me tell you, that chicken fried steak was DELICIOUS! It was actually real chicken, pounded down with a light crust and some yummy gravy on top! Normally you get that thick crust with mystery meat! Nope, not this one, you knew it was FRESH AND HOME MADE! Everything else, skip. Biscuits looked great and home made as well.

This was a favorite of my long time friend and I could see why, the menu was home style and good sized portions, clean restrooms and pleasant servers made this lunchtime meal a good one.

Every time I have ever come to this restaurant, it has always been packed. Now it has been a couple of years since I have been just due to time getting away from me. So let's start with the good, it was Sunday afternoon a little after 11 and we were able to get a seat right away even though it was quite busy. The original waitress took our drink order and brought out our drinks fairly quickly. To be frank, she wasn't very friendly, barely spoke to us and she didn't smile once. And then we waited and waited for our order to be taken. Finally, another waitress came up and took our order and apparently she was our actual waitress. The food didn't seem to take quite as long, but I was very disappointed. I ordered the pecan waffle meal without eggs. The pecan waffle and the home fries were homemade and delicious. I had also ordered sausage patties and I was given those large frozen patties that you can buy at Walmart. I don't like paying for something that comes from the frozen food section. One of my companions for brunch ordered chicken tenders and again received something that was from the frozen food section at Walmart. Overall, the food is decent just know that you're going to get some things that are more homemade and some things that you buy in the frozen foods. The second waitress was very friendly and courteous. Overall, we were happy with our meal. I just think for the price point it could use some improvements.

French toast, soft scrambled eggs, slightly burnt crispy bacon.

Our server had a scowl on her face from the moment she came to the table. (Long dark ponytail) It was 12:30pm & it was not busy (breakfast rush was over.) We had to get up three times to ask for things, our toast & pancakes, napkins, coffee. The three servers working were standing at the front counter talking away with each other our server, at one point, was talking on her cell phone. The food quality has gone down in recent months. Eggs were nice & hot, hash browns were cold, bacon had been good in the past, but our past two visits the bacon has tasted burnt & it has an odd flavor. Toast was over cooked, not buttered, it was not edible. The last time our coffee was refilled was by a man that looked like he had just come out of the kitchen. He was very nice & we were grateful that our coffee was being refilled without having to get up and ask for it. The servers were still lolly gagging behind the counter while the gentleman was refilling our coffee. I have worked in the restaurant business from being a server & also in management. I am very understanding of all angles of what is going on in a restaurant setting. The service on Saturday was the worst service I have ever experienced. Rude & unapologetic, it was as if we were inconveniencing her. We will not be returning.
