If we lived nearby, we would definitely be here often. We shared a breakfast burrito and a pop over sandwich. I also got a coffee and we shared a smoothie. Everything that we ordered was really good and tasted fresh. We ordered upon arrival and while it was really busy, it didn't take that long to get our food. There is minimal space to wait and did get crowded on the weekend. We will be back for sure when we're in town! read more

The food here was mediocre at best. The service was weird, for lack of a better word. We were very unclear about the reason, but our server definitely did not care much for us. She wasn't outright rude, but cold and definitely treated us very differently than her other tables. I would definitely not return here. read more

Not bad, but do not recommend if you have allergies! Fun selection of coffee. I have severe dairy and peanut allergies, I ordered the non-dairy milkshake and had a severe reaction. I understand contamination happens but if it is possible/likely, the employees should not say things like "don't worry, you'll be fine!". Instead just warn the customer cross contamination will try be avoided but is possible. read more

We ordered a 3 different vegan options to share for breakfast, but we were frustrated that all 3 dishes had very small amounts of the vegan items (cheese, sausage) that were there to replace the meat or dairy counterparts. We sat next to people that were served the non vegan version of a couple of the things we ordered, yet instead of the sprinkles of cold vegan cheese shreds we got with our orders, theirs were heaped with dairy cheese that appeared to have been place under a broiler or otherwise heated so that the cheese melted (btw, there are plenty of good vegan cheeses out there that melt). This place has gone downhill considerably since last time we were there. read more

We were driving to Newport and wanted a late breakfast. We found this cute little cafe on Yelp and it sounded good, so we stopped. Again, so glad I have Yelp to steer me in the right direction! We were seated quickly, and our server, Kaylee, greeted us with a smile and promptly took our order. There were three of us, and we had the Simple Sammie breakfast sandwich (bacon, cheddar, and a fried egg on rye bread), the Yard Goat (avocado toast with roasted cherry tomatoes, crumbled goat cheese, and an over-easy egg), and the Protein Pop (scrambled eggs with bacon, turkey sausage, cheddar, mushrooms, and caramelized onion overflowing on a warm popover). All were delicious, but the Protein Pop was the star of the show--a great combination of ingredients! The only thing lacking was the coffee. My husband had a cup and had to send it back; it tasted like it had been sitting in the pot all morning and was cold. My wife and I went to popovers in Mystic today. The food was very good. Just as we remembered from their Simsbury location. I got the keto breakfast plate. It was delicious. My wife got scrambled eggs with her specified vegetables and cheeses. The service was excellent, we were greeted well. The food took a little while to prepare, but we were in no rush. It definitely appears they get a lot of takeout requests and there was a large party just ahead of us, so I'm sure that has an impact on a small kitchen. They also had an Appliance repair person in, so of course that could have had an impact. We will be back soon, some of the popover dishes coming out of the kitchen look amazing!!! We expected a wait on a Saturday morning but after 40 minutes - and seeing that several tables who were seated after us had been been served - we made an inquiry at the register to check on our meal. A few minutes later our server stopped by our table and said our ticket had just hit 30 minutes - wrong- and walked away rudely. We paid for our drinks and left. Despite everything going wrong the morning I tried Pop Over for the first time, this was one of my favorite vegan breakfasts ever. The staff was super-friendly and pleasant, and even with the steep pricing (everything in Mystic is expensive) this was an awesome experience over all. Thanks to the server who tried to refund me for my coffee after I spilled it all over the place. I had a hunch it was going to come out of your tips and didn't think you deserved that! read more

Fantastic!! Their Popovers are delicious ... warm and toasty on the outside & eggy on the inside!! My lunch favorite is the Harvest Bowl : a mix of roasted butternut squash, apples, grilled chicken, farro, greens, and crumbles of blue cheese! Yum! Four of us went for lunch today, we all ordered the vegan Power bowl. One diner assumed it would be warm because it contain roasted vegetables. It was served cold, the problem was that the kale was not cleaned correctly, had great, big inedible veins running through it. Chopping and sautéing. It would have made it 100 times better. Not enough roasted vegetables. I forgot it even contain farro until my daughter reminded me. 4 of us shared a strawberry popover for a dessert. Popovers overs are supposed to be very light & airy, almost empty inside. This was heavy like cake. It is not a Popover! Service was nice but water glasses stayed empty. Went today for breakfast.... They have a great selection of item with their all day menu. We had the cheese scrambled in a popover and the Irish scrambled in a popover, both were very big and filling as I was worried I didn't order enough food. The server was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu but we did feel the kitchen was a little slow, as a lot of people were waiting for food at tables and Togo line was backing up. For a breakfast place to run out of corn beef hash at 10am is not unheard of, so I'll give them an all right, but when you order a salmon Benedict with home fries and you get barely toasted English muffin, runny , not poached eggs ( all of which were served cold) and tater tots for home fries, it's a bit much. Popover has such a cute and friendly atmosphere. The service is with a smile. It's busy but our food came out in a reasonable time. The food is what keeps me coming back over and over, though. I love their soups and the popovers but I'm a breakfast sandwich snob and theirs is the BEST. I love that you can have a boozy brunch and I'm hoping they will expand their hours in the high season because It would absolutely be my go to place for happy hour, lol. Stopped by this restaurant in May and unfortunately we were too late and it was closed. I love popovers so we went back this Sunday. It was a 2 hour trip for us. We got there around 11:30 am. We walked in and the staff was super nice but were told that they ran out but some were in the oven and they would be ready in a few minutes. We waited about 10 mins and went back to inquire. This time there was a woman behind the counter wearing a different color shirt than the other employees and she had a bad attitude. She said that they were out of popovers. I told her that I was told they were in the oven and then She said it would take 10 more minutes. I had ordered 6 popovers to go and was about to ask for a refund just from her attitude. But we decided to wait. We waited outside and went back in around 12 minutes later. They were ready and were piping hot. Which was awesome but they were not light and airy. Cute little breakfast and brunch cafe in downtown Mystic. It was so good that I went twice on my short visit to Mystic, especially the for the multitude of gluten free options that are celiac safe. A group favorite was the gluten free fried chicken and waffles and London fog. Kayla was our waitress both times and was so knowledgeable on the menu and was overall amazing!! read more

very excited to try the popovers. Since this is their 2nd location we excepted it to be very well run and great popovers. Unfortunately, neither was good. First off - walked in and in front is the menus and order stations. placed our order For 2 hot popovers with honey butter. Told to sit down and they would bring it to us. While sitting at table turns out there were waiters. Bringing menus and taking orders. Should have a sign explaining that, and the register person should have told us to sit and a waiter will be there. Waited a long time, when our popovers came out, the were warm on the outside and cold inside. The honey butter was rock hard. Will not be back. Popovers seemed like they would be good if hot. big like at counter and couldn't find waiter to ask to heat. So we left. read more
